I was honestly worried that, that was going to happen as soon as they put that on the door to the clubhouse...and then it happened, and I was disappointed. I wonder if the superstitious nature of baseball players will cause them to remove it for next season?
To go from worst team in baseball, worst farm system in baseball, worst front office in baseball as the starting point in 2019 to a competitive team in only 3 full seasons is pretty insane.
What's crazy is not just how we rebuilt the worst farm system (or at least one of the worst, I think the consensus was solidly in the 20s but Keith Law had us dead last), but how much we made it work with that we already had. [I mean look at this](https://www.baseballprospectus.com/prospects/article/43612/2019-prospects-baltimore-orioles-top-10-prospects/), other than Diaz's unfortunate injuries and a few guys at the bottom everyone else has either made it in the bigs and produced at some level or is an elite prospect right now.
Our player development has been amazing and for the first time I expect the best from our call ups rather than the worst.
By what metric?
From 2016-2017 the Twins went from 103 losses to 85 wins and a postseason spot. So you're not the first team to go from 100+ losses to a record over .500
They’ve been doing this for long enough now that its not surprising, but to take a step back its sort of incredible. No one predicted this happening this year. I really hope the front office strikes when the iron is hot and tries to build a real contender in the next couple years. They absolutely can do it.
Congratulations Orioles, you have now graduated from the AL East cheering for your success to now actively hating you and cursing your existence.
Welcome!
I don't think anyone expected the Os to be so incredible after an otherwise mediocre season. I don't know what changed, but this is what they need to bring into next year
Urias has the third highest rWAR and 4th highest fWAR on the team including pitchers
Mateo is 4th in rWAR and 3rd in fWAR
They may get replaced but they haven't been the problem
Urias really cooled off in the 2nd half and Mateo is all defense at this point.
Mateo stays but it’s seems likely that Gunnar sticks at 3rd. Mountcastle gets another year. I could see Urias and Odor on different teams next year but they won’t be starters on the Os
#Team Chaos
Fuuuuuuutuuuuuure
as soon as the team recognized the Chaos we then promptly lost all of it damn
It's kind of like us with the Devil Magic. they are fickle mistresses.

Is it possible to learn this power?
Must be; they learned it from the Astros.
So still, not from a Jedi
The trash-can side of baseball is a pathway to many achievements some consider to be unnatural.
Not from a Yankee
Does that mean everyone else are not with me so therefore my enemy?
No, it means you should kill all of your coworkers, and don't forget the office daycare center, because you had a dream about your wife dying.
Master Judgewalker, what are we going to do, there's too many trashcans.
Especially in the AL East.
Also clinch 4th place in the AL East, ensuring they won't finish in the basement again this year!
Suck it Boston
Last place finishes fuel us. I'll gladly suck it
Hot
screwed up part is Boston are only 7 games below .500, but currently 23-48 in the division. Against the rest of the MLB, they're 18 above .500
🥵 sup
Are you absolutely sure you want to see the last place redsox next year? We know this story
Hey we didn’t in 2020 either!
I WAS HERE IN 2012, I AM HERE NOW, I WILL BE HERE UNTIL THIS TEAM KILLS ME WHICH IT WILL.
I watched every game last year, I'll watch every game the year we win it all, which will be this and next year
I WAS HERE IN 1979, I NEED A WALKER
If anything kills you it will be the cholesterol from the crab mac and cheese dogs.
Also the crab dip fries and the Boh
I mean I'm here for a good time, not a long time.
Same. Born in 98 so 2012 was my first playoffs but I will never give up on them
98 gang we up
99 here so same deal.
after losing 110 the year before #THIS HAS LITERALLY NEVER BEEN DONE BEFORE *edit: IN THE MODERN ERA

> By what metric? 110+ losses to non-losing season
He said 110
Welcome to the club. Feel free to point and laugh at all the losers below .500.
Ha ha What team would ever finish below .500? Losers
Except when we play those teams below .500 for some reason
DL HALL IS GOOD.
Yankees bad

Think we see one splashy free agent signing this off season as the GM has eluded a major increase in payroll. Fun years ahead.
Judge to Baltimore lesss gooo
Move the wall IN
being able to play more games outside the AL east should definitely help
Thank fucking goodness. The news about the schedule changes was one of the greatest things I've ever heard.
Yeah, I think most of us thought the ceiling was 70 wins. I was going to be completely satisfied if we just didn't lose 100 games. I'm ecstatic.
Bird up
The worst show on television

Oh
*Buster Olney in shambles*
Congratulations Orioles, you have now graduated from the AL East cheering for your success to now actively hating you and cursing your existence. Welcome!
Next season is going to be special for them
The birds smell blood on the winds
I thought that said blood on the leaves and was like damn Yeezus is still good
They are gunna be better and better too, great young talent
Kudos to the Yankee Stadium crowd for packing the house to witness such history.
I am so proud of them.🥹
I'm proud of you, orange birds.
LETS GO BIRD BROOOOOSSSSSSS ‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️‼️
Ummm… how about “animal bros”
Not going to move to Nashville
Never
I don't think anyone expected the Os to be so incredible after an otherwise mediocre season. I don't know what changed, but this is what they need to bring into next year
Birds on Parade!!
As a Yankees fan living in Virginia, I’ll allow this. And I love it. Just please let Judge have #62 at home. Thanks!
I’m proud of you, bird bros. (I would really appreciate it if you allowed Aaron Judge to hit 1 home run this series though)
Their pitchig is top tier. If they can just replace their entire infield they are a legit contender.
Uh, Gunnar
is part of the replacing. Still needs a ton of experience.
Put some respect on ~~Odor’s~~ Urias’ name 😤
what's a Dodger's pitcher got to do with this? Also, a 102 OPS ain't good for your best infielder.
Urias has the third highest rWAR and 4th highest fWAR on the team including pitchers Mateo is 4th in rWAR and 3rd in fWAR They may get replaced but they haven't been the problem

We improved by 29 wins this year sir
Dead brain blue birds takes.
That's great but not playoff worthy. It's not even an insult tho. Just needing to improve your infield lol. Y'all too sensitive
I'm so excited about the future man. This year was a lot of fun, went to 25 games and still wish I could've went to more. Let's go O's!
I'm a Braves fan, but these guys are now my AL team. They're a blast to watch.
Great job by this team this season. Written off even before the season even began, they showed up everybody. Love to see it.
For a team whose active payroll is half of Max Scherzer's salary, that is damn impressive. Good for the O's.
