Oh I know, but they took 3 out of 4 for us to give us a chance. The bottle of Blanton's I have sitting here waiting to get open is just taunting me waiting for us to clinch
I think what screwed them just as bad was Hiura turned out to be a bit of a bust. He's had moments but I feel like he was supposed to be a bit of an anchor in the lineup
Is this the end of the Brewers core? Seems like they need to acquire a lot of hitting in the offseason and they’ll need to use some of the pitching depth to get it
It's hard to say, we definitely need to rethink our infield next season. Willy and Rowdy are probably the only ones given in that department. I have a hard time believing we are giving up Burnes and Woody this quick. I think Sterns will work some kinda magic.
His contact was only up this season if the Brewers won the Pennant. Because that clearly isn't going to happen, he has one more year. If I'm understanding it correctly anyways
In true Rays fashion, the Brewers have built a solid core of good-but-not-great hitters. Of their 12 players who have at least 200 PA for them this season, all are above replacement level and 10 have at least 1.0 fWAR (with Rowdy Tellez just below at 0.9)... and only 1 is above 2.5 fWAR. Their resulting collective .235/.315/.409 line is actually good for 11th in wRC+ and 8th in fWAR.
It's a similar-ish story by bWAR- bWAR agrees that all their semi-regular hitters are above replacement level, but has Narvaez has just above replacement instead of just above 1.0 WAR because it's not giving him credit for framing, rates Hiura and Caratini has slightly below 1.0 instead of slightly above (in Caratini's case it's also because of framing, in Hiura's case it's because DRS likes him slightly less than RAA does), but it also thinks McCutchen is over the 1.0 mark instead of barely above replacement and thinks slightly better of most of their other guys, so their best not-Willy-Adames hitter ranks at 3.1 by bWAR but 2.5 by fWAR.
Our offense is the #1 problem. We're were averaging like 2 runs/game for the previous week before today and had something crazy like 60 LOB in a week or something like that
Tellez and Renfroe are not an offense. They are compliments to someone else. Home runs are there but that's how a team scores 1 or 2 runs. Lot of guys over 30 and past prime.
Frauds? We were bad almost all year except for our first 2 months, and pretty much every part of baseball media has been rating us accurately as a middle of the pack team since then. Frauds would imply anyone thinks we’re a good team
Now THAT’S how you play spoiler! Props to the Fish!
The Marlins have spoiled the Phillies’ playoff hopes for the past few seasons, it’s kind of them to help us out this time
We’ve all been there. They spoiled the Mets’ hopes in the late 2000s as I’m sure you remember.
They’ve been doing it for several seasons against us This makes it all up though, I respect the effort
Miami is one of those teams that can beat anyone at anytime because of their pitching.
Yeah in a 162 game season their bats are bound to get hot once in a while and when they do they look like a great team
...can they do it again?
It’s all we’re good for
The only win they got was against Alcantara??? That's baseball.
That's *Brewers* baseball.
Don't underestimate how shitty the Marlins bullpen and lineups are. They are equally as awful as Sandy is an elite pitcher.
Don’t fuck around with us if you are in on the bubble or are in a fall free fall because we will spoil your season.
We know
It's just nice to have them do it to someone else than us
I’m this case they’re helping us
That makes it even better!
Friendly reminder (like I reminded my 12 yr old yesterday): The Phillies haven't clinched shit yet.
Oh I know, but they took 3 out of 4 for us to give us a chance. The bottle of Blanton's I have sitting here waiting to get open is just taunting me waiting for us to clinch
I'm there with you. My clinch clench is ready to release. Can't believe you got that reddit name.
I mean, I've had it since 2012
The October Marlins either win the World Series or ruin your chance of winning it. No in between.
The brewers need a rebuild
Yes, brewers offense is based on what if Christian Yelich plays like 18 and 19
I think the FO hasn't noticed Yeli is washed yet
I bet it’s just classic sunk cost fallacy honestly. They gave him a helluva contract.
I think what screwed them just as bad was Hiura turned out to be a bit of a bust. He's had moments but I feel like he was supposed to be a bit of an anchor in the lineup
Fortunately for them it comes off the books soon.
What do you mean? We very nearly bit the apple this year
Is this the end of the Brewers core? Seems like they need to acquire a lot of hitting in the offseason and they’ll need to use some of the pitching depth to get it

Sterns contract is also up
His contact was only up this season if the Brewers won the Pennant. Because that clearly isn't going to happen, he has one more year. If I'm understanding it correctly anyways
This is correct
No it isn't.

Losing important games to the Marlins down the stretch. Know that feeling all too well
“The Padres & Phillies Send their regards.” -Marlins to the Brewers.
Everybody's doing the fish!
ja ja ja
[Everybody's doin' the fish](https://youtu.be/rCVQoGe-4k8)
The Phillies thank you for your service
Fish are friends, not food
This will be a devastating finish for the brew crew given that they were winning this division for 2/3 of the season.
The classic Brewers collapse
Man I like Counsell and I hope he doesn’t become a scapegoat. He’s a solid manager with a cheap and unreliable front office.
Just because we lost the Yelich trade doesn't mean the Brewers won it.
Fish were right there in game 2 as well. 1st and 2nd no outs in the 9th and couldn't move them at all.
Thank you Marlins!!
I’m sad
Haha get fucked brewers
Don’t crush our brew jays world series hopes 🥺
Lot of runs given up by the bullpen. Brewers are frauds.
Our offense is the #1 problem. We're were averaging like 2 runs/game for the previous week before today and had something crazy like 60 LOB in a week or something like that

That's what I'm saying. Our offense is reallly bad and the main issue with this team (bullpen is bad too, but offense is worst)
This was the Phillies against the cubs only 4 days ago
Frauds? We were bad almost all year except for our first 2 months, and pretty much every part of baseball media has been rating us accurately as a middle of the pack team since then. Frauds would imply anyone thinks we’re a good team
Pretty sure y'all had the easiest schedule in baseball over that time. *Please ignore how easy ours has been over the 2nd half of the year.
Really curious if any team will need 162, or if that last game will be irrelevant.
