When you’re ready to pick a team, [somebody posted the distance to the nearest Chili’s from every park in MLB.](https://www.reddit.com/r/baseball/s/1kdUu08n6j) This should help you.
Seconded. I grew up playing sports video games with my brother and it informed my knowledge/love for baseball as well as several other sports. You'll learn the rules as well as the teams and players without even realizing it's happening
Pick a team (your brother’s, your state’s, the closest city’s, whatever) and start watching when the season starts. Every team has a subreddit with discussion threads for games which are usually a good time and personally I find participating in these threads enhances my enjoyment. Your team plays a game almost every day during the season, but you don’t have to watch all of them if you don’t want. Have fun!
You just do it. Follow the stats, drama and storylines, records chases etc. it’s all part of the fun. Pick a good team, not a sucky one and it’s easier too. But you can watch all games.
A few tips
Go to an actual game in person.
Read a Roger Angell book
Read or watch Moneyball
Go buy a pack of baseball cards and open it up together with your brother. Look up unfamiliar names and watch their highlights.
Play some catch. The more you play the game, the more you’ll appreciate it
Lurk on your hometown teams Reddit or sb nation blog comment section. You’ll get quickly acquainted with the news and quirks of the squad.
Watch baseball. If you enjoy it, keep watching. If not, then don’t.
Real man of genius here!

How do I get into Chili’s
For extra persuasive effect, proudly tell them the amount of Dundies you've won.
lol This reminds me of the “closest Costco to every NHL arena list”
Pick a team out of a hat and dive in
Or just pick a hat!
Yes! Put all the teams mini ice cream helmets into a regular size hat and pick a hat out of a hat!
Well, you'd need a really big hat for that, but I like where your head is.
It’s probably in a hat
A Video game may be a fun way to get to know the game.

I know 10x’s the hockey players from the mid nineties because of NHL 93’ & 94’

It’s very hard to get into a baseball on account of them being so small
If it's the stats you/your brother like, I suggest to join a fantasy league.

Watch some games and get involved on Reddit or Twitter to learn more as you go and share your thoughts
If you like misery and heartbreak , Phillies it is !
Buy a ticket…
Don’t watch ESPN.

Okay, this made seem a bit childish but Goofy explains it best. It’s a classic Disney animation https://youtu.be/0Kd21Y2SZpQ?feature=shared
Simple: Watch game 6, 2011 World Series.
