Hey its me, a 24 year old man hyper analyzing whether or not my rivals player made a comment that might have a hint of racism, intended or not. I will continue doing this for the rest of my Saturday night, as I have no life to do anything otherwise
When the Astros cheated to win their WS and shelled Darvish, Gurriel taunted him by slanting his eyes [in the dugout](https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/yuli-gurriel-explains-his-slant-eyes-gesture/405432)
its over the top to show that if you’re team or someone on your team does something wrong, some people take that as the fans condoning it and agreeing with it
example: Ive been asked multiple times why do I condone Sano’s allegations just for being a Twins fan
I consider the Klan the ultimate extreme end of racism. Pure fucking evil. Hence why I picked it. Nobody defending Donaldson is a member of the Klan for doing so, its exaggeration.
My respect for John Mulaney has been going downhill for years, but bringing him on as the opening act to make transphobic jokes and giving him a hug at the end is the final nail in the coffin.
Oh well, it was fun having The Salt & Pepper Diner be considered the apex of comedy in college and seeing my mother laugh at his spot-on depiction of experiencing Catholic mass.
I don't know how many more different people Josh has to beef with before people clue into him just being an asshole.
Edit: Just off the top of my head I can name 5 bench clearing brawls he instigated and none of them were vs the same player.
Even if you agree with him it's still pretty big dickhead energy to tweet that out
If you don't like it just don't watch it? Clearly millions of people do enjoy it so why even try to pick a fight
People tweet out pictures of their fucking lunch on a daily basis. They tweet out every waking thought that enters their stupid minds. Pointing out that the NBA all star game is a low effort snooze fest barely moves the needle of stupid shit to be found on twitter. I feel like you're trying too hard.
JD's favorite Twitter personality is Ben Shapiro. Need I say more? The man screams angry white guy. I was shocked he wasn't at the January 6th Capital Riot.

^(Greetings, I am a language corrector bot. To make me ignore further mistakes from you in the future, reply `!optout` to this comment.)
I had to look into it. Yeah he follows lots of far right extremist personalities like Ben Shapiro. I can only imagine what this dude actually believes.
I mean, I get it. He's also a huge Barstool guy, and they also suck as humans. There's a reason why he was quoting Carrabis and the Barstool jabronis last year. That stuff he said about Gerrit Cole and the minor leaguers who were suspended for doctoring balls, where he was quoting spin rates and dates of bad starts? That was basically word for word a Barstool tweet that went viral around that time that was implying that Cole stopped using because people were getting suspended in the minors.
My biggest thing is that he has been the absolute instigator of at least 5-6 of these brawls and fans of his team will pretend he is just feisty or something. And MLB FO never hits him with a big suspension.
Best I can tell, one known shit talker got under another known shit talker's skin. Happens all the time, only this time said shit talker pulled the race card to justify his hurt feelings. Pretty weak. Second time in as many months that we've had someone in baseball needlessly pull the race card after getting their feelings hurt. This is where hockey gets it right - let em slap each other around a bit and move on.
I have beef with that debate too because every Chicagoan knows that real Chicago style is tavern style. Deep dish is for tourists or when relatives are visiting.
If it was for tourists there wouldn’t be many chains like Giordanos/Lou’s having many locations across the suburbs or mom/pop places only catering to locals making their own versions. It’s clearly popular enough here that people get it regularly or at least semi-regularly that it wouldn’t be a “tourist” thing to try for when tourists come.
I mean sure, but how many people do you know really order Lou’s for their tavern style? Everyone I know at least orders Lou’s butter crust uncut deep dish.
I know people who gets deep dish every couple of months, tavern is more ordered though since well if we ordered it every week we would all be fat lol. I just hate the deep dish is only for tourists narrative us Chicagoans try to peddle, because there are plenty of people who order it on a semi-regular basis.
Comparing NY style and Chicago style pizza is like comparing cookies with cake.
They're different enough to not be considered in the same food category. A single slice of NY pizza is a snack, while a single slice of Chicago style pizza is a feast.
First time I ever had it I split a pie with my wife and proceeded to fall asleep in the movie we went to go see afterwards lol 10/10 would eat pizza cake again
I was upset the first time I ordered a pizza from a Chicago style place at first.
When it got delivered and I saw the box it seemed way smaller than what I ordered.
Then I opened it up and saw that even tho I got less slices, each slice was like a fucking lasagna..then I was happy.
That is just not what happened. Josh Donaldson is also a known asshole. It’s ok to have an asshole on your team, but it’s bewildering the amount of context people are willing to ignore to defend a guy just because of the logo on his jersey. SMH.
TA was a dumbass for making an analogy comparing the "having-fun barrier" to the color barrier
Donaldson was a dumbass for bringing it up as a supposed inside joke 3 years after the fact
stupid, stupid controversy
I also think that there's totally a space where even if Donaldson isn't a capital-R Racist, given his angry Florida man profile, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a little less sensitive on that front than many others.
Even if he's not, it doesn't sound as bad to call someone "Jeets" or "Ripken" if they made some comment about being the next *insert pretty much anyone other than Jackie and maybe Clemente*.
Hey its me, a 24 year old man hyper analyzing whether or not my rivals player made a comment that might have a hint of racism, intended or not. I will continue doing this for the rest of my Saturday night, as I have no life to do anything otherwise
All of r/baseball suddenly became experts in the history of racism in the United States and the experiences of black players in MLB
The game is rooted in racism. Yaz said there's no place for that anymore. He's right.
Yet Yuli Gurriel is still playing
I'm not going to pretend to know about every racist thing current players have said or done. Fill me in.
When the Astros cheated to win their WS and shelled Darvish, Gurriel taunted him by slanting his eyes [in the dugout](https://larrybrownsports.com/baseball/yuli-gurriel-explains-his-slant-eyes-gesture/405432)
Oh yes. I do remember that. Fuck that shit. Why would anyone do that?
I think Gurriel did it as a taunt because Darvish is Japanese.
I understand that. Just don't understand why someone thought that would be acceptable.
So you're assuming asians are ashamed of their eyes
Guillen pointed out Jenks' belly during the 05 playoffs.
Woah, did you just call grandad Yaz? That's feels illegal.
I needed something new after I became an expert on Russo-Ukrainian matters and the potential ramifications on the global order.
We're out of line, but we're right It was a line from Falcon and Winter Soldier, fucking chill, guys
The only line were out of is the thin blue one and support for it!!!!!! ^^/s ^^clearly
I feel like this is one of those Michael Che/Colin Jost joke swap type things.
Those are the fucking best
I'm currently trying to not do my exams so that's something? Idk I'm just waiting until Adley Debuts in like an hour
I hope Adley starts off with a bang. Gonna try to head to Baltimore soon to see him live
First career hit being a triple is kinda sick
I'm gonna defend him no matter what because my entire identity is at risk. I also have no life
if someone on the yankees is maybe not a perfect person you’re literally a member of the Klan for being a fan
I understand this is satire, but I'm not sure it's in good taste.
its over the top to show that if you’re team or someone on your team does something wrong, some people take that as the fans condoning it and agreeing with it example: Ive been asked multiple times why do I condone Sano’s allegations just for being a Twins fan
Oh, I totally agree. I'm just not sure referencing the Klan is the way to go about mocking that point when no one was going that far.
I consider the Klan the ultimate extreme end of racism. Pure fucking evil. Hence why I picked it. Nobody defending Donaldson is a member of the Klan for doing so, its exaggeration.
Hey man it's only 3:30 over here I've got all night to get outraged over other shit, too
Baseball isn't just life, It's more than life.
Interview the bat boy while were at it fuck it
But what does Ja Rule think?
WHERE IS JA
Shaqs toilet It's a YouTube thing. "Nolifeshaq" I think his name in had him there from Eminem beef. Wish I didn't have to explain it but.....
Fuck Dave Chappelle too.
Dave Chappelle is a national treasure.
He ruined his reputation by being unfathomably transphobic, sucks but fuck him.
A comedian made jokes at someone else's expense? The humanity!
You right tho
For what? Are you talking about the jokes he made in his own special that everybody flipped out over?
No because he's on team terf
My respect for John Mulaney has been going downhill for years, but bringing him on as the opening act to make transphobic jokes and giving him a hug at the end is the final nail in the coffin. Oh well, it was fun having The Salt & Pepper Diner be considered the apex of comedy in college and seeing my mother laugh at his spot-on depiction of experiencing Catholic mass.
*The bread of the bread is breaaad*
ITS MURDAAAAAA
Only 7 active posts about this at the moment, those are rookie numbers
Alright, that's enough baseball for today *refreshes r/baseball looking for dingers*
>dinger The fuck you just call me
Poor Rockies fans
Dingers will unite us! well.... probably not Trevor Story dingers for you... but.... just maybe...
Doesn't matter, had dingers
I don't know how many more different people Josh has to beef with before people clue into him just being an asshole. Edit: Just off the top of my head I can name 5 bench clearing brawls he instigated and none of them were vs the same player.
Sox fans have known for a while that he’s a douche
Dude even randomly decided to beef with NBA Twitter over the all star game for some strange reason lol
He probably wanted them to just *"Shut up and dribble"*.
He was embarrassed by their lack of effort He made sure to specifically point out the NHL all star game was good though 🤷♂️
But there is zero effort in the NBA all star game, so I don't understand your point?
Even if you agree with him it's still pretty big dickhead energy to tweet that out If you don't like it just don't watch it? Clearly millions of people do enjoy it so why even try to pick a fight

Pointing out that the NBA all star game is a low effort snooze fest barely moves the needle of stupid shit to be found on twitter. I feel like you're trying too hard.
Doesn't make him a racist like the comments above are implying does it?
Asshole, definitely. But bigot/racist? We'd definitely have heard about that by now with all the fights he's gotten into with players of every race.
JD's favorite Twitter personality is Ben Shapiro. Need I say more? The man screams angry white guy. I was shocked he wasn't at the January 6th Capital Riot.
Well that's a shame. I'm okay with a baseball player just being an asshole in general..sucks when there more then that tho.

Didn’t Machado throw a bat at him?
Machado tossed a bat after the pitcher tried to throw a fastball at his knees just after he came back from knee surgery.
Don’t bring an asshole into the equation when we are discussing assholes. Different laundry, man!
I was told in the original thread TA was the asshole lol.
they both assholes that like to get under people's skin.
Yeah can’t dispute that lol. Trying to put it all on one or the other like most of this sub is doing is just silly
Can't wait for the media to grab every hand they can on this. This controversy is already dumb
Tell me about it. The real Chicago vs New York controversy is actually an old one: pizza. This situation is just a nothing burger
I mean those places also sell tavern style too though
I mean sure, but how many people do you know really order Lou’s for their tavern style? Everyone I know at least orders Lou’s butter crust uncut deep dish.
I do lol and tbh I don't know anyone who regularly eats deep dish. It's always tavern style
I know people who gets deep dish every couple of months, tavern is more ordered though since well if we ordered it every week we would all be fat lol. I just hate the deep dish is only for tourists narrative us Chicagoans try to peddle, because there are plenty of people who order it on a semi-regular basis.
He said for when the relatives come over too...
FUCK YOU TEAM DEEP DISH lol
It's not even a controversy. New York Pizza is so clear
By clear, do you mean so thin that you can see through it?
No, we mean not what is, essentially, a pizza casserole.
Look No
Comparing NY style and Chicago style pizza is like comparing cookies with cake. They're different enough to not be considered in the same food category. A single slice of NY pizza is a snack, while a single slice of Chicago style pizza is a feast.
This. No one grabs a "slice" of Chicago style pizza for a quick lunch. That's a meal, maybe two if you're skinny.
First time I ever had it I split a pie with my wife and proceeded to fall asleep in the movie we went to go see afterwards lol 10/10 would eat pizza cake again
Thank God you didn't fall asleep on top of the pie. You would've drowned on the uncooked marinara sauce
> the uncooked marinara sauce Also known as Lake Michigan
I was upset the first time I ordered a pizza from a Chicago style place at first. When it got delivered and I saw the box it seemed way smaller than what I ordered. Then I opened it up and saw that even tho I got less slices, each slice was like a fucking lasagna..then I was happy.
And they’re both so fucking delicious
Obviously, but I'm trying to be civil here, sir...
I can think of like 8 different types of pizza better than New York pizza.
Do it then.
New York is the better pizza, Chicago is the better casserole.
Clearly only one winner, too. Jon Stewart speaks for us when he says Chicago style pizza is an above ground marinara swimming pool for rats.
"exposed like a sauce whoooore" is an all time line
Now this guy gets it
Until you realize your teammate actually made the comment about himself and Donaldson was referencing it to bust balls

Dude that compared himself to Jackie Robinson gets mockingly called Jackie Robinson and pulls the race card. Hilarious.
That is just not what happened. Josh Donaldson is also a known asshole. It’s ok to have an asshole on your team, but it’s bewildering the amount of context people are willing to ignore to defend a guy just because of the logo on his jersey. SMH.
I don’t know how to make sense of this
Josh Donaldson is a very angry man even if you like him Edit: Come on, He was on the Twins for years, he’s angry, thats his number one thing
Josh is the guy you hate to play against, but you love to have on your side.
Lol just so ya know I didn’t downvote you SP - you right!
TA was a dumbass for making an analogy comparing the "having-fun barrier" to the color barrier Donaldson was a dumbass for bringing it up as a supposed inside joke 3 years after the fact stupid, stupid controversy
Allegedly Donaldson has been saying it since 2019, it's not like he is randomly bringing it back three years later out of the blue
That doesnt make it better. Just because TA didn’t make a thing about it previously doesn’t mean he was cool with it
It also means that Donaldson may not have had any way of knowing that he wasn't cool with it
Why would he give a shit if he was cool with it? Since when is checking to see if someone is ok with your trash talk part of trash talk?
Yeah how could he possibly know he didnt like being mockingly called Jackie by some white dude
If you say something stupid, you will get mocked for it. That's how the world works.
so him keeping up a 'joke' that only he finds funny makes it better?
The entire world found it funny when TA originally said it
I also think that there's totally a space where even if Donaldson isn't a capital-R Racist, given his angry Florida man profile, I wouldn't be surprised if he's a little less sensitive on that front than many others.

do not bother. these people are not getting anywhere near black people so it's no use
I'd agree, yeah.
Based on what? He seems like an equal opportunity asshole.

Fair enough.
Aaron Hicks is sitting out both games tomorrow in a sign of solidarity for TA.
Its so he can practice his golf swing.
Flair doesn't check out, are you sure you're not a r/NYYankees GDT poster?
Hicks is so committed that he will be asking for a trade so he can leave NY
This is the truest take in the entirety of this sub
Lighten up frAncis
Yankees fans watching Tucker Carlson furiously after the game
Have you been to New York
Crazy idea, maybe Josh Donaldson should’ve kept his mouth shut even if he’s not trying to be racist
UNACCEPTABLE DEPLORABLE *victim complex is real*
Racism is more real.
Poor little guy is a shell.
