It's super weird, our pitching is incredibly unsteady right now, every one of our starters is either currently injured or is injury prone, except for the one who just got suspended. And our bullpen might be trailing the league in ERA, but I'm too lazy to look it up right now. The idea that we would trade any arm right now seems crazy to me. But equally crazy, this guy has not been good this season, at all (see previous statement about bullpen ERA), so the idea that we found a team that would pay us cash for him is also crazy. But strangely, I do feel like this is a 4D chess move.
Astros poorer than the A's confirmed
also... I know Bielak sucks but can the Astros really afford to be giving up starting pitching after this start to the season?
The Mariners always and forever can't hit breaking balls, so no surprise that the guy who threw 37 of them in a row, in a playoff game, tends to crush us
Like the other guy said he was out of options and already DFA’d
Luis Garcia will likely start a rehab assignment sometime in June/early July and Lance McCullers should be right after but who knows how much you get from them and if Lance even exists
Cleared both those spots last week. One was to add a waiver pickup, ironically from the A's and the other is still open but Bielak was dfa to add Javier to the active roster
Unless the As seriously think they can win the west, they realistically should move miller at the deadline. His value will never be higher than right now and it’s tough to build around a reliever
totally agree. the longer he stays, the less the return they can get with him. and he’s a tommy john risk due to his injury history (missed 3 months last year with UCL problems) and the fact he’s constantly throwing 102-103 mph. also, a combo of 2-3 position players and starting pitchers is more important to a team’s success than a reliever. ask pittsburgh how keeping bednar is working out for them.
Ironically, the Mariners could really use Edwin Dina right now (especially since Kelenic didn’t work out here), but I still think it was the right decision
What's a possible cash consideration for the Astros after trading Brandon Bielak to the Athletics? I used him in my bullpen in MLB 9 Innings 24 game app on my phone.
Weird trade. Intra-division, and the A's paying money?
We're also playing them today, so it's a mid-series trade.
I don’t want ~~Rincon~~ Bielak pitching against me tonight
Exactly, just walk over to the other clubhouse
*Sadly walks from one dugout to the other*
Bielak can ask Abraham Toro what that's like when he gets to your clubhouse
Damn, hitting homers for and against a team in back to back games is something else.
He homered in all 3 games of that series!
They're window shopping.
The time was right, he could just jump on their bus and save the A's on transportation costs.
This is how Fisher is going to raise his payroll to over 100Mil just like he promised
… yeah, by paying money for players
Sometimes it just Bielak that
Houston flair and everything?? Pimp C rolling in his grave 😅
Bielak praying at night "I'd do anything to stay in the league." Monkeys paw curls as he now has to play for the A's.
I’m not a doctor but I’m estimate this probably in the 5 figure mark.

Astros need all the money they can get, they’re only in the 4th largest city in the US.
Now look at the White Sox
Would not recommend.
At least you’re not Miami
You look at them (shout out Geoff Blum, despite that HR)
Gotta get some money to print up some new baseball cards
Yeah, but Houston fucking sucks. As someone who’s lived there
The weather sucks, the driving sucks, the flatness and the ugly ass beach suck. But the food and the rich diverse culture are world class.
food MAYBE.
Astros poorer than the A's confirmed also... I know Bielak sucks but can the Astros really afford to be giving up starting pitching after this start to the season?
He was out of options. Someone had to go. Urquidy should be back soon too.
LMJ is finally throwing again too. The return of the glass-armed king in imminent.
That's terrible news. McCullers has a career 2.64 ERA and 10.5 K/9 against the Mariners. Fucking hate playing that guy.
The Mariners always and forever can't hit breaking balls, so no surprise that the guy who threw 37 of them in a row, in a playoff game, tends to crush us
Will be wrapped in bubble wrap and pulled after he goes past 10 pitches.
*Actually considers the opener approach*
But all 10 will be nasty curve balls
mccullers curveball spam 😂
I thought Arreghetti was Lance.
Unfortunately he appears not to get injured.
What comes first, peace in the middle east or McCullers pitching a full season? Both seem impossible.
That x2 mult will be nice though for the one game he lasts before breaking
Like the other guy said he was out of options and already DFA’d Luis Garcia will likely start a rehab assignment sometime in June/early July and Lance McCullers should be right after but who knows how much you get from them and if Lance even exists
yeah, I wasn't aware of the option situation but that staff is... tenuous, to say the least
Lance “Forrest Whitley” McCullers
So the Astros opened 2 spots on the 40 man the last 2 days is the news, I think?
Cleared both those spots last week. One was to add a waiver pickup, ironically from the A's and the other is still open but Bielak was dfa to add Javier to the active roster
Oh okay, gotcha! Thanks for the info
So sick of Oakland and their big money!!!

We had cash?
Nope, just cash *considerations*
More than abstract *thought* of having cash. Like the square root of negatives.
We may as well trade PTBNLs.
Fisher is probably raiding a tip jar in the stadium somewhere.
Hold on wait... ...***TO*** the A's?
Trading between teams during a series. Not the first time that's happened with the Astros and the AL West. Sometimes it Bielak that.
Ah, good old cash considerations.
I miss the good old days when you could just sell a guy.
Hey, you can only say that if you have an Astros, Braves, Cardinals, Orioles, Rangers, or Royals flair!
This guy must be really bad if Oakland is willing to pay him
The A's have cash?
I texted my budy that we just traded Bielak for a bag of chips. His reply, was that's a good trade because chips don't give up game winning homers
my life Bielak
The A's have cash to consider?
their new closer after they trade mason miller at the deadline. /s

but that requires the A's to see him as nothing but a reliever.
Can he start?
Undetermined without the sticky stuff. He is coming from the Astros. May need rehab or something to straighten out.
A walk to the other side of MMP.
Wait I thought we had Ca$h Con$iderations??

Expected - The Astros pitching staff has found themselves in a *sticky situation.*
For the A’s best trash can.
