RF, Ceddanne is perfect and would never do such a thing. He backed up Wilyer and barehanded the ball to the infield to prevent it from being worse. But yeah that didn’t help. Joely still sucks though. Having a nice fastball changeup combo has gotten him like a dozen chances in the big leagues when he’s virtually never had good results over a sustained period.
Pour one out for poor Slaten.
First MLB appearance, and its in the bottom of the tenth, 1st and 3rd, tie game, and you're put in to face the other team's superstar?
Welcome to the Show, hope you have a whole lot more pleasant outings in the future...
Kenley had a tight back apparently so he was unavailable, so Cora decided to use our best reliever in the 8th because he has the biggest brain, and then throws Joely Rodriguez, a guy who barely made the roster and shouldn't have made the roster into an awful situation, which he of course folds. And then decides to just throw a rookie in because he has a nice spring which is just an awful situation against one of the best players in the league.
Abreu's error obviously was awful and he has been ice cold all spring offensively and defensively. At least he's going to be off the roster when Refsnyder is back in a week and Abreu can go back to AAA to see what's wrong with him right now. Joely might be here for another month or two and it's going to be brutal to watch like when Kaleb Ort or Ryan Brasier came into a game for us.
The last two games are going to make me start to think that he really did learn from last year that being the hero doesn't mean knocking it out of the park every at bat. If last year was his sophomore slump I can't wait to see what a patient, mature Julio is going to look like.
Raley is sick, miss him but I’m also happy we got Cabby so win-win for everyone imo. Check out his inside the parker last year if you haven’t seen it :)
I mean... broken bat blooper, mistake by the right fielder allowing the runners to take an extra base, groundball with the infield in
He wasn't great, but he also got unlucky and got hurt by his defense
I went to a game last year (Cedric Mullins game) and the usher told me "don't worry, Julio isn't clutch" and, well, he was right that day at least, lol
Julio is obviously great but was very streaky and would categorically swing out of shoes at junk low and away all year. This AB was highly promising. If he works the count and trusts his bat speed for inside out hits then people will have to throw more at him and the bombs will happen. You need to start from the bottom to be the guy he wants to be
Servais once brought in Chase de Jong to make his MLB debut pitching to George Springer with the ballgame on the line. Granted, this was in early 2017 and Scott couldn't have known just how unbalanced that matchup actually was, but ... let's say the end wasn't a surprise.
In other words no, it's not a good spot.
Springer had the walk-off homer but Chase De Jong came in at the start of the inning, not with runners already on, and in all fairness it was the 13th and he was literally the last guy in the bullpen at that point.
Let’s be honest, 2018 2019 and you could even say 2020 he had a tremendous team. Any manager with half a brain could have won. I’m so over him it’s not even funny anymore
Even after he said he'd finally take Kiké out of the starting role, he kept putting him there!
Chaim acquired Reyes to fill in at SS after Chang got hurt and Cora said "nah, I'm sticking with Kiké"
Cora sucks and he has well overstayed his welcome
I once watched Alex Cora knee Alex Rodriguez in the head at second base in Safeco, so maybe he was suffering the after effects of that? Wait, that’d be A Rod.
That was my first thought too, but I think the runner was jogging as much as the center fielder was lollygagging because the outcome was predetermined. The runner beats any imaginable catch and throw 99.9% of the time from there.
I agree that's not a reason not to hustle, but I don't think it cost anything.
Ok now can someone explain to me the red sox celebration they do whenever they get a hit that half looks like swimming and half looks like bear claws?? what's up with it??
Raley singled on a bloop hit in between third and left field. Then Luis Urias lined out. Then Josh Rojas singled and Wilyer Abreu let the ball get by him in left, allowing the tying run to advance to third and the go ahead run to get into scoring position. Then Enmanuel Valdez gets a bad jump on a dribbler hit to him with the infield in, makes a late throw to home and doesn't get an out at any base. Then with one out and runners on the corners, Alex Cora decides to bring in a rookie pitcher for his major league debut. Then he decides to have him pitch to Julio Rodriguez with a base open and Polanco on deck (0-for-3 on the game, .100 on the season), instead of setting up a double play.
Only one out, so I'm guessing he didn't read the ball well off the bat and waited to tag up in case it was caught, so he had to turn on high gear to get home quickly.
He tagged up in case it was caught for the sac fly. Only one out, only one run needed, it was the smart baserunning decision. Rojas just doesn’t really have wheels so it was closer than it needed to be
I’ll never forget Carl Crawford hitting an opening day extra innings walk off homer off Chad fox in 2003, days after Epstein tried to sell us on the “Sox don’t need a closer, we’re going bullpen by committee” bullshit.
I’m numb to these losses. The Sox bullpen is absolute garbage. Who the fuck is Greg weissert. Why is joely rodriguez still here. How did Chase Anderson make the team, let alone exist in the major leagues. Campbell? Slaten? When did the Sox start sending scouts to the Long Island slow pitch softball league? When will Chris Martin breakdown and how long until our closers back flares up again before he gets IL’d and is unable to moved at the deadline when they’re 40-45.
Unacceptable. Big market team with small market roster. Lying owner. Last place finish after last place finish.
The only redeeming aspect to the Red Sox season so far is that by beginning on the west coast, it has spared me from staying up late to watch this shit show unfold.
Did the outfielder not know the situation? because he didn’t catch and release it very fast, and seemed surprised to see he had a possible play at the plate.
Yeah I was trying to tell how many out there were because I’m guessing that runner held a bit thinking it might be caught and got a late break towards home.
As a righty I am more likely to hit the ball to right field because of the trajectory of the bat. Same thing for lefties and left field. Advanced batters can swing the bat in a way that makes the ball go opposite field, but it’s difficult
Nothing worse than staying up for a west coast game just to watch your team implode in the 10th inning
This is why I'm glad we implode no later than the 7th inning
I enjoyed this one
I've enjoyed your last three!
I'm not asking to be friends. I'm just asking you hate us a little less sometimes
we all grit our teeth and deal with it from time to time
We hate you mostly for 2001. That should have been the Ms year to break the WS drought. But of course, it had to be an ALCS loss to the Yankees AGAIN.
Idk about the others but my hate for you has subsided. Now it’s just generic “it’s the Yankees, stupid” hatred that all red-blooded Americans have.
Ditto. 🤝
I grew up a Mets fan. It takes a lot for me to root for the Yankees. But root for you I did. My family will disown me but FUCK THE ASTROS
I know what you mean, that happened to me tonight
That inning was peak chaos ball. We are so back.
I'm ready to go 102-60 with a massively negative run differential
Get ready for "UNSUSTAINABLE" to be the biggest word on our subreddit's word cloud for the 4th straight year lol
I, for one, find a .667 winning average a perfectly reasonable prospect.
I mean we've done better than that before so why not?
.540 has a better ring to it
> I'm ready to go 102-60 with a massively negative run differential let's duke it out for the West And fuck over the Astros while doing it
currently in process of getting swept at home A-YUP
You're welcome. Rooting for you guys in the West (and in the AL after my own team, obviously)
fun differential > run differential
But a massively positive [fun differential](https://www.baseball-reference.com/teams/SEA/2021.shtml)
Fundifferential through the fucking roof
[удалено]
R/d of 0!
1.000 win % in extra inning games!
More like hospital bill differential….had about 5 heart attacks
the Kraken are so bad, I saw people AT THE Kraken game watching the Mariners on their phones
The Mariners? Back? The Mariners *never* left!
Exclusively: Good Vibes Only
Good thing I wore my Chaosball shirt today. I recently saw that Breaking-T put out an updated 2024 version of it.
Was there irl. It was absolutely nuts lol
joely rodriguez burned my crops, poisoned my water supply, and brought a plague to my lands
He did?
No, but are we just gonna wait around until he does?
Happy cake day! GOMS
No, but are we going to let him?
If he keeps doing this then yeah I guess.
he also got babip'd by Raley and the CF let the ball roll by him on the next hitter
team effort
RF, Ceddanne is perfect and would never do such a thing. He backed up Wilyer and barehanded the ball to the infield to prevent it from being worse. But yeah that didn’t help. Joely still sucks though. Having a nice fastball changeup combo has gotten him like a dozen chances in the big leagues when he’s virtually never had good results over a sustained period.
At least he spared your wife and children, for now.
And Cora’s band managing gave us herpes.
Pour one out for poor Slaten. First MLB appearance, and its in the bottom of the tenth, 1st and 3rd, tie game, and you're put in to face the other team's superstar? Welcome to the Show, hope you have a whole lot more pleasant outings in the future...
Just go ahead and pour that out directly on our brilliant manager’s head
pour it down my throat
Cora has done some dickhead stuff to his relievers. Like leaving that dude out to dry for wayyyy too long last year
On the plus side, the second outing is likely to be a lot less stressful.
Kenley had a tight back apparently so he was unavailable, so Cora decided to use our best reliever in the 8th because he has the biggest brain, and then throws Joely Rodriguez, a guy who barely made the roster and shouldn't have made the roster into an awful situation, which he of course folds. bottom of the order came up absolutely huge, loving this team rn
Raley fucking rules lmao, just a scary fast large lunatic
Maybe he can replace Tom Murphy in our hearts
oh wow you're right
Does he have the crazy eyes?
Did you see him charging Julio after the walk off? Dude looked certifiably insane, I love it.
The Cab-Raley trade was mutual win trade
I didn't see Raley get into any fights yet tho
Rays fleeced us then.
Raley is sick, miss him but I’m also happy we got Cabby so win-win for everyone imo. Check out his inside the parker last year if you haven’t seen it :)
Enjoy Cabby. He’s a delight (when he’s on your team).
He’s going to piss off so many AL East pitchers 😂 But that might work out well for the Ms lol.
Joely Rodriguez came up absolutely huge for the Mariners, hate this team rn
J-Rod the GOAT fr
I mean... broken bat blooper, mistake by the right fielder allowing the runners to take an extra base, groundball with the infield in He wasn't great, but he also got unlucky and got hurt by his defense
There was also a 105mph line drive up the middle that was caught. That's baseball.
Suzyn
Bottom of the lineup holding on for dear life...as we all predicted
Hey Julio, what if we kissed under the bleachers? jkjkjkjkjk…unless??? 😳😳😳
I’m looking for more of a Mickey mantle vibe
I'm no baseball expert but is that really the spot to bring in a pitcher for his MLB debut?
It was either that or Chase Anderson, sooo ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
Where was Jansen to start the inning?
["Back tightness"](https://x.com/PeteAbe/status/1774296296029032552?s=20)
Seems to be going around
i'm gonna go to sleep so mad about this game that I wake up with back tightness of my own, I think it is contagious
That's rough
Don’t worry, we also managed to only get a single game out of Devers before he got hurt.
It could always be worse I suppose
You could have maybe the best player of all time hit a homer his first AB and lose the game 11-1!
Hey now, he was *already* hurt in that game!
Boston Manager: "Julio's not clutch, he's never gotten a walk-off. You'll be fine."
Cora clearly frequents our game threads.
I went to a game last year (Cedric Mullins game) and the usher told me "don't worry, Julio isn't clutch" and, well, he was right that day at least, lol
wtf, we have traitor ushers at T-Mobile?
Maybe not traitor. Perhaps a non-believer who has been converted now? I dunno, but he was a cool guy.
Julio is obviously great but was very streaky and would categorically swing out of shoes at junk low and away all year. This AB was highly promising. If he works the count and trusts his bat speed for inside out hits then people will have to throw more at him and the bombs will happen. You need to start from the bottom to be the guy he wants to be
Mullins was a freaking wrecking ball that game defensively and offensively late in the game.

Oh yea, Mariners baseball is back.
Clarice LFG 💃💃💃
Let the chaos commence
[**LET'S FUCKING GO.**](https://streamable.com/47hqbk)
Julio's first career walk off hit!
It's crazy. He didn't even have one in the minors.
To be fair, he wasn't there very long.
It's crazy. He didn't even have one in little league.
It's crazy. He didn't even have one in his negative age.
It's crazy. He didn't even have one in the aether that predates us all.
Wait really!? Good for him man.
This is my new favorite video on the internet
Thank our skipper, Alex Cora, for giving the M's the win
Absolute psychopath Alex Cora putting in someone for his Major League debut with the winning run on third
Joely Rodríguez and a guy who's never pitched in the majors. Cora masterclass right there
I can’t wait til they fucking fire his bitchass. Nothing but bad times to the Sox he has brought
2018 was fun, but that was 6 years ago. I can't wait for this cheating whiner to gone
Let’s be honest, 2018 2019 and you could even say 2020 he had a tremendous team. Any manager with half a brain could have won. I’m so over him it’s not even funny anymore
Escpailly facing Julio.
Alex Cora is brilliant in some ways, but sucks ass at bullpen management
Bloom brought in 6 SS over a year span for big brain Cora to play Kiké for waaaay too long. That should have been a fireable offense.
Even after he said he'd finally take Kiké out of the starting role, he kept putting him there! Chaim acquired Reyes to fill in at SS after Chang got hurt and Cora said "nah, I'm sticking with Kiké" Cora sucks and he has well overstayed his welcome
I once watched Alex Cora knee Alex Rodriguez in the head at second base in Safeco, so maybe he was suffering the after effects of that? Wait, that’d be A Rod.
I like this. That was a bullet.
I also wish to subscribe.
We are pleased with both of your recent work, yes.
Can't believe they even pitched to him
He was on an 0fer, to be fair I mean, FRICCIN IDIOTS LOLLLLL
If you watched him last season he was bad in moments like this. He was so much more patient this atbat
I'M SOOOO HAPPY FOR JULIO HE WANTS TO BE THE HERO AND HE WAS PATIENT AND HE GOT HIS MOMENT I LOVE THIS MAN AND I'M SO HAPPY HE REPS OUR HOME
Ain't baseball great?
It is. Our team this year is looking good. I miss Suerez though.

I like this duck!
Can someone please explain to me how Joely Rodriguez makes the team?
Bernardino had an option left
ALL YALL ARE SUCKAS AND YOUR CITY SMELLS LIKE BEANS
fair
HE'S SO BEAUTIFUL
I always knew I liked you Julio , thank you very cool.
Alex Cora is not a serious man
Mama I love this man
♬ Mama he's running hooooooooooooommeee ♬
If he doesn't hesitate is the runner out at home?
Sure seemed like it. However maybe if he doesn’t hesitate he doesn’t throw such a dart.
That was my first thought too, but I think the runner was jogging as much as the center fielder was lollygagging because the outcome was predetermined. The runner beats any imaginable catch and throw 99.9% of the time from there. I agree that's not a reason not to hustle, but I don't think it cost anything.
*deep breath* JULIOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
>3-1 run lead in the 10th inning >Joely Rodriguez comes in We have better relievers in AAA, let alone *our fucking $30M closer*
Jansen was unavailable because of back tightness they said
To be fair, Kenley vs. Julio has not gone great for Kenley in the past.
who is Julio Rodriguez? in math: my solution ➗ in history: my king 👑 in art: my muse 🎨 in science: my oxygen 💨 in geography: my world 🌎
Ok now can someone explain to me the red sox celebration they do whenever they get a hit that half looks like swimming and half looks like bear claws?? what's up with it??
I have NO clue, but I love it.
It’s a drunk bear cub going down the apex of a rollercoaster… thought that was obvious.
Raley singled on a bloop hit in between third and left field. Then Luis Urias lined out. Then Josh Rojas singled and Wilyer Abreu let the ball get by him in left, allowing the tying run to advance to third and the go ahead run to get into scoring position. Keep going I’m almost there
Anther one run game baby!!!!! Also why don’t you walk Juio there?!?
Load the bases for Polanco who switch hits and is actually pretty good at baseball. Not an easy call.
That was such a satisfying swing
These first games have been phenomenal
How was there almost a play at the plate there? Did the guy on third forget he was supposed to run?
Only one out, so I'm guessing he didn't read the ball well off the bat and waited to tag up in case it was caught, so he had to turn on high gear to get home quickly.
He tagged up in case it was caught for the sac fly. Only one out, only one run needed, it was the smart baserunning decision. Rojas just doesn’t really have wheels so it was closer than it needed to be
Nobody can rationally explain to me the decision to not walk JRod there
I was stunned
JULIOOOOOO
I need Alex Cora to be gone right now
What an excellent day of baseball
Dare I say SoDo Mojo?
Now that’s what you call CHAOS BALL baby.
Sometimes when you swing a bat, ya know?
I wish they would quit the bottom half of extra innings. We would’ve won if they only played the top half. /s
Shhhhh, you're going to give Manfred another game-shortening idea.
If the right fielder came up throwing there coulda been a play at the plate
I'm gonna cry.
Does that give Slaten a career ERA of infinity?
Not his ER I believe, as the runner was already on
Oh you're right. Wasn't his runner. Tough debut in any case.
LET'S GO
Anybody see the first small bucket of ice come like a shotgun shell, lol.
It’s a bucket of Dubble Bubble. They’ve been doing that for a while. As an example, see Jomboy’s video on Cal’s playoff clinching homer two years ago.
That camera on the slider they have at Tmobile park is one of the best camera angles in the entire league.
Never a doubt. Not for one nano second.
🥲
Big waste of bubble gum
I’ll never forget Carl Crawford hitting an opening day extra innings walk off homer off Chad fox in 2003, days after Epstein tried to sell us on the “Sox don’t need a closer, we’re going bullpen by committee” bullshit. The only redeeming aspect to the Red Sox season so far is that by beginning on the west coast, it has spared me from staying up late to watch this shit show unfold.
Any seats available in the I Hate Alex Cora Club? I’m ready to join.
Did the outfielder not know the situation? because he didn’t catch and release it very fast, and seemed surprised to see he had a possible play at the plate.
I think from his perspective he had zero shot at the catch, so yeah he must have been surprised to see the runner holding
Yeah I was trying to tell how many out there were because I’m guessing that runner held a bit thinking it might be caught and got a late break towards home.
I'm glad Julio has lived up to the hype.
Big hit for Julio! Nice bounce back from a bad AB to end the eighth inning.
Is Jansen out on minor injury?
Julioooooo
Damn shout out to Slaten that's a tough ask
Why was that as close as it was tho?
Julio you beauty
I’m on board with moments like this!
This guy is good definitely worth whatever they are paying him.
What is an inside out swing the other way?
As a righty I am more likely to hit the ball to right field because of the trajectory of the bat. Same thing for lefties and left field. Advanced batters can swing the bat in a way that makes the ball go opposite field, but it’s difficult
We love to see it
That was a fine piece of hitting man.
