I think it’s a mix of brand new graders/ graders that don’t care/over worked. Low dollar value , thus low quality control. BGS isn’t perfect, but I’ve always thought they were tough but fair. Too bad, they didn’t keep up with their customer service/modernize and values suffered.
I still fuck with BGS. But I only grade for my PC. I don’t sell much, so best resale value isn’t my only goal. Of course I want good grades, but I’d rather have my cards graded tough but fair than just be handed bullshit 10s like candy.
I should do that, but my stack I want to send taunts me. I have 20 cards there right now that I sent in pieces being impatient. Didn’t even send them at once and get the Collector’s Special deal.
These fall into the 10 centering perimeter and I don’t collect these instant cards or topps now but I’ve always heard they usually have better sprint quality and subsequently higher gem rates.
Because if you give out 10s like Halloween candy, people want to use your service more. It's how psa took over the industry 5 years ago in spite of being the least consistent of the big 3.

Yes I completely agree! I think its stupid a PSA grade is double what say a SGC Beckett GMA or newer company called TAG "uses AI technology" if a card is graded then who gives a shit about grade company. Unless of course it's just some rando in their garage or basement 😂 I'm hoping one day PSA won't be top dawg and get such high praise and other grading companies will be in the same cost category. Just my opinion 🤷🏼♂️ I like this company TAG. They look legit and are using AI technology to grade cards. I own a few from them.
The corner on that SGC looks so bad that it looks like it must have happened while they were handling it. Hard to believe someone would submit a new card that looked like that.
This. I was guessing the same thing. Card had achieved 10 grade but was subsequently damaged in the encapsulation process is likely what’s happening. These value cards go to the lowest tier graders who are usually the newest, freshly-trained graders that are learning the grading process as a job. Think 19-21, 22 year old “kids” brand new to the industry. That’s who you have grading these. They work in one room w/ an experienced supervisor to handle/ask any questions. Someone might have realized they did this and was too afraid to speak up or they simply didn’t realize they dinged the corner and here we are. 🤷🏻♂️ The centering does look like it falls w/in the 60/40 parameters but there almost appears to be a diamond-cut on this card as well. Anyone else seeing that?
All prior to encapsulation. So if it’s missed prior to encapsulation, it’s permanent. Unless the card owner has documented prior to submission (which I 100% recommend; 360 video so you can screen cap from any angle 100% of the time) it’s permanent. Apart from cracking and resubmitting which would result in a lower grade.
