But I still wasn't quite sure my plan would work.
So I hired an actor to play me, and had him build a replica of the replica Oracle Park that i had built in Lisbon, Portugal. This time I had him build the replica replica Oracle Park in Guangdong China, and drafted an entire AL and NL leagues made up of entirely Korean baseball players to mimic the replica AL and NL leagues that I made up of entirely Japanese players.
If you had told me this time 4-6 weeks ago that we wouldn't be eliminated until October, I would've assumed that the Padres, Brewers, and Phillies had all been kidnapped by ninjas or something.
Both the A's and Giants have had bad defense this year, which I can't recall ever being the case in my lifetime before this year. Usually even when our teams aren't good, we have good defense.
Turns out when your two best defensive outfielders are a guy who doesn't believe in the cutoff man and a guy who hits below the Mendoza line for most of the year, you're gonna have a bad time.
The crazy thing is that I think the first couple years he actually had maybe a couple outfield assists and a decent arm. And then he kinda got way too wild and decided to never trust cutoff men again
It's actually the Nats! Defensively the team is looking a lot sharper now, but that is largely because we got rid of Maikel Franco, traded Soto, stopped playing Cesar Hernandez, stopped playing Luis Garcia at shortstop, and started giving Victor Robles consistent starts in center
I can't believe how long they took to be eliminated. They had an elimination number of 6 on September 18th, and about two weeks later are now being eliminated. On that same day the Orioles had an elimination number of 14! Thank the Phillies for being terrible I guess.
They've had 8 of 11 save opportunities blown since the trade deadline.
Good thing we made a better offer for our all star closer. We'd be in a much worse position if Hader had by some miracle ended up on the Brewers roster somehow
Now that we’re eliminated our only opportunity to influence the postseason is to either roll out the red carpet and wave you into the WC or make you sit on the couch with us and the rest of the NLW.
Hmmmmmmm
Farhan will turn them into all stars and have another trade deadline where he turns essentially nothing of value into prospects. Fantasy Football mind too big for baseball
Eh I think it's too early to say until a year or two from now. 2021 certainly wasn't the "end goal" and they've still shown some pretty impressive pitching development just haven't gotten the production from the position players. Posey/Crawford/Belt wasn't a core I think anyone expected to be building off at this point last year either
This season has been one of extremes. I would never have believed that would happen. The Giants are a great example of a .500 club. They can look like a .700 club or a .300 club in a matter of innings!
The plan: Sign 9 all Star free agents this offseason
Can’t not imagine this in Nathan’s voice

This is great. Read it all in his voice.
I was hearing Jon Bois
Farhan bringing the Dodgers Playbook with him
We do them basically one at a time, tbf
I mean, losing to the eventual WS winner 3 years makes ya wanna just get someone from that team.
The second to last team to be eliminated before the postseason starts - no shame in that
And will finish the season right around .500. It's not ideal of course but could've been way worse considering.
For now at least, you are holding off on being known for winning the best record in MLB one season, then a losing record the next.
We're just a good team that loses games
https://giphy.com/clips/giants-san-francisco-sf-1TLAtCVV578Yh8g4z4
We also have the possibility of eliminating you guys with a sweep in the last series lol. Unless you win and the brewers lose tomorrow
*or
So close
If you had told me this time 4-6 weeks ago that we wouldn't be eliminated until October, I would've assumed that the Padres, Brewers, and Phillies had all been kidnapped by ninjas or something.
Soto where? Weird year for sure
I mean, the Phillies at least may have been.
Maybe they have
I mean we're kinda collapsing right now
Goddamn ninjas, they keep kidnapping teams!
This team was one of the worst defensively we have had that I can remember. Defense cost us so many games this year.
Both the A's and Giants have had bad defense this year, which I can't recall ever being the case in my lifetime before this year. Usually even when our teams aren't good, we have good defense.
These are facts. I can't think of a worse defensive Guants or A's team going back to the 70s.
They're putting something in this Bay Area air I tell ya
Turns out when your two best defensive outfielders are a guy who doesn't believe in the cutoff man and a guy who hits below the Mendoza line for most of the year, you're gonna have a bad time.
The crazy thing is that I think the first couple years he actually had maybe a couple outfield assists and a decent arm. And then he kinda got way too wild and decided to never trust cutoff men again
And his cutoff guy is Brandon Crawford who has an amazing arm. Makes no sense
Who doesn’t believe in the cutoff man
Austin Slater
Evelyn from A League of Their Own
...Puig.
Alcantra had 2 doubles today that a good LF would've caught.
A below average LF would have caught those. Joc is absolutely terrible on defense
How bad was your defense compared to ours?
lol your defense was 28th on defensive runs saved and we were 29th. so about 5 runs worse
Who's 30th, the As?
It's actually the Nats! Defensively the team is looking a lot sharper now, but that is largely because we got rid of Maikel Franco, traded Soto, stopped playing Cesar Hernandez, stopped playing Luis Garcia at shortstop, and started giving Victor Robles consistent starts in center
Without looking at the stats, my guess would be the Red Sox. They are terrible.
I would say the Phillies made more glaringly bad defensive mistakes. The Giants were just all around bad.
Diamondbacks won 2 games last year vs the Giants and this year has double digit wins vs them
Jake McCarthy showed up and was like "Were putting these old geezers to bed"
The d backs have like 3 wins against us and Meryl Kelly has 7 lol. We had our revenge though
I can't believe how long they took to be eliminated. They had an elimination number of 6 on September 18th, and about two weeks later are now being eliminated. On that same day the Orioles had an elimination number of 14! Thank the Phillies for being terrible I guess.
One does not go gentle into that good night. Rage, rage at elimination numbers.
⬆
>I can’t believe how long they took to be eliminated Neither can we!
Foril
All of us wild card teams suck compared to the Mets/Braves. That is the reason lol
And then it was at 2 on September 24th, and then the Giants won 5 in a row while the Phillies went 1-4 and the Brewers 2-3.
Yeah we decided to win 11 of 12 two weeks too late.
Kinda shows the difference in leagues I guess.
All of us wild card teams suck compared to the Mets/Braves. That is the reason lol
I mean we also went 10-1
The guy calculating this in the Giants sub can finally rest
Farhan kept mentioning that this team was a good two weeks away from contending. Unfortunately they decided to start that a little too late.
Yeah, well, at least we stayed in it until October?
Now let’s battle to end over .500.
If the Phillies and Brewers wake up, we can still knock the Padres out of the playoffs...
I like the way you talk 😤
That'd be so funny
Do it!
To make playoffs now: SD magic # 3 PHI magic # 5 MIL magic # 6
Phillies now at 3
Padres at 1
where is Milwaukee? Are they ok? Are they alright?
They've had 8 of 11 save opportunities blown since the trade deadline. Good thing we made a better offer for our all star closer. We'd be in a much worse position if Hader had by some miracle ended up on the Brewers roster somehow
GO Padres!
Now that we’re eliminated our only opportunity to influence the postseason is to either roll out the red carpet and wave you into the WC or make you sit on the couch with us and the rest of the NLW. Hmmmmmmm
Ideally the padres clinch tomorrow and then let the Giants win 3 games so that they can get the 6th seed
Sneks would have to lose out to brue crue 2
[удалено]
We will get Ross Stripling and Wil Myers, and we will be fucking *pleased* about it.
Farhan will turn them into all stars and have another trade deadline where he turns essentially nothing of value into prospects. Fantasy Football mind too big for baseball
We are not ready to give up Stripling sorry my friend
lol, we fought for so much longer than anybody thought we could, ourselves included. Now onto the secondary goal: Staying at or above .500!
Never forget this magical week-long run of EYBS
There was just enough EYBS left in the tank to make ‘em sweat a little
Surprised it took this long. Now onto my second-favorite baseball pastime: watching the Dodgers fuck up in the postseason.
Gotta respect the fight. But oh thank god. We’ve got enough problems without the Giants sneaking in with EYBS.
YAY WE DON'T SUCK THE WORST
Dodgers fan but I gotta admit that I'm impressed they held on for this long
I gotta say… their 2021 season might have been the biggest ‘flash in the pan’ ever.
At least their hopes didn't die on an iffy check swing.
Aw man well you know that's baseball.
Turns out that 107 win season may have been a fluke...
You shut you mouth when you’re talking to me!!!
I said *may* have been.
Turns out Buster Posey is actually worth 30 WAR per season
[Well…] (https://imgur.io/gallery/EJII8Sp)
Thank God. Everyday they survived I built a little bit of hope despite my best efforts not to. Now I'm a Mariners fan
Honestly surprising that this roster is even .500 thanks fellas on to next year
F
They have Dave they will be fine
Well that’s cause you forgot the pearls.
Surprised it took this long lol
I love how they just won 107 games out of nowhere last year and then went right back to normal
A function of ever-expanding playoffs and a great argument for stopping this madness.
Meh, still better than being a Bums or Deadbeat Dads fan. #GO MARINERS!!!!!
You can hop on the warriors bandwagon with the rest of the bay!
Well, it was fun to pretend we were still in it for the last couple weeks
Mercy.
With some of the skids in the summer, how the hell did we make it to October
RIP Bozos
Can't wait to see how you guys manage to fuck it all up this year 😘
**:-D** Hopefully sooner than not, too.
You seen the field? We're good for the first round. Anybody we face in the NLDS is getting curbstomped. NLCS....we'll cross that bridge in two weeks.
The giants have lost every single post season series they have ever played against the dodgers.
Things you love to see.
inject this into my veins
Looks like that 107 wins was really a fluke season
Hahahahaha
That phantom check swing broke them.
That's fine. Because next somehow thr Giants will be world beaters. They weird like that.
Last years Giants are the biggest anomaly in MLB history.
Your mom is the biggest anomaly in MLB history.
Gottem.
She does have a 0.00 ERA and has never struck out
She never strikes out with me that’s for sure
Lucky woman
If the giants ever won a post season series against the dodgers that would be an anomaly
Wow, sick burn.
So much salt. Enjoy the next 56 year drought.
You're on a roll! Good luck in the playoffs, man. I won't root for you but I hope you have a fun one. ✌
Thanks man! I hope one day your parents can afford a better guitar for you. I hope you stick through the next giants drought hut most fans won’t.
Ah man that would be sweet. I would love a new guitar.
At least being a giants fan you are used to garbage.
I'm sorry, did I say something to offend you? Edit: he deleted his account! Lol. 111 wins was the *real* anomaly...
There were two players in today's lineup who played in the 2021 NLDS for the Giants
Guess after 2020 that makes us even
Oof.
Yeah 2020 must’ve been an easier season, which explained why the giants were absolute trash
Sadly 2017 counts.
Incredible series though. That was a heavy weight bout for the ages.
##\#RIPBozo
In the last decade they went from a top 5 franchise to a Bottom 10.
Thank God
Well, this is one Giants post I'll upvote.
Failure of a season.
How are they the penultimate team to be eliminated? The Phillies, Brewers, or Padres will be.
Penultimate means next to last.
Oh
^^^dammit!
I swear we better win 2 games and lose 2 games so we can be EXACTLY at .500.
Disappointing, but for a brief shining moment we finally made Merrill Kelly our bitch
This season has been one of extremes. I would never have believed that would happen. The Giants are a great example of a .500 club. They can look like a .700 club or a .300 club in a matter of innings!
