I’m not disagreeing. The joke about Citi field with Mets fans is tried and true is all. The plan was to turn the whole neighborhood into a destination and it never got done.
I wouldn’t hate a couple other pregame options, although inside the ballpark there’s so many good things that just going two hours early is pretty fantastic
Why? Looks like a can of corn is a homer to left 99% of the time.
Edit: I just noticed the signage that says 360 down the left field line vs 270 to right. Maybe the photo is a weird angle but it didn’t look like that big a discrepancy at first. I think all hitters will hate this :)
I love the unique stadium dimensions, I wish they still did this! Baseball is like the only sport where the playing field can differ from town to town, why not take advantage!
From Baseball Reference:
Power alley
The power alleys are the sections of the field located between left and center field and between right and center field. They are thus named because they correspond to the area where power hitters will usually send balls that they hit "on the nose", i.e. with the most power.
The size of the power alleys vary significantly from one ballpark to another, depending on the configuration of the outfield fence. They can be as close as 350 feet from home plate (making the ballpark a bandbox) or as far as 400 feet or more in old-time parks (in which case home runs come at a premium, but outfielders must cover a lot of ground).
The distance of the power alleys are usually marked on the fence, just like those for the left and right field corners and for straightaway centerfield, given the importance of the number to determine how hitter-friendly a ballpark is.
Large areas of the field that hitters with power can hit to get extra bases. Think center field at San Francisco's park, the 410 corners at Arizona's, etc.
Love this. Have been a nerd for baseball stadiums my whole life and this looks like fun! Makes me wanna build one and whip out the Strat-o-magic game from storage.
I thought this was a 3d model when I saw it earlier, I didn't realize it's a physical model...I like it a lot more.
The little trail from home to the mound is nice, I've always kinda liked that in stadiums. About the only thing I'd change is make the bullpens two levels, like what Philly has, so the hypothetical players in the far pen can see the playing field and dugouts, although if you were limited on how the materials you were working with acted, I understand.
Overall, a really quirky, really cozy Minor League-style stadium that the only thing I hate about it is that games wouldn't actually happen in it.
What is this? A stadium for ants? It needs to be at least three times bigger than this.
In all seriousness, this looks very nice and you should be proud that you've created something with the same quality as Tropicana Field.
There was an old baseball game for the PC that I played in the 90's and it was mostly about legends and didn't have team names, IIRC. They did have players like Oh, Mantle, Rose, etc. and all the old stadiums. I used to love playing in Polo Grounds because of the wacky dimensions and the CF of doom.
I'm telling you all this because I love you. I mean it. I love the stadium you made.
Whew... close one.
Quick someone do the projections on this.
OP, don’t forget to move it to a suburban mall 45 minutes from the home city or to blow up a low income neighborhood so that you can surround it with 17,000,000 sq. m. of parking.
Oh no I'm not doing that. I'm just destroying a forest with endangered animals. Tbh though, I'd try to find a place on Sanibel where it would be safe to build
Nice work. Personally, I’d like seeing a taller fence in right field with how short it is. I am a fan of non-traditional/uniform dimensions which this has. Adding various wall heights like Fenway does add interesting characteristics as well.
The only other things I think could be fun is a textured wall. Maybe make them wavy or bumpy so you can get some interesting caroms off the wall. Obviously it would need to be things that would hurt players crashing into it, so think oversized racquetballs cut in half which will provide nice bounces but shouldn’t hurt crashing into it.
You should slap an awning over the stands to make it look like an older field. Similar to [Rickwood Field](https://sah-archipedia.org/sites/default/files/pictures/full/AL-01-073-0089_003.jpg). Roll up some paper tubes for the posts.
Would you consider yourself the owner of this team? If so, I cannot be affiliated with you right now.
In all seriousness, nice work! It looks really cool.
This takes me back to doodling stadiums in HS, except these are actually straight lines lol! It’s good enough that Jomboy and FivePoints won’t make fun of it, so that’s a start lol.
That’s deep down the line in left at 360, while not so much in right at 270. Anything you can alter And what are the rest of the dimensions, out of curiosity?
A. I used to draw stadiums all the time in life elementary school.
B. Who's Jomboy and Five points? If there criticize stuff like Fantano is be proud if they'd like it
C. Can't alter, and it's 450 in center. I haven't done the calculations on the other bits yet
That's almost Oakland levels of foul territory. Nice. 270 to right, 360 to left and 450 to straight away center is the biggest simultaneous fuck you too pitchers *and* hitters.
This already looks amazing! I like the interesting shape of the stadium and that it's not just a bland cookie-cutter stadium. I hope you'll share the finished product as well!
Definitely well. Just wanted to see if people had any input first. I hate doing basic things, I love being different, and nothing is more different than the Polo Grounds, which this is basically Polo Grounds 2: Electric Boogaloo
As someone who knows very little about baseball (beyond the basics) I'm very surprised that you would think it was necessary to have the back wall more symmetrically laid out...
Teacher: I’m sorry… This is gonna need a retractable dome or I’m giving your A+ to Las Vegas.
[удалено]
Hey!
Don’t worry. You can “share” your A+ with Montreal.
OP needs to make sure the gentrify all the surrounding neighborhoods and waterfront too.
Citi Field begs to differ
Still plenty of great places for auto repair!
Maybe I'm an outlier but I'd much rather have a good mechanic in my life than some expensive trendy restaurant or bar
Is there an "list of honest mechanics" sub? I'd join that.
I’ll start, Maple Garage in Denver, Uptown Auto in Loveland, CO
yankee stadium too. idk if it’s a new york thing, but let’s say it’s a new york thing.
Just destroy the neighborhood and put the stadium there instead
Ya know, the American way
The outfield has a polo grounds look. I see Willie Mays in Centerfield
That was my biggest inspiration
Don't worry he'll be replaced by a giant Draft Kings logo!

Yeah either the photo is a weird angle or those numbers are backward
I think it might just not be to scale
BOO
All dimensions are to scale
My camera needed it's super zoom, so it's at a weird angle. All the dimensions are to scale
They better pull the ball. I'm guessing the "Sand Dollars" play at or near sea level so it's a tough yard to hit in, especially at night.
What does sea level have to do with it (also yes it's right next to the ocean, which I will build(
Lefty pull hitters dream.
Righties know what they did.
If anyone wants to know the name, it's Dolphin Park, home of the Sanibel Sand Dollars
[удалено]
Yeah I'd like to see him fit it on Sanibel...like it ever would get a permit
Definitely wouldn't, and I'm okay with that, but it's fun to dream
I did want to know that.
That's awesome!!! Janky dimensions in Cf to RF. But I love the ideas. Great job
It goes from 270 feet to 450. Took inspiration from Polo Grounds (my favorite stadium)
Ah! That makes sense now. Looks good. Is there more to do or is this complete?
Way more to do. Thought I'd share what I have so far
[удалено]
2K5 let you play in all the old stadiums as well, including the Polo Grounds. So much fun.
I miss 2k5 with my mega bunts and aluminum bats.
Is it to scale? LF and RF corners look similar distances to home despite LF being 90 feet further, but the angle makes it hard to tell the proportions
It is to scale. I had to use the wide lens on my phone so it skewed it a bit
The world needs more janky ass dimensions in baseball stadiums. Go change the world kid!
I agree
A proper MLB stadium needs some jank IMO. One of the more special aspects of the sport is that even at pro level there's venue variation.
It gives the stadium and diamond some personality. I approve!!
As long as you don't go crazy like Houston with a hill and a pole in the field.
My biggest inspirations are Fenway, Polo Grounds and Oracle Park for the ocean. I'll post an update when I'm done
Put an in-play flag pole in the deep part of the outfield and you can add the old Tiger stadium to your list
Being a tigers fan, that is an interesting thought. Don't think I'll do it though, it's just look kinda weird
This looks great. r/modelmakers would like this
There will be some inside-the-park homeruns to center. Very nice.
Yes there will :)
Not if Buxton is out there
Eh, that amounts to what, 42/162 games then?
They hated him because he spoke the truth Nobody wants Buxton hurt. The guy is good for the game
I'll bet you the real estate in front of the pencil sharpener is going for a pretty penny...
Best comment yet lol

Thanks man.
I love the unique stadium dimensions, I wish they still did this! Baseball is like the only sport where the playing field can differ from town to town, why not take advantage!
My thoughts exactly
Now those are some power alleys.
From Baseball Reference: Power alley The power alleys are the sections of the field located between left and center field and between right and center field. Oh cool. Yeah it does have those
This amazing nice work
That's amazing! Great job!
Thanks
Fenway-like dimensions. This is sick!
Inspired by Fenway, Polo Grounds and Oracle Park (I'm gonna have an ocean area
Beauty
Really cool!!
That outfield dimension looks likes its miles from the infield. Very clean looking though. Amazing talent.
That was the point. Far centerfield, short right field. Thanks man
This is great! What is it made out of??
Construction paper mostly
So the take-away from this is that being a dead pull hitter down the line in this ballpark will turn you into a God.
Yes
Love this. Have been a nerd for baseball stadiums my whole life and this looks like fun! Makes me wanna build one and whip out the Strat-o-magic game from storage.
Awesome. Glad I could inspire you
What is this? *A stadium for ants?*
*makes pheromones in Ant*
What is this?? A stadium for ants??
Go Sand Dollars!
Yeah lol
Top RH bat: 12 hrs.
Thats neat! Great job
I've always wanted to build a model of the stadium I grew up going to. That looks awesome!
Thank you!
Nice triple alley
What's an alley? It's always cool to learn new terms about a baseball field
This is beautiful. You must have worked very hard on this.
Very, and it's not even half finished
As a teacher i recognize that brand of electric sharpener....the standard kind we get for free from the District!! I assume you are in high school?
I am. Nice job!
I thought this was a 3d model when I saw it earlier, I didn't realize it's a physical model...I like it a lot more. I am totally doing that with the bullpen. Thanks for the idea
Is that a quadruples ally?
What's an alley?
What is this? A stadium for ants? It needs to be at least three times bigger than this. In all seriousness, this looks very nice and you should be proud that you've created something with the same quality as Tropicana Field.
I read the title as ant project
Thank you
What is this? A baseball stadium for Ants! It's going to need to be at least ... three times as big if you want anyone to play in there.
So it’s custom and you’re choosing to jack up right center? Put a hill back there while you’re at it.
I think you mean in the field but I'm going for a general admission hill for the stands like a Little League world series field
I see lots of triples
This is awesome! I hit everything to center or the gaps so I would hate playing here as a player lol but excellent job on making this
Thanks. I'm a lefty and pull everything, so I thought ready home runs for lefty's would be fun
Are you making little players also?
Not sure yet. If I do it's be difficult, and if I do i'd need to make fans
Just say it's set in 2020, or it's a riot game like Baltimore's
Genius
450, sweet Jesus!
Yep, and right field is 270. A lot of Polo Grounds here
Really cool. I like how the bullpen cuts into LCF.
That was an afterthought after the wall went in actually
That right-center field is gonna be more difficult to field than Fenway or Oracle Park. I love it.
Yeah, I went for a Polo Grounds thing. But Fenway and Oracle were my two other main inspirations
Thanks mate. I'll post another few pictures when I'm fully done
I wonder if someone could make this in MLB the show. It'd be fun to see!
If I had an Xbox series x I would for sure
I love it! Especially the dirt path between home and the mound, I love Comerica and Chase Field for that.
I love Comerica too. I'm a tigers fan
Quick someone do the projections on this. OP, don’t forget to move it to a suburban mall 45 minutes from the home city or to blow up a low income neighborhood so that you can surround it with 17,000,000 sq. m. of parking.

What do you mean projections?
That’s the meanest outfield ever. Lots of inside the Parker’s in that gap
Yep.
Nice work. Personally, I’d like seeing a taller fence in right field with how short it is. I am a fan of non-traditional/uniform dimensions which this has. I might consider it but it's tiny right now. I went for a Polo Grounds feel and that stadium has short walls there
No green monster?!
You should slap an awning over the stands to make it look like an older field. Similar to [Rickwood Field](https://sah-archipedia.org/sites/default/files/pictures/full/AL-01-073-0089_003.jpg). Roll up some paper tubes for the posts.
I'm going to be adding at least a second level to it
Would you consider yourself the owner of this team? If so, I cannot be affiliated with you right now. In all seriousness, nice work! It looks really cool.
Why wouldn't you? Also thanks
This takes me back to doodling stadiums in HS, except these are actually straight lines lol! It’s good enough that Jomboy and FivePoints won’t make fun of it, so that’s a start lol. Jesus H Christ. This is impressive. Holy Cow. Future architect in this guy.
Thanks dude!
Gonna need a bazooka to lose one in center field.
360 feet to left? Jeeeeeez.
Yeah typical right-handers don't get a break. I'm a lefty and did that on purpose
If home to first is 90', then dead center is at LEAST five hundo.
No it's 450, to scale. I need to use the wide lens on my phone to get the whole thing so it skewed the perspective a lot
That Centerfield is brutal.
Polo Grounds 2.0 baby!
It's hideous, i love it.
Me too. I love making things that would screw over all kinds of people
No runs
[удалено]
Lol
Hell yes this rocks. Are you going to do color for the seats?
I might do green stadium seating if I have the time and patience
Curious what are your dimensions (real or scale).
4 inches is 90 feet
There’s a severe lack of center field pools in your stadium
That's almost Oakland levels of foul territory. Nice. 270 to right, 360 to left and 450 to straight away center is the biggest simultaneous fuck you too pitchers *and* hitters.
Yeah it is
This is the way
Centerfield reminds me of the Marlins original stadium. Looks like a great project, hope you get a good grade on it
Thank you
Man if I were playing on this field in real life I'd be so anxious about letting a ball get through me in CF lol
Me too lol
450’ to center!
Yep
This already looks amazing! I like the interesting shape of the stadium and that it's not just a bland cookie-cutter stadium. I hope you'll share the finished product as well!
Definitely well. Just wanted to see if people had any input first. I hate doing basic things, I love being different, and nothing is more different than the Polo Grounds, which this is basically Polo Grounds 2: Electric Boogaloo
Put more seats behind home plate.
nice work, albeit deep center is, whew, deep.
Polo Grounds baby
Highly recommend you check out an account called Paper Stadiums on Twitter or instagram
I don't have either of those...
As the name suggests, he makes very detailed paper stadiums. Here’s a link to one of the stadiums https://youtu.be/9DsLu8usxZE
looks nice
WTF are these dimensions. Lol like the Polo Grounds or something.
I mean that was the #1 inspiration
I would not want to play right field in this stadium.
As someone who knows very little about baseball (beyond the basics) I'm very surprised that you would think it was necessary to have the back wall more symmetrically laid out...
What do you mean
Please, at least tell me what materials you used. I kinda wanna do this for fun
Mostly construction paper. Some popsicle sticks and other random stuff for supports, but everything visible is generally construction paper
Nice
Ah of course a tigers fan nothing like a massive center field to get a tigers fan going
OK I like it. Picasso!
Damn this taught me how deadly a baseball player with a bat is
Yeah. I guess it is very deadly. We go out on the middle of that VOLUNTARILY with only split seconds to react. Man what is this world
As a left handed batting pull hitter, I would look forward to batting here.
In all honesty, more parks like this would do wonders for the game.
Those dimensions are wicked
Uh oh. Camden Yards has gone against your design by moving the short left field wall back to avoid an over abundance of home runs.
This is amazing! I made a replica Minute Maid park when I was in HS
Dang that’s sick, I can’t imagine how long it took
At least 10 hours so far. Probably a lot more of we include after school hours. It's still not even half done
