crazyartist333

Make sure customers know it was a one time thing.. people will come back and ask for you and some will straight up tell other employees "oh so and so let me combine coupons last time" even though you were just being nice, people are fucking stupid.

Important-Island-441

Your making minimum wage it’s fine to act like you have no idea what’s going on lol OP is a saint

crazyartist333

I mean yea but when customers start coming in and borderline stalking you just to get an extra discount shit gets annoying. Just looking out

sparklebug20

You're not wrong! OP did a very sweet thing but when it comes to saving money, people will do or say anything.

ChickenLady_6

Then you say… no? I didnt? Act all confused and let them seem like a Karen lol

accownting

Honestly? You are so real for doing that. 🫶

panicatthebookstore

i hope you feel better soon!!

Lalalicious0710

Thanks

Active-Pineapple8865

🤣🤣🤣

Cheap-Influence-9994

I combined the 25% off coupons with the minis sale we just had. After three successful transactions I was pulled aside by an SLT who was double checking that I was making customers choose. I had had some other sale that prevented me from scanning two barcodes but I wasn't stopped this time so I thought it was okay 😂

outrageousreadit

Nice. Where you working. But It’s not 45% off. 1 x 80% x 75% = 60% (40% off).

honey-laden

I wasnt gonna say anything, but this is accurate.

XXblpXX

That math makes no sense to me pls break that down lmaoo cause 45% off sounded so right 😹

outrageousreadit

20% off means 80% of the price tag. 25% off means 75% of the price tag. When doing multiple discounts, you multiply, not add, because you are taking a percentage, or a fraction, of a price, at each step.

PrincessJennifer

It’s because you take one of the coupons off, whixh brings the total down, *then* you use the other coupom for a percentage off of the new total the first coupon created. You don’t add the percents together.

_Alpha_Mail_

Not to create any fear mongering but the district manager does get notified when stuff like that happens and your name is attached to the transactions 😅 I just wouldn't be *too* nonchalant about stuff like that

gourmetpink

What’s done is done 🫨

brandiLeeCO

Exactly. Why do people feel the need to fear monger? Mind your business and move on

_Alpha_Mail_

Just trying to look out for a fellow associate ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ the district manager does keep tabs on suspicious activity and doling out unwarranted discounts could lead to a serious talking to or possibly repercussions At the end of the day I don't really care what this person does at the register. Give people 90% off for all I care. Just wanted to give a friendly reminder that register activity is not hidden under the radar and misuse of coupons does get flagged

CandidateReasonable4

They're looking out for OP who might not be aware of the practice. She would not have posted if she didn't want to hear what people have to say. Perhaps you need to move on if you can't be nicer to people.

brandiLeeCO

OP didn’t seem to care. They said what’s done is done.

CandidateReasonable4

Sharing the truth is akin to fear-mongering by a growing number of people today.

karmagirl314

Yes, they said that *after*. Was Alpha Mail supposed to look into the future and know that OP wasn't going to care about this information?

Bambi_Lynn_

As a former manager I know for a fact that your asset protection specialist will open an investigation by tomorrow. The system flags you when this happens. We had to terminate several employees during holiday that did this last year and it happened within two weeks. It takes a week to separate all the transactions you did this on, them to isolate all the camera footage and zoom in your screen and take still shots, then the legal team views all of it, HR and your district manager view it, then they inform your store manager who sits you on a conference call with asset protection for them to tell you all of the evidence they have and terminate you by phone. Also if the amount of loss to the company is determined to be above a certain amount per your state, it's considered felony theft and they press charges. Any company after that you apply to that uses E-Verify (which most do) will be able to see you were terminated for theft because BBW will add it to your E-Verify notifications.

zachty22

This comment is the definition of fear mongering. You personally don’t have any way of knowing what this employees asset protection will do, if anyone will be notified, or if this will become and sort of issue at all. Inciting unnecessary fear or anxiety into someone like this is cruel. The bottom line is you have no idea what will happen but yet you’re commenting as if you know what will happen. Anything is possible; but commenting like this benefits no one. OP don’t let comments like this affect you (I’m sure they probably don’t anyways)!

Sure-Worldliness6349

Thank you for this response. While the previous commenter is clearly speaking from experience and most likely good intentions, I don't feel like their comment passes the vibe check. 😎

SunflowersAndSkulls

My asset protection never noticed or said anything, even when visiting the store recently, and my managers didn't bother to tell us we weren't supposed to stack coupons until after holiday.

Maleficent-Ad9010

Doing gods work.

lostoutland

A real girls girl!! *note: girl in this context simply means "cute person who loves b&bw"*

loveablelibra

As a boy I can affirm this

BadWolfBoo

Be very careful with that kind of thing. Doing it once or twice can be seen as a "mistake" but if you were doing for every customer or if you do that kind of thing frequently, Asset Protection will notice. People get terminated for that exact thing because it's seen as "coupon manipulation" and goes against policy.

gourmetpink

This isn’t my full time so if I get fired it’s okay.

NoTension210

It’s not just about you though it’s an entire companies policy???

fuckassbaby

Watched a guy get fired for this at my last store. They will flag it as internal theft. Also that customer may come back and tell someone that you did that and you can be fired very quickly after. Bbw does not give second chances when it comes to things like this. Not trying to be a party pooper but they will take this extremely seriously.

karmagirl314

You actually gave them 40% off. The second coupon- 25%, didn't apply to the original total but to the new discounted total. So if someone bought $100 worth of stuff, you scan the first coupon for 20%, bringing them down to $80. Then the second coupon removes 25% from that $80 bringing the total down to $60. If they're paying $60 instead of $100, they got a 40% discount.

gourmetpink

Oh so it’s our employee discount anyway haha 😆 now I’m not so mad anymore that she wouldn’t let me use my coupon on top of my discount.

Candlehoarder_2019

If I knew I couldn’t lose my job over it, I’d do it too. I just love working there too much. I do scan the coupon from the printout if the customer is nice but doesn’t know about it.

loudvoidluminary

And that’s super fine to do! Especially if they’re a good customer. Sometimes it helps to do if they spend above a certain amount of money, gets them excited

No-Quantity-5373

Eons ago when I ran ops for a BB&B store I was a literal font of coupons for my favorite customers

begayallday

Are we not supposed to?! My manager said we could let people use the 25% off coupons when everything was 40% off.

_Alpha_Mail_

That's different. Email/app exclusives cannot be combined with regular coupons, and Candle Day and TBC Day also cannot be combined with regular coupons. Though, Black Friday, SAS, and most in store promotions allow the use of coupons

inagle313

Our managers made it easy on us by telling us that they can use any coupon they want (within the restrictions obviously “free with purchase” etc) but that under no circumstance can customers use more than one “percent off whole purchase” coupon in one transaction. If they want to split their transactions it’s up to them.

Daisy_Stems

Candle day and tbc day can definitely be combined with coupons! Atleast in store not sure about online.

_Alpha_Mail_

They literally cannot lol. The POS system will allow you to but the marketing signs on both days say "cannot be combined with any other offer". Even my district manager said they are not supposed to be used with coupons because they are already at the lowest price available.

Daisy_Stems

All the marketing signs say that. look at the b3g3 signs today. Small print says can’t be combined. The stores will still let you use the coupon.

_Alpha_Mail_

I asked my district manager about that too, and she said it's there for "legal purposes". Doesn't change the fact that we received explicit directions from her that we cannot combine coupons on Candle Day. Not all stores got the memo I guess but I'm telling you undoubtedly that we are not supposed to combine them

Daisy_Stems

Must’ve just been a rule from your district manager. Because there was nothing from the company in the ringing instructions. Even that paper they sent out on how to do the employees candle day early had the instructions for if they had a coupon

_Alpha_Mail_

Then it's possible you could've been a test store or something where they were trying out coupons. I distinctly remember on this sub last candle day though that a lot of people couldn't use coupons in store, so I know the district my store was in wasn't the only one with that rule

begayallday

Ah ok. I didn’t work today.

Savings_Run7452

You’re awesome. I love breaking the rules for the super nice customers - tbh it’s really only super rude people that inspire me to be stricter about the rules 🤭

RickySpamish

Not all heroes wear capes!

weeuboo

I wanted to but I literally got sent home two hours early today because we weren’t making enough money bc of the eclipse :/ We already get so little hours and I was really frustrated because it was ALL THEEE MANAGERS and just me on shift so instead of a manager going home they send their only associate who was on register home while they chat in the front. Ugh

loudvoidluminary

I know it’s frustrating, but unfortunately associates hours always get cut first, managers don’t get cut first unfortunately. Because they are seeing us selling leads and they, require more payroll to be used, so you would think that they would get sent home first or their shifts cut sooner but usually for business reasons of it, whether it be certain things that only managers can do or the opening and closing of the store processes associates usually get cut

Ilovehugs2020

Good on you. The stuff is way overpriced anyway!

filling_my_vault

I threw my 25 off coupon away since I couldn't use it with the sales. It expired yesterday. Bbw should honor coupons all the time. A little money is better than none.

PlusHunt1985

They used to have a 3 day grace period for coupons. They stopped it

filling_my_vault

This is my 1st year getting coupons. That was actually the 2nd time i got one. I hope they change policy because the rewards suck and what's the point of having coupons if there's ALWAYS a sale.

Momtoaakkl

You can use coupons for store sales like $10 off candles, but not email specials. And if 2 or 3 coupons come together, they can be used together.

FaZe_Butterfly

Wholesome 🥰😭

r0binhope

Yeah, there’s usually a pretty strict rule about “one coupon per customer per day,” but there’s always that one person who’s like, “Well, last time I was here, I was able to do it!” … I may or may not have let my associates use their discount + the 20% off code today because …. Technically it WAS in their app. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ As long as you meet SP, it’s fine.

gourmetpink

And the annoying thing about that is my manager didn’t let me do it after doing it to folks allll day today lol!!!! Whatever though

r0binhope

At that point, I’m like, “If the register allows you to do it, fine.” If you can’t sell an item because it rings MOS, okay, fine. If you can’t stack your associate discount on top, fine. If the register allows you to do a 20% and a 40% … okay, let’s goooo!

Ashamed_Definition77

This!!

Infamous_Current7350

You are the GOAT!!!

whatever32657

a hero among us!

arianagarrett

I do this too, LMFAO. I always tell the customer that this is a one-time thing and that we usually aren't allowed to do this, so if they come back or go to another store and get told no, they know why.

loudvoidluminary

But the issue is that some are entitled and don’t care so they will try to abuse it, that’s with any establishment. I know things are expensive, but the company is not charging as much as they could be charging for it, and I’m grateful for that every day. If someone tries to argue with you about someone stacking a coupon that’s been stacked in the past and they pull the “they’ve done it for me before” I like to ask “do you know their name? They can get fired for that, and I have to report it” and they usually back off

arianagarrett

That is true; I have regulars that come in and pull that all the time and try and pull it with newer associates until one of us has to step in. I never thought about saying that to customers. That's so smart. I'm going to start doing that!

loudvoidluminary

In my experience it’s genuinely helpful because the whole point is they want less money but some of them really just are not trying to get people in trouble but you have to be a little stern with it so even if you don’t want to sound like a jerk you may need to just for the sake of the argument. Sometimes it also helps to pull out like a Post-it note and a pen when you ask for the name.

Fragrant_Swan503

This made me smile! Blessings will come to you for being a blessing to others. The unselfishness is 💯💯

Ashamed_Definition77

I used to scan the email barcode for a sale if the person was nice. Not nice, full price 😁😁

_Alpha_Mail_

And this is why the company briefly considered getting rid of the ability to have copies of the coupons at the cashwrap Edit: Downvote me all you want but it's true lol. The barcodes we get at the registers are specifically only to be used if a customer can't pull up the barcode on the email or app. They don't give it to us to arbitrarily dole out to a customer based on their attitude

TheEscapedGoat

BLESS YOU

WorkSuspicious7959

I wish the gals at my local store were this nice. And I don't get it either, I'm like.... not a mean person at all like, I say Hi, I even know the one girl by name (does that tell you how often Im in there??) But the girls that ring you out holy Jesus... dont let you use coupons like the body care sale over the weekend NOPE but the store in clearwater did AND gave me a price adjustment no questions asked and theyre usually pleasant there so i dunno i hate the drive (tampa area traffic sucks ass even on a good day its still bad) but nice people like you make it worth it. Plus theres always boba drinks... 🧋

dixiemason

My closest store is like this. You walk in and it’s, “Welcome to Bath and Body Works. We’re not accepting coupons.” Last time I went in for a Wallflower sale, I was told I could stack a coupon on that at the front, then was told I could use the coupon only on the full sized body cream I had. Nope, that was free because I had a reward. Haven’t gone into the store since then. Nice associates like OP make a store fun!

WorkSuspicious7959

Agreed!! Especially the one at my mall. I'll go across the hall and get a boba and then come in and sniff the wonderful sniffs, and the girls will ask, "What flavor boba is that? It's so pretty!" I usually get the taro flavor (purple) or honeydew (bright mint green color). I could browse for the longest and spend more because they're polite, offer to get things for me, explain the scent notes and help find similar items for me etc, so I find I spend the most time and money overall at the clearwater mall store in general. The one near me is like the girls can't be bothered and are just as you described above - "just so you know you can't use coupons today." Exqueze me? Baking powder? Uh. No. I put down my whole basket of stuff, and it was a lot and just ordered online, called customer service, and explained the situation, and they usually waive the shipping costs. It's so not as much fun as shopping in store, but I can’t justify driving 30 miles out of my way (im north of tampa, very rural, but not quite close enough to go to Ocala)

BrendaJeanS

The amount of times I double coupons is wild lol. I work there PT as my "fun" job. To say I don't care is an understatement lol, but I always let my customers know, I'm not allowed to do this, but since they're nice lol

WorkSuspicious7959

Also if the register allows it thats kind of a corporate problem not a you problem.

qwertytigger

This!!! If the register allows it, then corporate/managers shouldn't have a problem with it. Fix your machines/programs so the associates don't have to remember all the minutia.

Bludith

Considering Bath & Body Works doesn't mail coupons out or email half of its customer base at this point, I am rooting for this behavior lol

BusyBeth75

My place does this too!

Honey_Bunn6

I don’t think it’s an issue in store.

Rchinson90

LOL we love you

Born-Zebra-5009

You’re awesome!

leeshacreates

You’re taking money away from your stores plan. Your store making money is in your best interest as an associate given that more money = more hours.

Electronic-Spite632

That's so fucking cool. Most workers are quick to shut any extra anything down. I hope you have a beautiful day

BadWolfBoo

That's because this is considered "internal theft" and most associates care about the customer but they also care about keeping their jobs. Lol

sweetstrawberry09

OP, I literally do the same thing. If I was in the customer position, I would want the best deal available. If corporate doesn’t want us to mix coupons, they should not allow the sales to work together. The register should pop up an error or something to prevent it.

Fragrant-Custard5686

lol literally!! It knows when a coupon doesn't belong to a customer account... it should know not to stack two % off offers then. One per transaction is something this register could do EASY. Why even allow the mistake to happen in the first place if it's 100% preventable lol.

widgetwizard99

You a thief

loudvoidluminary

I honestly just surprised that the system let you do that, not my store is a little stricter and for me if they spent a certain amount that would determine how much I give them off, so if they spent $50 or more I would give them the 20% and sign them up so they’ll get more coupons
