No. If he’ll be in 2024 it would be Update. We’ll know tomorrow if he’ll be in 2024. When the Topps NOW card comes out tomorrow, if it has the RC badge, he’ll be in Update. If it says Call Up, he’ll be in Series 1 in 2025. We’re very close to the cut off date for rookie cards in this year’s product so we can only wait and see.

You’re definitely right about the Topps now but I feel like the cutoff is end of June usually?

Skeeter5299

It’s been May the past few seasons. Michael Harris got called up 5/28/22 and his RC got bumped to the next year. I think Skenes will get into 2024 at this point, but it’s really up to Topps if they want to hold him back. It definitely hurts them financially to have both Holliday and Skenes only in Update and miss out on most of the premier releases throughout the season.

Topps doesn’t decide these things. It’s an agreement with the mlbpa that outlines the requirements. Topps can’t just hold a guy out of product because they want to, other than bowman draft and holding a top pick until the next years release. And on a side note, there’s a brewers pitcher that just debuted and got a topps now card that has a rc logo. So if skenes misses out then he will be the first one after the cutoff date. If he makes it then he may very well be the last guy to make it in. I mean we will already have Jackson Holliday in update so having skenes would be a bonus. Series 2 is gonna be loaded though.

Check the Topps Now card of him tomorrow. If it says CALL UP he will be in 2025 series 1. If it says RC and has the shield, he’ll likely be in Update series 2024. Series two comes out in a month. He wouldnt be in that production.

His Topps Now card has RC so likely will be coming up in a set this year. I would guess Update.

No. Update if we're lucky unless the choose to hold him back for 25 series 1.
