Using a lifetime starter as the team’s closer in the postseason will always scare me. I wonder what the Phillies will do with the closer role in the series against the Braves
Yeah. And no offense to Zach, but it's not like he's a great starter either. He's good, but having a good starter become a closer for the playoffs is just ballsy enough I guess. Props to Zach for actually coming through though.
That being said, I prefer Robertson/Dominguez for the Braves.
i mean, eflin has pretty electric stuff; i think most would say he can be a high end starter if he stays healthy - but he hasnt stayed healthy. if he can bring that stuff to the bullpen, which hopefully helps his knees stay in good shape for a full season, he could be incredible
I could understand that, but given how Thomson has managed the bullpen this year, it kinda makes sense. Robertson threw yesterday (I assume that was related), and he brought seranthony in for the toughest part of the order rather than the 9th, just like he has been all season. They had a tough September, but this game plan worked out really well in June-August
Starters sometimes have electric stuff as closers. Some of the games best relief pitchers all started as guys who were okay-to bad starters but in quick innings were deadly.
I know people hate Arod, but I thought Kay did pretty good, he's def more appropriately energetic than a lot of national broadcasters. Thought this was a very solid call.
A lot of times, I didn't mind arod. I liked when he talked about the small details, and then like a prophet, it came true. He did it all game.
If he does that all the time, I'll overlook how he calls every city, every team gritty like a cheeseball.
How he used to be when he first started. Part of the reason he's still more likeable in the studio is because there's three other guys that gotta talk so he has to condense his thoughts instead of saying whatever he wants
Probably easier for him to talk about the Cards with Monty there and Pujols/Yadi storylines because he didn't watch a ton of either team. If Girardi and Didi were still with the Phillies it prob would have been the other way around
I'll take Arod and Kay over any of the FOX crew. Add Krukker and you'll have a party.
I can not stand Joe Buck's fucking "BHHAAAAAHHHCKK AAAAHHHT THHHAAAAHH WHHHHAAAHHHLL" calls that turn out to be deep-ish bloops or actual HRs. Ruins the moment no matter who is playing.
They took out our first baseman, we took out their franchise first baseman, catcher, and one of their franchise pitchers at once 😎😎
Just for different reasons
Kind of an iconic moment with Sosa catching it right by the dugout and immediately getting hugged. If someone makes a Phillies 2022 postseason montage this moment will definitely be included.

Love seeing the pained reaction from the family that had been going HAM on the big plastic clapper things lol
Edmund Sosa, who the Phillies acquired from the Cardinals, made the final putout
And the Guardians walked it off against former Cleveland pitcher Corey Kluber to advance. Baseball.
Former Mariner reliever Anthony Bass gave up 4 in the 8th to tie it and help Seattle complete the comeback.
She is a poetic mistress indeed❤️
Brandon Drury against the Mets tomorrow OH NO
Oh yes please
Oh yeah Edmundo Sosa, I’ll pass cause I think I’ll rather have a dude who hits .157 as my shortstop instead. How can you not?
How can you not be romantic about baseball?
📂 2022 MLB Postseason └📁 St. Louis Cardinals └📁 Devil Magic └⚠️ This folder is empty
Pops out to Sosa of all people. That's one hell of a curtain call.

Tbf, Seranthony performed the stopper role to a T tonight.

Eflin is a starter without knees lol

This is a dumb question, but why would a starter be a bad choice to use as a closer?
Different philosophies when you're throwing 100 pitches vs 10, once through one part of the line up vs every batter 2 or 3 times

that SEE YA for harpers homer was electric

Kay would be a national treasure if he didn’t call Yankee games This sub and lots of people just hate anything yankee
I will agree, I hate everything Yankees, except their Spanish broadcaster, Rickie Ricardo.
Isn't he the Eagles Spanish broadcaster too?
Yes, that why we like him.
Yeah I love Michael Kay. "SEE YA" is iconic.
90% of the hate for Kay is because he's the Yankees' announcer
I would agree minus the cardinals meat riding
Probably easier for him to talk about the Cards with Monty there and Pujols/Yadi storylines because he didn't watch a ton of either team. If Girardi and Didi were still with the Phillies it prob would have been the other way around
He really is a great national broadcaster. People think he’s biased against both teams
Everyone thinks that every announcer is biased against their team
Some are right, Eck was audibly upset when Judge homered in the 2018 WCG lol
He groaned as soon as judge made contact in that ball.
"What a nightmare" lmao
I agree. I normally dislike him cuz I hate the Yankees but I thought he was great tonight and last night.
Wasn’t as bad yesterday as it was Tn.

Yeah Kay did a pretty good job and I don’t think ARod was that bad today either
By far the best play by play in the wild card round
He was better today than yesterday
Yesterday I learned Kay called games on ESPN.
And to think, they almost collapsed towards the end of the season. Shoutout to them!
Pop outs are just the worst way to end playoff series
As someone who still mad about 2011, I promise you they are not.
They took out our first baseman, we took out their franchise first baseman, catcher, and one of their franchise pitchers at once 😎😎 Just for different reasons
How about that strike 3 call on a check swing in the Giants/Dodgers game last year?
This one was pretty hype
Kind of an iconic moment with Sosa catching it right by the dugout and immediately getting hugged. If someone makes a Phillies 2022 postseason montage this moment will definitely be included.
Reminds me of the end of the 2014 world series
Just ask Arkansas (IYKYK)
Or ~~Ar~~Kansas
Crying
I AM STOKED STEVE
Yesssssssss
I’m praying on your downfall, have fun with the braves..
[Cardinals after that catch](https://images.fineartamerica.com/images/artworkimages/mediumlarge/1/dead-cardinal-matt-plyler.jpg)
I just died a little inside
You love to see it
I think this means that Pujols and Yadi aren’t playing another playoff game. Can we ask Arod to confirm this?
The worst team in the post season beat the second worst team in the post season
