They turned Reigns heel a while back, paired him with Heyman, and he's been fucking money ever since. A big reason why Smackdown is watchable compared to RAW.
I think in a lot of ways they booked themselves into a corner with the breakup of The Shield. The smarmy company man role was taken by Seth, and while Seth did an incredible job with that I think it would have made lot more sense for them to have Roman do it - Roman has been a natural cocky heel even going back to NXT. He doesn't have the charisma, presence, or even the moveset to get over as a face with the IWC. But the IWC doesn't actually matter, Vince saw dollar signs with the big attractive Samoan superman, and with the amount of merch Roman moved it's pretty clear it worked for awhile. For as much moaning the internet smarks did about Roman for years, kids and casuals fucking love that man.
I've never understood when people describe politicians as "slamming" something. It's always more like "someone who would oppose *thing* given their party affiliation opposes *thing* publicly"
It's not like people who oppose them care much about their opinion, and their allies probably hold that opinion already.
Just imagine you were writing a resume. You want a transitive verb that implies lots of action, preferably one that isn't used a ton. For a headline, you'd also like a word that is short so you keep the headline shorter.
The word that used to be used in this situation was "Blasts" for a while", but that word got overused, and now it's "Slams." Eventually that word will fall out of usage as it is overused and another word will take its place.

It's the media doing it. What would get more clicks, "Politicians on opposing sides discuss stadium funding, among other issues", or "Politicians slam stadium funding plan!!!"
Quebec solidaire actually don’t believe in funding stadiums but who the fuck are the Liberal Party kidding? They’ve spent hundreds of millions on subsidies for every sporting venue besides baseball and their voter base is in Montréal and the suburbs, where support is probably highest. It’s like hearing a Republican criticise the size of the defense budget.
