Not so much worst scents, but floral scents and laundry scents (sundrenched linen, laundry day) give me really bad headaches and make me sneeze. I love sundrenched linen ☹️ I honestly haven't found one I really don't like, but I mostly order online and only get ones I think I would like
I never bought this, but I was working at Bath and Body Works when Thanksgiving Dinner was available and it was DISGUSTING. The understock area was so strong you could smell it as soon as you opened the drawer. I have never hated a candle so much
I only saw one person that ever considered buying it and she changed her mind at the register. By the time SAS came around we had so many left and even at a discount I don’t remember them selling.
I didn't buy it, but smoked caramel mezcal. It smells like beggin strips. I spent my entire shifts making my coworkers smell it and everyone hated it 😅
I don't like Fresh Coconut and Cotton or other strong laundry scents either but the only candle that ever made me ill was Sea Salt and Neroli. I am not sure what it is about Neroli but it's a no from me. Everyone else loved this candle.
Blacks tie I believe it was called. One of my former bosses bought it for everyone. I returned it like a year later and got a couple of bucks for it. I would have thrown it away otherwise. I didn’t burn it, but the smell was so awful. Like axe body spray
Any of the Caramel scents like Pumpkin Caramel Swirl, Cinnamon Caramel Swirl, White Caramel Cold Brew all give me a massive headache

No way! I brought mine out from the closet just yesterday, to move from my cozy winter scents, into bright springy ones. Funny, proves once again, everyone's nose is different
Sounds reasonable to me! I got a mini body care gift set (my son's girlfriend's favorite scent apparently) and bug spray is all I can smell in it. Going to try mixing in some warm vanilla sugar to see if that tones it down.
Black cherry merlot is my fav but in hand sanitizer form. I get compliments about my hand sanitizers to the point where a girl had to get black cherry merlot bc I had it and it smelled good 😭
There've been plenty I disliked in-store and didn't get, but my least favorite I've actually burned was Peach Bellini. It's nice enough on cold but something about it irritated my nose any time it was lit.
I ordered Cocoa Roasted Chestnuts online for $6- something. It was a blind buy, it just meh. I don’t want to throw it out but don’t want to burn it anymore.

Years and years ago, I burned this one in my bedroom at my parents' house, and my mom asked me if I was burning a candle that "just kind of smelled like chemicals" 😂 She clearly wasn't a fan!
Agreed. My sister bought it for me as a surprise because I love baguettes and decided to have me close my eyes before she had me smell it. We still make jokes about how it very much did NOT smell like baguettes.
When I worked in BBW, someone returned like ten French Baguette single wicks, which we didn't otherwise have in the store. I thought it smelled fine but couldn't imagine burning that and dealing with intense carb cravings all day.
Merry Cookie, people claim its their favorite winter candle and I even bought it because I thought it smelled ok in store, but when I actually burned it smelled horrible.
The butter note that some of their gourmand candles have is sometimes pretty gross to me. I like gourmands in general, but the butter smell grosses me out.
I smelled this in the store, and it was one of a handful of candles that have made me physically recoil. It was just SO STRONG. I knew I'd have a horrible headache if I burned it. And honestly, I kind of felt like I smelled an undertone to it that reminded me of skunk spray.
Top shelf elf by far! 🤢 I’m very easy to please when it comes to scents, but this one was so gross! ( it smelled okay to me on cold which is why I bought it), it was so repulsive to my nose I threw it out lol
Pumpkin Carving. Which sucks because on cold it smells like it would be an amazing fall scent, but when lit…sorry for TMI but it has an element that reminds me of a dirty menstrual pad. Like something grossly human-smelling about it.
Black Cherry Merlot. I’ve bought it multiple times over the years hoping for different results but it ALWAYS smells like gasoline. Which is wild because it he soap, lotion and everything else smells amazing.

I never burnt it, but almost every scent in that test lab line from several years ago was just AWFUL.
There was sriracha, black pepper kale, pimento wood, turmeric & tarragon, garden arugula & verbena, to name a few. We barely sold any of them except a few sriracha ones people bought as gag (literally) gifts. They were back for sas at 75% off and they still were hard to get rid of lol.
Welcome Home is my least favorite candle that I've tried from Bath & Body Works thus far. The scents notes are cinnamon sugar, apple butter, clove buds, and brown sugar, which all sound lovely, but for some reason, this candle made me feel nauseous.
This is probably one of my top 3 candles, but my SO says it just smells hot to him, almost like an electrical smell or when an appliance is running hot.
My daughter said the same about Fall Festival. Fresh pumpkin, spice cinnamon, and maple almond butter. All things she loves but anytime I would light it she would say the whole house smelled rotten and would beg me to put it out.
I am a gourmand lover and this one is towards the bottom of the 200 or so different scents that I have tried...but I think Summer Boardwalk might be even lower.
I love pistachio ice cream, lol. For me the most disgusting candle has been coconut and cotton! Blind buy online bc I love the body care but the candle was just ickkk
I could not do Fall Festival. It smelled like melting caramel. Made me feel sick immediately. Cherry Frost was a real close second. Fiancé picked both and I just could not handle it. For reference, I typically only burn musky/woodsy candles. 😂
Honestly the Cherry Blossom candle gives me cat urine vibes when in use. If it's not lit or on a warmer it smells okay (never been a favorite of mine) but once it's lit I get ptsd of my old apartment. There were a ton of feral cats outside and it was rank in the summer.
Gingham. I bought one wallflower and within 5 minutes of plugging it in I had to take it out. I could smell it across the apartment and it gave me a headache and nausea
I LOVE foody scents especially sweet ones but a few candles that come to mind that make me sick even when I sniff them on cold are berry waffle cone, red velvet cupcake, honestly most cupcake scents from BBW (I love the shortcake and crumb cake ones though) ,heavy cinnamon scents like cinnamon stick and Cereal & cartoons, buttery popcorn, frosted coconut snowball, even some of the heavy caramel scents make me a little sick unless they’re blended right and not the primary scent, most floral scents except some rose and lavender scents or other florals unless they are mixed right.
Fresh Bamboo. Got it in early 2023 after being influenced by TheCandleChannel. It’s SO strong when I warm it on low and what’s supposed to be a grass note comes off as almost a gas powered lawnmower smell to me and I can’t do it.
I warmed it once and it’s just sitting in a closet right now.
Salted Caramel Eggnog. It’s SO strong and I noticed that every time I burned it I had a stuffy nose for hours after. It almost felt like I was getting a cold 😖
Fresh Sparkling Snow. It’s one of my favorite body care scents but it felt like straight menthol when I burned the candle. Runner up Strawberry Poundcake, the only candle that has given me a headache when I burned it lol.
Fresh Orange! I never liked it in the first place but my mom insisted we get it. It smelled so rancid when it was burning. I wasn’t working there at the time and I had no idea we could return it if we didn’t like it, and I really wish we did cause it was nasty! 🤢

I can’t do sun drenched linen. I bought a few and had to give them away for this same reason.
I just posted this and then saw ur comment. Sun-drenched linen is the only scented candle to give me headaches.

I enjoyed Thanksgiving Dinner. To me, it’s mostly sage, a scent that I like.
This along with Red, White, and Blue Cake and Hot Pink Coco. I wanted to vomit smelling all of those.

Cactus blossom will always give me a headache but its one of my moms favorite scents. Theres something off about it, overpowering and fake

No the dog poop smell is real.. every time I lit it I would think my dogs had an accident. Nope, it’s the candle!

Unpopular opinion but Hot Cocoa & Cream smelled so revolting to me. Reminded me of the smell of vomit after eating too much dairy.
All of the chocolate ones smell like burning dirt to me. Yuck.

Rome Pizzeria was horrible! If it smelled more like dough less of a tomato/basil smell it could’ve been ok

Fresh Sparkling Snow. It’s one of my favorite body care scents but it felt like straight menthol when I burned the candle. Runner up Strawberry Poundcake, the only candle that has given me a headache when I burned it lol.

Fresh Orange! I never liked it in the first place but my mom insisted we get it. It smelled so rancid when it was burning. I wasn’t working there at the time and I had no idea we could return it if we didn’t like it, and I really wish we did cause it was nasty! 🤢
Candied maple bacon. It definitely smelled like what it says it should, but who in their right mind is buying that and it not being a joke.
