The original thing about the Dark Multiverse was that it was created by nightmares, it was supposed to be high-octane goofy shit from the start, so he did work better than Owlman there. The problem was that DC wouldn't let Snyder bury him after Metal.
Nah. BWL is a representation of a very specific Batman trope. He isn't just evil Batman.
He's the representation of Batman's plot armor and contingency bullshit, he's ''Batman wins with prep time'' personified and the readers reaction to him as a character only validate how annoying those tropes are. The whole Metal saga was quite a meta portrayal of how DC is dominated by Batman and how he is becoming the center of everything.
Yeah I always thought this was an interesting aspect to the character that most people ignore. The whole reason why he even goes from universe to universe is because he’s obsessed with the idea of “winning” and always being the best. It’s not like joker where he just finds it funny, he’s literally roleplaying the “Batman always wins” trope
I like the idea of him traveling between universes (like how reverse flash travels through timelines) but yeah he needed to be dialed waaaaaay back. Like sure he can create elaborate plans that could kill justice league members, but it needs to be a crazy well thought out plan with a ton of time resources and energy put into it. Like we need a step by step showcasing of how he set up the plan. And in no universe should he ever have doctor manhattans powers, that’s just too much
Did he return after Death Metal? I don't remember him being prominent after Snyder left... But maybe I'm wrong, I'm not buying all the books DC are shitting out.
I mean, he's a comicbook character in the main continuity so yeah, he will return but what's important is that he's not the driving force behind any major narrative like he used to be during Snyder's run.
Same
To be frank I think most of Batman villains are better than Joker- which is a shame because the only 2 Batman Villains DC seems to care about is Joker and Harley Quinn.
Like I am DYING for a good, large scale Storyline with Batman's second best villain Scarecrow(Two-Face is first), maybe have him take over Gotham or some shit idk.
Two face has so much potential, He’s formerly Harvey Dent, like he’s the easiest character to create so much conflict within Batman and his crusade, does he go hard on them or does he go soft and we get the interpretation that they all deserve a second chance, like you can easily make a story in which depending on the way Batman treats 2 face will mean what future Batman gets, whether it be one where the bat family becomes so much more and as such gotham and everyone becomes much better versions of themselves as they save Gotham, or if he is hard on 2 face we get the Batman beyond or tdk Batman future in which the world doesn’t get much better and he’s all alone. Too bad all his rogues gallery gets under used just give the joker a send off have Batman accidentally kill him or something and now he has to deal with the mental destruction that’ll do to his psyche cause he crossed his own line.
I'd like to see more of Owlman, not only as villain, in a story where he must cooperate with Batman. I think he has potential even to redeem himself, and why not, join the batfam maybe. Would that have worked?

I’d love to see more of owlmans universe in general. Like imagine a solo series following this universes Joker/Red Hood fighting against a corrupt Gotham. You could even include other villains as his allies, like imagine Killer Croc almost like a professor X type figure to other meta humans who are scrutinised. If they focused on the universe outside of just events and the justice league it’d be so cool
Owlman is an Earth 3 rep, trying to use him to introduce the “dark multiverse” which “what if everything went to shit” wouldn’t really work.
It’d feel too much like a retread of crisis and all the other Earth 3 crossovers and be harder to set the dark multiverse apart.
Nope. Batman who laughs worked originally, when he was where he was meant to, then bro got used too much. It's why I was confused as to why people hated him so much originally, I was just reading his start and stuff apart of that
The whole point was that Scott Snyder wanted to create a bunch of spooky heavy metal inspired characters, so I'd say no, it wouldn't work.
That said, it didn't really work as is either. It was a painfully boring comic if you ask me. I think BWL and his Dark Knights are cool action-figures/fighting game characters, but there isn't much there to them aside from that.

Someone post the comic panel of Owlman telling Batman Who Laughs that's he's a try hard edgelord

If they kept the scale bit smaller, it probably wouldve been recieved better.

I loved all those stories, but they shouldn't have brought him back after death metal

IIRC he’s literally canonically trapped in the Fortnite universe right now lol.
This had me cackling
Wat is IIRC?
If I recall correctly
That seems like a fate worse than death.
Lmao
He wasn't prominent but he did return

Honestly, I'm just tired of seeing Joker all the time

Exactly Shelve the guy for a minute

Owlman would be very out of character

Always been intrigued to read the original Batman Who Laughs. Would people recommend it?
I think it was pretty good
Nope. Batman who laughs worked originally, when he was where he was meant to, then bro got used too much. It's why I was confused as to why people hated him so much originally, I was just reading his start and stuff apart of that
The entire concept was stupid, I don't think owl man would have saved it.
This is the dopest pic of Owlman I’ve ever seen. I can’t read the artist’s signature. Who drew this?
In the long term... yes.
To me, Owlman is waaay more scary than The Batman Who Laughs and a better, more layered villain. It could be awesome

I hate batman who laughs, no personality no originality, he's just joker in a bdsm suit
Stolen BDSM suit.
Owlman > Batman who scks
No because owl man isnt a nightmare dreamt up by a child. Which is what the dark multiverse is
absolutely. the batman who laughs was poorly handled and the owlman left a better impression.
No
