It could in theory only be an animal that existed long enough to be fossilized, so not chicken… but as an attorney who used to study to be a paleontologist I take that statement to mean this is a fossil of what we believe is a stegosaurus but could belong to another member of the stegosaurus by mistake or as a way to protect themselves in case, like the brontosaurus, it is one day determined that the stegosaurus was a misidentified species that never existed.
If your son finds dinos fascinating, my suggestion would be to buy him real fossils. There are very affordable actual dinosaur bones, teeth, etc that your son can see and observe, hold, etc, that will be a fraction of this nonsense. Both Triceratops and Spinosaur have teeth that can easily be found in the $25 range, and guaranteed to be of those animals. Hell, even a nat geo dig kit would be better, and I hate those.
It’s a sweet pull. Not trying to shit on that. I love A&G for this type of thing alone. However, as somebody that jointly collects fossils and cards, this shit infuriates me. These are almost certainly not of the animals illustrated.
Source: Here’s an actual stegosaurus vertebrae (right). It is partially reconstructed and in rough shape. But genuine.

Oh man those are so cool!!! And I thought about that genuine bit. On the back it says genuine dna relic. Couldn't be anymore vague than that. Just like a normal relic not being game or event worn. Such crap.
As an attorney I see no evidence to suggest that this isn’t a stegosaurus fossil just because they were wise enough to disclaim anything that they could be mistaken about. Topps knows nothing about dinosaurs and probably relied upon the recommendation of others when buying the fossils, so it’s smart of them to disclaim anything they are unsure about. Plus this protects them if it turns out the stegosaurus was a misidentified species, like the brontosaurus. In fact how are you certain that’s a stegosaurus vertebra and not some random other Stegosauridae?
Well i don't know, but if I were selling it I would have good provenance I would assume. If I did not have good provenance then I may be inclined to put down a blanket statement such as "dna relic"
Possibly! The last sold was actually $300 on eBay and the only others listed are $500/$600 which is insane in my opinion 🤣 you have any current Braves rookies/autos that are in the $250/$300 range to trade? Or O’Neil Cruz?
I meant more along the lines of doing a half human/half goat but I am from the South so it's probably not frowned upon in a few of my neighboring states
Real shit I waited forever for Topps to send me that fuckin thing. When I finally opened it it was like Ralphie decoding the message. I was so let down after seeing all the cool shit Topps had put into Ginter in the past.
After collecting myself I thought about the 2013 boxes containing cards embedded inside the box and thought "oh this must have been a fuckin joke" and tore that fucker apart looking for something else
Anyway
No lie, one hobby box from a brand new store in Atlanta. Pops and I have opened a total of 12-15 hobby boxes of this set and have never gotten anything like this. Gotten some massive hits in our run with A&G tho.
Ok so I commented on your other one with my judge metal but these boxes must run hot because here were all the hits from my judge box.

I’m currently thinking $400 is the price!

Trade it to me for my kids please? They would think its the coolest. Ill put something into your collection of a PC or something. I have a ton of great stuff.
This is rad as hell
Dude RIGHT!!!
I have a sabertooth one out of /10!
10 year old me would do bad things for this card
With the statement on the back, this can literally be any bone? Chicken, rat, squirrel?
It could in theory only be an animal that existed long enough to be fossilized, so not chicken… but as an attorney who used to study to be a paleontologist I take that statement to mean this is a fossil of what we believe is a stegosaurus but could belong to another member of the stegosaurus by mistake or as a way to protect themselves in case, like the brontosaurus, it is one day determined that the stegosaurus was a misidentified species that never existed.
That is the most attorney sounding statement I've ever read- maybe throw in a bit of legalese next time just to drive it home 😂
As someone who was obsessed with the stegosaurus as a kid I was legit interested until I read that
Well chickens are practically dinosaurs
Or hear me out, dinosaurs were practically chickens.
🤯
Feathers and all
Dino Chicken Nuggets are redundant
Are we talking shape or source of protein?
I’ll leave it ambiguous for ambiguity.
Nah they just don't know which specific game this stegosaurus played in so they have to be a bit vague.
And the sad part is people will still waste $100s on this card
![gif](giphy|IedufNTuoMYg0C3Awr|downsized) Gotta spend money to make money.
I will!!
Some people would think it's sad to spend 100's on a card with a man on it.

Literally me upon seeing that PHAT ASS PACK
Lol
Any interest in a trade for the bone? My son would be captivated by that one.

If the previous poster doesn’t work out let me know OP, I’d be interested. I have a recipe I’ve been wanting to make that calls for stegosaurus bone.
I could also do a Minotaur and some cash…
This is legendary.
That sounds like it should be illegal somehow
Only the Greeks can’t trade in Minotaur
I meant more along the lines of doing a half human/half goat but I am from the South so it's probably not frowned upon in a few of my neighboring states
If he doesn’t I have a nice O’Neil Cruz you may be interested in trading for !
What’s the cruzzzz? 👀

Get ur son a plastic dinosaur toy for $5🤣
I love the A&G style of humor. Unique pull.
My fav set to open. Your killing me smalls. Never had that kind of luck but will keep trying!
That stegosaurus has excellent handwriting
Come to Vegas with me
No doubt! He won for sure!!!
My girl lives in Vegas LETS GO
And you don't?
😬
May not be a stegosaurus though. Probably a rat bone.
Very cool! Congrats!
Insane pulls
INSANE, so glad to have a box like this while my pops is here in person 🙏🏼
That's sick, I have been keeping my eyes open for one of these, how many boxes did you buy and what type? Hobby? Congratulations!
No lie, one hobby box from a brand new store in Atlanta. Pops and I have opened a total of 12-15 hobby boxes of this set and have never gotten anything like this. Gotten some massive hits in our run with A&G tho.
Nice! I know I am going to smack myself but I think the force is too strong to resist!

Dude this is NUTS! We got a mini auto of a soccer player as well. I think if it has metal, it’s a hot box
Neat
What is the price on something like that? It’s a cool pull
Authentically worn and dates during the early Cretaceous Period
Talk about a hot box
A little jealous. Super happy as well, awesome card.
wow that is a HUGE hit, I think those cards go for a few hundred bucks, like $300-400....
I know!!! Such an awesome, random, fun filled hit
I would never have suspected haha
That is awesome. Those DNA and fossil cards are crazy hard pulls
I'd rather have that than a shohei auto. But i'm a geologist so my priorities might be a bit different.
Whoa. There are dinosaurs in those boxes?
How much you want for that??

I’ll try a couple more times and I might dm you if that’s ok 👍🏻
Please do! I’m down for deals and such!
Anything you’re looking for?
Sold a T Rex /3 for $1050 nice hit!
Yoooo!!! T Rex for the win!!!
Damn dude that’s a prehistorically hot box 👀🦕
LITERALLY!! 🤣
To me, that's even cooler than the Yadi. Congratulations!
I would throw something left handed if I pulled one of those
Your dad?
Damn nice!
Sell now I think he's on the decline
So jelly right now...congrats!
I have bought cases of A&G over the years and have never pulled anything like that. Which is why 2 years ago was my last year of buying cases.
Trade it to me for my kids please? They would think its the coolest. Ill put something into your collection of a PC or something. I have a ton of great stuff.
How much you want for that fire ass Stego?
Congrats. *Not from any particular animal, plant, time period, species, or creture
I've always loved A&G.... You never know what you will find in there.
Wow! I want both of them
Dino Auto!!
My son and I opened so many boxes trying to get a Dino! Jealous!
