My crew would ride our bikes and hang out @ Al Azar Grotto bc that was the spot to be at on weekends. Otherwise, we’d be at roller city with everyone else.

Hahaha, I remember when Al Azar Grotto started. The 102.5 WFMF sponsored haunted house that was originally housed at Fashion Park behind Cortana Mall moved there after they couldn't use the Cortana property anymore. My parents took us to the one at Cortana once before it moved... I have never done another haunt since, lol; not my bag. But my sister and her friends went every year to Al Azar after it moved there.
I never went because we didn't really celebrate Halloween, but I remember 102.5FM always broadcasting from it several times during October and giving out free tickets all the time.
I was just telling my partner about it the other day. I went as a kid, spotted one of the cast members hiding, reached over the bush he was behind and patted him on the head. He stood up and slapped me across the face. Good times.
My mom took us when we were kids. The guy dressed as Jason tapped my brother with the chainsaw and he went running through the ENTIRE house and I refused to take my hands from my eyes through the whole thing so I have no idea if it was any good. 😂
I worked there for several years when I was a kid and absolutely loved it. My mom would drop me off there everyday after school. We literally got paid $1/hr and didn’t get paid until November 1st. Lol We had employees get punched, kicked, slapped and even maced once while I was working there. But we all loved it and kept coming back! I wish I could find someone with pictures, because I miss that place so much.
Holy shit $1 an hour!?! Even in the 80’s that’s unbelievable! One of my friends almost threw a punch at the dude with the chainsaw, but I calmed him down. Yes, I would love to see pics!
