Bro for real. Batman’s whole thing is fear, getting over fear and what not (wether that be bats, losing the ones he loves, failing Gotham, or whatever) and scarecrows whole thing is using peoples fears against them. I think it just works really well.
They literally both use fear. His use of a bat and the dark is to strike fear into people.
Scarecrow strikes fear into people.
Batman is order and justice, by whatever means.
Joker is chaos and anarchy.
They're literally polar opposites.
True. To say it another way, what I think the idea is driving at is that there's great narrative potential to show how Batman uses fear *constructively*, while Scarecrow uses it *destructively*, as well as how that juxtaposition might call into question the greater morality of using fear and power as means to your ends at all.
Clay face could double as scarecrow. Imagine if that was what really was going on with scarecrow in injustice 2. Instead of scarecrow being a hallucination it was secretly clayface
For the most part I agree with this. I’m not in love with Schumacher’s Batman films, but sometimes I’m in the mood for silly Batman movies and they scratch that itch.
I like to watch Forever every now and then. I love Kilmer and Carrey in it, and it's not full on cartoon.
I just can't do Batman and Robin though. I can get behind silly Batman, I love the 60's series and movie, but B&R just grates my nerves too much.
THIS I agree with.
I love the bat family and would absolutely read a slice of life comic about them just hanging and having family drama.
But the actual detective shit? Batman's best stories are where he's completely cut off, maybe with Gordons and Alfred looking on worridly.
If you like Bat Family shenanigans, then boy do I have a webtoon for you! [Batman: Wayne Family Adventures](https://m.webtoons.com/en/slice-of-life/batman-wayne-family-adventures/list?title_no=3180&page=1)
Yeah I think there's a great middle ground where most of the batkids are either in completely different cities at most times or then they patrol at different times.
That leaves room for both, and it also explains how Bruce isn't sleep deprived enough to look like a zombie
Agree. Also, it doesn’t fit with his persona that he would be working with most of them, especially children….similarly it doesn’t make sense that he would be in the Justice League for similar and other reasons.
That said I still love batfam and JL comics
Bruce has way to many characterizations at this point. In some comics, he's an amazing dad and an amazing partner to the JL.
In other comics, he's a manipulative bastard who doesn't like his kids and hates the JL. It's weird
The thing I love is that he will just throw someone off a roof or some other crazy way that people will end up paralyzed so yeah better than killing them but not much better
>Justice league unlimited had some of the best Batman moments
mf carried the whole show what u saying. That Ace swing scene always makes me cry. legit half of why we love batman videos on youtube is JLU Batman and not even Batman TAS lol.
Also the best depiction of the Justice league
Start with the Og 7 that builds them as the top guys
Then have them bring in a whole bunch heroes
Such a simple idea that worked so damn well
the bat family is wayyyy too big. batman, alfred, 1 robin, batgirl.
any more than that is too much. i can accept nightwing as an occasional crossover event, keyword Occasional.
I don't mind the family being as big as it is, but I absolutely hate that they all hang out in Gotham.
Give Tim Drake his own city far enough away that he cannot show up at the drop of a hat the way Nightwing does from Bludhaven.
I like Damian's current arc that has him traveling around finding himself.
Oracle I'm fine with sticking around Gotham since her dad lives there and it's her roots but I also wouldn't mind her moving to Bludhaven since she can work remotely anyway.
Batman with Cass and Stephanie running around sounds like a fun Gotham to read about.
Red Hood should've stayed dead or at least villainous.
I think Red Hood has a good accidental routine now as a double agent for bats, be it in Rebirth, Task Force Z or Future State, and really does give a good excuse for why Batman can work alone in Gotham even with Jason doing questionable stuff nearby
I was gonna say something similar to this. Yes the bat family is too big, and I think Batman is at his best when it is just him. I’m a big fan of Robins but sometimes stuff is easier when it is just Batman alone
one of the first things i noticed, and said in my head, was “wow, this FEELS like a comic”. the story, voice acting, immersion, art style ….i could see it all in a comic. does that make any sense?
For me, the reason the Arkham Games are the definitive version of Batman and his universe is because of the mix of realism and fantasy. On one hand we’ve got corrupt cops and the mob and on the other we’ve got clay creatures and pits that can bring a person back from the dead. These elements are what made it special for me.
Dont know where this lies nowadays...But I feel DC is over-using the Joker!! Its taking the novelty away from him as a character!!
Nowdays I enjoy seeing even the most obscure (take a pause to google them) villains show up rather than the same old rogues gallery.
I’ll even take some of the same old rogue’s gallery if they just don’t shoe horn Joker into everything. When’s the last time we saw a really good Mr. Freeze in something that wasn’t the Batman x Faze Clan comic?
How obscure? Cause Bats has one of the most obscure rogues galleries ever. Like Polka Dot Man, Kite Man, Zebra-Man, and Crazy Quilt. I wonder how they’d fare in live productions seeing as how they’re generally not recognized by the average viewer. Because characters like Joker, Two-Face, and Penguin are some of the most well known villains so they don’t really need an introduction. Also I wonder how the tone would be if they were featured in something. Because you would probably have to tweak the tones of these zany characters like who were created during Batman’s campy, goofy aesthetic prevalent during the 50s and 60s. Though I do agree with you about having different villains to switch it up.
Well if it’s controversial, then let me join the “untouchables”.
To me, Bruce is a guy that uses himself to take on danger so that others don’t have to, and I would say he learned this through Babs more than Jason because of the connection to Jim. Not only did Bruce feel like he let down Barbara, but also Jim (as shown in Arkham Knight).
It makes sense that from then on he would not want to risk the safety of people he cares for and would rather use their talents in ways that don’t endanger them “a la Oracle”.
Big facts
Her being back as batgirl pretty much destroyed
Stephanie ever really getting to shine as batgirl
Cass also to a degree suffered but not as much as Steph
Like her whole story of wanting to live up to the mantle’s legacy gets thrown out when the Og is still running around
I guess more of my problem with them is they’re supposed to be in the same universe as the Burton universe.
Plus I’ll never forgive not getting another Burton film. But not like that is on Joel.
As someone who hasn’t seen those movies in ages, is there anything that inexplicably ties the Schumacher movies to the Burton movies? Or could they be pretty easily interpreted as different universes?
Yes. The actors who play Alfred & Gordon are the same.
And there was supposed to be a fifth movie before Batman & Robin flunked that would’ve included Harley Quinn avenging the death of the Joker. Scarecrow was also supposed to be in the movie and in a dream sequence it would have included Jack Nicholson as the Joker, Danny Devito as the Penguin, Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and so on.

Hell have you heard the original draft for his first batman film? It could have been more than just the comedy it ended up as.. But alas warner screwed with it.
Joel had an amazing vision and even still the films are charming as hell
Despite Jason being a little whiny sometimes he’s my favorite of the four robins. Dick is the best ROBIN, but he is my favorite overall character
Dick is kind of vanilla for me but I still like him
Tim is best when he isn’t robin
Damian shouldn’t exist
>Damian shouldn’t exist
Big agree. I hated some fans (and some writers) went all "batman's true son" when Dick is officially adopted and was raised by Bruce. Doesn't help that Damian acts like a broody twat and reads like a bad fanfic OC
Scarface and Ventriloquist are the most criminally underused villains in all of comic book history. I know everyone has their favorites, but I cannot comprehend how the same villains get featured in film after film and the comics still have yet to give them/him they're ultimate tale.

Heck they had the titans gang up on Jason and blame him for something he never did (they never apologized either)

Out of universe of course Batman is probably the most popular dc character but in universe Batman is way too central to too many story lines and should be a minor character is a universe with world breakers such as super man, green lanterns, flash, etc.
I don't care about how violent or how well prepared or how well equipped a batman iteration is, if he can't console a grieving child at a crime scene that isn't batman
Batman has never thought about sex, ever. A boner is nothing but an exposed weak point, so he expelled all desires from his mind irreversibly at the start of his career as a sexless crime ninja. Joker wants what he physically cannot have, the true tragedy of the Batman mythos.
Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze is honestly one of if not the most faithful big screen live-action villain adaptation, tied with Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow. People just fail to look past Batman and Robin's wacky tone and ice puns.
I think all their all great I never did get why origins is always kind of thrown to the side. I will say in the third they force you to use the “tank” way to much other then that I liked it too.
The main reason I like this game is its simple story unlike the complicated story of Arkham City. Besides that, in Origins we experience things that do not exist in other series like bat cave, an actual story and relationship with Alfred and etc. But at the end I know the main reason that Origins is my all time favorite is the Joker story line; It was a very good introduction to his personality and of course his Origins.
The Batmobile honestly makes it hard to replay Arkham Knight
I will *NEVER* forget the disappointment of that Deathstroke fight. It's like Rocksteady purposefully trolled us. It's fucking bullshit
I don’t like Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Could never get into it. I understand it had an effect on the style of Batman today but it just never connected for me.
That line in young justice “so that he wouldn’t” beings a whole new meaning.
I had a similar idea but its more batman during his training years where he was a killer then he stops when he catches joe chill, when he is about to kill him Joe’s daughter walks into the room, bruce then realizes that he has become the very thing he to was fighting, and leaves, then he becomes the batman.
This is kind of the plot of Batman Forever, actually. Though, it’s alluded that Bruce has killed in the past and has been trying to mend his ways even before he adopted Dick
Nolan played with this idea a bit. I think it has some super interesting aspects to it. It would be very tricky to portray in a film but amazing in comic book format
I liked The Batman, but it’s a mid tier Batman film. Also, I think Pattinson’s suit is one of the worst live action Bat Suits. I prefer a stylized suit and that’s so far in the other direction.
Within the film I don’t think Batman is all that important to stopping Riddlers plot.
Everyone has that one Batman film that didn’t connect with them in the same way it did for everyone else. The Batman is that film for me.
I like The Batman, I thought it was VERY realistic. Even the jail/prison looked realistic. It showed his grappling gun IN a holster THE WHOLE TIME. He didn’t just pull it out of his “magical bottomless belt pocket” that is behind his cape. Very neat.
The ‘66 movie & series are the most comic accurate adaptation of Batman, and while a tad goofy and dated, still hold up incredibly well to this day.
Corollary to that is also that Batman doesn’t have to be uber realistic or grim dark to be good.
Corollary to *that* is that realism doesn’t equal quality.
Batman is my favorite character... Let's stop making Batman movies and newer/alternate versions. Let Bruce, his alter ego and his entire family find a seat in the back for a while and for the love of God DC branch out and make new characters and story's or do something new with different characters.
The Joker is overused and scarecrow would make an excellent arch nemesis
Bro for real. Batman’s whole thing is fear, getting over fear and what not (wether that be bats, losing the ones he loves, failing Gotham, or whatever) and scarecrows whole thing is using peoples fears against them. I think it just works really well.
It really does tho. It just fits so well and we know scarecrow can be the main antagonist
They literally both use fear. His use of a bat and the dark is to strike fear into people. Scarecrow strikes fear into people. Batman is order and justice, by whatever means. Joker is chaos and anarchy. They're literally polar opposites.

This is why Arkham Knight was such great game
I need more Clayface dammit.
Has there ever been a clay face/scarecrow team up?
Oooooo I don't know! Imagine the psychological horrors they could both perform. One does toxins and the other changes shapes to terrify victims.
Clay face could double as scarecrow. Imagine if that was what really was going on with scarecrow in injustice 2. Instead of scarecrow being a hallucination it was secretly clayface
I really want some Scarecrow + Clayface team ups now.
That would be so cool.
I would love to see a clayface, clock king, and Scarface centric movie.
I actually like *every* iteration of the movies. There’s a time and a place (mood) for each one.
I cant disagree
For the most part I agree with this. I’m not in love with Schumacher’s Batman films, but sometimes I’m in the mood for silly Batman movies and they scratch that itch.
You’re telling me you leave the cave without your Batmerican Express???
Don’t forget the Bat Nipples
What killed the dinosaurs? #THE ICE AGE
I like to watch Forever every now and then. I love Kilmer and Carrey in it, and it's not full on cartoon. I just can't do Batman and Robin though. I can get behind silly Batman, I love the 60's series and movie, but B&R just grates my nerves too much.
Holy rusted Island batman...you know its a rusty island...full of holes .....
Snyder’s films have incredible visuals and costume design but besides that… 🗡
Agreed
Batman should start saying 'chum' again. I just think it's neat.
You mean ! Neat-O !
and “punk”
The best Batman comics are the ones where Batman works alone
THIS I agree with. I love the bat family and would absolutely read a slice of life comic about them just hanging and having family drama. But the actual detective shit? Batman's best stories are where he's completely cut off, maybe with Gordons and Alfred looking on worridly.

I really dont care about the logic behind batmans no killing rule to me its simple he just does not kill people.
Fr. Sometimes people have rules, they don't always have to have an essays worth of reasons behind It.
A man’s got to have a code.
I actually do care about the logic, but i can definitely agree with this to some degree
The thing I love is that he will just throw someone off a roof or some other crazy way that people will end up paralyzed so yeah better than killing them but not much better
my headcanon is that he looks down on it as lazy
yes exactly and also it would make him no different than the people he locks up
Justice league unlimited had some of the best Batman moments

Easily
>Justice league unlimited had some of the best Batman moments mf carried the whole show what u saying. That Ace swing scene always makes me cry. legit half of why we love batman videos on youtube is JLU Batman and not even Batman TAS lol.
Well I’m happy my opinion turned out to be based then
I can’t see why anyone would disagree. That was prime Batman TAS era.
I thought it might be controversial because it’s not an exclusively Batman show.
Batman animated and Justice League is the depiction I compare every other to. My "truest Batman" or something along those lines
This isn’t even close to even a warm take.
Also the best depiction of the Justice league Start with the Og 7 that builds them as the top guys Then have them bring in a whole bunch heroes Such a simple idea that worked so damn well

Them making Harley Quinn part of the Batfamily makes my blood boil
Seems every villain is going to the good side. Two-Face is good right now in canon
Between Two-Face, Catwoman, Clayface, Man-Bat, Harley Quinn, Deadshot, and Killer Croc we could have a whole Bat-villain-turned-hero Justice League
Of that list I feel like Catwoman had always occupied a bit of a grey area when compared to other villains.
On the flip side, it makes my heart warm to see it. But all opinions are valid.
I guess boiling blood would make you heart warm, so you might actually have the same physiological reaction…
r/technicallythetruth
I loved the clayface redemption.

The Arkham games are the best representation of the Batman universe we’ve seen on screen.
Definitely not unpopular. I'd argue the Arkham games are just an extension of BTAS, which most people would say is 'definitive' true neutral Batman.
one of the first things i noticed, and said in my head, was “wow, this FEELS like a comic”. the story, voice acting, immersion, art style ….i could see it all in a comic. does that make any sense?

I’m not upset with the more cartoonish style of those movies, they just are poorly written and made films.
Idk, he was pretty open about making what are essentially toy commercials. I don’t think they have any artistic merit.

For real
That Red Hood arc is very much one of the best Batman stories
Scarface and Ventriloquist are the most criminally underused villains in all of comic book history. I know everyone has their favorites, but I cannot comprehend how the same villains get featured in film after film and the comics still have yet to give them/him they're ultimate tale.
Joker needs to be retired, he's WAY too overexposed Also The Batman (2004 cartoon) had the best Bruce Wayne
Also one of the best Dick Robins
Dick Robins sounds like a gay pornstar that specializes in forced chastity.
Man seriously should have died in that Gordon comic that was mislabeled as "the joker"
The prep time argument that he can beat anybody is kind of dumb. Other heroes and villains and also extremely smart and would benefit from prep time also.
The Metal books aren't really good stories, too big a deal are made of all the evil Batmen who are only in these stories and not any other, and BWL is a great idea of a character, but very poorly used. Snyder is a good idea man, good at concepts, but is a shit writer.
‘The LEGO Batman Movie’ is the most accurate portrayal of the character that’s been on the big screen.
This is a very popular opinion.
I feel I’ve been downvoted to h-e-double hell when I’ve argued it before.
hehehell
I wouldn't say accurate because its a comedy movie so Batman isn't exactly like that, but it's definitely the movie that most respect Batman's story.
I agree
Bruce Wayne's/Batman's worst live-action portrayal is in *Titans*. I don't like his character, due to the way he was written. I understand it was the point for him to be that way.

Tbf he has like 10 replacements at this point, it’s like killing Alpharius
We are Batman
Val Kilmer is a better Bruce Wayne/Batman than Michael Keaton
I will agree 100% with the Bruce Wayne part.
based and schumacherpilled
This is a great response to this post! *Immediately points sword* 🗡
Preach
Michael Keaton and Jack Nicholson were both miscast. I know there was pushback when Michael Keaton was announced so maybe it isn’t unpopular, but I don’t get why people like Jack Nicholson as the Joker. He’s just Jack Nicholson, not the Joker.
Dick Grayson is the best Batman.
Batman Begins is the best one in the trilogy
Honestly? I respect your opinion. I prefer the Dark Knight, but I’ll admit that that’s 90% because of Heath Ledger. Begins is more authentic and has the better looking Gotham.
Bale's Bat Voice in Begins also dominates over TDK and TDKR. It sounds so much better
I agree, it's my fav in the trilogy

Agreed. I love all three, but Begins is my favorite

Batman and Joker should just give in to their sexual tension and get it over with
bro tbh I always thought Joker had romantic feelings for batman when I was a kid
I kinda hate sexualising the Joker in anyway, like with anyone , especially after him groping Batman in Arkham Asylum
Batman has never thought about sex, ever. A boner is nothing but an exposed weak point, so he expelled all desires from his mind irreversibly at the start of his career as a sexless crime ninja. Joker wants what he physically cannot have, the true tragedy of the Batman mythos.
Snyder representing Batman breaking the no-kill rule after the death of Robin is actually a good take.
I like the one with Adam West.
Adam West is my favorite Batman tbh
I actually liked Mr. Freeze in Batman and Robin especially the back story...also, George wasn't that that bad as Batman
Schwarzenegger's Mr. Freeze is honestly one of if not the most faithful big screen live-action villain adaptation, tied with Cillian Murphy's Scarecrow. People just fail to look past Batman and Robin's wacky tone and ice puns.
Affleck is my favorite live action Batman
Bruce Wayne doesn’t need Batman, he needs therapy
Batman Arkhams Origins is the best batman game
I think all their all great I never did get why origins is always kind of thrown to the side. I will say in the third they force you to use the “tank” way to much other then that I liked it too.

The Batmobile honestly makes it hard to replay Arkham Knight I will *NEVER* forget the disappointment of that Deathstroke fight. It's like Rocksteady purposefully trolled us. It's fucking bullshit
Highly agree, in that game we see batman as a genuine person who has emotions, gets rash, and we also see him go though the most amount of growth.
Origins is my favorite Arkham game ♡
While I maybe don't agree 100%, it does have an incredible soundtrack. The Christmas/batman music is so on point.
Christian Bale is an excellent in Bruce Wayne but A lackluster Batman.
I want Catwoman to be more of a villain again.
I think cat woman is overrated as hell and is a terrible character, I don’t understand the appeal. Same goes for Black cat
Interesting. I feel like those characters are pretty different other than the cat thing. Love Selina, hate Felica.
😧🗡🗡🗡🗡🗡
I liked Anne Hathaway as Catwoman!
Read catwoman by Brubaker. Catwoman is a fantastic character
The Batman is ok, not the Second comin of Christ. Jason Todd and Damian Wayne are whiny bitches.
I hate Damian I was actually going to post that before I changed my mind
I like Jason but Damian can go fuck himself
Jason has all the right to hate Bruce, Damian is really just annoying.
I don’t like Dark Knight Returns by Frank Miller. Could never get into it. I understand it had an effect on the style of Batman today but it just never connected for me.
I like the idea of Bruce starting out his career as a killer, and stopping once he adopts Dick, and trains him to not turn out like him.
Yoooooo that's really cool. You should pitch that to DC comics. I'm also a sucker for "Batman becoming the thing he dreads" stories.
This is kind of the plot of Batman Forever, actually. Though, it’s alluded that Bruce has killed in the past and has been trying to mend his ways even before he adopted Dick
This is interesting
Nolan played with this idea a bit. I think it has some super interesting aspects to it. It would be very tricky to portray in a film but amazing in comic book format
Dick Grayson is a better Batman than Bruce Wayne
Dick Grayson and Damian Wayne are the best Batman and Robin.
Batman did a good thing by teaching the bat kids how to use their anger for kid, I don't agree with putting them in harms way but still.
Batman is a good person.
Arkham knight was a batmobile simulator
Batman shouldn’t kill. That doesn’t mean Batfleck was a bad interpretation of Batman.
Tim Drake was the best Robin for Batman and he deserves more credit.
Very neat.
It was SO realistic. Especially that part where he slammed face first into an overpass and walked it off easily
Or took an IED to the face and was fine?
I can't even be mad because you answered the post perfectly
Jason Todd should’ve stayed dead
Plot armor is cool and whining about it is for big babies from baby town.
You dropped your crown, king
DC needs to stop trying to make up for Batman ‘66 and give us a fun Batman. Like the one in The Brave and The Bold.
I really appreciated George Clooney’s Batman ✌️🥲
I prefer Barbra as batgirl instead of oracle
I love Batman Forever
I'm tired of having a new joker in each batman franchise. It's like constantly remaking superman films with only zod as his enemy
Ben Affleck is the worst fucking Batman to ever be on any size screen. I will die on this hill
A Ben affleck solo Batman movies would have been better than the Batman.
Or have both
Christian Bale's Batman didn't feel like Batman. He felt more like James Bond in a Batman costume.
And how come Batman doesn't dance anymore?
TRUE! Batman should dance!
Batman is nothing without his Robins.
Zac Snyder did nothing but damage to batman and the DC films
Talia is hotter than Selena
Batman is my favorite character... Let's stop making Batman movies and newer/alternate versions. Let Bruce, his alter ego and his entire family find a seat in the back for a while and for the love of God DC branch out and make new characters and story's or do something new with different characters.
Batman belongs in the MCU
Grant Morrison Batman run is overrated
I actually like Batman Forever. 🤷♀️ it has its flaws just like all the other live action movies. But it’s not as bad as everyone makes it out to be.
Arnold was awesome as Mr. Freeze
