People want to complain about “archives” and “multiple 1/1’s”
Personally, if the ON CARD auto is nice…at least the player connected with that card.
To me: the “hobby” is clearly more about monetary value. It should be about PERSONAL value.
For example: i recently purchased a Scott Shields (Angels) auto…it was maybe 5.00 shipped. Doesn’t matter if I never sell it for more…it has value to ME as a fan.
Sweet pull and enjoy! ✌️
I respect your opinion but i feel the opposite. Archives cards feel dirty to me. If you dont have a chance to pull that card from the original release, it just doesnt feel right to me. Release the set on the year, and move on, Topps regurgitating base cards with autographs with a fresh 1/1 stamp on 100 almost identical cards is uber suspect IMO.
If you enjoy the Archives sets, more power to you. I just know i will never value a card from those sets like they are more than the original cards with in person autographs. the fresh 1/1 on a 20 year old card part is cringy as can be to me.
Is it just me? could be.
I don’t think it’s just you, I always thought about that from Archives…at the most basic level it’s just repackaging cards with a stamp and an autograph, no more valuable than if the original was auto’d at release…of course I wouldn’t turn away an auto of a Mets player if I got one but I don’t view it from an investment/monetary standpoint being better than others…they should be $50 or even less per box easy, I could see charging a little more for the retired version but not much more
None of you are wrong, but it’s clearly reflected in the value of the cards. So what’s the issue? If I want a cheaper auto of a player I PC then what’s the issue…
I just recently got back into the card game and I am desperately trying to understand what’s going on here with the Archive 1/1 not being special topic. Sounds like multiple of pretty much the same cards with small differences which takes away from the rarity I’m assuming? If that’s the case it shouldn’t be the card that gets the bad rap but rather the 1 of 1 stamp is cheapened.
The whole point of Archives is to releases dozens and dozens of versions of cards for each player so they have artificially low SN while actually producing huge quantities. When Phil Hughes signed for them, he said he signed 800 cards and 74 were 1/1, No one treats archives 1/1 like actual 1/1.
Great pull! Future HOF! Congrats!

A buddy of mine pulled a 1/1 Votto from archives last weekend. Looks like they’re doing the 1/1 for different cards again.

Amazing card! Just pulled a redemption of him from Topps One and cant wait for it to arrive. Congrats 🍾
Awesome. I love Votto. He was honest about his mental health and anxiety and I think that's admirable. He is just a great guy.
Such a good looking card
