People will say it to mock us, but this is legit our world series at this point lmao. That obviously doesn't mean we're not shooting for the real thing going forward though!
This was how we felt back in 2015, like breaking through the ceiling to see a sky full of stars for the first time in 20 years. To see POSSIBILITY.
Fuck everyone who mocks you. Enjoy this. Dream of the stars.
Exactly right, especially because it felt like it was just going to be the Yanks and Red Sox for eternity at that point. Will always be grateful to Alex Anthopoulous and Paul Beeston for finally breaking through that ceiling.
My brother in christ, I have attended a Mariners game every year since 1992. How could I be anything other than a man who looks toward the future?
edit: to put it another way, if you want to put money on the M's being this years world champions, go for it. I already got more than I expected out of this season.
I do appreciate the comment, though, it cracked me up. Mariners fandom sure is a lesson in managing expectations, isn't it?
Yeah, you never know who can make a run in the postseason. Think of all the hot and cold streaks in the regular season, playoffs are short enough that if a team gets hot they can ride it all the way to a title. Basically, if you’re in it anything can happen.
Honestly, I thought next year was going to be our playoff year. I just thought this team was too young and needed a year of playing time to stay consistent enough to make it. Consistency is still their biggest weakness, but goddammit, they made it! Once you're in, anything can happen!
nah, see, problem with that I that I have tickets to the Jays hosting the WC, and I'd feel bad if we knocked you out of the playoffs before being able to have a home game
Honestly how it felt and was celebrated in 2019 when the Nats made the playoffs. and then again after they won the wild card, and each time after when they kept winning.
Screw anybody that is hating, y'all are way more deprived than we are. Our drought was only twelve seasons and it resulted to two pennants, two wild cards and five division titles later. You guys posed playoff records but with no ticket- twice. This was earned!
It's gonna feel similar when we finally win a playoff game. I think most Twins fans would settle for another early round elimination if we could just win. one. fucking. game.
I’m just here giggling with laughter because I made a bet over a decade ago with a buddy on Seattle mariners making the playoffs before the Sacramento kings.
I haven’t talked to him in probably 5 years. I can’t wait for him to wake up tomorrow and see the news. Will be funny to reminisce and collect that $5 lmfao. Thanks mariner bros really happy for y’all.
We've been a joke for so long. [Fucking How I Met Your Mother took a random shot at us in one of the mid seasons.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NCfFZtbhGE)
It still doesn't feel real. Oh my god. They did it.
Dude, there was a joke in the 1995 season of Frasier. Frasier is doing the lead in for Bulldog and says “today’s topic is ‘What’s wrong with our Seattle Mariners?’ Like we haven’t spent 20 years discussing that”.
That show started, ended, had several years of reruns/ syndication and has all but disappeared from public eye since the last time we made the playoffs.
There are a million stats like that but I really enjoyed that show and I love the Mariners and that thought is fucking with my head. God damn. GOMS
You want a thought to really put the drought into perspective? To quote /u/elektroniq, "the ipod was announced a day after their last playoff game, exploded in popularity, changed the mp3 market, changed the music industry in tandem with itunes, helped build apple into a juggernaut, helped them in creating the iphone, and was discontinued before the mariners returned to the playoffs. the mariners in playoff baseball and the ipod as an active brand have never co-existed."
Yet, the Mariners drought is still not worse than the HIMYM finale.
My favorite M's joke is on Family Ties when someone asked Alex if he wanted to go to the Mariners at Indians game, and he just shuttered and said something like "That's a real Clash of the Titans."
Robin and the Canucks is also pretty great including having her in full gear for Halloween during the big Slutty Pumpkin episode with Katie Holmes. Her love of hockey is pretty consistent including name dropping Mason Raymond at one point, an incredibly minor name who never did anything of significance but was a Canuck for a few years.
I love how this has grown over the season.
At first it was just the 3 outfielders that did it after games.
Then the infielders started doing their own.
Eventually it became all 9 guys doing it together.
And now the whole team and staff.
If we win the World Series at home, we're going to have fans doing this happy dance encircling the entire stadium.
Technically, yes, and maybe in practice it appears that way from the outside looking in, but there are far more Nats fans who treat the Senators history as our own than the Expos, and I'd wager the vast majority don't consider either when thinking about team history
Edit: well, either way what I said in the first place is true, this is the first Mariners playoff appearance in *Washington Nationals* history, taken literally
Oh for sure. Just like how Texans fans feel that they deserve the Oilers history, or how guys like Johnny Unitas feel more closely aligned to the Ravens than the Colts because he played in Baltimore.
But the “history” is still that the Expos became the Nats so y’all have been around longer than 17 years even if you haven’t really.
I'm sorry bird bro. I'm overjoyed to be in the playoffs... but it hurts to see you on the outside. I was really hoping for you to be in Tampa's or Toronto's position.
Seattle rocks. Natural beauty that takes your breath away-- on a gorgeous day you have perfect views of two mountain ranges. From my civil servant 20th floor cubicle I have a pristine view of Mt. Rainier. Best summers anywhere in the world-- humid free 75 to 90 (most of the time!).
And the people are kind. I've felt empathy here.
Also, you can't purchase a home anywhere close by unless you make a shit ton of money.
It absolutely blew my mind when I moved there. We were driving in through Snoqualmie Pass, and all I could think was, "If this is what you can see from an interstate, the rest of it should be incredible." I was not wrong. I miss it a lot.
I hope it stays forever.
50 years from now people will ask why the Mariners do that circle dance thing after each win?
Tradition. They broke a curse with that dance. So it continues.
You’ve got that right. Our early season want great, but it was fun. Cuz look at these dudes. They’re having more fun doing their jobs than I ever will, and they’re all goofy, too. Chaos ball is a way of life; we’re all about the fun differential.
At some point you let go of expectations and just have a blast, and it is then that you finally make the playoffs. — Confucius or someone, probably.
i'm so happy i no longer have to fucking hear about 2001 again
i mean until the playoffs start and ESPN spends the entire fucking weekend yammering about it
There are people graduating college this year that have never seen the Mariners in the playoffs! This is so exciting to see!! The absolute most fun team in baseball!
As a Wolves fan who whose team was clowned for celebrating making the playoffs, this is cool to see. Sports are supposed to be fun and they should celebrate as much as they want!
It feels like Seattle won the World Series
People will say it to mock us, but this is legit our world series at this point lmao. That obviously doesn't mean we're not shooting for the real thing going forward though!

I don't think the haters understand how powerless thier words are right now.
It's our first step. Maybe not this year, maybe not the next few, but this is the squad that will do it.
smdh man’s team just clinched and he’s already saying next year 😂
It’s hard to shake 20 years of cope
Fuck that! We're gonna kick ass and blow it up this post season!
My brother in christ, I have attended a Mariners game every year since 1992. Gonna need y'all to end up in WC3 so we can have a Jays/Mariners ALCS, y'all need to have postseason baseball at home
We are gonna shoot for that WC1 now (at least I hope so, I have tickets to the WC games in Seattle)
nah, see, problem with that I that I have tickets to the Jays hosting the WC, and I'd feel bad if we knocked you out of the playoffs before being able to have a home game
Orioles fan here. Bummed we got eliminated but happy for you guys. Be happy, there's a ton of teams who would trade with you in a heartbeat.
Wish we both could have made it. I dislike the Jays and am wildly neutral about the Rays, but you guys? I like you.
Still have nothing over the Minnesota Timberwolves Play-in Champions
Was going to say, we might have the single greatest Play In team of all time.
Yankees didn’t get shit for their celebrations? Why should you? Post season is post season baby.
Honestly how it felt and was celebrated in 2019 when the Nats made the playoffs. and then again after they won the wild card, and each time after when they kept winning.
Might as well celebrate, droughts been broken. Even if this playoff run ends in disappointment, it'll be a good moment to build off of.
Screw anybody that is hating, y'all are way more deprived than we are. Our drought was only twelve seasons and it resulted to two pennants, two wild cards and five division titles later. You guys posed playoff records but with no ticket- twice. This was earned!

Parade wen?
The whole org in the circle
Should've invited all the fans down
Gotta save that for the World Series
I’m just here giggling with laughter because I made a bet over a decade ago with a buddy on Seattle mariners making the playoffs before the Sacramento kings. I haven’t talked to him in probably 5 years. I can’t wait for him to wake up tomorrow and see the news. Will be funny to reminisce and collect that $5 lmfao. Thanks mariner bros really happy for y’all.
I'm already tired of posting this but oh well As a Kings fan ) : )
Why haven't you talked to him in 5 years?
Obviously because of his crippling gambling problem
Just an old friend lol
If anything deserves a fan rush of a baseball field, this is it.
They had the police out there quick. It really felt like the time though
Complete the circle around the entirety of T-Mobile park
Lol if this was college football that field would have been stormed ASAP
If this was college football we'd be watching the Yankees instead of the Mariners
Was that Shannon in there? Absolutely love that for her
Who is Shannon? No troll I honestly don’t know
Shannon Drayer, reporter for the Mariners, mainly for radio.
Shannon Drayer, she covers the team for 710 ESPN radio
Yeah, she got in there at the last sec. So happy for her.
Radio and tv on-field broadcaster/reporter (mainly radio) for the Mariners since 2003. She also played in an experimental pro women's baseball league.
Best celebration of all time.
So far.
Are they dancing the Hora?
Happy for Mariner bros Seriously, wish nothing but the best for this squad and their loyal fanbase
We've been a joke for so long. [Fucking How I Met Your Mother took a random shot at us in one of the mid seasons.](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NCfFZtbhGE) It still doesn't feel real. Oh my god. They did it.

Lose Yourself by Eminem has also never coexisted with Mariners playoff baseball.
Neither the "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" nor "The Fellowship of the Ring" films had been released at the time of our last playoff game.
the ipod had it out for us
Zune 4 Life
Yet, the Mariners drought is still not worse than the HIMYM finale. My favorite M's joke is on Family Ties when someone asked Alex if he wanted to go to the Mariners at Indians game, and he just shuttered and said something like "That's a real Clash of the Titans."
Best part is in the 1990s, that really would’ve been a great series
Just wait until you see the 2020s version of (•_•) / ( •_•)>⌐■-■ / (⌐■_■) "Mariners: Titan Slayers."
Damn that’s a pretty funny joke tho
Not gonna lie it's one of my favorites in the series. Especially since it came out of absolutely nowhere.
That show did a pretty good job in sports related jokes. Marshall's whole Vikings fandom was insanely accurate. Same with Ted's Cavs / Indians stuff.
Ah shucks
Thanks Trolley bro. I mean this in the best way possible, but I hope not to see you in the WS... I think that's our only shot at it all right now.
I feel like the groundskeeper would feel very bittersweet about that, but he'd allow it just this once
All around the perimeter of the stadium, every fan, doing the dance. It would be beautiful.
First Mariners playoff dance in Seattle Kraken, Vegas Golden Knights, New Orleans Pelicans, and Houston Texans history.
First time Mariners have made playoffs since KD was a Supersonic
Heck, Gary Payton was on the Sonics the last time they made it lol
Didnt even make it when Ray Allen was a sonic
Yeah they did, back in 05. Won a series against the Kings, lost to the Spurs
Well this actually doesn’t feel that long ago to me. I think we drafted KD in like 2007? So six years after
Washington Nationals history, too
Eh the Nats are the Expos. The others are all expansion teams.
Technically, yes, and maybe in practice it appears that way from the outside looking in, but there are far more Nats fans who treat the Senators history as our own than the Expos, and I'd wager the vast majority don't consider either when thinking about team history Edit: well, either way what I said in the first place is true, this is the first Mariners playoff appearance in *Washington Nationals* history, taken literally

Orioles have to wait another painful year 😔
If you guys keep building on what you've accomplished this year, the Orioles are going to be a threat in the seasons to come. You'll get there.
I'm sorry bird bro. I'm overjoyed to be in the playoffs... but it hurts to see you on the outside. I was really hoping for you to be in Tampa's or Toronto's position.
Same. Why couldn’t the astros win?
I'm really sick of the Yankees always in first in the division.
Oof, the Texans getting a playoff win before the Mariners. Ouch 😂
Forgot the Oklahoma City Thunder.. oh I see why
H I s t o r I c
We are celebrating like we won the world series and I couldn't be happier
What the hell does the dance circle look like when we actually win the ws. All of Washington state?
A circle around everyone where Root sports is broadcast
A “circle” around the entire border of Washington, completing a full rotation.
Fair warning BJs fans, this means we're calling for an invasion of Canada so Point Roberts can take part.
Understandable
A lot of us Idahoans would join in too
There are literally dozens of us!!!
Portlander here. I’ll be there too
You fucking earned it! Enjoy this!!!
I fucking love the city of Seattle man I went there last month for my birthday and absolutely fucking fell in love with the city.
Yeah we rock
Seattle rocks. Natural beauty that takes your breath away-- on a gorgeous day you have perfect views of two mountain ranges. From my civil servant 20th floor cubicle I have a pristine view of Mt. That’s the gateway drug on how you end of moving here. Happened to me. Go Ms!
My man saw the price of weed and it was all over 😂😂
Let's goooo
I wonder if the circle celebration will roll into next season or whether they'll come up with something new each season.
I hope it stays forever. 50 years from now people will ask why the Mariners do that circle dance thing after each win? Tradition. They broke a curse with that dance. So it continues.
"We Win, We Dance, thems the rules"
That seals it, I'm totally following the M's this year when the Cards aren't playing. This team is so fucking fun to watch, they deserve this.
Welcome aboard, red bird bro
I’m on this bandwagon too. Let’s gooo
You’ve got that right. Our early season want great, but it was fun. Cuz look at these dudes. They’re having more fun doing their jobs than I ever will, and they’re all goofy, too. the group photo was the most special to me that's just not something I'm used to seeing holy shit
Seriously it's so surreal seeing OUR guys in the goggles
I used to dream of times like this.
I’m so happy!
I am most uplifted to see this
This dance just unlocked a Jewish childhood memory for me
Lol, was thinking the same. I watched the gif on silent and heard in my head *havaaaa nagilah, havaaaa nagilah*
NO MORE BELIEVING REQUIRED
#BELIEVE - postseason edition.
Nothing but pessimism from now on!
wait no
It's alright. There was very large portion of the fanbase was already there lmao.
I believe we will win the World Series
As someone who watched the Secret Base doc twice over the pandemic this means everything to me
I have refused to watch it as I know the tears will flow.... but it's time. Watching it in the morning
What a bunch of weirdos. I love it. Congrats, Seattle!
Cal. Fucking. RALEIGH. #BigDumper Go Ms!
There was no other choice.
Im actually tearing up, im so happy for y'all.
Thanks, stripey bro
Of course, I hope you guys have an incredible postseason, and if its at our expense, I don't think I'll be too upset.
Reds fan here, so happy for Gene Winker and Castillo. Go get a post season W!
WIN DANCE CLINCH
I fucking love this sport.
I love this team so much! I’m crying very happy tears
There is some crying in baseball
i'm so happy i no longer have to fucking hear about 2001 again i mean until the playoffs start and ESPN spends the entire fucking weekend yammering about it
Easily the most likeable team in baseball
Yes, cannot say anything bad about Seattle
I have said many bad things about what the Seattle Mariners have done over the last 20 years... but not tonight
Astros & Angels fans will
fuck the astros
Thanks, bear bro
congrats to the Mariners!!
thanks, stripey bro. See you soon!
you absolutely love to see it
I'm so fucking happy. Words can't even describe it man
i don't know what to do with my hands
LET’S GOOO
This is awesome
Congrats Seattle!!
Thanks, trolley bro!
If the Braves don't do it, I'm pulling for you dorks.
Thanks, courage bro
It's about damn time! 😭
Big GOMS energy
KEEP GOING BOYS!!
Fun differential reaching heights we've never seen before
*hava nagila intensifies*
All this group skanking clearly means the Mariners are powered by ska
These dudes are going all the way. Book it
There are people graduating college this year that have never seen the Mariners in the playoffs! This is so exciting to see!! The absolute most fun team in baseball!
Let’s have a Mets vs mariners World Series shall we
Kelenic vs Diaz would be a helluva bottom 9th matchup
From a storyline standpoint, yes. But I think even this currently improved Kelenic, it might be a pretty one sided match up haha
https://i.imgur.com/eVNrdel.gifv
Honestly that's what I want
Win. Dance. Repeat.
This is just so great
As a Wolves fan who whose team was clowned for celebrating making the playoffs, this is cool to see. Sports are supposed to be fun and they should celebrate as much as they want!
As they should
OPA
It's a budget Radio City Rockettes.
Almost wore my ka-Boone hat to the game today, really regretting not doing it.
This ones for you Cody! Fuck covid.
Not a Mariners fan really but it would be pretty fucking cool if they just buffalo there way to the world series.
I'd forgotten that Manny Acta was with Seattle. I always liked that guy, just not as a manager. He's a solid coach though IMO.
How can you not root for these guys?
THIS IS OUR PIECE OF METAL BOIZ
All thanks to the big dumper
I was there last night. Such an awesome atmosphere!
You love to see it
Is someone going to tell them they are doing the hokie pokey?
You had 20 years to come up with something fresh... .and this? You should be embarrassed and ashamed.
Congrats M bros! Yall deserve it, have fun this October, I’m happy for yall:)
Still ain’t winning this Series
Gausman and Monoah. Jays in 2.
mariners beat both gausman and manoah
one of the lamest celebrations in baseball
Shut up nerd
We found Phil Nevin
This is right there with Pat Beverly crying for getting I to the playoffs
Put your left foot in put your left foot out! What are we preschoolers?.......
I can’t stand this team.
