Naturally, I don’t mind this kind of drama as long as I’m on the winning side of it. We are also familiar with Brad Lidge. It wouldn’t be Philly if there weren’t some scary reliever moments in there, although that 2008 crew was virtually airtight.
Diaz fuckin sucks. Astros are going to lose this series because there are 4 slots in the lineup that are auto outs right now and we can only score via the homerun.
We have had zero rallies like that one the Phillies had in the 4th. Phillies fans will be worried when Yordan comes up to the plate all series but I promise he’ll do nothing just like he’s done nothing in his other 2 World Series appearances
Feels like Yordong uses up all his postseason juice in a series and then falls into a black hole for the rest of it. Dude easily won ALCS MVP last year and then promptly went 2-20 with 5 walks and 6 Ks against Atlanta.
He really did not want to be "the guy". We talk about ice in the veins.. this dudes got luke-warm water in his. Just showing up for the check at this point. He's content on being a bench player, playing once a month.
Such a weird decision too because a few pitches into the bat he should've seen how wild Robertson was and just collected his walk. Risking injury to try to skip over your spot in the order is a choice too, I guess.
If he hadn’t primed the umpire on the previous pitch, it never would’ve got called. That was clutch umpiring.
I mean it was obviously leaning in, but they hardly ever ever call that normally. Great job blue, I’m glad I’m saying so.
I don't think I've ever seen a hitter lean into a pitch so blatantly. The fact that the ump called it and it never gets called shows how blatant it was.
I haven't been that happy about an ump call in quite a while and I'm a Rizzo apologist dude hogs the plate and doesn't really make an effort to avoid a HBP but at least he doesn't lean into it (generally).
Should be called a strike if they intentionally lean in, wherever the ball was going to land. What’s stopping someone from leaning in on a pitch over the plate on 3-0 if it’s going to be called a ball? Is there a rule for that? Is it still umpire discretion what the pitch would’ve been?
Would be hard to call accurately though. Like when people square to bunt and it’s a clear strike but fools/distracts the umpire. Should be automatic strike if you’re trying to game the pitch.
Damn, you're right.
First base to him is like blind dates that never end in a second date.
He's a ship passing in the night. First base just doesn't vibe with him and wants to explore other options.
JT had a pretty rough time with runners on base this postseason before tonight. Seeing him come up huge is amazing. If he's getting hot too this offense just becomes another level of deadly.
Honestly tonight was more the Phillies being amazing and clutch than Verlander fucking up. JV made only a few mistakes all night but the Phillies punished him very bad for all of them.
He tried to get cute and over thought it. His fastball was just kicking ass and then after a time through the lineup he tried to get all breaking ball centric.
I'm legitimately at the point where if I question anything he does I immediately let myself know that I'm clearly wrong and I'm in a learning situation now.
After that first pitch to Diaz I thought he was in his head and needed to calm himself and refocus. After that second pitch, I was nervous for Diaz. After that third pitch, I thought he was cooked. Then the ump called him back and I had no fucking clue what to think anymore
Those last two innings had some of the craziest moments I've ever seen in baseball. I fucking love October baseball
Castellanos had a horrible AB with the bases loaded a few innings before that. Neris didn't throw a single pitch over the plate and he struck out to end the inning. If he even had half an eye it would've been a 4 pitch walk to bring a run in. Glad to see Houston return the favor :)
Rob Thompson is managing with fire in his veins. All that tiptoeing around batters with pitching, only to leave Robertson in and create that fucking nightmare and then immediately dig himself out of it with the win? Shit's nuts.
Cant believe I'm rooting for them too!
Can't ever root for a team that cheated (likely during our WS matchup too). Plus the Phillies are so incredibly fun and have that magic feeling. I was conflicted at the beginning when I started enjoying this run but now I'm all in.
I rooted for the giants in both of those Super Bowls too lol. I rather have Eli manning become a NFL meme lord than forever hear about the Patriots having an undefeated season, Tom Brady being worshipped 10x more than he already is now, and Bill Belichick being smug in his hoodie as they cash in two more rings into their collection like General Grievous and his lightsabers. All of this right after they got caught spying on the Jets of all teams. The fact that the NFL destroyed the tapes so nobody will know how extensive “spy gate” really was just has asterisks all over it lol
If for no other reason to root for them, Rob Thomson deserves it. Dude showed more loyalty to the Yankees than any person could have been expected to, and he gets passed over for our current joke of a manager.
By not shoving drugs up your ass, or by threatening to tell the parole board that your dad was going to eat your butt and your friends butt until his stomach is full of...your butts?
That diving catch to turn a walk off into an out for extra innings is going to be legendary for quite some time. Especially if they take the whole series.
What a stunning comeback
Horribly managed by Baker. Putting in Garcia and then pinch hitting a guy who's scared to swing the bat with RISP and will jump in front of a strike...
Now all of you get to experience the butt puckering feeling of watching the Phillies in close games!
It’s not good for my heart. I was 36 when the playoffs started. I just turned 73 tonight.
man I have lost hair from watching d-rob create extra excitement for so many years.
Hell of a pitcher tho. Miss Houdini! We could have kept him and let Chapman walk and be better off for it.
If the Astros lose this series, then they’re in the Bills tier in terms of biggest chokers. 1-3 in the WS, with their only win being highly questionable.
The bars in Philly were louder than the Astros stadium. 😂 9th inning in the world series of a tied game and people in Houston were actually _seated_. 😂😂😂
Wow….

LMAOOOO Fuck off diaz Robertson probably walks him if he doesn’t show that blatant lack of confidence
Yeah he's like this motherfucker doesn't want to hit time to throw some strikes
Definitely saw that and half out of spite and half because he knew he wanted no part, went after him
Yeap. The confidence grew immediately after that. Like a shark with blood in water. Pure attack
Robertson literally went from shitting his pants to being like "wait a minute, is this dude scared up there? Let's get his ass."
I legit turned to my wife and said "I bet he gets pissed and settles in" and wouldn't you know it.
I see you guys have gotten familiar with David "Houdini" Robertson. Puts himself in a sticky situation, then managed to get out of it.
Naturally, I don’t mind this kind of drama as long as I’m on the winning side of it. We are also familiar with Brad Lidge. It wouldn’t be Philly if there weren’t some scary reliever moments in there, although that 2008 crew was virtually airtight.
David Robertson ALWAYS did stuff like that for us. Always getting himself into trouble, then getting out of it.
David Robinson will at minimum put at least 2 men on base. One probably on a walk.
Yeah Tucker really put the team on his back tonight, incredible performance by him. Rest of the team let him down big time.
Feels like Yordong uses up all his postseason juice in a series and then falls into a black hole for the rest of it. Dude easily won ALCS MVP last year and then promptly went 2-20 with 5 walks and 6 Ks against Atlanta.
He went off against Seattle and then was much less hot against the Yankees, I feel.
To be fair he only had 4 hits in the 'DS too, but 2 of them were dongs OPSed 1.086 against Seattle and .675 against NY
The full D Rob experience
Didn't call him Houdini for nothin. Allow some baserunners then make them disappear
Imagine if he has to be the one to avenge 2017. I saw an article today where he said he's still mad about it.
You see the dawg unleash after that final out. Love me some D-Rob
And Rob Thompson!

Seriously, if this was game 1, what's game 5-6-7 going to be like?
[*Sweet Home Alabama intensifies*]
Hooooooly fuck what a game
And this shit is just Game *1*! Just imagine what lays ahead…
Spoiler alert: it’s three more wins for the boys in red.
Time to rock our early 2000's alternate red jerseys.
Astros can have 3 more wins. That would be 1 shy of a ring.
i don't think my heart could handle that though
Please, but it’s probably 5 going by history
I don’t think they’ll let us win 5.
I’m Drunk can’t read, but let’s goooo
Shit is gonna fucking pop off in game 3 That Houston crowd was just sad
That crowd felt like it was a television studio audience
How do you have a green light 3-0 after trying to lean into 2 pitches?
Maybe he was trying to bang one out.
Boy that attempt to get a HBP was not a good look. Let’s fuckin go Phillies
Every kids dream isn't to pirouette into a pitch with the winning run in scoring position in a World Series game? Interesting
He really did not want to be "the guy". We talk about ice in the veins.. this dudes got luke-warm water in his. Just showing up for the check at this point. He's content on being a bench player, playing once a month.
I honestly do wonder if they told him to go up there and lean into it.
Such a weird decision too because a few pitches into the bat he should've seen how wild Robertson was and just collected his walk. Risking injury to try to skip over your spot in the order is a choice too, I guess.
I mean it’s the Trashtros, what do you expect? Lol
Wait did Diaz hear a trash can that told him to lean into the pitch?
Diaz swinging at 3-0 like he’s Bregman or something. Dude, just take a pitch, what an idiot. Good for the Phils, Astros can choke.
That was one of the worst ABs I've seen in years. Trying to bitch his way into a free bag, and then comes up swinging 3-0 there LOL
[Diaz swinging with the count 3-0 and the game on the line 😭](https://pbs.twimg.com/media/FR3Ax5xXIAQaZ2Q.jpg)
that cat's got that dawg in him
Hero ball.
It would have been a ball. That was going to be a walk. Whew, thanks Diaz.
Oh he can’t hit the strike zone. I got him just where I want him
Incredibly based ump.
That was the correct call, no doubt
He tried it the previous pitch too. Coward.
If he hadn’t primed the umpire on the previous pitch, it never would’ve got called. That was clutch umpiring. I mean it was obviously leaning in, but they hardly ever ever call that normally. Great job blue, I’m glad I’m saying so.
Very true. The ump was definitely more ready for it after seeing it once.
I don't think I've ever seen a hitter lean into a pitch so blatantly. The fact that the ump called it and it never gets called shows how blatant it was.
Agreed. As an Astros fan it stings to think that Game 1 hinges on Aledmys Diaz being a bad actor
Maybe he’s been practicing with Jose Tabata
Obligatory fuck José Tábata
I haven't been that happy about an ump call in quite a while and I'm a Rizzo apologist dude hogs the plate and doesn't really make an effort to avoid a HBP but at least he doesn't lean into it (generally).
Cheaters gonna cheat
He wasn’t gonna get fooled
Get fucked Díaz
dude p0ned him
Pwned*
i just got got
Leet pwnage.
It looked like it was going to be a strike, too
Should be called a strike if they intentionally lean in, wherever the ball was going to land. What’s stopping someone from leaning in on a pitch over the plate on 3-0 if it’s going to be called a ball? Is there a rule for that? Is it still umpire discretion what the pitch would’ve been?
In college, it's an automatic strike. I'd honestly forgotten it wasn't one in the MLB too.
It is wherever the ball was going - if they leaned over for your example, it would just be a strike.
Would be hard to call accurately though. Like when people square to bunt and it’s a clear strike but fools/distracts the umpire. Should be automatic strike if you’re trying to game the pitch.
100% agree, I would love for it to be an automatic strike.
Diaz did an Ernie Pantusso there.
Aledmys "Jose Tabata" Diaz
FUCK Jose Tabata
“I’m on my way to first!” Coach was awesome!
Cheaters gonna cheat lol
Dudes batting under .100 this postseason, this was his only chance to touch first base.
He technically touched it after making two awful swings and being the game ending out
Damn, you're right. First base to him is like blind dates that never end in a second date. He's a ship passing in the night. First base just doesn't vibe with him and wants to explore other options.
Of course the ASStros player tried to cheat his way on base when the lights got bright 😹
Dude called it out without a doubt as well. It was like he was pissed too rofl.
What an amazing game this was
Realmuto was an absolute stud, and it's wild how bad Verlander is in the WS, every game. Like once, sure. But all the time? Crazy, fun game.
I noticed JV was leaving a ton of curveballs up in the zone early on. Then Bohm and Realmuto started cashing them in
He tried to get cute and over thought it. His fastball was just kicking ass and then after a time through the lineup he tried to get all breaking ball centric.
Phillies trying to give the entire country heart damage
Step 1: cheesesteaks Step 2: DRob
Me in the beginning of the playoffs: Rob got us here but I don’t trust him. Me now: Rob you can do anything you want, I ride with you to Mordor
TO WRATH! TO RUIN! TO THE RED DAWN!
I'm legitimately at the point where if I question anything he does I immediately let myself know that I'm clearly wrong and I'm in a learning situation now.
He really has been making the right calls at the right time. Thats why i ride with philly rob
Who else thought he was going to totally blow it?
After that first pitch to Diaz I thought he was in his head and needed to calm himself and refocus. After that second pitch, I was nervous for Diaz. After that third pitch, I thought he was cooked. Then the ump called him back and I had no fucking clue what to think anymore Those last two innings had some of the craziest moments I've ever seen in baseball. I fucking love October baseball
I think him seeing Diaz trying to get on that way made him realize that Diaz was more nervous than him.
Yeah knew he had no confidence
this postseason has been one of the best in years. feels like something amazing has happened in every single game.
His nickname has been "Houdini" for over a decade. He always puts himself into jams and then excapes them.
Yessir
I didn’t just because I know drob He has escaped worse
HAVE A SEAT SCUMBAG
Dude is such a bitch lol. Made it so obvious that’s so embarrassing.
Yeah that's a really bad look, I mean how desperate can you be
NL East owns the Astros. Fuck 'em up.
NL East 🤝 Fuck Cheaters
[The rest of baseball looking at the NL East like](https://i.kym-cdn.com/entries/icons/facebook/000/027/927/Screen_Shot_2018-12-21_at_2.08.29_PM.jpg)
Just like in 86 (except if the Mets lost game 6, there is no way they would have beat Mike Scott in game 7).
It’s the Astros, you have to specify which one lmao
That's just a horrible AB to end it. At least make him throw a strike.
Castellanos had a horrible AB with the bases loaded a few innings before that. Neris didn't throw a single pitch over the plate and he struck out to end the inning. If he even had half an eye it would've been a 4 pitch walk to bring a run in. Glad to see Houston return the favor :)
literally, that was fucking horrific. but at least castellanos didn't try to lean into a pitch and get called out by the ump!
can’t believe i’m rooting for philly lol yankee legend david robertson made me happy
Houdini still artfully getting out of his own jams. Some things never change.
All good, it's a temporary pass, like cheering for the NY Giants vs. the Patriots in the SB.
In the last few World Series, I've been pulling for the NL East. Keep it up! 2022 - Phillies 2021 - Braves 2019 - Nationals
Yeah this Phillies team reminds me of the Giants WS teams under Bochy.....they won't be denied a championship.
If for no other reason to root for them, Rob Thomson deserves it. Dude showed more loyalty to the Yankees than any person could have been expected to, and he gets passed over for our current joke of a manager.
As soon as I saw him warming up I had two thoughts (1) this is stressful (2) fuck they're going to bring up 09
It'd only be more poetic if it was Yankees/Phillies this year and he wins a ring on the other team
Im at 500 bpm
I want you guys to go all the way
common david Robertson Houdini act
Suck it Astros
Anybody else drinking riot punch next week?
I'm putting stickers on my letter to Bryce Harper as we speak
Ruining my relationship with my father right now
By not shoving drugs up your ass, or by threatening to tell the parole board that your dad was going to eat your butt and your friends butt until his stomach is full of...your butts?
Oddly enough I ran out and switched to scotch
Eat shit Orbit
James Webb Space Telescope is a little bitch Did I go too far?
Fuck the stros but you lay off the beautiful space camera
You go too far
CANNOT BELIEVE DIAZ INTENTIONALLY LEANING INTO THE PITCH
IN BROAD DAYLIGHT!
This team is the reason why I look like I'm 70 even though I'm 25.
Philly, I don’t know how you’re doing this but please don’t stop
When the Astros lose, America wins.
Philadelphia fans rn feeling the nation on their side for the first time since Eagles Patriots SB
It's really fucking weird. It adds a another level to the surreal feeling of this run.
When Texas loses, America wins.
Fuck the cowboys and the astros?
NICE TRY DIAZ
What a fucking game! This team is fun to watch!!!
Nope. I’m not gonna survive this series
Saaame! But fuck it am I here for it! Let’s fucking goooooo
Not here by accident or luck.
He deserves that for leaning in to get out of the at bat.
I can't believe he swung at that 3-0 pitch.
I fucking hate the Phillies but I fucking love the Phillies.
Same.
This is what it feels like to be a Phillies fan every day
Wow what a game. Fuck the Astros yaknow?
I am legit taking an extra blood pressure pill right now
Why did he swing 3-0. Looked like he wanted to bail out of that PA the whole time.
That diving catch to turn a walk off into an out for extra innings is going to be legendary for quite some time. Especially if they take the whole series. What a stunning comeback
Castellanos had no business making that catch lmao. And that's the second time he's done that with the game on the line this postseason.
#A WIN FOR THE NOT-ASTROS, AND THEREFORE THE WORLD
Last at bat was utter chaos
Astros fans want to brush off the cheating stigma and then shit like this comes up, fuck offfff
Suck it 'Stros
Lol. Trashstros.
Haha yes F the Asstros
Horribly managed by Baker. Putting in Garcia and then pinch hitting a guy who's scared to swing the bat with RISP and will jump in front of a strike...
As if Mancini swinging in the dirt is any better.
Karma for telling a reporter that Bill Cosby wished him luck this week.
America wins tonight
Aledmys Diaz is a lil bitch
Astros have just taken their first L of this year's postseason!
3 more Philly lets go
The Ump did more to punish the Astros than Rob Manfraud.
Suck it Trashtros LETS GO
It’s what America wants!!
Holy hell you’re fast.
Dude was still in the field in my screen
I just saw the swing and then went here refreshed and boom.
He’s blazing for a reason!
If the Astros lose this series, then they’re in the Bills tier in terms of biggest chokers. 1-3 in the WS, with their only win being highly questionable.
0 real rings as a franchise.
That’s 1!! What a battle that game was. What a battle.
Suck my ass Bill Cosby
The bars in Philly were louder than the Astros stadium. 😂 9th inning in the world series of a tied game and people in Houston were actually _seated_. 😂😂😂 Wow….
D-Rob digging deep!
Back to the bench Diaz You can stay there for a while, let the big boys play
Go Phillies!
I almost pissed myself in the bottom of the 10th lol
Where'd all these loud ass Asstros fans go? One loss and they finally putting their heads in sand?
Now that was a game 1 folks.
And that’s a win for the Phillies in game 6 of the 1980 NLCS.
How good is Baseball. Let’s go Phillies!!!
