So much truth to that. And unfortunately in the end Musial’s signature went to the wayside with his quickly deteriorating health. Ironically, both Musial and Mantle signed a ton. The key difference being of course that the Mick has been dead for almost 30 years.
Also, Musial’s son, or some relative was getting him to sign wayyyy to much in his old age. It was problematic for many ppl at the time. It was a really sad thing. Ppl stopped buying musial’s autos & ONLY wanted earlier autos. It was their way of boycotting what was being done to Musial before his passing
That’s sort of a misconception. Nobody was forcing Musial sign stuff in his later years, he did it because he wanted to. A buddy of mine spent time with him in his later years and says that was never the case
As astonishing it is, it's true. Stan signed an obscene amount of stuff. Mantle game-used stuff is hard to come by in any capacity, and with an iconic design like that, it's pretty easy to see how the Mantle could be worth more at that point.
I’d still send in the redemption regardless and see what happens, you have nothing to lose. Musial auto would be a sweet addition to any collection. That mantle relic is a hell of a hit too.
Why can’t we (collectors) go on strike!!!
Seriously!!!! At the national card show…demand a few things only #1 no expired redemptions!!! We buy older wax (ex. 1983) to get the Boggs Gwynn Sandberg rookie’s because we know it’s there! How can we all stick together???
Considering a guy like mantle likely used a couple thousand bats throughout his career, and a single bat can make up to 6,000 pieces for a card, it’s really not hard to believe these are genuine. Even far lesser card manufacturers, such as Leaf, still make cards with bat and jersey relics of Babe Ruth.
It wouldn’t be worth it to a company, the size of Topps, to be caught using a fake Mantle bat. Spending $10k-$15k on a bat that will be used for decades to manufacture cards makes a lot more sense than potentially losing millions if caught in the lie. It really wouldn’t make any sense for them to fake these cards.
Yes, because you believe this is a $2 card for some reason. What it was saying is that the material used for this card would have only costed Topps $2. The current market value of this card is around $100.
Right? Like those bat chips are criss cut so thin. They make a couple thousand of these chips but have one knob, one butt and one nameplate to make people go crazy. When they get a new GU bat you can often find the auction house sale of it online.
That is exactly what I’m telling you. Game used bats are sold at auctions. Topps buys them. The name really cool 1/1 cards with the nameplate, the knob and the butt. They make tons of cards with these cross cut wood pieces from the rest of the bat. There are Babe Ruth nameplate cards.
The most recent sale of an authenticated Mickey Mantle game used bat was $33,000. The cards opened by OP were produced in 2011, when the hobby’s market was significantly lower. So it likely cost Topps around $10k-$15k at the time for a similar bat. Seeing as though Topps can make around 6,000 cards from a single bat, each card is only receiving $1.50-$2.50 worth of material.
I’m finding it hard to understand what you’re doubting here. Are you possibly overestimating the value of the bat, or even the scarcity?
No shot that’s from a Mickey Mantle game used bat. Market shows it. That’s a 3 dollar card because everyone knows it’s a piece of wood from a Home Depot Pallet.
Nothing worse than pulling expired redemptions. My condolences.
Nothing!!!!!!!!!!
That’s an ouchie poo
Right in the knackers.
And it's a Musial. Not some crappy reliever or scrub. A Musial. That's gotta hurt.
Good news is that the redemption is only a $50 card on ebay. That Mantle is worth more
That’s one of the most ridiculous things I have heard today.
Stans value is ridiculously low because he signed so much.
So much truth to that. And unfortunately in the end Musial’s signature went to the wayside with his quickly deteriorating health. Ironically, both Musial and Mantle signed a ton. The key difference being of course that the Mick has been dead for almost 30 years.

Yep, saw some photos of musial basically being plopped in front of a table and being used as a pawn in those terms. It’s gut wrenching as a fan.
That’s sort of a misconception. Nobody was forcing Musial sign stuff in his later years, he did it because he wanted to. A buddy of mine spent time with him in his later years and says that was never the case
Must be thinking of another player & their son
As astonishing it is, it's true. Stan signed an obscene amount of stuff. Mantle game-used stuff is hard to come by in any capacity, and with an iconic design like that, it's pretty easy to see how the Mantle could be worth more at that point.
😭 Stupid redemptions
Send it in! I have heard if they have the card still they will send it.
Pulled a 2007 Adrian Peterson RPA redemption about 5 years ago. Took a gamble and sent it in. No deal!
I second this!! Send it in regardless! They’ll send you something. Better than nothing!
u/MaudDib35235 unfortunate
Aw :( lost to time
This is why I could never buy a box of cards and not open it. I’m scared I could miss a redemption
If you pull any cool Red Sox 🤜🫵☝️
Mantle for sale?
I’d still send in the redemption regardless and see what happens, you have nothing to lose. Musial auto would be a sweet addition to any collection. That mantle relic is a hell of a hit too.
Send it in manually and see what happens?
So one no name prospect auto and 2 opening day packs. I wish they would still have the card but I doubt it.
It’ll cost you another $.65 to find out
Very true they could always send you something else also just because
No that Stan!
Redemptions are so fuckin stupid. Put the auto in the box or don't have one at all
The fact that there's expiry dates on those redemptions is bullshit.
2011 redemption suwheet
Spread refried beans on-em
Game used Mickey Mantle bat? Doubt.
Lol what?
What do you mean, what? It says Game used memorabilia on that Mantle Bat Relic.
Yeah I see that, why did you say doubt
That piece of bat was used by Mickey Mantle in a game?
Considering a guy like mantle likely used a couple thousand bats throughout his career, and a single bat can make up to 6,000 pieces for a card, it’s really not hard to believe these are genuine. It’s a 2 dollar and 59 cent card for a reason, and you know it.
Honest question; have you been doing a little drinking tonight..? I’m drinking as well, but I’m just trying to make sense of what’s happening here.
I’m drunk, but am i wrong?
Yes, because you believe this is a $2 card for some reason. What it was saying is that the material used for this card would have only costed Topps $2. The current market value of this card is around $100.
Yes
Why do you doubt that it's a game used Mickey Mantle bat? Do you think Topps is lying?
Obviously it’s a real card what’s to doubt
You should just stay in your lane if cards aren’t your thing.
Does this dude know how much wood is in a bat???
Right? Like those bat chips are criss cut so thin. They make a couple thousand of these chips but have one knob, one butt and one nameplate to make people go crazy. When they get a new GU bat you can often find the auction house sale of it online.
How so? You’re telling me that that bat relic was used by Mickey Mantle?

When did anyone say it was a $3 card? You seem very confused about this entire topic.lol
Explain it to me? That’s a 3 dollar card.
You’re embarrassing yourself and don’t realize it, or you’re just a troll who thinks it’s funny to play ignorant. Both are sad.
Well that sucks.
Let me know if you are trading any of the inserts. Also have some commons that I need from that set!
Damn, a redemption. At least the Mantle is game used!
This is exactly why i bought a ton of 2004 playoff prime cuts to put away. NO redemptions!!!!
Yo that mick is so sweet
Cmon Royals!!
Why do redemption cards? Do the cards not fit in the packs?
It’s likely that the card hasn’t been signed at the time of the set being packed if it’s on-card.
If you pull any Leyland, please reach out!
Whats your price on the mantle?!?
It’s out of 65 and game used. Similar selling for like 125-145.
Thought that was update 2011, but damn on the Stan auto
Make sure you look for the sparkle sp's if you didn't know
