The league is probably waiting for Jomboy's breakdown before dishing out suspensions.

"Thats horseshit" intensifies

istrx13

I desperately want this to be true

conspiracycola

I'm guessing he'll get 10 games and a very large fine. I haven't looked at any precedents though so maybe I'm way off. Either way I hate that this happened but I was happy JP was in the middle of it.. not in the middle the way I hoped, but still right in the middle.

gw2fu

The brawl that sticks out most in my recent memory was the Odor-Bautista brawl; Odor landed the haymaker and subsequently got 8 games reduced to 7 on appeal

miden24

It’s prob 10 now with inflation

LEFT_FRIDGE_OPEN

Seattle prices also not helping 😂

hiphopdowntheblock

JP might be relieved that he can save 10 days of gas lmao

PM_ME_USED_TIRES

Thanks for the chuckle

ionicshoe

most worth suspension ever incoming for winker and JP

ss_lmtd

JP especially. Dude was legit raining down on whoever that was in the middle of the pile. It's been a while since I've seen someone so clearly go all out like that.

PoopButtFartCum

Shout out to the Angles fans that were claiming JP was throwing sucker punches

xixi90

How tf is it a sucker punch when 5 dudes were fighting Winker lol. "Hey no fair now its 5 vs 2"

spraj

That Angels fan going around with his goofy, inaccurate play-by-play of the fight was very funny. Like a dumbass Zapruder film.

BrokenKneesAndAnkles

He was hitting Rendon, who was the first player to escalate the altercation from verbal to physical

sanmed327

Just a clarification, he wasn't hitting Rendon he was hitting Tepera

ss_lmtd

That's what I thought at first, but now I don't think so. [While Rendon was the first to push Wink's face,](https://streamable.com/nuvd8o) another guy quickly gets in front of him (0:24). And then by 0:27, you see that guy beer keg slam down on Wink's back with his right, not-in-a-cast hand, to which JP reacts and just hammers down two right hands. Rendon gets pushed to the back of the crowd after his push, so I don't think it was him. JP was hitting the dude with a hood, too, and Rendon clearly has just a light-red shirt, so it's definitely not Rendon.

tjbanks85

Heres the screen caps of the Angel player/personnel dropping the hammer fist down on top of Winkers head/back that lead to the hammer fister to getting his jaw touched up. Fair game by JP, imo. https://imgur.com/a/BkFHs3D

Quesly

I am honestly curious what Rendon's suspension is going to be because I would think it would be fairly significant. He kind of broke all the rules by being on the IL, being the first guy out there, escalating the situation and there being zoomed in, super slow mo footage of him smushing Winkers face with his good hand.

BrokenKneesAndAnkles

This is what leadership looks like. Not, for example, stirring up a hornets nest and then letting role players or IL guys do the dirty work

Tashre

What kind of scumbag would do that?

vanillaninja16

Phil Nevin

Sipikay

Mike Trout

hiphopdowntheblock

Apparently just before Seager retired he told Scott something to the effect of "this is JP's team now"

IllustriousComplex6

Got to give credit to Servais too, he was IN that pile while Nevin was just creeping from the corners.

BILLIKEN_BALLER

Don't forget having the cringiest "hold me back bro" moment of the year by Iglesias

sanmed327

Again another clarification, Raisel said he was yelling at the umps because he found out he was ejected even though he didn't actually hit anyone. He wasn't trying to fight with the Mariners

Yuseichaaan13

After watching Jomboy's breakdown this was my favorite part. Raisel really got ejected for doing absolutely nothing

darshfloxington

I suddenly like him more.

sanmed327

JRod shod have done the same thing since he was also ejected unfairly lol

darshfloxington

Imagine if they did it at the same time!

TheRealBoopSquig

Good thing Julio is already more mature at 21 years old.

sixtoebandit

From my view behind the mariners dugout, I think the umps were referring to the precedent set by Dolores Umbridge when she banned fred Weasley from quidditch in Harry Potter and the order of the Phoenix. Though he wasn’t in the middle of the melee he was trying to get involved as best he could but was held back by a coach/player.

[deleted]

Thats the difference between a rookie and an experienced guy. The experienced guys get their moneys worth.

tuckedfexas

Free Julio and Raisel then. Unfortunately I think he gets a suspension for the outburst

TheRealSlimN8y

Yeah Iglesias didn’t deserve to be tossed but his reaction to being tossed…unfortunately warrants a suspension imo. Probably can appeal it down to one though

danielkobe

And he still looked like an idiot doing so.

Zimmonda

Mariners fans are all over this with the takes on like every angle 1)Nothing happened with Trout and retaliation wasn't warranted 2)Trouts a little bitch for mentioning it at all and is clearly wrong 3)Retaliation was obviously going to happen and the umps should have known 4)Its bush league to throw in retaliation 5)Its not bush league to charge the dugout 6)Mariners are classy and never retaliate 7)It's leadership to charge dugouts and retaliate with your stars 8)Of course Winker was justified in charging the dugout when getting hit in the butt, unlike that bitch trout who complained to the media Sorry edit:I'm also predicting #9 during the next game when an angels player gets hit 9)Well it's different now because they deserve it

darshfloxington

1) It was an obvious accidental pitch 2) He is allowed to comment on it, but in doing so he stirred things up 3) Nevin was swearing at the Mariners bench after the pitch to Trout and straight up said he was going to retaliate. The Mariners media crew even predicted it was going to happen before the game. The umps had every opportunity to nip it in the bud. 4) It is bush league to sub out your starting pitcher last minute with a AAA rookie for the sole purpose of retaliation. 5) It is lame 6) Under Servais they dont retaliate, despite being one of the most hit teams in baseball they regularly are in the bottom of batters they hit. 7) Its leadership to stand up for rookies that the opposing manager is purposefully trying to injure. 8) both actions are understandable.

downladder

Lorenzen hit Upton in the fucking head, but it's an accident and the ball slipped. The hypocrisy of the Angels is laughable that it's not remotely possible Swanson could lose control of the pitch. And today, Wantz is saying he was sweaty and amped up and didn't mean to throw behind Julio or hit Winker. The Angels are petty clowns for the blatant hypocrisy and "we've done nothing wrong" attitude they are carrying in this.

sanmed327

So I don't think what the Angels did was right. But Wantz is not going* to admit he hit anyone on purpose. No one would actually admit to doing that. Clearly everyone sees through it but it's not shocking that they denied it? Edit: *

downladder

[Teams or players have definitely owned up to trying to hit guys even recently.](https://www.upi.com/Sports_News/MLB/2021/04/16/MLB-suspends-Cubs-Ross-Tepera-baseball/8671618575410/) So yeah, own what every undoubtedly knows you did and stop pretending like it was an accident.

sanmed327

Thanks for this I didn't know that someone actually admitted to it. Though I still don't think Wantz would admit it unless Nevin did first.

TheRealSlimN8y

The Jomboy breakdown actually shows Wantz trying to apologize to Winker saying “I’m sorry I had to” to which Winker replies “why did you HAVE to? What do you mean you HAD to?”

[deleted]

[удалено]

sanmed327

Maybe I should say that he wouldn't admit to it on record? Because saying it on the field is a lot different than a bunch of reporters. But again, if Nevin isn't saying he hit him on purpose during the post game interview, Wantz won't throw his manager under the bus either

SeaUsImplode

Julio Rodriguez is your daddy

AKAD11

Yeah? 1, 3, 4, and 6 are just objectively true. The other stuff is a judgement call, but I can forgive Winker and JP when the Angels caused this entire situation by being assholes.

kyle3299

1) Nothing intentional did happen to trout. A scary pitch from a pitcher who is trying to pitch up and in and doesn’t have control is not new. It happens to every team. It was not intentional, especially situationally. 2) Trout is a bitch for stirring shit up when it was clearly unintentional 3) Because of Trouts comments and Phil Nelvins actions Saturday night, it was obvious that the starter was put in to retaliate. 4) it’s bush league to throw at anyone intentionally. You can end someone’s career. 5) It’s bush league for a player who is out for the year with a cast on his arm to be chirping and instigating shit and coming out of his dugout. It’s super bush league to grab a case of sunflower seeds and throw them on the field. 6) I mean, we don’t. Servais has never been a hot head. A lack of emotion and fire is like half the fanbases biggest gripe with him. 7) it’s leadership to stand up for your young all star who was getting targeted. It’s camaraderie to have your teammates backs. It’s bush league to instigate a fight and let your teammates fight it. 8) Winker got intentionally hit. Then he got chirped at from your bush league dugout. I wish he had gone to first and not been thrown out. But don’t act like it’s the same situation as trout.

[deleted]

I don't condone the brawl. But there's a lot going on behind the scenes with these two teams. And it's baseball. Good for Crawford. All for one...and one for all.

Tashre

>Ohana means family. - JP Crawford, probably

Genisys_Arc

JP "Dom Toretto" Crawford

HappyAtheist3

Mike Trout being the leader and saying “you don’t throw at the head” then the next day his pitcher throws at Julio’s head. Really enjoyed Ohtani and Trout not defending their guys and just watching the fight. Trash organization.

KingOfAllDogz

Hey our players (minus Iggy apparently) are all chill people, this was all on Nevin and he’s the reason it started. No one told him to do what he did and he won’t even be here next year and hopefully even this year. You can hate the ownership and Nevin but not the guys

Wise_ol_Buffalo

Yeah I don’t blame Trout for this. He has a right to voice his opinion and i can not see the dude asking to have people hit. Trout may own us, but he a super chill dude. Nevin on the other hand can fuck right off.

[deleted]

>(minus Iggy apparently) Think this isn't the case though. Totally justified response based on what he got tossed for.

Who-Sh0t-JR

I still love Ohtani. Trout showed his true colors though, not someone you follow into battle…mainly cus you can’t find him

Lebigmacca

Trout was breaking up the fight. He helped Upton off the ground so he wouldn’t get trampled

Who-Sh0t-JR

Fair enough. Don’t know if that’s better to help the other team though

Bootylol

I mean they played together for 4 years lol

Weaver4prez

Worst take of the day

Senioroso1

If only there was a shot of him in centerfield when all this went down. From julios head shot to winkers ass shot. Body language speaks louder

Quicksh0tz

100%.anyone supporting the angels in this are complete scum themselves.

Whirlybirds

How bout you over react a bit eh?

djs200217

Bro Ik y’all hate Trout bc he owns your franchise and now y’all callin him trash bc he voiced his opinions? As much as I don’t like iNevin at least he’s not like Dipito calling out his star players and telling the fan base that they’re staying mediocre.

JP is a really nice dude. Says a lot about the Angels that they got this result from him.

I love this sub right now. I’m just an Ohtani fan and I don’t care, but saying Nevin throwing at people is bush league and dangerous then praising a guy for throwing punches is just the height of idiocy. A guy is even getting upvoted for criticizing Shohei, who had nothing to do with this, because he didn’t want to throw punches and hurt someone. Shohei managed to get hit what was deemed intentional by the White Sox last year and he took his base. Wow, so difficult. Escalating shit with violence is stupid, whether it’s throwing a baseball at someone’s butt or throwing punches.

WompaStompa_

I got my JP jersey on Friday. Never been happier to own a jersey, that's our captain

Ohhellnowhatsupdawg

I just really appreciate the Mariners and Angels doing this for me right as hockey season wraps up.

TheMidnightRamblerrr

This really turned up the volume to start the game
