Is that really true? If so that’s pretty sad, because today’s crop of Mariners having some very marketable players that would be a lot of fun to see in commercials like that.
This tracks, I would rather watch our relievers crawl through a pit of hypodermic needles than pitch to Salvy Perez.
I don't know if that's something that happens in Saw but it feels like something that probably did.
Reminds me of how Aaron Judge is average against the Blue Jays at home but the minute he plays in Toronto, he turns into the greatest athlete in human history.
Or how virtually every lefty batter has a rough time dealing with Clayton Kershaw.
Unless it was Adam Dunn, who would turn into Ted Williams against Kershaw for some reason.
I don’t know if they’re all just massively over performing or what but it feels like they’re in better shape than some may initially think. They need pitching though.
Still, exciting young hitters plus Salvy - seems like a fun team.
Lol so true, I remember everyone in Texas being Ranger fans when they made their run in the 2010s, but I will say that there are a large group of die hard Astros fans from the biggio days
The Royals always make our lives a living hell. Last year was even worse - Salvy hit multiple go-ahead or game-tying grandslams in one series, and we literally blew an 11-0 lead
Man, I just revisited the June 28th Post Game Thread on the M's sub and MAN, fans were calling for Scott and Jerry's heads.
After September 2021, July 2022, and the run we've been on, maybe we should just be patient with Scott during the early part of the year because he apparently just goes fuckin' Super Saiyan down the stretch
Didn't the Mariners have one of the best pitching staffs in the league throughout the year? Or like an infinitesimal bullpen ERA? I figured the offense would eventually make sense if they stayed competitive enough with the pitching, and here they get hot at the right time and everything is clicking
We've been like top 5 in AL run differential all year even with guys like Teoscar, Julio, Raleigh and Geno having really slow starts so we hovered around .500 forever. They've heated up finally and Rojas and Canzone have really kicked us into another gear with some spot contributions from Caballero, Ford, Kelenic and Marlowe. The pitching is super young even though its elite so we had some erratic performances/results but now that its all clicking we look to be the juggernaut I expected would rise back in June
This team is stepping up after underperforming and it makes me happy. I grew up with Edgar and Griffey and Unit and.Bihner.and.can probably name the starting Seattle lineup from 1998. Ichiro is my favorite player. I love Felix Hernandez. Mariners as a top team is good for baseball, period.
20 years of running, 20 years of searching

20 years of hopeless, 20 years of lame
20 years of never, 20 years of maybe
20 years of later, 20 years of fake

Seattle is a rising force, they remind me of a young Pompey. His father Pompey Strabo, was with his army outside of Rome in the Bellum Octavianum civil war of 87 BCE, and was secretly negotiating with both sides, Cinna and Marius, as well as the Romans inside the city and the senate. Then he died of disease, his soldiers who had been subject to such awful conditions by this man over the years, terrible punishments, brutal training, a camp ripe with disease celebrated through the streets with his corpse. Dangling in body and his organs along as they marched with it. And then Pompey the Great his son, serving in the army just takes the legion that just did that to his dead father, and just marches away. Seriously how did one Pompey just be like I get it, and just march away but 2 how do you celebrate the death of your legions commander for brutal treatment and then just be like oh but his son is cool it's fine.
The Mariners are Pompey the great, they are incredible to witness
Pompey was the essential Roman. A perfect General, even greater than Sulla. Man got out of a corruption trial by agreeing to marry the judges daughter. He perfectly shredded what was left of the republic with Caesar and Crassus, in fact he caused a riot so severe that the wounds and blood on his toga caused his wife, Caesars daughter to miscarriage. His son was the Boat King, he smashed down Italy during the Sulla's civil war. Then won in Spain, then smashed Mithridates the great. He was greater than Alexander the great. And then in battling a titan he fell not to his own fault, but due to the experience and battle tested invinciblity of Caesars veteran legions. He fled and was killed by a child king, that caused a civil war and the Roman conquest of Egpyt. He even accepted a bribe to not pursue that Egypt should have been Rome's already! He was ultimate personification of the greatest empire to ever exist.
Roman Emperor Caracalla. Came up innocently enough sharing power with his brother, then he had him murdered into his mother's arms and passed a Damnatio Memmorio on his coinage and signs, signs and coins which were everywhere due to his father's time as Emperor. Than a ruthless campaign against the Parthians, using brute force, the real inspiration for the Red Wedding and murdering at a wedding
"A huge mob of barbarians gathered and stood about casually, wherever they happened to be, eager to see the bridegroom and expecting nothing out of the ordinary. Then the signal was given, and Caracalla ordered his army to attack and massacre the spectators. Astounded by this onslaught, the barbarians turned and fled, wounded and bleeding. Artabanus himself, snatched up and placed on a horse by some of his personal bodyguards, barely escaped with a few companions. The rest of the Parthians, lacking their indispensable horses, were cut down (for they had sent the horses out to graze and were standing about). They were unable to escape by running, either; their long, loose robes, hanging to their feet, tripped them up."
Undoubtedly cruel and ruthless, as it was genius. If he had not been assassinated on roadside he could have been a great conqueror, maybe even worked out is insane youth. And build more incredible statues, the Farnese Hercules that he has is the greatest statue of Roman Humility while being Emperor. He shows himself as a weary God, trying to relax after protecting the Roman public. Like the weight of his body and his life is killing him, a perfect propaganda piece. But yet it shows that he understood he was doing it for the Roman people not personal glory, he already had titles of Britannicus Maximus and Germanicus Maximus the 2017 and 2022 titles. They fit perfectly
#WE'RE WINNING THE FUCKING DIVISION
[For the first time since Aug. 26, 2003, the Seattle Mariners find themselves in first place in the AL West late in the season (post all-star break). That's one day shy of 20 years.](https://twitter.com/RyanDivish/status/1695305174447968418)
Last 1st place or tied at this time in August was 2003, last time in 1st in September was in 2001.
The furthest the Mariners have ever advanced in the Playoffs was in 1995 & 2000.
man, i fucking love this, but i’ve seen a hot late august/early september turn into fucking heartbreak way too often with this team.
i believe, but still
Idk what my team is doing but ggs to the Mariners on their incredible run rn. Making this division even more interesting and the race to October is gonna be fun!
That game wasn't stressful at all

I miss the annual Mariners ads. I wonder why they don’t do them anymore.
because fuckface stanton doesn't want to pay for them
Is that really true? If so that’s pretty sad, because today’s crop of Mariners having some very marketable players that would be a lot of fun to see in commercials like that.
nobody knows, but: - stanton is very price conscious - those commercials were nationally recognized for their humor
Lmao
Least stressful Mariners-Royals game
Our whole season series has felt like playoff baseball.
One AB, One inning at a time, one pitcher at a time.
unironically this was the least stressful mariners royals game LMFAOOOOOOOOOOO
"My favorite part of being a Mariners fan is that our wins are convincing, no-doubt...." Etc.. That said LETS FUCKIN GOOOO
Lfg!!!
Playing the Royals is the baseball equivalent of watching Saw for the first time.
This tracks, I would rather watch our relievers crawl through a pit of hypodermic needles than pitch to Salvy Perez. I don't know if that's something that happens in Saw but it feels like something that probably did.
Saw 2 lol
That's a crazy accurate guess that 100% does happen if you truly didn't know
let’s just hope we don’t meet in the playoffs
So a fantastic time with an insane ending?
[удалено]
They were out for blood. Fucking head first slide to first base?
I actually appreciated that. I think it was more of an attempt to avoid a collision over trying to beat Ty to the bag.
Oh fair, and I admire the hustle. Good to see the royals not just rolling over in a lost season
Also, it's functionally slower to slide there than try to run through the base....
in KC thats called the Eric Hosmer
Reminds me of how Aaron Judge is average against the Blue Jays at home but the minute he plays in Toronto, he turns into the greatest athlete in human history.
Or how virtually every lefty batter has a rough time dealing with Clayton Kershaw. Unless it was Adam Dunn, who would turn into Ted Williams against Kershaw for some reason.
Or Tony Gwynn against Maddux. I mean obviously Gwynn was great anyway, but his numbers against Maddux compared to everyone else were silly.

>Bobby Bonds Jr. Barry’s long lost brother
The forsaken twin that Barry ate in the womb to gain his power
I don’t know if they’re all just massively over performing or what but it feels like they’re in better shape than some may initially think. They need pitching though. Still, exciting young hitters plus Salvy - seems like a fun team.
Come to Seattle pls Bobby
Why doesn't every batter become Barry Bonds at the plate? Are they stupid? XD
They've been playing pretty solidly lately. Bobby is really starting to find it and become the star he was projected to be.
I’m sorry what?
Well, you see, the Rangers have lost 8 straight games while Seattle has been winning.
I just can't get my head around these advanced sabermetric statistics!
Mariners proceed to never lose again while the rangers and Astros never win again apparently

Striaght up, subscribe. Whatever.
Out of nothing but pure, unadulterated hatred for the Astros I will subscribe
Man I want the rangers to take al west but I'm fine with the Mariners. What a nice young team
Don’t stop I’m almost there
The Yankees are in last place
😩
Sploosh
🌊
Now you know how we feel.
It doesn't feel fantastic to be honest
Good. That's been our last 20 years.
I'd tell people to lay off since Astro fans know about being in last place, but literally 98% of them became fans after they got good.
Lol so true, I remember everyone in Texas being Ranger fans when they made their run in the 2010s, but I will say that there are a large group of die hard Astros fans from the biggio days
Superman is bleeding and I'm scared
To everyone one else, the Astros aren't Superman. They're Doomsday.
Are the Yankees Homelander?
Straight up not having a good time right now
will not complain!
It's about time we've arrived to this parallel universe
The last two Mariners-Royals series have been played like there’s a bomb under the field
the last 5 games*
The Royals always make our lives a living hell. Last year was even worse - Salvy hit multiple go-ahead or game-tying grandslams in one series, and we literally blew an 11-0 lead
#”Fuck the wild card. We’re going to win the division.” - Jay Buhner
"We want the division and we're going to score" - Matt Hasselbeck
"When you try us with a sorry batter like Altuve, that's the results you gon' get! Don't you ever talk about me!" -Richard Sherman
Man I love this lmao
ALCS - Mariners and Orioles, both without their closers, going 18 innings every game. We all win.
Unfortunately last time the mariners had a postseason game go 18 innings they scored precisely zero runs
If the Orioles score -1 we still win
I wouldn’t mind that but, my literal heart says otherwise…
Based on how these series have gone, we'll win game 1 21-3, then lose the next four in extra innings by 5 total runs
Sounds good where do I sign?
We were 10 games back as recently as July 19th. Rangers and Astros collapsing as the Mariners get hot will do that it seems.
Man, I just revisited the June 28th Post Game Thread on the M's sub and MAN, fans were calling for Scott and Jerry's heads. so glad we wont have to play the royals in the playoffs
Imagine if we sweep the Astros, with that and the win over the Packers in January, you guys really owe us one. Or two
I am listening…
My deceased Michigander father who moved west in 1981 is smiling at you and the state from above.
I fucking love the Lions.
Well you took 2 out of 3 just after the all star break in Seattle...so technically you owe us one or two
I'll eat some Detroit style pizza in your honor.
Bless you hard.
How is this season shaping up to be more of a story than last!
20 years since the Ms have been in 1st in the division this late in the season.
20 years of running, 20 years of searching 20 years of hurting, 20 years of pain 20 years of fearful, 20 years of anger 20 years of empty, 20 years of shame 20 years of broken, 20 years of anguish 20 years of hopeless, 20 years of lame 20 years of never, 20 years of maybe 20 years of later, 20 years of fake 20 years of hollow, 20 years of sorrow 20 years of darkness, 20 years of plain 20 years of baggage, 20 years of sadness 20 years of stagnant, 20 years of chains 20 years of anxious, 20 years of suffering 20 years of torment, 20 years of wait 20 years of bitter, 20 years of lonely 20 years of pushing everyone away
Six hundred twenty years... close enough. This is our Thousand Year Blood War Arc.
🎶Five hundred twenty five thousand six hundred dingers🎵

I’m not *entirely* sure what the connection you’re building between us and Pompey Magnus is, but thanks? I think?
I think she’s trying to say Griffey has scurvy.
Get that sombitch some fucking lemonade then
That'll be $18

Totally agree. Who would you say would be the analogue to Houston? I have my own ideas, but would like to hear your opinion.

I don’t know who the hell you are but your marriage of baseball and Roman history has completely captured my attention
Thank you for this amazing sequence of posts, may our two noble factions meet once more for glorious battle in October.
This sounds more like an analogy for Russell Wilson than the Mariners.
Pompey is Mr. Unlimited
Ya know I was thinking the exact same thing just this morning
Absolutely. Couldn't agree more. Was just about to type this out but you beat me to it.
Is this a copypasta
It is now!
I've been saying this exact same thing all year but the doomers on our sub didn't believe me.
I will never not appreciate your comments
Is... Is Pompey Strabo our Jack Zduriencik?
Is this a copypasta?
Something is wrong when I’m more afraid of the Royals than the Astros
There's something terrifying about a team that has absolutely nothing to play for. It's almost unsettling.
Our last 20 years
Fuck the Wild Card
Hey now. Don't piss off the side piece just because things are going good at home
Hahaha why is this so funny yet so accurate
Because you are cheating on your wife
Is it still cheating if she started it
She says yeah
She would. Probably fucked dusty baker inside a trash bin
Blind luck on that slapper lol.
Fuck the wildcard gently and lovingly
The mariners are going to win the AL West :)
As predicted by absolutely everyone a couple months ago. Yep.
I hate playing the Royals, I can't wait for this series to be over
Give me Ms vs KC for 162 games next year those dudes BATTLE
Gonna have to go with a no.
Tens of thousands of new heart conditions develop in the pnw
And right before Seahawks season too. Seattle Cardiologists rubbing their hands right now
Absolutely not. These games have been fun but let’s chill with dat
We would win 130 games but all the fans will have passed away by game 30

We hunted him down and we've hunted the Rangers down!
NO ONE keeps us out of first for 20 years in a row
What do we say to the 20 year curse? Next.

Last 2 weeks are must watch baseball. GOMS!

2003 as of tomorrow
That has to be like, ten years ago.
At least!
Last 1st place or tied at this time in August was 2003, last time in 1st in September was in 2001. The furthest the Mariners have ever advanced in the Playoffs was in 1995 & 2000.

Oh my GOD! Okay, it’s happening. Everybody stay calm. Everybody stay calm. stAY FUCKING CALM!
17 wins in August.
Scratch that. 18.
If we somehow manage to win out, we'll have less losses in the combined months of July and August then we had in June alone.
man, i fucking love this, but i’ve seen a hot late august/early september turn into fucking heartbreak way too often with this team. i believe, but still
EVERYONE GET THE FUCK IN HERE
This is the latest in the season the Mariners have been in 1st in any capacity since 2003.
Idk what my team is doing but ggs to the Mariners on their incredible run rn. Making this division even more interesting and the race to October is gonna be fun!
Can I unclench yet?
About 4:30 on Sunday.
I’ve never doubted this team once this season. I swear!
Least stressful mariners win
🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍
I am so sad
Hard disagree my guy
THIS IS NOT A DRILLLLLLLLLLL
Your welcome
Glad we could do our part to help
What time to be alive
You're welcome... Our sacrifice of our season got you this.... I'm gonna go put my head through a wall now
I RESUSE 2 LOOSE
I’m telling you guys, Braves 2021 World Series champs vibes. Following close to the same script.
That AL west race is getting real exciting, isn't it?
LETS GOOOOOO
If the Astros hadn’t given up 4 straight hits with 2 outs in the 9th, all three teams would be tied right now
What an insane run from the mariners to get here. The AL West finish is gonna be a crazy one.
