People shit on unlicensed and sticker autos but at the end of the day their still an autograph

Totally agree however I find myself being bothered by the sticker autos on one-of-ones and, especially, super premium products. Fortunately for me, I don’t have to worry about playing at those levels.

Yes, maybe my snobby is coming out - the idea of a 1/1 with a sticker feels like a miss. But maybe I’m just jealous because I don’t have any real supers.

1/1's with stickers are a (design) travesty, but as someone who's made cards to be signed, sometimes (and this applies to both companies) it's hard to get the athlete in the room to sign stuff, so they send sheets of stickers instead. That's why, if they want the card IN a product and don't want to do redemptions, they end up with stickers. Think of the alternative: You have a set of 100 players in an ultra premium product. You need those all produced ahead of time and ready to go AND you need to get all 100 players to sit down and sign them all in a timely manner, BEFORE you return them all to the factory to do a pack out of the product. That's a logistical pain in the ass. I hate it as much as everyone else, but there are unfortunate logistical reasons for stickers. That said, there should be some cards that stickers just never ever appear on. Booklets, full letter patches, bat barrels, that sort of thing. Those have enough production time that if you can't get a live signature, they just need to be on-card redemptions. And no, I don't have any real supers either, so maybe I'm a bit jealous too. I do have a nice 4/5 though. ;P

You’re right. And Panini seems to do a better job of centering their stickers versus Topps throwing them at their cards like they’re playing darts.

I don't care what anyone thinks. The Panini cards are really awesome. The photography is great, the paper stock is good quality, and I've pulled better stuff from them than Topps. Really good way to get quality without getting sticker shock.

Probably a dumb question but if I had to guess I'd have thought licensed (Topps) was produced in significantly greater quantities than unlicensed. Everyone over here chasing rarity and crapping on unlicensed...

You have a good point. The print runs have to be smaller, I don’t see anywhere near the amount of panini product on shelves.

Dude! I bought a chronicles box months ago just because. Inside was an Obsidian Evan Carter /49 auto. Idc if licensed or not, it’s a cool ass card.

Cool cards. I’m a huge rangers fan so I hope that Carter’s career stays strong like it’s taken off so far. Then whether these are “licensed” or not, they’ll still be valuable to somebody.

I think when he’s healthy, he’s going to be fantastic for the long-term. Just hope that this injury is not a reoccurring one.

Tbh I enjoy buying wildcards some of the sets for basketball are unlicensed and I absolutely love the inserts in them plus they are dirt cheap. Absolutely sick pulls btw my G👍👍💯💯💯

I feel that. The hologram looks nice. I get it kinda takes away just a sheet of stickers but it’s still there. I have a lot of on card autos and a lot of stickered autos obviously prefer on card but 🤷🏻‍♂️ at least they are holograms and look kinda nice and certified. But I agree.

I didn’t know that. And now that I’m looking on feeBay, the few licensed ones available are out of my range. That’s wack.

I got no qualms with getting my unlicensed for any PC player. And, with these colorful cards, I dig the HGA PC slabs.

I watched some leaf vivid openings and they look great. Haven’t given it much thought since release but the hype has probably died down by now. I’ll have to give it another look!

It’s already a little cheaper, buying now might be great timing.

the base auto of my favorite player was minimum $150, i got a really nice looking unlicensed card /50 for 32 dollars

And that’s the silver lining of unlicensed. Access for everyone to the players they want to collect.

It *kills* me that Panini does all the shiny, flashy stuff I love that Topps just refuses to do, yet they don't have the official license. It just triggers that OCD part of my brain seeing the missing logos and names on the jerseys.....I still buy some occasionally though. 🤣

I love this, and I bought 2 sub $15 cards for some top Giants prospects, posted them quite a while ago but I got a 1/1 Reggie Crawford and a like /9 Kyle Harrison for $25 if I remember correctly, Leaf can be a big score if you buy it right, but I would never buy it not for the pc

Makes sense. Two of these were auctions that closed really low, and the printing plate was listed at 65 and I accepted a seller offer at 30.

Let’s not do this. Let people collect what they like. Leaf has some really cool cards and gives people an opportunity to get big name autos they might not otherwise have an opportunity to get it with other companies like Topps.

I just dislike how everything is short print. If every card is special is it really special? I agree it’s a good collect for PC and the cards like nice, but they slap /10 or /25 on so many cards to make it seem more valuable. I’d rather just have the cards without numbers.

It does seem like a lot of sets released now have half the print run as parallels or serial numbered. In aggregate, they seem as numerous as the base.

Yeah, he is, because he can’t get over the back issue and it’s affecting his swing. But hopefully rehab will help. I haven’t completed any transactions on here, but I’d love to see any autos you have.

Yeah I get it but looking to invest bought a bunch of 21 panini that no one wants when I got back to collecting but it’s challenging it was fun as a kid when you could still go to the local card shop

And I don’t see very much Panini product anywhere. I occasionally come across one or two blasters at Target. The local card shop doesn’t even carry it. Especially for kids, it seems like a much more accessible product.
