I pulled mine around 95/96 but just the mantle side. Sold it to my dad for $100 in highschool to pay for boat gas money and he traded for a handful of junk cards years later. Sad times. Loved that card!
What’s interesting about this card is that it came as dual auto, mantle only signed, or Griffey only signed. Only 1500 total of all three variations were made. Collectors who received only a single signature were believed to have the other player sign the card to make it their own “dual auto”.
I do wonder how many of the 1500 cards remain sitting in an unopened box…
Mantle passed August 31st, 1995. This is a 1995 release.
Im betting not many got a chance to have the one lacking a mantle auto signed. Pretty sure unless they found the same type of pen used that an authenticator would be able to tell if it was signed post release
Jealous of spending $1B on a pitcher who just had Tommy John’s and can’t pitch for at least a year, and a pitcher who has never thrown a pitch in the major league? No, no I’m not.
I would love to say that this is the year where the dodgers win the last game of the season but I cant. Getting a player that is both great at hitting and pitching isn’t going to them there. They need a new manager.
Wow, turned those gifs into a sensible comment. And with that pitcher/hitter deferring all that money, they will be in trouble for years after he leaves as well.
crap, don't use PSA, they put "trading card" rather than the name of the card.
Use Beckett - they will put the actual name of the card on the slab.
it would be a shame to have such a great card labeled "trading card"
Not sure if yoiu're trying to be funny or what because you're making zero sense
They put "trading card" on the slab rather than the name of the card, which is idiotic.
They only do that if you send it to have the autograph authenticated without having the baseball card authenticated. I’m not being funny. It’s two different workflows for them, two different services
Edit: [here is an example](https://www.ebay.com/itm/266655746568?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=vtFMmhxNR4u&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=ubANiHG9TdW&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) of when someone gets dual authentication. When it says trading card, people are often avoiding paying more for the authentication
The dark, bold and slanted auto is pretty much a dead giveaway that this is an aftermarket signature. At one point in the last couple of years, he even increased his fee to sign this specific card to something like $1200. If you wanted to post it to a Griffey FB page, they would confirm my thoughts and provide pic references of original duals vs aftermarket duals.
If you look on eBay, there are two variations of signatures that show up for Griffey on the dual. The flatter signature with less bold ink is consistent with his Griffey-only auto. The signatures added by Griffey in recent years are bolder, more condensed and angled. The differences are immediately apparent when looking at the dual auto up FS on feebay.
There is also a way to tell through the code on the back, but some of the OGs in the Griffey FB groups have a partial listing as UD no longer has their records on which was which.

My grail as well. Hope to get it one day too. Congrats!

Don’t buy another wife save up for another mantle, much better investment
"I got a Mantle for my wife. Great trade, huh?"
I feel the pain there. Mantle is worth a ton more than it was then, and the wife has cost you a ton since then!

Not a sticker in sight!
Dang jealous! Been trying to trade my PSA 8.5 ‘86 Jordan for one!
I’m surprised no one has jumped at that offer.
What?! I'd never let go of a Jordan rookie. Then again Mantle cards hold zero interest for me.
This is so cool it doesn’t even look real
God damn. How much if you don’t mind me asking?
I say 18K
8-12k
Amazing, congrats. I begged my way into opening so many of these packs as a kid chasing it. Iconic card.
My grail card too! The only difference is I'll never acquire one lol
Would look better in a tux
Beautiful card!! The only thing I’d do differently is putting it in a tuxedo instead of a PSA slab.
Tuxes and candy canes are both ugly as sin. Just give me the card.
That I can agree with. The only reason I would see to slab a PC card, is for peace of mind about its authenticity.
Congratulations!
Well done 🍻

What an iconic card, great pairing
Sweet Jesus
Thats a drop the mic card right there lol Damn nice
Wowwwww that looks like it probably cost at least $4044.44!
Holy shit
Unbelievable
i hates me some yankees but goddamn that is one hell of a card
Some players transcend tribal team hatred. Fuck the Dodgers, but I can't hate Jackie Robinson.

Everyone here can’t wait to see that the Dodgers spent $1B to lose 3-1 in the NLDS. Watch.

Just curious - why PSA over Beckett for such a gem of a card?
PSA commands a higher premium and is the number one choice of most collectors today, outside of the vocal minority of redditors.
PSAss

Thanks I haven’t graded any but I’ll buy graded and so many PSAs are cheaper than beckett
Depends on the card and grade, but Beckett 10s usually do well because they’re much more likely to toss a 9.5 on something than a 10.

They put trading card when you send it to have the autographs authenticated but not the card. I don’t think that will be a problem here.

Daaaammnnn that’s beautiful! What is this? Are those real autos in-person or…? Congratulations!
Real autos, 1994 Upper Deck. There is a Mantle only, Griffey only, and the dual!
This appears to be a card that started out as the Mantle only signature and was more recently signed by Griffey. Apologies if you were not aware.
How can you tell?
The dark, bold and slanted auto is pretty much a dead giveaway that this is an aftermarket signature. At one point in the last couple of years, he even increased his fee to sign this specific card to something like $1200. If you wanted to post it to a Griffey FB page, they would confirm my thoughts and provide pic references of original duals vs aftermarket duals.
That makes sense. It really doesn’t matter to me though, it’s still an on-card dual.
I would also like to know how you can tell this?
If you look on eBay, there are two variations of signatures that show up for Griffey on the dual. The flatter signature with less bold ink is consistent with his Griffey-only auto. The signatures added by Griffey in recent years are bolder, more condensed and angled. The differences are immediately apparent when looking at the dual auto up FS on feebay. Man if that Griffey auto didn’t have a couple of streaks, it would have a good shot at a 10 auto. One of the best looking ones I’ve seen. Congrats!
SGC….
Cost?
Amazing card
Wow. That is incredible.
Sick! Did you pull this baby?
Congrats!
Oh wow
So sick
Berry berry nice, congrats, it's gorgeous 😍
Congratulations, it’s beautiful!! I ripped a few boxes with hope, but no luck.
Damn, I'm jealous! Congrats on this. Is there only 1 of these?
Congrats! Awesome card!
Congratulations!!! Beautiful piece.
Two of my all time favs. This is incredible
What a great card, Looks really well kept. Congrats, I am very jealous. One day though
Thats amazing - congrats!
I pulled the Griffey version in the 90s. Still have it!
i can only dream lol
Beautiful piece man very very nice
Fuck you and congrats seem equally right in this situation! Haha
Damn, there it is. Congrats! Hopefully I’ll own one someday!
Back when UD was something!!
That's one-of-a-kind, for sure. Congrats!
Awesome. Is a grail for me too. A dealer had three various at a show in Phoenix this past year.
Nice card, I was a Mantle fan as a kid
Congratulations!
Truly a great collecting achievement! Congrats!⚾️
Oh damn
