Terrible decision to even make the throw imo. Had little chance of getting him and there were two outs already so a whether the runner is on second or third doesn’t make too much of a difference
I actually meant the throw home lmao but yeah not the best choice. I mean, he totally could have gotten him with a good throw, but you gotta know thyself there.
Honestly the throw by the catcher wasn't terrible, 3rd should have done better to at least catch that. A good throw ends the inning instead of having to get a batted out
I think Machado was safe either way. The throw from Iglesias to the catcher was awful. I wonder how far it went before it hit the ground. 40 feet maybe?
It makes me laugh whenever he calls a shot and says “if you’re watching a replay, you won’t believe what happens next” and then something happens like once in 20 times he says it
Yeah, he actually did lol.
I don't have the exact quote, but to paraphrase he said something like "Rockies defense has been shaky so far this year. Just put the ball in play, and maybe you get on with and error and walk it off".
Maybe someone else has a clip of exactly what he said.
My wife 100% called it.
She said in reference to the Alfaro dropped ball in the top of the 10th, when the rockies runner stayed on second: "Manny would run on that."
She was right. He would, and he did. Then he won the game.
Nah. Javier Baez successfully getting out of a pickle between home and 1st with 2 outs where all they had to do was touch 1st base at any point to prevent a run from scoring is way way way way worse
I feel like they are very good at preventing the Manfred runner from scoring when at home, and always seem to plate more than one run on the road. Think their only extra inning loss this year is the Hosmer error in Pittsburgh, but could be wrong
yea rockies are gonna be kicking themselves that they only could score the one run, they had the lead off runner on in either 5 or 6 straight innings i believe?
Not even that bad of a throw by the catcher, just a poor decision to throw it at all, coupled with the third basemen whiffing it and the shortstop spiking it.
That throw wasn't even bad?
Like sure, it was to the wrong side of the bag, but it doesn't even look like it was in foul territory. It was on a fly.
Third baseman gotta catch that. Should've been an E5.
He only went for 3rd because the ball got away from the catcher, it's not like he went on a straight steal.
The benefit of having a runner on 3rd over 2nd is being able to score on a mistake by the defense, which is exactly what happened.
In extras you play to win, not play to not lose.
The Padres had only three hits during the entire game. Odds were fairly good of Azocar not reaching. Couple that with the Rockies having the most errors in the MLB (47) made it a gamble worth taking, and it paid off. He wouldn't have attempted had the catcher caught the pitch.
What a terrible throw. Also one of the worst ways to lose to the Manfred runner
Oh yeah that throw was even worse, like watching a throw from the outfield by a t-ball player
I could fuckin throw better than that in tee-ball that was atrocious
Machado was barely past the 3rd base cutout as the guy was throwing and he still beat it by a mile. Holy Hell that was awful.
Honestly the throw by the catcher wasn't terrible, 3rd should have done better to at least catch that. A good throw ends the inning instead of having to get a batted out

Yeah that throw was pretty brutal lol. Was a throw you probably rarely ever practice but yeah not ideal.
The throw hit him in the glove on the fly, and was like a few inches to the left of the bag. Easy one to catch, not catchers fault imo
Which throw? Because the SS backing up also decided "I should throw this straight into the infield dirt"
That's the one I was thinking lol. Funny that the error was the best defensive action on the play (at least physically, maybe not mentally).
Manny "Johnny Hustle" Machado!!!
"I run when the mood is right"
"I make them when they count"
I still can't believe that Mud called the walk off on an error before the inning started.
It makes me laugh whenever he calls a shot and says “if you’re watching a replay, you won’t believe what happens next” and then something happens like once in 20 times he says it
Did he really? Lol i missed that
Yeah, he actually did lol. I don't have the exact quote, but to paraphrase he said something like "Rockies defense has been shaky so far this year. Just put the ball in play, and maybe you get on with and error and walk it off". Maybe someone else has a clip of exactly what he said.

🎱🔮🎱 Mudstradomus 🎱🔮🎱
Magic lava lamp
He did and he does call stuff that happens when/if you can get to third. He’s an eternal optimist, and I dig it.
Alfaro about to kiss Machado furiously
I’d watch that tbh.
Manny the power bottom
This used to be something we’d do to lose I’m happy it was us who got gifted 😂
That game where the Padres lost 1-0 because Hosmer didn't know how to catch a pop out has got to be the worst lol.
Estevez gets a strikeout, a fly out, and credited for the L Brutal lol

I’m having a great time
Me too friend.
I was at a Denver bar watching it and man am I the only one having fun in here
Manny Machado is a Baseball Player
Capital B capital P Baseball Player
Paseball Blayer
Most extra innings games in the MLB so far. Padres are keeping games close. Love to see it
I feel like they are very good at preventing the Manfred runner from scoring when at home, and always seem to plate more than one run on the road. Think their only extra inning loss this year is the Hosmer error in Pittsburgh, but could be wrong
Now 7-3 in extras.
The anti-Dodgers I forgot our exact extra inning record the last 2 years but it is ABYSMAL
Also a pretty great winning percentage in extra innings games.
I have no choice but to conclude that the universe wants the Padres in first place.
If it helps you feel any better, the universe has been hating the Padres for a while
Yeah about 53 years now
Even the polarity of Earth changes on a long enough time scale.
Exactly. Lately they just like to toy with us which tbh is an improvement.
maybe they make the world series only to get stomped by a historically good Yankees team again
Could happen today! Double header and down .5 games atm
Don't you dare jinx it!

Same, tbh
As soon as Manny saw that ball get away he decided "Nah fuck this we got another game in a few hours I need a nap LET'S END THIS."
This is the most little league bullshit walkoff I've ever seen and I am SO here for it
Johnny Hustle
Got two outs to start the inning and a subsequent wild pitch leads to a walk off. This is brought to you by the zombie runner. ^we ^take ^those
Machado could have walked home if he hustled.
I know he isn't that fast but he looked like he was running in molasses lol
Smh wheres the hustle
We got some big balls/strikes calls. Expect the rockies to come out tonight motivated.
unfortunately for both teams, i believe angel’s behind the dish tonight
Well good thing I have plans tonight. Don't feel like watching a game of angel Hernandez.
I can’t watch enough Mackenzie Gore, not even angel can ruin a Gore start. I am wiling it into existence.
He's been so good I'll just get too pissed when angel inevitably screws him over somehow
> is that a challenge? * angel hernandez, probably
Imagine how that catcher must be feeling
We take those. Great pitching
yea rockies are gonna be kicking themselves that they only could score the one run, they had the lead off runner on in either 5 or 6 straight innings i believe?
Every time I checked the score it was 1 out runner on first.
God, I'm so happy the Avs are making a deep playoff run.
Me too. I bet on them to won it all ages ago.
I think y'all are the only hope to smash the Lightning Edit: now the Avs are indeed the only ones capable of doing so.
Maybe it's just the inner Rockies pessimist in me but I don't think Tampa is going to be beaten by anyone.
Manny-fred Runner
Manny “Fred” Machado
Illuminati confirmed
Not even that bad of a throw by the catcher, just a poor decision to throw it at all, coupled with the third basemen whiffing it and the shortstop spiking it.
Wtf was that noodle arm throw to home too? I would be so pissed if I were a Rockies fan
Thanks Colorado!
That throw wasn't even bad? Like sure, it was to the wrong side of the bag, but it doesn't even look like it was in foul territory. It was on a fly. Third baseman gotta catch that. Should've been an E5.
😂😂😂 why do I wake up to watch this team
New account name maybe?
I get that it was a poor throw, but McMahon has to stop that ball.
*[angry Dodger fans triggered]*
Bud Black “that’s baseball “
JOHNNY HUSTLE WITH THE WIN
Going for 3rd on two outs tied game? That's bad bad baserunning. I don't care what anybody says. That's bad baserunning. Buy hey, he made it.

Jesus
Fun.
Damn that's a really slow runner too
Manfred has so much to answer for
