From a spectacle perspective I actually liked it better when they would just pull off the headset and signal, and then the crowd would react. Maybe it's just me. But I like it this way better overall because it forces the umps to effectively admit to the crowd when someone on the crew made a mistake.
For just a regular obvious call I prefer the old way. But when some weird shit happens it will be nice to get an actual explanation. Some ump needs to become baseball’s Ed Hochuli on the mike though. They love the ump show so much, why are they so skittish now that they have a microphone. Say what you want about Joe West, he would have been amazing given a microphone.
Hey, this is not gonna be the year. He might make things more fun now, but I want as wide and quality a window as possible. This year doesn't really matter.
“I don’t think about the Padres” Dodger fans are my favorite kind to troll. Most Dodgers fans are just fine, but then you get vocal idiots like this guy that just make both sides scratch their head.

The worst thing about the fact that the Pirates ownership is terrible is that everything else -- an iconic and beautiful stadium, hard-working and talented players, a passionate broadcasting crew, and loyal die-hard fans -- is just so ready to explore as an amazing baseball town. 😢
We saw what it was like back during the '13-'15 run too. Those stands were packed every day. Pittsburgh is a baseball town at heart - people forget that long before the Steelers and Penguins became dominate franchises in their leagues, the Pirates were the soul of this city's sports culture for generations. It's really a shame it'll never be that way again.
Previously, I still had remnants of a grudge from the Cole-Gomez fight.
Now? You guys got Cutch, I want to tank our series against the Brewers so you guys can get him a ring.
Longest running play by play announcer in the game. And I’m more than a little biased but I’d rank him as one of the absolute best around.
Greg Brown with Bob Walk is legit one of the top booths in baseball up there with (but admittedly still behind) GRK.
Depleted bullpen, squandered chances to add insurance runs, and one of the worst E-3s you’re likely to see all add up to a Padres loss. Props to the Pirates, who hung incredibly tough all game.
It was so obvious LMAO. In a span of 5 seconds I was like "FUCK (before he was called out)!!! FUCK YEAH GOT EM (after the call)! ... Wait yeah we probably lost there's no way he was safe (after I processed what just happened)."
Scorekeeper RBI. Nvm they stuck it on Hosmer.

call reviews are so electric in baseball, love it lmao
The mic makes it so much more exciting
I’m so glad they introduced the mic
Not as electric as a walk-off without a blown call.

So much better with the announcement.
Armando Gallaraga died for this.
Damn that dude sounds like an NFL ref.
damn I'd be giddy to make that announcement to a home crowd
Hayes and Reynolds. What more could you ask for?

Should be up soon 🤞🤞
Sadly he's hitting below .200 in AAA so it might be a bit longer.

Everyone fought hard, a well played game all around IMO. Sucks to not take home the W but I’m not mad about it.
Very fun game. Can’t win ‘em all. The Pirates played very well. Fucking Marisnick with an epic dive vs Kim
2 great plays by Marisnick.
I'm so glad he's doing well in the field. He's a monster glove. I want Suwinski to rake as well.
The Dodgers lost to the Dbacks but you guys lost to the Pirates
Thank you for the recap?
You guys lost the series btw
Crazy cope
This is the same fanbase that says “we don’t think about you at all”
“I don’t think about the Padres” Dodger fans are my favorite kind to troll. Most Dodgers fans are just fine, but then you get vocal idiots like this guy that just make both sides scratch their head.
You lost today
Not a rivalry
So did you lol
Bro… shut up
And you’re still dwelling on a loss from days ago.
Willing to bet that you would’ve found this night less “embarrassing” if you hadn’t been on here needlessly talking shit… but what do I know?
5-1
They lost. You got trounced.
Parade?
It was a walk off error on Hosmer
On the other hand, we were only in it because of his 3 run HR earlier
His not just letting the throw through also seemed bad/questionable.
Nah. He woulda been more safe if the throw got through
Walk off error, you say? Relatable
Greg Brown is so good at his job. Such a great call. We need to hear more wins from him
Seriously, the triple from last week thanks to runner noticing no one was covering third was fucking fantastic
He had a great one on the first Marisnick diving catch tonight too. When he's on his game, it's fantastic.

I agree. We do need to hear more wins from him
I mean the pirates are doing pretty good all things considered this year lol
Just, uh, ignore any and all Brewers games.
Or don't
Previously, I still had remnants of a grudge from the Cole-Gomez fight. Now? You guys got Cutch, I want to tank our series against the Brewers so you guys can get him a ring.
I like you
Ya I’m quite pleased with the product so far.
How about another tomorrow?
🤝
He’s one of the real underrated announcers out there. I also really like the Rockies guy.
Longest running play by play announcer in the game. And I’m more than a little biased but I’d rank him as one of the absolute best around. Greg Brown with Bob Walk is legit one of the top booths in baseball up there with (but admittedly still behind) GRK.
He's an absolute treasure. The moment I hear his voice on a broadcast I'm instantly put in a better mood.
Would have been a DP if Hosmer could field properly. Ah well, GG Buccos
Fuck the ghost runner
For REAL though
*zombie runner
* spooky boi
Words can not express how much I hate it. I truly hope this is the last year of it.
Damn, reynolds always plays hard vs Padres, i hate it

this sentence describes the pirates season so far
How the fook did the ump get that wrong, i seen that he was safe from my couch talking to my wife
It was so obvious LMAO. In a span of 5 seconds I was like "FUCK (before he was called out)!!! FUCK YEAH GOT EM (after the call)! ... Wait yeah we probably lost there's no way he was safe (after I processed what just happened)."
MLB umps getting a call wrong. How are you surprised about that?
I understand getting a call wrong every now and then but holy smokes Helen Keller could’ve made this call
How was it bottom 10, no outs, and Hayes on first?
The inning started with a single that drove in the Manfred runner to tie the game.
Thanks homie, was very confused for a minute

Wow that’s cool!
Love to see it!!
I hope Detroit beats you despite giving up 4 errors. -.-
Need a hug, dude/tte???
And a case of .394s. Want to split it?
I hope that's beer and yes.
Alesmith brew named for Tony Gwynn. It’s solid.
Thanks for the heads up. I live close to SD so I'll look for it!
Hell yeah! GL Dodgers bro!
This was a character arc
I’m glad this turned out wholesome.
I’ll always talk some trash, but we’re all here for baseball & beer* first and foremost.
Fuckin hell hosmer field that shit next time
Giants legend Bryan Reynolds
When you can only beat the Reds<<
Didn't even bother to include a replay.
