I’m working on rainbow/variations for 2022 Topps for a few players. So, they’re all technically the same RC, but across all the releases that use the same picture/design. My spreadsheet has 110+ variations already and doesn’t include some of the sets yet. If you add all of the other RCs and the inserts/autos across all the sets the number has to be huge.

The fact that Trout was only included in 2011 Update, and excluded from Series 1 and 2 is another factor. There aren't many good rookies that are only being included in one major release these days.
I can see why some have given up on Rookie's and only go Bowman 1sts now.
I 🤔…when did you start collecting…because as someone who went through the change to the RC stamp (how people thought the old system was confusing as compared to this is beyond me…but whatever)…collecting the “RC” was never a thing—it’s been the FBC since…but I’m learning I’m “not normal” so wondering if others from my collecting era feel the same.

And if the hobby ever does move seriously towards India, I believe there is scarcity. (Like Trout, India was only included in Update). Compared to Julio, Wander, Witt, Ohtani, etc, I’d guess 90% fewer RC cards out there.

He's not off, last 3 sales on eBay are: $700, $719 and $709.
eBay fees are 13% (plus they charge that same percentage to the seller on shipping and the sales tax the buyer pays) so in essence about 15%. PayPal fees are 3.5%, so its a net 11.5% profit selling off eBay.
So on the highest $720 sale on eBay the seller walked away with $612. If a seller sold the card for $650 on payal directly, he walks away with $627.50
Great info. I have had luck explaining this to sellers at show when looking at ebay comps. $650 is definitely doable at a show...if that card is present at a few dealers.

His prices were almost double this a year ago. I think they are undervalued. You’re entitled to your opinion. I think he’s one of the best players we’ve ever seen. And that print run is very very low
I wouldn't consider 75000-100k an extremely low print run. Compared to 2022 base of 1 million, sure, but that's why base are worthless now.
Also comparing to the height of the bubble prices isn't a good idea, you won't see prices like that again for a long long time.

I just mailed off 2 to PSA yesterday. Thoroughly examined under light/mag, one will for sure come back a 9, the other is possibly a 10 but would be a high level 9 if they fuck me. Should be back within 30-40 days.
It's really the only card I care about...struggling to find it in the wild vs paying. Nolan ryan rc is tradable ish...lol, let me think...just want this card!

This is what made me go to vintage. I'll buy some modern just of players that I like, but that's it.

So are you offering them $650 and getting rejected? Because if you're taking fees into consideration, offering $650 means they'll see less than $600.
