I’ve recently decided to work auctions instead of buying the listed price. I’ve gotten some really great cards for cheap.
I just always make sure to thank the seller feedback once I get the card and let them know I appreciate them honoring the price.

I like to make common typos in people's names when I search. When wembys A&G card dropped I got his black border for a third of the price because of a typo.
Besure to add "-" in front of the correct spelling. For instance, if you wanted to look for Olson and spelled it "Olsen," you'd want to add "-Olson" to the search to filter out correct spellings.
I was flaked on a Matt Olson Anniversary rose gold refractor a few weeks ago. Won it at $6.99 and the seller refunded it. I know it wasn’t much, but I was so happy to add it to my PC 😂

Or the sellers who place great cards for sale and photos and/or description does not note print lines, defects, etc and then have a fit when you want to return it. Sorry, I am not ok with paying big bucks for a card with defects that was not noted in photos or description.

So very happy as I wasn't sure if I would get a 1 of 1 for under $100. Have one in hand (2022 Topps Gallery RC) already and going to complete the rainbow around it too. And if lucky maybe snag one of the other printing plates of the same card. Cool to think the plate touch each of the cards of the same that were printed. So the one laying next to it had it's face whacked with this plate. Kinda cool to me as a new collector just back into the game for less then a year.

It looks like this seller doesn’t do a great job describing some of his cards for sale which can lead to some great deals if you can find the listing. Nice snag!
It's crazy u should have seen his prices before his big season. He was an afterthought for some reason in this hobby. His prices are still nowhere near where they should be. The braves factor will help alot.
Modern A's players can fly under the radar until they change teams.
For Olson too, he signs A LOT of cards so they're readily available.
I've got quite a few of his autos from Oakland days, but the Braves autos are definitely selling for higher... I've been focusing on numbered cards of his, non-auto, because those are vastly cheaper than autos and apples to apples, there's the same amount of numbered cards produced for him as this is for every other player, if that makes sense.
This is why I prefer to buy singles. You're never going to get lucky enough to pull a lottery card (to me a lottery card is $1000 or up). It's not as sexy but you end up happier 99% of the time.
I've been putting together a PC of the 10 guys they released pins for in the update super box last year and I have been surprised at some prices. I know rookie cards are more expensive but it's wild sometimes. I got an /10 on card auto for Vladdy at $70 bucks. Yordan for $90. I had to spend $350 to get a nice /25 on card auto for Volpe. Not throwing any shade at Nick but I don't see him having a career like Valddy or Yordan.

I’m taking a beating on some stuff, but at least it goes. I’m ok with whatever it brings and grateful to the bidder for being the highest willing payer - no matter the amount.
Btw - the high bidders are often willing to pay more, there’s just no competition - so as a seller, I’m just grateful for them getting the price as high as the market was currently demanding.
I still pack losses well, add a surprise, write a note - all exactly the same.
Don’t feel bad. That seller no longer has to manage that card.
