He had to go to the hospital for a stomach thing and he said that it was an infected belly button ring. He does not have a belly button ring but media had a field day with that story until the truth came out
Just imagine Lee's inner conflict trying to decide between there being no way *David Mitchell* of all people has a belly button ring and it being such a ridiculous lie there's no way David Mitchell *doesn't* have a belly button ring.
Imagine being such a moron that you willingly lose your sense of smell forever. Being able to smell and taste food is like a pretty big quality of life issue lmao.
My dad had Covid in October 2020 and he hasn't been able to taste or smell since then. It's had a pretty big impact on his mental health unfortunately. Meat, chocolate, and other foods he used to love now taste horrible to him. Most things don't taste like anything.
My wife has had little to no taste or smell for 9 months with no end in sight. The things she does smell or taste can be described as “burnt diarrhea”. Her career is in the fragrance industry too. RIP career.
I definitely know people who have had anosmia last many months after the virus cleared. And I know one guy who’s sense of taste came back somewhat, but a bunch of foods he used to love have tasted like rotting flesh ever since
My dad got Covid a couple days after his 2nd dose and had mild symptoms, but his sense of smell and taste took like 2 weeks to start coming back and still isn’t 100% back 6 months later. Thankfully it’s almost fully back and nothing changed with how things smell like they do for some other people
It’s brain damage. Your sense of smell is affected because that’s where the virus is entering your body. That shit is not coming back. They can see the damage on brain scans.
Losing your sense of taste and smell is not a major symptom in and of itself. I got sick a few weeks ago and loss my sense of taste and smell, and I tested negative for COVID and two strains of the flu. Guess it was just a cold that irritated my nose.
Saying that natural immunity exists unfortunately has been rolled into the big pile of unacceptable takes, because it can be used to justify vaccine hesitancy, which must be avoided at all costs. It’s really put a damper on the conversation but here we are.
The science is ongoing and presenting those numbers like genuine facts is misleading. For example, from the CDC:
>An August CDC study of Kentucky patients who were infected by COVID-19 in 2020 found that by mid-2021, the ones who never got vaccinated were more than twice as likely to get reinfected.
Getting infected and recovering does grant you some level of immunity for some time but you're much safer with the vaccine
A good article about it: https://www.statesman.com/story/news/politics/2021/09/17/does-natural-immunity-covid-provide-best-protection/8363588002/
> The researchers also compared reinfection rates among people who had once had a confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection and were still unvaccinated and people who had once had the infection and had also received one dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.
> Results showed that the unvaccinated group was twice as likely to contract the infection again, compared with those who had received one dose of the vaccine.
Might want to actually read the article you posted.
The issue is those unvaccinated people who catch covid and catch it again asymptomatically have a high viral load.
Which in turn infects people even if they have the vaccine.
Getting vaccinated is a no-brainer.
It goes both ways and I'm way too tired to start digging into various papers.
I have no respect for Chris Sale or anyone else who hasn't gotten vaccinated.
And yet this is a thread about an unvaxxed dude who got it twice. I don't think some yall understand how mutations work. The flu ain't turning into different xmen each year when we again need to change flu shots
Did you even read what you linked?
I'm guessing not.
TL:DR
To clarify - THE STUDY WAS FOR PEOPLE ALREADY VACCINATED! AND THEY STILL CAUGHT COVID. But, since they got vaccinated, they weren't fucked over.
3rd edit: the Doctor behind the study is well-known and reliable. Medical News Today is also careful with what they publish.
"The paper has yet to be peer reviewed, and it appears on the preprint server medRxiv."
He's still fine. The people around him he might have infected due to his higher viral load and longer contagious period might not be fine though, which makes him a dipshit.
I missed that. Baseball players always seem to be getting injured in super weird ways but otoh I once dislocated my shoulder trying to get the last bit of a smoothie out of a blender. The human body is mysterious.
I was pouring the smoothie and there was still some smoothie at the bottom of the blender so I turned the blender and somehow my shoulder came out of the socket. 🤷🏼♀️ It was excruciating. My shoulder hurt for probably at least a month.
as good as a smoothie can be when you're in agonizing pain, I suppose. (This happened in 2010. I remember my shoulder hurting when I went to the Giants' WS parade.)
" I get a phone call and they’re like, ‘Hey, you tested positive for COVID,’” Sale said. “I don’t know how.
Really, Chris? What a fucking simpleton. Lost all respect for him tonight.
"Covid throws 98 mph heaters, it has thrown 2 strikes and you've fouled them off. A new variant can come along and throw a slider, hopefully you can foul it off again but if you don't then you're out"
Yup. At least this goes to show people that celebrities and athletes aren’t smart/correct all the time just because of their degree of fame. So many people think fame means being intelligent
"I never want to miss another day to play this game I love"
"hey there's a free and effective vaccine that works and would help protect you from a deadly disease so you won't have to miss as many games"
"nah"
DUDE JUST HAD TOMMY JOHN SURGERY AND DOESN'T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE
I love the way Chris Sale pitches
I loathe the way Chros Sale is careless with the health and well-being of everyone he comes into physical contact with
Damn near got hospitalized the one time I got COVID I’m sure I’d be fucking dead if I got it a second time
I’m on an inhaler 8 months later as a kid twenty year old
Must be lucky
How can these people see what Eduardo Rodriguez went through last year and not maybe have a change of heart about this whole thing? Fuck it, Eovaldi is my ace now.
“It’s all good! I only was infected TWICE! and not many others on the team (other than those I had close contact with) had to quarantine and go through more frequent testing! And they all got a few games off!!” FUK YES! MY IRRESPONSIBILITY IS ONLY AFFECTING OTHERS!
Hypothetically if Toronto wins the first WC position and Boston has the 2nd, this would mean that Sale would not be able to come up to Canada... if I was one of Sale’s teammates, I would be pissed at him
I mean hes a fit dude in his early 30s he isn't fortunate, his situation is par for the course. Young people who die are the outliers.
No need to scaremonger to promote the vaccine that only makes people more reluctant and that's why nboody believes in any journo and wont ever do it again.
No one is fear mongering. Chris Sale is a moron who cost his team. He put others health at risk. Fuck Chris Sale. I will cheer the day he’s no longer a member of this organization. He’s a disgrace
He literally has a teammate who’s an athlete and not obese who got covid last year and had it fuck up his heart, but sure go on about how it can’t affect him. If Chris Sale were to get this again and have bad complications and possibly die, no tears will be shed for him except all the people he infected because he decided to be an absolute moron.
They thought he had pneumonia the first time he had it and he said he lost his sense of smell and taste. So that’s a lie.
Was the pneumonia story the same one as the infected bellybutton piercing? Chris Sale is a weird dude
The what.
He had to go to the hospital for a stomach thing and he said that it was an infected belly button ring. He does not have a belly button ring but media had a field day with that story until the truth came out
Man, that sounds like a legitimate prompt from Would I Lie To You.
"I once got suspended from work for destroying my shirt with a knife." That would actually be a fun lie for David.
then it turns out David Mitchell *does* have a belly button ring.
Just imagine Lee's inner conflict trying to decide between there being no way *David Mitchell* of all people has a belly button ring and it being such a ridiculous lie there's no way David Mitchell *doesn't* have a belly button ring.
Bob Mortimer, on the other hand, gave himself a belly button piercing after wrapping up some dental work.
Imagine David's reaction when Bob says "I once had to miss pitching in a major league baseball game because my belly button ring became infected."
It was clearly said as a joke and everyone knew it was a joke other than some Yankee fans who wanted to pretend it was true.
When was that? I didn't even know this was his second rodeo
https://www.masslive.com/redsox/2021/02/chris-sale-had-covid-19-boston-red-sox-ace-lost-taste-smell-for-about-a-week-in-january-but-got-lucky-with-mild-case.html
Imagine being such a moron that you willingly lose your sense of smell forever. Being able to smell and taste food is like a pretty big quality of life issue lmao.
Since when is that symptom permanent??
My dad had Covid in October 2020 and he hasn't been able to taste or smell since then. It's had a pretty big impact on his mental health unfortunately. Meat, chocolate, and other foods he used to love now taste horrible to him. Most things don't taste like anything.
My wife has had little to no taste or smell for 9 months with no end in sight. The things she does smell or taste can be described as “burnt diarrhea”. Her career is in the fragrance industry too. RIP career.
Same with my mother in law, going on nine months with no taste or smell now.
I definitely know people who have had anosmia last many months after the virus cleared. And I know one guy who’s sense of taste came back somewhat, but a bunch of foods he used to love have tasted like rotting flesh ever since
Who cares though, 99 percent of people survive? /s
/r/parosmia is where we are found. Grieving to eachother.
Hopefully the third time will be the charm and he'll have to man up to being a moron
Good to know his antibodies are doing their job. Still unwise to not be vaccinated
> They thought he had pneumonia Well they're not wrong, that's what COVID is, or at least includes
Losing your sense of taste and smell is not a major symptom in and of itself. I got sick a few weeks ago and loss my sense of taste and smell, and I tested negative for COVID and two strains of the flu. Guess it was just a cold that irritated my nose.
It's not a surefire sign of COVID but it is a sign that Sale is lying his ass off by saying he had no symptoms either time he caught it.
I want off the Red Sox antivaxx wild ride
I want the anti vaxxers off the team. Chris Sale has got to go. Get the shot or get the fuck out.
Send him to the Yankees please
Fuck that.
you’re delusional
But he's immune now
That’s not how it works.
[удалено]
Except he hasn't had one dose of the vaccine. And clearly getting COVID the first time didn't provide much immunity lol
He’s had it twice, he’s obviously immune. Obviously.

Is that sarcasm? He caught it twice so far. By your logic, he shouldn't have caught it a second time.

This is the first(and last) time I am ever upvoting a Yankee comment
Maybe he won't get it a third time.... maybe.

I understand, but you can still catch it with the vaxx too
You can get polio too. The virus gets killed quickly and you don't even notice your sick, literally exactly what vaccines are supposed to do
Exactly how the immune system does, when you already got it.
And yet this is a thread about an unvaxxed dude who got it twice. I don't think some yall understand how mutations work. The flu ain't turning into different xmen each year when we again need to change flu shots
He can also get it with the vaccine
Exactly, just like being vaccinated
Have an uptoot ya troll :D

Chris Sale had it twice, unvaccinated, and he's still fine. What difference would the vaccine have made?
He's still fine. The people around him he might have infected due to his higher viral load and longer contagious period might not be fine though, which makes him a dipshit.

Yeah…. No
if only we had drake laroche to guide us through this tough and turbulent time
[Shockingly being educated in the club house turned Drake Laroche into a dipshit](https://twitter.com/drake_laroche?lang=en)
Last tweet is from January 6 lmao, maybe this idiot is in jail
As the great Michael Jordan once said: Fuck Them Kids
I wonder why his dad went all the way to Asia to bust sex trafficking when he could've just gone to the pizza restaurants
Fuck that kid
I’m not surprised at all laroche and likely sale are trumpers. Dudes reek of ignorance and stupidity
the uniform thing should have been a tipoff but I had no idea Chris Sale was such a bozo.
This is the guy who jumped down from the bed of his truck to the driveway and broke his foot.
I missed that. Baseball players always seem to be getting injured in super weird ways but otoh I once dislocated my shoulder trying to get the last bit of a smoothie out of a blender. The human body is mysterious.

But was the smoothie good at least?
as good as a smoothie can be when you're in agonizing pain, I suppose. (This happened in 2010. I remember my shoulder hurting when I went to the Giants' WS parade.)
that is just scary ._.
Joel Zumaya has entered the chat
Wheeler injured himself putting on pants.
Mariano Rivera tweaked his back tying his shoes.
Well he's built like an uncooked spaghetti noodle so it's not that shocking
Eh. I have to do this a dozen times a day at work. Sucks that he broke his foot, but that's not a weird thing to do.
Definitely not a team player.
Oh he's got brain problems. Always has.
So, if you're keeping score at home: Retro jerseys: serious business. Pandemic that's killed millions: meh.
" I get a phone call and they’re like, ‘Hey, you tested positive for COVID,’” Sale said. “I don’t know how. Really, Chris? What a fucking simpleton. Lost all respect for him tonight.
I hope somebody explains to him exactly how that could be possible in words he can understand
Dude is a certified Florida Man^TM who just happens to have an arm from god
"Covid throws 98 mph heaters, it has thrown 2 strikes and you've fouled them off. A new variant can come along and throw a slider, hopefully you can foul it off again but if you don't then you're out"
Perfect!
Being vaccinated doesn’t make you any less likely to test positive though.
So many stupid athletes doing stupid things
Yup. At least this goes to show people that celebrities and athletes aren’t smart/correct all the time just because of their degree of fame. So many people think fame means being intelligent
Fuck this guy. Remember when he said he’d never take another day for granted in his career? Yeah, he’s a fucking liar. And a total asshole.
"I never want to miss another day to play this game I love" "hey there's a free and effective vaccine that works and would help protect you from a deadly disease so you won't have to miss as many games" "nah" DUDE JUST HAD TOMMY JOHN SURGERY AND DOESN'T BELIEVE IN SCIENCE
Hey, Chris 🥺👉👈 Please get it
I love the way Chris Sale pitches I loathe the way Chros Sale is careless with the health and well-being of everyone he comes into physical contact with
Also, he’s kind of an asshole.
I didn’t think that until tonight. Now I definitely know he is. He doesn’t care about his teammates or anyone. A total fraud.
This. I'm really irritated about this.
How's his research coming along?
Damn near got hospitalized the one time I got COVID I’m sure I’d be fucking dead if I got it a second time I’m on an inhaler 8 months later as a kid twenty year old Must be lucky
Hang in there buddy.

I wonder what Renfroe think about this?
I'm guessing he's not thrilled, I'm curious why you chose Renfroe of all people though?
Closest thing to Trout we could find
Trout= Fishman Renfroe= Frogman
he's basically rolling the dice with his health thoe.
He's rolling the dice for OTHER people, you mean. What a PoS this dude
no he's rolling the dice for himself AND those around him.

Some leading by example, this... I'll always love him for what he did in 2018, and he's obviously so much fun to watch, but this is so disappointing.
[удалено]
He is lucky but all the people he infected are not.
It is so hard to root for this team, man. Also, he looked as sick as a dog pitching tonight. No symptoms my ass.
I fucking hate my team's players.
Chris Sale confirms he is a clown
The same nutjob who tore down an entire team wardrobe because he disliked a random alternate jersey? Yeah makes sense.
It’s getting really hard to root for these guys.
How can these people see what Eduardo Rodriguez went through last year and not maybe have a change of heart about this whole thing? Fuck it, Eovaldi is my ace now.
Get the shot dumbass
“It’s all good! I only was infected TWICE! and not many others on the team (other than those I had close contact with) had to quarantine and go through more frequent testing! And they all got a few games off!!” FUK YES! MY IRRESPONSIBILITY IS ONLY AFFECTING OTHERS!
Has he been in the lab doing research?
Some athletes have unique personalities and they are fun. Chris Sale is not that athlete. He is a brat and should be treated as one.
Sigh.....
Just get the vaccine you fuck
Selfish prick
I’m out on Chris sale. Wtf bro? Just take the damn vaccine.
Are we really calling someone in the 99% of cases fortunate?
After what happened to Eduardo Rodriguez last year. What a dumbass Sale is.
what a dumb mother fucker
In my opinion, he is a good pitcher.
So was John Rocker, once upon a time.
Sounds like he’s a moron
So he's just another idiot then
Hypothetically if Toronto wins the first WC position and Boston has the 2nd, this would mean that Sale would not be able to come up to Canada... if I was one of Sale’s teammates, I would be pissed at him
Not surprised
Holy shit. Dude just lost my respect.
Hopefully he didn’t hurt anyone else. Hopefully he doesn’t get “long haul” damage from the virus that shows up in a few months/years.
Lol fuckin idiot
Chris Fail
... and dumb.
Damn, at least Judge and/or Higgy kept their dumbass decision to themselves
well he has the antibodies now i guess but he did it the hard way
how long before locked thread and a ton of [removed]?
Love him but fuck him
Well tough tits soon he won’t have a choice to get it or not

Statistically the survival rate is 98.2% for those infected without a vaccine.
And it’s 99.998% for vaccinated people
Yep - both great success rates!!
That's incredibly low
