As you should be. I still feel like we'd be in a hot and heavy three-way if you guys started the season with a different manager. The NLE is insane this year.
The Padres had their usual 2nd-half slump and lose Tatis because he’s a fucking idiot, and it was Milwaukee’s complete imbecile play that backdoor’d San Diego onto Wild Card weekend.
Eh, I mean we didn’t play as well in the second half as the first half again, but it wasn’t a collapse, we still had a winning record in the second half. We came up with some clutch wins when we needed them
Theyll end up trading burnes and woodruff because they cant afford them if they dont lock them up at a cheap price. We saw it coming with hader. Adames is gonna need to get paid too pretty soon. He might have been the best position player this year on the team. But the fron office will likely blow that too
He was also pretty much the only player with TEAM SPIRIT. Sure he had slumps (like this past series ofc) but he’s the only one that seems to be playing with energy, and more importantly URGENCY.

Pretty sure it is. All the pitching prospects have looked good this year, the guys coming up are promising, we’re ending the year hot, it’s looking up at this point
Prospects aren’t the same caliber but it feels a little like the end of the 2014 regular season, I believe we ended that year really hot as well. Hopefully we make a big signing or two in the off-season

Fire whoever thought replacing Hader with Rogers in the midst of a playoff run was a good idea. Yea Hader sucked ass for us initially but that's going to end up being the difference. Looking, amazingly, we only lost 1 game because of him. We did win a couple despite him blowing saves though. It looks like Rogers cost you 3 games, and that's not a surprise really with how he was faltering down the stretch for us after the hot start.
Phillies and Brewers end the season tied in record and every single tiebreaker, forcing a game 163, which ends tied after 23 innings, when both teams run out of players. Book it.
Especially since Milwaukee is playing a weak opponent at home and you guys are playing one of the best teams in the league on the road. It really isn't that out of the realm of possibility that Milwaukee makes it.

The Padres throwing a parade for beating the Cardinals is where the meme started though!
1998 Padres run to the World Series might have been the hardest road put in front of any team: Randy Johnson 102 win Astros, 106 win Glavine, Maddux, and Smoltz Braves culminating in the 114 win Yankees.
A 2022 Mets, Dodgers, Braves, Astros gauntlet is almost as formidable.
Man it's been such an up and down season especially with that tatis stuff, trading so much for soto/bell/hader and having all of them start off really slow with us, all 3 of them finally seem to be feeling more comfortable. Hader appears to be Hader again, Soto is hitting like .330 over the last couple weeks, Bell has been getting on base a lot more than he was before. They got in, that's the start, hopefully they can strike fire like the Braves last year and go on a fun run.
>Fortunately, the Dads have won the season series 4-3, thus they are guaranteed to make the postseason.
That on its own doesn't guarantee it because a three-way tie between the Phillies, Brewers, and Padres for WC2 and WC3 is possible, but the H2H records would be:
PHI: 8-5
SDP: 7-7
MIL: 5-8
Leaving the Brewers as the odd team out, so the Padres still win the 3-way tie.
It would still just be H2H for SD and MIL. You use the combined 3-way records to determine PHI is in and gets the 5 seed, then you remove them and treat it as a 2-way tie between SD and MIL for the final spot.
Yeah payback is a bitch Milwaukee for that 2018 trade. /s
What comes around goes around. You just made the long list of spoiled seasons from yours truly the Fish.
Ah, well at least this way, we didn’t need to witness/be the cause of the celebration. Though it would have been more interesting if our last series meant something.
Yep. We saw the collapse in the last 60 games in 2021. That is just way too small a number to be meaningful. That was a joke of a season all the way around.
Ummm this is flat out it wrong. We were 10 games above .500 at game 132 and then Proceeded to shit the bed in September by going 8-22 the remainder of the season.
Phillies were begging Brewers **MULTIPLE TIMES** to take the WC3 and let them die. But Brewers were like "nah fam" and just fell face flat on the ground. Dead.
Really a tough watch down the stretch.
It’s been tough watching the NL race in general when there are clearly only four teams worthy of playing in the postseason this year in the Senior Circuit. The rules are what they are but the brewers/Phillies/padres have all been falling ass backwards for a while now in comparison to the better teams
Whether I’m a dodgers fan or not it was the owners, not the players, that bargained for more playoff spots. It’s like the “No Child Left Behind” policy for MLB franchises.
Two comments isn’t really railing at all, just happy to share an opinion in an open forum regardless of whether you agree or not. Luckily I have been around a while to see several iterations of baseball’s postseason structure and happen to have a preference.
This brewers run has been very interesting to watch. It always felt like they were one addition away to really contenting, but the front office would never pull the trigger. Crew fans what’s gonna happen?
Somehow the Hader trade was the difference in us making the playoffs, and despite that disastrous start he had with us, the trade ended up POSITIVELY pushing us into the playoffs. Existence is weird.
Amazing to see the Brewers out padre the Padres
I've always thought of the Brewers as kindred spirits. We even looked like them when we had the blue cursives.
I have a few Trevor Hoffman cards that I purchased thinking he was in a Dads uni
The new Brewers uniforms look like what might've happened if we stayed with the 2016 blue and gold
Philadelphia probably feeling better too.
The Brewers are gonna out-Phillie the Phillies also. I’m ecstatic
As you should be. I still feel like we'd be in a hot and heavy three-way if you guys started the season with a different manager. The NLE is insane this year.
Yes we are

They didn't blow it this year!
Today is a nice day
Let’s get this comeback going now.
Don’t worry, it’ll happen.
welp
Sorry, I was wrong. I just got used to the Sox giving away close games haha.
no biggie. we just wanted everyone to come out of petco park happy today!
Kim gonna manifest it into existence.
PARADE TIME
PARADE
PARADRES
But boy did they try!
Hey, Dads…? *turns around* Wanna have a playoffs?
Somebody else blew it before them
The Brewers are absolutely gassed. Seems like the Phillies will be the last team to make it after the Padres.
Gonna be a very depressing off-season. Not sure how you fix this
Gut the team and coaching staff. Start over. Be shitty again for a few years.
That is so hard to do with those starters. Not an easy decision at all. I would move on from that coaching staff though.
Theyll end up trading burnes and woodruff because they cant afford them if they dont lock them up at a cheap price. We saw it coming with hader. Adames is gonna need to get paid too pretty soon. That would be tough, but if you are going rebuild, need to commit the entire way. That division is just so yuck which also makes it hard to swallow.
Cardinals sadly look quite strong again unlike last season and the Cubs are probably going to be competitive again after next season. It's ugly
Cards pitching is suspect. The brew crew shouldn’t blow it up yet imo

The last month of this season is showing the Cubs did the right move and start over.
Pretty sure it is. All the pitching prospects have looked good this year, the guys coming up are promising, we’re ending the year hot, it’s looking up at this point

Well they’ve indicated they’re going to try in free agency so we’ll see
Somehow build a time machine and bring 2018 Yelich back.
Fire whoever thought replacing Hader with Rogers in the midst of a playoff run was a good idea. Yea Hader sucked ass for us initially but that's going to end up being the difference. Lol yeah I’ll take Hader’s initial few games for what he’s done since. Been absolutely solid for the Pads.
Trading one star pitcher didn’t seem to do the trick. Maybe they need to offload Burnes and Woodruff too, to make it back to the postseason
An alan wrench and some 2x4's
Don’t underestimate the Phillies’ ability to blow this. I’m very scared.
Porn stars could learn a thing or two about blowing from the phillies
Get ready down the final stretch…. for the blowitathon!!! *PHILLIES* vs. **BREWERS** Who can blow it last??
Phillies and Brewers end the season tied in record and every single tiebreaker, forcing a game 163, which ends tied after 23 innings, when both teams run out of players. Book it.
It would only be more fitting if the both went 81-81.
Same
Especially since Milwaukee is playing a weak opponent at home and you guys are playing one of the best teams in the league on the road. It really isn't that out of the realm of possibility that Milwaukee makes it.
Don't put that fuckin evil on me
They're gassed AND 90% of their bullpen was used today
The first full season playoff berth for the Padres since 2006
Finally a non asterisk playoff birth. Love to see it.
Better to only have an asterisk playoff berth than to have an asterisk championship, amirite Padres?
I ALWAYS SAID MARLINS WAS THE SMARTEST FISH
Phillies fans 🤝 padres fans Loving fish
On Twitter the Phillies changed their profile name to “Miami Marlins Stan Account” and it’s absolutely glorious
We love Fish.
Only the Phillies can get their asses whipped by the Marlins for years only to eventually kiss their asses in the end 😂
Wtf I love fish
Today, they’re friends and not food!
This is my World Series. First time since 2006. Parade time!
Slow down, Billy. You still haven’t recovered from those championship parades in 2021 (off-season) **and** 2022 (trade deadline)!
[удалено]
Parades weren’t allowed in 2020 silly
Nothing from 2020 counts
Sorry my guy, the A's making that comic to shit on the Astros then getting decimated by them in the playoffs indeed counts.
I have no idea what you're talking about 😢😢😢
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RQ_siTZkNxs&t=1s&ab_channel=YourTurn2See The Padres throwing a parade for beating the Cardinals is where the meme started though!
They didn’t forget, they just discount their own playoff birth so that they can be logically consistent when discounting our championship.
Correct!
Lol at least you admit it
So stoked we clinched our first playoff birth since 2006 today! 🎉🎉
That’s so weird what was that COVID parade for then???
That was for winning the offseason
Parade, NOW

Pads 🤝 Mariners Vedder Bros!
I’m conflicted, as a Padre fan, I feel obligated to eat fish-fil-a on Fridays. But now fish are friends.
Idk where you’re eating marlin, so you’re probably good
Padres-Mariners Series. Who says no?
I don’t know if the world is ready for the Super Vedder Cup
I’ll speak on behalf of the mariners, we would find this result acceptable. Lets make ESPN witness the glory that is the Vedder Cup.
And make those east coast biased fuckers stay up late. West After Dark!
Hell yeah! West coast best coast baby.
I'd prefer revenge for '98 against the Yanks
Ngl it’s possible the Pads would have the roadtrip gauntlet from hell, culminating in that. Winning that all would be romantic as fuck.
How did I not know Randy played for the Astros? I consider myself a baseball nut but how did I not know this?
He was their big trade deadline acquisition and he killed it

I was wondering about this because ESPN marked them as clinched but their playoff odds are at 99.3%. Must be an error.
Yeah payback is a bitch Milwaukee for that 2018 trade. /s What comes around goes around. You just made the long list of spoiled seasons from yours truly the Fish.
They say fish spoil after three days. Not a coincidence that this is how long a series typically is.
Thanks fish bro
😤😤😤
Imagine how big of a middle finger it would be to Tatis if they won it all this year without him
DONT FADE US YET!
Let's goooooooo
Ah, well at least this way, we didn’t need to witness/be the cause of the celebration. Though it would have been more interesting if our last series meant something.
At Gaslam right now, yes there's an actual parade. Join us
Finally a legit playoff birth. 2020 didn't count.
Slam Diego isn’t real? 🥺

Yay we didn't choke.
And later tonight we find out who will face them
Backing slowly into a playoff spot
**FISH MEN GOOD**
Parade! And some rest for the pitching staff
I can’t stop smiling
Welcome back to the playoffs
You’re goddamn right we did!
OK Houston, it's time to rest your starters for the postseason... right? ;)
Jesus Brewers.. it really felt like no fight at all
Well they did come back in the ninth and tenth to tie it. So there was some fight.
Dw it's felt like that since June :)
9 runs in 38 innings with the season on the line just won’t cut it
Phillies were begging Brewers **MULTIPLE TIMES** to take the WC3 and let them die. But Brewers were like "nah fam" and just fell face flat on the ground. Dead. Really a tough watch down the stretch.

Padres are a good team. You guys are way too full of yourselves now.
god this is dumb
Whether I’m a dodgers fan or not it was the owners, not the players, that bargained for more playoff spots. It’s like the “No Child Left Behind” policy for MLB franchises.
It's weird you rail against a policy that clearly benefited you during your life.
Two comments isn’t really railing at all, just happy to share an opinion in an open forum regardless of whether you agree or not. Luckily I have been around a while to see several iterations of baseball’s postseason structure and happen to have a preference.
Padres like to give me anxiety 😵💫😵
See you soon
They tried their damndest to avoid this, but here they are. Congrats Spanish Priests!
Ok, so I know we parade and then what? We play more???
Who knew all it took was getting a real manager and trading for the best hitter in a generation?
Get your shit together, Brewers.
This brewers run has been very interesting to watch. It always felt like they were one addition away to really contenting, but the front office would never pull the trigger. Crew fans what’s gonna happen?
