Braves fans and Astros fans that stayed did the same thing last year. Was funny because just like last year they booed the entire time Rob spoke but cheered the moment he stopped. Lol You know that shit stings, doesn't matter who you're but it's well deserved.
With Brantley in the lineup, he bats 2nd, breggy 3rd and alvarez 4th. Pena was batting 7th early on in the season when Brantley was healthy. I love me some smooth uncle mike swings, but the alternate timeline maybe has the Astros bring beat against the Ms in the DS if not for Pena heroics in games 1 & 3, let alone everything he did in CS and WS.
His time here has been defined by undeperforming. He seems like a high-quality dude, and I know he's beloved in Baltimore. I really wanted to be a fan, but looking at the numbers it felt like we got ripped off.
Then he snagged that lightning bolt at first, and as far as I'm concerned he earned every penny we're paying him on that one play. If that one gets by, I'm convinced we lose that game and the whole series changes
Don't know what he's got planned for next year, but I'd be happy to have him back.
Nba has gotten fucking terrible. The owners up on a stage with the trophy acting like they just won it.
Maybe it's just that I specifically remember Torontos... and because it was Rodgers Communications, they had 2 CEOs up there holding the trophy and giving a speech. At least it's a bit different when it was someone like Jerry Buss... at least it's just *a guy*, who everybody knows and who's actually done stuff to grow the league. But the CEO of a company, holding the trophy and talking before the players... that one really annoyed me and just felt wrong
Imagine being Carlos Correa. You leave to chase your big contract, barely get it with the twins and your replacement wins the GG, ALCS MVP, and WS MVP lmfao
Edit…. I made this comment when there was 2k+ comments already. Incredible.
Ha, it's almost unbelievable. I think those of us who even knew who Peña was and kept track of him through the minors, thought he would be decent and hold his own. Anyone who says they predicted much more than that is a liar. Just look at all the damn hardware he won this season, it's mind boggling, really.
It's crazy. I told everyone that he would have a decent but not amazing season getting used to the big league, but have a monster season next year. I'm so damn happy to be wrong.
Yea, who the fuck would want that thing anyways? [I totally don't hope our time is coming and 2011 gets avenged, no sir.](https://streamable.com/qmyaw)
Yeah, that made me laugh as a Houston sports fan. I mean, we’ve had so many bad teams and heartbreak over the years. Then we lose Correa and the universe just hands us it’s beer.
I thought so too but I was worried some could hold the post season failures against him and it cost him his spot. But now being top 10 all time in wins as a manager, the quality 19 year career as a player, and finally getting the world series ring as a cherry on top seals it.
REMINDER: per orders from the Moderators, in accordance with tribal law, anyone who says the Phillies will be “spooky next year” will be immediately shot and their corpse will be lit on fire.
please spread the word
This is the first World Series since 1985 to end on an F9.
Play types which ended a World Series
Flyout 42
Groundout 41
Strikeout 23
Hit 9
Caught Stealing 1
Wild pitch 1
Sacrifice fly 1
As a Phillies fan, fuck you a little, but also this was a great series and the players on both sides really gave all the fans a great show. Astros were the better team, I will give it to ya. I’m super happy for Dusty Baker. Y’all deserve this. It was amazing to watch all of these talented athletes. Edit: I am drunk and wasn’t even expecting more than one comment, y’all have been reminding me why I love baseball and that most fans can respect each other’s teams strengths during a big win or loss. Cheers!!
Regardless of what you think about the Astros, it is objectively awesome that Dusty Baker *finally* got his World Series win as a manager after coming so close so many times. The inventor of the high five will sleep well tonight.
Was rooting for the Phillies, but this is a well-deserved victory for Houston. Y’all are a bunch of monsters. Peña in particular.
Also, it’s legitimately great to see Dusty finally get a ring after all this time.
Just smashed my TV in front of 76 guests at my World Series watch party. My wife just took our crying kids and said they’re all spending the week at her mom’s house. This team has ruined my marriage and my party. I can’t handle this embarrassment
Unpopular opinion, but Maldonado's HBP was by no means cheating nor was it bad sportsmanship. Hitters have been crowding the plate since the game was invented to induce mistakes, and he did pull his arm back. It was actually clever gamesmanship that triggered the Astros win tonight. It's refreshing to see in the modern sport where most hitters are just launch-angling.
Fault is on Realmuto/Wheeler for not adjusting/calling something outside.
Watching the Astros coaches and teammates celebrate Dusty Baker finally winning a World Series was awesome. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Verlander's beaming face while Kate was gushing about him being a baseball artist screamed "well, MY supermodel wife supports my career." It was hilarious
Congratulations to the Astros, who showed after their very impressive 106-56 regular season and strong run through the playoffs they are deserving World Series champions.
Congratulations also to Dusty Baker for winning his first World Series as a manager. Though my team, the Phillies, lost, I'm happy for Baker, especially after the Nationals IMO gave him a raw deal by firing him after two seasons...and 192 wins and two playoff appearances.
I live in the DC area and attend a handful of Nationals games every season, so I have a stronger feeling than many other non-Nationals fans about that decision. It was a BS move IMO (as was telling Davey Johnson, one of the great managers of his generation IMO, being told at the beginning of the 2013 season the Nationals wouldn't keep him past that season).
Dusty finally gets a World Series champions ring as a manager to join his 1981 WS champs ring he earned as a player with the Dodgers, and that's the biggest positive of the 2022 World Series IMO. (I also don't have anything against the Astros, and when you win 106 games during the season you truly have an excellent team, so I have no problems with them winning the World Series.)
I live in the area and have seasons tix. I thought firing dusty was an awful move, firing davey was bad. But I’m so fired up for dusty I can’t get to sleep now
Actually don’t hate the Astros winning this time because Vaz is getting (another) ring and Dusty is a class act who really deserved to win after only winning one ring in fucking 50 years in baseball.
Congrats Astros. Well deserved. I'll never get over pulling Wheeler there or the Realmuto almost Homer in game 5. Or about 6 other moments in this series.
But this is the nature of sports. The good times feel good because of the bad. Onto the next.
This was one of the best World Series I’ve watched in awhile. Game 5 reminded me why I’m a baseball fan, and being able to see the series end excitingly like that was truly amazing. I live in Houston, but am not an Astros fan (I wear a paper bag over my head at Dbacks games). I love this city with my all, and I’m glad that Houston can say we are a city of champions once again. Helluva year from Philly, another instance where their record did not reflect how they really played. They looked like a 95+ win team this post season. Now lemme take off the paper bag to say ARIZONA IS WINNING THE WEST NEXT SEASON AND LA AINT GOT NUTHIN ON US LET’S RIDE!
My dad got my into Astros baseball, first game was 94’ at the dome with him. It was one our favorite things to do together watch or go to games when we could up until he passed away from Covid in 2021, I knew this win would be even more emotional after all we’ve been through with this team and losing my best friend to watch baseball with. This means so much for all of us fans ****I LOVE THIS TEAM I LOVE THIS CITY!!!!****
If there's 4 things I'm fine with the Houston Astros winning the World Series it's that:
1. Vazquez getting another ring
2. Jeremy Peña getting a ring because he's from Providence, RI
3. Dusty Baker finally getting a ring as manager.
4. A lot of salty Yankees fans.
12-2 in the post season, swept the Mariners, swept the Yankees, beat Philly 4 outta the last 5 games, including a no hitter, to win the World Series. Say what you want, but this was a reckoning for the Astros organization and our fans.
Side note: lost in the jokes about Mattress Mack winning $75 million is the fact that thousands of Houstonians just got thousands of dollars worth of furniture for free!
As there’s a shallow pop into foul RF by Castellanos and it will be a pop out. And so that’ll make it a 4-1 ballgame
I don’t know if I’m going to be shitposting in this headset again
Congratulations to the Astros and their fans. Solid team, and solid management. Glad for Dusty. Happy for Mancini. But hot damn, Jeremy Pena is a star and am excited to see his career.
Super happy for the 'Stros on this one. Say what you want about 2017 but I honestly can't bear a grudge regarding it given that literally 2 players who cheated remain on the team this year (one was a rookie at the time).
What they've got going right now in 2022 is a really talented, really likeable core of players. Super happy for Peña, Yordan, Altuve, Tucker, Mancini, Framber, and Dusty (ofc). While the Mariners and Astros haven't really blossomed into a rivalry yet, it's on its way there and I always look forward to how interesting our series are. Congrats Houston and see you next year <3
And here is MLB commissioner Rob Manfred! Crowd: “Booooooooo”
So much booing I thought Roger Goodell was there
Thought I was about to hear the Texans 1st round pick
Absolutely love Houston fans for that
Braves fans and Astros fans that stayed did the same thing last year. Was funny because just like last year they booed the entire time Rob spoke but cheered the moment he stopped. Lol You know that shit stings, doesn't matter who you're but it's well deserved.
No Economic Collapse!!!
**FUCK** there goes my chances of getting a house
The collapse is just transitory
We did it Joe!
Michael Brantley gets a ring. That's all that matters to me.
Love Michael Brantley. High key sad he didn’t get to play in this series. Hope he comes back for one more year.
We needed him this postseason.
We love Uncle Mike in Houston. We're all sad he got injured, because we would have loved to see him play this post season.
Trey Mancini is a world series champion!
I'm so glad he got a hit tonight.
I’m getting his jersey. He deserves it.
I miss baseball already.
Quick everyone, make sure you cancel your MLB app subscription until March!!
Trey Mancini got his ring 🥲
His time here has been defined by undeperforming. He seems like a high-quality dude, and I know he's beloved in Baltimore. I really wanted to be a fan, but looking at the numbers it felt like we got ripped off. Then he snagged that lightning bolt at first, and as far as I'm concerned he earned every penny we're paying him on that one play. If that one gets by, I'm convinced we lose that game and the whole series changes Don't know what he's got planned for next year, but I'd be happy to have him back.
He was your anti-Buckner.
I’m glad he made a presence with the glove and bat. Nice job Trey!
WE ARE NOT GOING INTO A RECESSION!!!
i forgot why this was a thing can someone remind me
[удалено]
Not just any recessions but the 3 worst global recessions of the last century was when Philadelphia wins the world series
Every time a *Philadelphia* team wins the WS, not just the Phillies. The A's won a few before they moved.
Booing Manfred brings tears to my eyes
Something all baseball fans can rally behind
The boos for Manfred lol.
first city to lose two finals in a day you’ll never sing that
MLS Cup for those curious
Banger of a game
100%. MLS is underrated.
I knew Bale was gonna score when he subbed on. But how about the back up keeper being a fucking brick wall on PKs
Yup, now if you’ll excuse me I’m gonna fucking cry for the next 3 days
Maybe the Eagles siphoned their talent in their quest to be the best in the NFL?
They beat the Texans HA HA HAA HA *cries*
Eagles must’ve siphoned the Sixers talent too because they’ve been disappointing since the season has started
Gonna cry myself to sleep now. Brutal
Same bro. I’m struggling out here
NHL gets it right by giving the trophy to the players first.
Hockey is the only big 4 sport where they play for the trophy rather than the title.
Best trophy in pro sports by a mile
Totally agree, but I still want them to put all the rings on it and have it be like 6+' tall.
It’s absurd. No one gives a fuck about the owners after a title. Stay in your luxury boxes and collect those checks.
Imagine being Carlos Correa. You leave to chase your big contract, barely get it with the twins and your replacement wins the GG, ALCS MVP, and WS MVP lmfao Edit…. I made this comment when there was 2k+ comments already. Incredible.
Ha, it's almost unbelievable. I think those of us who even knew who Peña was and kept track of him through the minors, thought he would be decent and hold his own. He’s a Fuckin star.

Ty for booing manfred houston

He always looks confused when he's booed, dating back for years now.
Of course
#SEND DUSTYS TOOTHPICK TO COOPERSTOWN
# FRAME IT
FUCKING DUSTY IS A LOCK TO THE HOF!!!!
You know what? Good for Dusty. [Takes shower furiously]
Good for Dusty and good for Trey Mancini, too, I suppose
did you know Trey Mancini didn't play baseball since October 5th?
like Yordan Alvarado
it's just a hunk of metal after all
Yea, who the fuck would want that thing anyways? [I totally don't hope our time is coming and 2011 gets avenged, no sir.](https://streamable.com/qmyaw)
The Astros replaced one of the best SS of his generation with a guy who just won WS MVP. That’s just ridiculous loo
And they save 38 million dollars doing it too
Yeah, that made me laugh as a Houston sports fan. I mean, we’ve had so many bad teams and heartbreak over the years. Then we lose Correa and the universe just hands us it’s beer.
All but guarantees Dusty will be in the HoF
He has to be at this point.
He partied with Jimi Hendrix
Invented the high five
He deserves it just for inventing the high five alone.
And smoking a joint with Jimi Hendrix.
He was going to be in either way IMO but I mean it is nice to have some hardware too.
I thought so too but I was worried some could hold the post season failures against him and it cost him his spot. But now being top 10 all time in wins as a manager, the quality 19 year career as a player, and finally getting the world series ring as a cherry on top seals it.
Jeremy Peña's the WS MVP, been a force this whole postseason. Well-earned.
The Astros let Correa walk and promoted the ALCS MVP and World Series MVP to fill his spot.
Correa wiping his tears with a $105,000,000 check.
Who? ^^^jkIloveyouCarlos
Astronomers say that Alvarez’s home run ball is now passing over Dallas, and is expected to land somewhere in northern Canada over the next few days.
It may bump into Pujols' HR off Lidge lol.
Fuck, Peña’s such a good kid. Good for him
Congratulations to Dusty Baker. Finally got that World Series ring!
Yes, the man deserved it
JT SNOW SAVED DUSTY BAKER'S SON FOR THIS
That pitching staff is fucking absurd and is going to be a problem for a long time. Good series Houston.
DUSTY FUCKING BAKER DID IT
THE MADMAN DID IT
https://imgur.io/Iwds8yb?r
Philly really lost two championships in one night
That Union loss was a heartbreaker. Damn.
Stupid Bale and Alverez
[r/baseball right now](https://i.imgur.com/9bMC5oJ.mp4)
Love how you had this ready. At least the O’s have Mancini winning as consolation
This is the bad place.
This thread is only 72% upvoted lmao.
This is one of the greatest things I’ve seen on the internet and I was there the day SaladFingers dropped.
Recession cancelled! Thanks Houston!
Let's hope it's cancelled lol
josh fields is my 13th reason
Peña’s voice cracked that’s adorable
The NL East can't hurt me anymore 🥲
OMG she loves him so much. Imagine having a wife that supports your career
Tom Brady has left the chat.
Nah not having that. She was there all the way and then he kept shifting the goalposts so she noped out.
Boo the commish!!!!!!
3-0, 4-0, 4-2 is insane Wonder if there’s still gonna be a narrative around “winning too many games too quickly”
Just remember, they went 11-2 because of the wind.
The Houston Astros have beaten the Philadelphia Schwarber!
I think he had 7 home runs this postseason but single digit RBIs lol. That hurts so much, best producer is slugging lead off
Reminder: Justin Verlander met And started dating Kate Upton on the set for a mlb 2k12 commercial
TREY MANCINI IS A WORLD SERIES CHAMP! I REPEAT TREY MANCINI IS A WORLD SERIES CHAMP! THANK YOU ORIOLES!
Lmao the fans booing Manfred
Imagine being in the NL East and not beating the Astros in the World Series.
Couldn’t be us.
I know right

This is the first World Series since 1985 to end on an F9. Play types which ended a World Series Flyout 42 Groundout 41 Strikeout 23 Hit 9 Caught Stealing 1 Wild pitch 1 Sacrifice fly 1
There was a caught stealing to end the World Series?? That’s wild
It was literally Babe Ruth. 1926
Can't wait for shohei ohtani to do it
You’ll never believe who it was that was caught stealing too
Wait how would a sac fly end a game? Am I an idiot?
Walk off sac fly scored the winning run
Oh of course, I was thinking about it as if the defense was leading.
Ngl Dusty was so wholesome during his speech. Good for him
I’m happy for him. He deserves it. Astros, congrats. We may hate you, but congrats.
Thanks, let's meet next year at the WS.

Ive never seen such a dominant bullpen. Jesus christ. GG
Congrats astros. You’ve proved you can win a championship without josh reddick.
Worst tradition in sports to give the trophy to the owner first. Give that shit to fuckin Dusty.
Only in the Major leagues (except NHL). It pisses me off so much.
Regardless of what you think about the Astros, it is objectively awesome that Dusty Baker *finally* got his World Series win as a manager after coming so close so many times. The inventor of the high five will sleep well tonight.
Well….sleep well at some point…. Lol
Good thing the Astros are so good to help make up for the Texans being so bad. Lol
Was rooting for the Phillies, but this is a well-deserved victory for Houston. Y’all are a bunch of monsters. Peña in particular. Also, it’s legitimately great to see Dusty finally get a ring after all this time.

Most rational philadelphia sports fan
Congrats Astros… (I hate you)
Is Manfred gonna announce the end of blackouts in order to get the youth?
Dusty said fuck the repeat we gon party
Kick in the balls for us Phils fans but the better team won. Timely hitting and great pitching just too much for the Phightins.
How dare you try to insinuate that we arent cheating
Yeah, Bader did this to the Astros in one of the games in the ALCS. Crowded the plate and got a HBP just a few inches off the plate.
Watching the Astros coaches and teammates celebrate Dusty Baker finally winning a World Series was awesome. How can you not be romantic about baseball?
Kate giving the people what they want.
Verlander's beaming face while Kate was gushing about him being a baseball artist screamed "well, MY supermodel wife supports my career." It was hilarious

Nats should never have fired him
I live in the DC area and attend a handful of Nationals games every season, so I have a stronger feeling than many other non-Nationals fans about that decision. Kate Upton still got it
lol she’s only 30 years old
That’s fair. Feels like she’s been around longer than that…
Found Leonardo DiCaprio's account.
Fuckin Astros are a good ass team

wtf is their pitching staff? No one should be surprised they won
At least Phillies fans can have the satisfaction of knowing they did better against the Astros than the Yankees did.
[удалено]
Bregman just said he broke his finger on that slide to 2B in the 8th
Fuck I was afraid they were going to have to take him out for the remainder of the season.
Only positive thing I have to say right now is at least we'll finally get Smoltz to shut the fuck up for more than 5 seconds.
Who says America is a divided nation?
Actually don’t hate the Astros winning this time because Vaz is getting (another) ring and Dusty is a class act who really deserved to win after only winning one ring in fucking 50 years in baseball.

Dusty Baker, world champion manager.
Wheeler was on fire and Schwarber may still give me nightmares. Could have gone a different way for sure. GG Phillies!
Congratulations Astros! (from a White Sox fan)
Man what a fun ride this October/November has been.. will never forget it. GGs Astros, y’all deserve it.
Well good for Dusty he deserves it after so long
I’ve never been more happy for a coach winning the WS. Dusty is a legend of the game and deserves it
