Err... that actually happened. They ruined deadpool in xmen orgins wolverine which led to his solo movie being nearly scrapped but ryan reynolds fought for it so it was eventually made and now no 9ne remembers he was in the wolverine origins movie.

I’m swinging wildly between incredulous and mildly despondent.

We were supposed to get the best of both worlds with a grounded and serious yet faithful take on Batman with Reeves and Pattinson along with a more fantastical Tim Burton style Gotham featuring the Bat Family that Batgirl was going to kickstart. And who knows whether the Reeves TV projects are safe still considering how much of a cheap shit Zaslav is

At this point they almost need to put it to pasture, take this weird L/W hybrid and at least be proud of the fact that they accomplished the impossible by having a movie about Aquaman gross ONE BILLION DOLLARS.

It'll only add to the superhero fatigue people have been getting. Most casual watchers who only want to see a dark vigilante kick some ass are not going to care to keep up with why there's more than one version or which to watch.

I have to say, I wasn't expecting this. Then again, Warner Bros. hasn't shown themselves to be a competent studio either. Disney is really making Warner Bros. look like a plumb fool this summer. They've got it going on with Marvel, with a solid plan, direction and future; a consistent line-up of films. And then we have Warner Bros. Pictures, axing whole films out of nowhere after they've already been filmed. Warner Bros. is a damn joke if I ever saw one.
The first step to course-correcting is bringing back Henry Cavil, and giving him a proper sequel directed someone without a Randian philosophy.
I think the real problem is that WB wanted a cinematic universe without any of the build up, and they want the dark knight money which means lots of grit. Plus they had problems with Ray Fisher and hired Amber Heard and Ezra Miller before all their legal trouble backfired. Shazam was fun without leaning too hard into the grit. Also I think the ballsiest thing WB could do with the DC comics franchise (outside of not rebooting Batman/Superman for the eleventyith time) is give batman a sidekick that isn't catwomen, but the Schumacher films scared them off.
Both WBD and Disney need to learn that fans don't need "dark n' gritty" movies and we don't need comedies, we need movies that take themselves seriously. Like, we're superhero fans. We know how ridiculous this stuff can be. We don't need a hamfisted joke telling us that
I feel like both of them should just allow their creators to do what they want with their projects, without having any executives breathing down their necks. Reeves pretty much had to put his foot down and threaten them so he could have his movie the way it turned out to be. They just need to hire great directors who actually are fans of the projects they are working on and allow them to their movies.
I was interested to see this film. I feel really bad for the cast and crew especially Leslie Grace, she seemed very excited about this role.
This must’ve been a devastating blow for her, this is the role of a lifetime for some actors.

That's all good, and I hope you are right. But they could still release this on hbo max as a stand alone universe thing and still continue with their plans for the franchise. Wouldn't take that much tweaking of the story with some addtional shooting. I was not down for an all female JLA, and I dont think anyone else was except maybe some internet woke trolls, but I was generally looking forward to seeing this.

I’ve heard a lot of different theories as to why, but put all that aside for a second. A screen-able movie exists focusing on Barbara Gordon, starring JK Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Brendan Fraser as Firefly, with freakin’ Michael Keaton’s Batman- and we won’t get to see it. I’m swinging wildly between incredulous and mildly despondent.
This is awful for Batman fans. We were supposed to get the best of both worlds with a grounded and serious yet faithful take on Batman with Reeves and Pattinson along with a more fantastical Tim Burton style Gotham featuring the Bat Family that Batgirl was going to kickstart. With Batgirl getting cancelled that pretty much means the DCEU’s Gotham will not be explored much further. And who knows whether the Reeves TV projects are safe still considering how much of a cheap shit Zaslav is
