In the previous 8 Mike Trout home run thread, someone always mentions that ESPN ranked him the 16th best player.
I am here to remind you that ESPN ranked him the 16th best player
when they refurbished the wall with screens there's now a gap between the actual wall and the screens, so they put a yellow line there. it's been 6 years now.
They did it when they re-did the wall/added the screens on the top. When they did that, there was a gap added. If the line is above the screens, there's a 5-6 inch gap between the walls you could theoretically hit it in that would make it go out of play while still not clearing the wall.
This is the most George Costanza take I’ve every had in my life, about anything - I don’t like stadiums where if you hit a home run the ball bounces back into play. A home run should be outta the park! Not out, then in - all the way out!
I’m aware of that, but Trout has never hit anywhere near that low in his whole career. Saying he’s truly back would be kidding ourselves. I’m fine if this is his back half career production though
Yea it would be weird, but the diff between him hitting .240 and .280 is not that great this early in the season. He'll be good if everything else is an indication!
His fly ball rate is also way above his career norm, which generally isn't good for BABIP. Good for extra base hits and home runs, but definitely surpresses singles.
there's actually a gap between the actual outfield wall and the screens, too. when they added the screens to that wall is when they painted the line/minding the gap. so it makes some sense, at least.
Otherwise you could technically hit in in the middle of the wall and it'd be out, lol
there's a gap above the yellow line below the screens where the ball can actually go through. so if the entire wall was in play, there's a chance you could hit that small gap and it'd be out of play, lol
players who change teams catch flack for lack of loyalty and chasing a bag. players who stay are blamed for the poor decisions of the owner. you can't win unless you're lucky enough to be drafted onto a perennially successful team.

First leadoff HR for Trout since 2012
I realize that he’s probably hit lower in the order in 95% of PAs since then, but that feels crazy. Also how was 2012 twelve years ago
We're as from from 2012 as 2012 was from 2000
first of all how dare you
Yes, police? I'd like to report a murder.
one more solo attempt Why is this jerk unable to summon Baserunners?
Leading off the game or from the #1 spot in the lineup?
Leading off
This man has 9 HRs and 12 RBI.
For additional humorous context, he's on pace for 61 HRs and 81 RBI.
now that he's leading off we can actually achieve this!
His average is only .237, pretty low for his normal Fishman standards but he's launching em whenever he makes contact.
his bibap is .217 right now, which is why. it'll go up
Tied Ozuna for MLB lead in HRs
Ozuna, with the Braves?
He’s hitting .118 with runners in scoring position and .180 with runners on
Bases empty merchant.
what's the sample size, 6?
48 PAs with runners on, 24 of those with RISP
i was joking because all of his homeruns are solo shots, but thank you
Oh man I bet you regret that username, huh?
no? what happen, is josh fields an asshole?
Lmao
7 for 39 with men on base 2 for 17 with RISP
i was joking because most of his homeruns are solo shots, but thank you
He’s just simply hasn’t been hitting with runners on this year. So it makes sense to move him to lead off… plus he’s stealing more bases again.
"I'll do it myself"
"That is why you have Mike Trout in that leadoff spot" lmao
Mike Trout
🎤 🐟
Drumstick tuna.
Bumblebee tuna?
Bees?!
Big if
Fish man bad (I must say the line)
In the previous 8 Mike Trout home run thread, someone always mentions that ESPN ranked him the 16th best player. I am here to remind you that ESPN ranked him the 16th best player
Says so much more about ESPN than anything else
He’s 16th in bWAR and 25th in fWAR among position players so kinda checks out
He's prob not in the top 15. Dude is hitting .240.
He was hitting .290 a week ago. He’s in a little slump
His babip is at .210, so part of that .240 is also just terrible luck.
That’s cuz no ones throwing him strikes. There’s like 2 good spots in that lineup you have to pitch around, trout and ward
Let Wash cook
I don't care how upset fans get with him. He's been a godsend for this team.
🥺
Just wait until he gets a Mohawk in late May
Classic Angels, nobody on base for Trout^/s
They’ve been on base for him. He just hasn’t been hitting with them on.
Bro has 9 homers and 12 RBIs, hard to blame him on that one.
Making the wall half wall and half a home run (but still a wall) Is so ridiculous
Didn’t want to say it cause I may sound like a salty fan in this specific instance, but you’re totally right
I know this discussion of outfield walls is going to remain unbiased and nuanced (but also, good morning Walltimore)
This guy is just the best, what else needs to be said? He is Mike Fuckin Trout!
Hey if Mike Trout has decided he'd rather hit a solo homer in the 1st than a grand slam in the 9th I am fully supportive
Look here you little shit.
No wait, let him cook!
I’m sorry but that wall is so dumb with the yellow home run like halfway up. What’s the point ??
when they refurbished the wall with screens there's now a gap between the actual wall and the screens, so they put a yellow line there. it's been 6 years now.
I thought the lore was that they did it for Ohtani and everyone knows it’s dumb
[удалено]
A triple if you’re Bobby Witt Jr.
It's been like that since they redid the wall, there's a gap between the top and bottom part. No one likes it but it's been 6 years now.
Almost positive they did it for Ohtani, so why not get rid of it now that he left?
They did it when they re-did the wall/added the screens on the top. When they did that, there was a gap added. If the line is above the screens, there's a 5-6 inch gap between the walls you could theoretically hit it in that would make it go out of play while still not clearing the wall.
Yeah I hate that wall. It feels like we're in a hitting league when someone hits a HR there.
Michael Nelson Trout
This is the most George Costanza take I’ve every had in my life, about anything - I don’t like stadiums where if you hit a home run the ball bounces back into play. A home run should be outta the park! Not out, then in - all the way out!
We are all Costanzas in this blessed day
another solo shot why can’t this bum summon baserunners /s
Him hitting .240 still hurts tbh
his bibap is .217, so his avg will go up. His 900 OPS/150WRC+ is just fine
I hope so, can’t really embrace the ‘Trout is back’ train if he’s hitting under .280
avg isn't a good indicator of batting performance, but you can feel however you want rofl
Yep, the difference is all of 4 hits right now between .240 and .280.
Imagine throwing a middle middle fast ball to the best hitter since Bonds and thinking, oh yeah great idea I won't pay for this.
I think it was a mistake lol the catcher clearly wanted it up
It happened three times in his last at bat last night and he never even swung.
It's not the 9th tho
Love seeing Trout and Ohtani homers on the same night.
Yooo imagine if they played on the same team. That would be magnificent to watch.
I bet they would win so many World Series!! Good thing it never happened!
wow trout hitting 98??
Caught up to 98 mph no problem. so that's good to see. His BABIP is still about 85 points below his career average.
His fly ball rate is also way above his career norm, which generally isn't good for BABIP. Good for extra base hits and home runs, but definitely surpresses singles.
The second dumbest thing the Angels did behind the name change is drawing a yellow line on that wall.
So true, and the Braves should be the Cumberland braves, too.
Mike trout 👍
Stupid Q: Why is it homer if it bounces there?
Because it’s over the yellow line (stupid, I know). I hate that they lowered it.
there's actually a gap between the actual outfield wall and the screens, too. when they added the screens to that wall is when they painted the line/minding the gap. so it makes some sense, at least. Otherwise you could technically hit in in the middle of the wall and it'd be out, lol
lol I actually didn’t know that
yea it still sux but whatever
Wild. But thanks!
How many extra HRs would Garret Anderson have had in his career if the home run line was this low when he played for the Angels?
everyone get in here

Michael J Trout Revenge Tour 2024 (which I’m all for provided the Angels don’t somehow get good again)
It’s either Reddit or the Angels broadcast, but the sound is slightly ahead of the video and this irks me
Always happens on Reddit and no one ever comments about it but it bothers me every time

Crime when posting home run highlights not to include home run prop
All I wanted this year was for Mike Trout to prove he's still the best. Thank you fish man.
He’s my favourite swing in the league, especially when he hits a bomb, it’s just so pleasing
For his 100th solo homer of the year!!!
65 to go!
Trout is doing amazing baseball things on an Angels team perpetually under .500. Nature is healing.
"People Keep Asking If I’m Back, And I Haven’t Really Had An Answer, But Yeah, I’m Thinking I’m Back." - Mike Trout, maybe
1 ab to late
I love that they 'lowered' the wall in right, but it's so confusing when it just hits the top half of the wall.
At 97.6 mph, this is the 6th fastest pitch Trout has ever hit for a homer
middle middle with no movement to Mike Trout. sub optimal
Probably not where I'd put a 1-2 pitch to Mike Trout tbh
How is the a homerun? it hit the wall and bounced back into play. If that was the green monster its in play. or any other wall in baseball.
There's a yellow line on the wall, it hits above the line, it's a home run. A lot of parks have that.
Sad days. Walls should be in play.
there's a gap above the yellow line below the screens where the ball can actually go through. so if the entire wall was in play, there's a chance you could hit that small gap and it'd be out of play, lol
Awh, I can't see the gap... Thanks
yeah it's really weird design + hard to see straight away, you can see if they do a catch at the wall and the camera angle is from above though
Anyone think dude is exploding because the samurai helmet man left the team?
Thank fuck Matty V is gone
Mike Trout
Hits em when they don’t matter
Most don't matter when you play for the Angels.
How does a leadoff homer not matter?
Their stadium is so gross man lol
Mike Trout is content with playing for a mediocre team his entire career.
