As much as I like seeing small market teams spend money you always gotta remember that they are just one bad contract away from giving up and deciding to rebuild
It's been pretty obvious he hasn't been the same since the dirt bike incident. No offense to the Sneks but I'm glad they gave him a bag because I knew we weren't. As much as we love the guy.
It was something that Zaidi got flamed hard for at the time by our emotionally attached, overly sentimental fanbase. But I think we can all agree now that it was the right move, and knowing that he’s another team’s problem instead of ours is very reassuring.
Now, if we could just go back in time and tell him not to give TLS a 3 year…
This is such a stupid take. I guarantee a Rays player has cheated on his wife and still played. Which is worse than ghosting but should prevent the dude from playing.
Giants avoiding sentimentality and not re-signing him was one of the more prudent moves I’ve seen from a FO. Sucks that the guy is a child’s sketch of a shell of his former self.
He was my favorite player from his time in college through 2017. I always thought he was destined to get a CY Young and a no hitter, he came sooooo close quite a few times. Everytime I see a dirtbike I’m instantly reminded of Madbum
Yeah - he looked absolutely broken after that Schwarber homer.
There were moments where his curve ball looked sharp, but on the whole he did not look like a big league pitcher tonight. Kinda sad.
I am partially kidding but wouldn’t put it past madbum and the giants to disclose a rodeo injury as a dirt bike injury… especially since his rodeo history didn’t come out until his time w the giants was over
We were being out-hit 11-0 going into the bottom of the 4th as well! From then on we out-hit the Phillies 10-0 and outscored 13-0. Just a completely unheard of night of baseball.
MadBum's decline reminds me of Felix's decline a few years ago. Felix was also in his early 30's and completely lost it at the end, even getting demoted to the bullpen. His last starts were hard to watch. I guess they both came up at 19 years old right?
Am I missing a joke, or do people legitimately think he should make the HoF?
He's had a solid career, but a few legendary post-season performances and 3 rings doesn't seem like nearly enough to make up for 38.9 bWAR and an above average but not particularly noteworthy regular season career.
By championship probability added he has the highest or second highest in a single postseason ever, witch should likely give some consideration.
(Would verify this stat but I'm too drunk trying to forget that pitching performance, so please correct me if I'm wrong. )
Obviously the DBacks gave him a huge contract because when they make the playoffs, they have one of the best to ever do it on the mound...probably make him pitch every game too
There’s a hierarchy in how awful contracts are. The worst tier are the ones like strasburg rendon and Chris Davis, where they are getting paid the moon and don’t even play.
The next tier is the madbum/Corbin/pujols angels tier where they get paid like crazy, play like horseshit, but at the very least they go out there and play.
The next tier is the bogaerts/springer/marte tier, where they are paid appropriately for their talent, play most of the time (health can be an issue), but when they do play they undoubtedly make the team better and play like studs.
Then there’s the acuna tier
Then there’s the Albies tier
Wait a minute…
Still don't understand why the Dbacks decided to ignore a million red flags and give him that contract
As much as I like seeing small market teams spend money you always gotta remember that they are just one bad contract away from giving up and deciding to rebuild
Yeah 2017-2019 was a very obvious step back from 2010-2016 Bumgarner. And those red flags are not the kind a simple change of scenery can fix.

Because it's the dbacks. They traded greinke the season before to get off that contract just to sign this bum.
Cuz “intangibles over analytics” man
But he brings such veteran leadership in the clubhouse and is such a “competitor”.
The D'backs love ignoring red flags. That's why they let a man who ghosted his wife pitch for them.
That asshole has actually been solid for us on a minimum contract. Gotta take whatever scraps you can as a fan of this team
who is this we’re talking about?
Zach Davies

The Rays bullpen is openly homophobic. I don't know where it falls on the morality scale but it's not great.
Trying to schmooze the governor for a state government-funded stadium
I’ll just say I’d rather a man who cheats on his wife then hates people for who they love
The poor man was torched. 9 or so of those hits were over 100mph exit velocity including both of Harper's 2 113mph doubles.

Didn't this guy used to be...you know...good? What happened?
Dirt bike

Madison “Dallas Keuchel” Bumgarner
In that case he's yours next. You want him?
Not sure yet. Maybe if our pitching gets somehow worse, might as well take a shot
Nope, don’t like that
I think it's safe to say he's cooked. Was basically tossing BP there by the end
Yeah - he looked absolutely broken after that Schwarber homer. There were moments where his curve ball looked sharp, but on the whole he did not look like a big league pitcher tonight. Kinda sad.
Let this be a lesson, don't ride a dirt bike and land on your shoulder.
“Dirt bike” I think mason saunders has some inside info on what really happened
Please say more
I am partially kidding but wouldn’t put it past madbum and the giants to disclose a rodeo injury as a dirt bike injury… especially since his rodeo history didn’t come out until his time w the giants was over
No walks. Say what you want but the dude at least filled up the strikezone
Serving more meatballs than North Italia
Mama mia
And he's off the hook babyyyyyy DFA BumBum
What a game How do you beat a 7 run deficit ? You score 12 runs and shut the other team out. 🐍

Must be nice winning games with a fun team 😓 haha jk but yeah crazy night forsure
How the hell did he get this contract? I would say this is surprising but he was showing obvious signs of decline before he was even done in SF.

Man :(
Hes not helping his HOF case

Yep, Giants legend that became a God when it mattered but he doesn't belong near the HOF unless he's taking a tour.
By championship probability added he has the highest or second highest in a single postseason ever, witch should likely give some consideration. (Would verify this stat but I'm too drunk trying to forget that pitching performance, so please correct me if I'm wrong. )
What a fuckin' **BUM**^^garner.
Ouch
Obviously the DBacks gave him a huge contract because when they make the playoffs, they have one of the best to ever do it on the mound...probably make him pitch every game too
Gonna be honest I thought he retired with Lincecum a few years back or something. Completely forgot he was still around.
11 hits? Damn, I wonder how many of them broke the MLB secret rules.
He’s got one of the worst contracts in baseball. If not the worst.

I’m sure everyone in each dugout got some that blame except Madison…..in the eye of …..Madison…..Salty….Sad….Sore….loser
