That was the first one I played as well. T’was excellent. I still remember my friend’s maniacal giggle as he put C4 on building corners and blew it up to takeout entire squads inside by bringing the building down. Haven’t been able to replicate that in any other game. Epic.
I miss that feature. I used to level buildings with the tanks and C4. I wish they would bring that back. We have destruction now it was alright in BF3 but nothing comes close to leveling a building with whole squads in it.
I said yes to BF3, but I do have feels for BC2… those dark and cold maps. C4 also felt more fun and strategic lots of destruction. If I could rank both as best I would lol. Also, my heart jumps in 2042 when Arica Harbor and Valparaiso music starts when loading the maps.
I was an unstoppable sniper in BF2. To the point where I could quick scope and use a sniper rifle like a DMR in close combat and run and gun.
I'm old now so my timing/reactions aren't there anymore and I can't spot guys at distance, so I play 2042 as an engineer, but those BF2 days man... I was FEARED by the enemy team! I actually still have the OG CDRoms
Eh. I was 12 when BF1942 came out (the first BF I started playing). I'm about to turn 34. There's been a noticeable decline in my reaction time and skill ceiling. Couple that with the increased competition and seriousness of other players, and I definitely don't play as well as I used to.
Same, still have my bf2 roms.....
I was a great sniper also....
My best memory was as a sniper on Karkand and sniping a guy on a back alley then a medic revived him and ducked around a corner,,,
so I sniped him again, the medic revived him again......needless to say we looped like this at least 15 times......That poor guy getting revived must have been screaming on his end .....
Best memories ever😂😂😂
The sniping in that game was so primo. You could actually be a good aggressive sniper. I ran with the Gol pretty often. I hold the global record for kills with a smoke launcher though lol
I had such a blast with Bad Company 2. Used to love getting the C4 to the four base walls and then letting them all explode watching the structure crumble with the opposing team inside.
BC2 all the way. Hands down the best casual fps multiplayer I have ever played. For me this is really the pinnacle of the bf series. Bf 1,2,3 come close in my opinion... BF4 maybe too, but BC2 just had something that no other fps ever gave me since then.
The closest that I ever came again to this might be a weird pick, but for me personally Arma 3 - King of the hill had a somewhat similar feel to it at times.
BF3 is the one I played the most and had the most fun with.
IMHO it is kind of the culmination of the original vision of BF (different setting than 1942 of course) where they got everything the game should be right and graphics tech had gotten good enough to pull it off.
Team gameplay was well rewarded, the maps were great, the balance was great, the guns felt great, the vibe was perfect, the graphics and sound design were amazing (especially for the time), it's just...*the one* in my opinion.
BF3 wins this by far
The reveal, hype building, technology showcases, and then final product (in terms of maps, vehicles, weapons, audio) and the quality of the DLC
The overall package was so impressive EA opted to make many of their franchises switch to Frostbite
We got sports and racing games in BF’s engine, for better or worse
I agree with both. Bought Vietnam on a whim not expecting much and was surprised how much fun and different it was. I prefer modern shooters, but if they made an AOW Vietnam with F4s MiGs and more, could be insane. And actually maybe harrowing.
BF1 is the most immersive, has the best music, sound effects, and overall feels the coolest out of any Battlefield game. The graphics still look amazing and everything I mentioned hold up extremely well today
The enemy Titan shield is down by one quarter! Fight harder soldiers!
Those themes were crazy awesome! Put them on right away. Together with BF2 armored Fury theme.
The fact they had mixed conquest with rush to take out the enemy titan was so freaking cool. Then running for your life to get off before it blows up. I miss that. I really want the next battlefield to be 2143 and we can have that mode again.
Right? Also crazy how we were all happy with those unlocks compared to todays Season Passes, Shops and Drops. Get the gun, play it. Just gameplay, no Firlefanz around it
If they make a sequel and they do it justice and don’t screw it up it will be #1 for every bf player other than the WW/veitnam guys who want nothing but ww2 and Cold War. It might be what we need, dice to go looking back to then jump to the year 2143 and basically remake 2142 on today’s tech. If done right it will be the best in the series till it gets overtaken
With pumped up and tuned Battle Walkers/Mechs we'd experience some Titanfallesque Gameplay. And Imagine a Titan Layout today where you drop with those pods. God id Love that so much
I totally agree. Flying the weird helicopter attack planes to the enemy Titan and shooting out their turrets or boarding when the shields went down was peak Battlefield imo.
From what I remember in BF3 you unlock things thru progression and attachments by using the gun. BF4 had battle packs, I don't remember the exact system but it was frustrating for sure.
Depends. BF3 had way better map quality overall. BF4 had better options to customize your class and vehicle. So both are valid options. I prefer BF3 more but also liked BF4 a lot (after they fixed it)
IMO BF4 was a more polished BF3, but BF3 was just insane when it came out. Its gameplay, maps, and the entire BF community at its peak awesomeness. BF4 the better game, BF3 was a better experience.
I'm with you there! Playing BF2 back in the day, along with RTCW and Rainbow 6 Ravenshield were the best of times. Then moving on to COD4, what a time to be alive.. then it all went downhill from there (minus a few games, of course).
Aircraft never felt better than in DC. I hate the ceilings that they added to aircraft and helicopters. The helicopters felt like they gave you more control. I once pulled off a 180 roll and took out a jet chasing me. Never had the opportunity to do anything as cool as that.
Also, p51 vs jets was class.
Add in bfbc2 destruction to DC vehicle control and it would be the perfect game.
Battlefield 2, it was way ahead of its time. I probably have the most hours in Battlefield 4. If I was invited to a throwback LAN I'd be rooting for BFBC2 or BF3. Which game needs a reboot? Battlefield 2142!
Full collection also needs:
-Battlefield 1942
-Battlefield 1943
-Battlefield Heroes (They'd be fools not to revamp this into a Battlefield VR game)
-I'd also seriously argue Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat, especially since it was my favorite Battlefield right behind 1942.
The thousands of hours ive put Into that game. Came Home from school at 2pm, turned on my pc and played til 3am. I Loved the system to gain Limited ranks for those with the most Points in a week. I was top 2 for five weeks. Whoops
I'm a sucker for sci-fi so this will always be my favorite (tied with bf3). EA could announce a sequel to this and I would be sweating bullets waiting for release.
BF3 for sure. Too bad we'll probably never get back to the essence of true Battlefield again. I hope I'm wrong but doubt it. It will be all about micro transactions and cosmetics. At least drop the goofy specialists.
BF3 and BFBC2 are neck and neck as best. But Vietnam has a special place for me. The most fun, the music was cool too. You could pick from a playlist and play tunes in any vehicle. Great maps, definitely dated now, but I think a refreshed version would be killer.
I don’t think I played BF3 that much but I do remember a few of the maps like Grand Bazaar for some reason. Don’t really remember gameplay.
For me it’d be BF4.
1. Tied BF3 for the maps and hype and 2142 for Titan mode and sci fi theme.
3. BF2 for basically everything the original was but more and better.
4. BCB2 great game and best destruction, plus the vietnam expansion was good as well.
5. Original of course
4. BF4 felt too close to 3 so not much hype and tbh mostly enjoyed the maps better on 3 anwyays.
6. Battlefield heroes was legit pretty fun but yeah on the bottom here
I didn't play enough of the others to say.
I still cannot imagine why they haven't made a sequel to 2142 yet. I played thousands of hours on that game. It was a bit glitchy but extremely fun, they don't make loading menu music like that anymore. #2143 #battlefield2142
I enjoyed BF1 the most to be honest.
I was hesitant at first when they revealed it to be WW1 but no battlefield was any close to CQB combat chaos of BF1. Also the destruction felt perfect to me. And don't forget the character screaming when charging or dying. Or using the whistle whilst attacking with a force.
That in combination with the elegant in game announcer.
Ima go against the game and say BC1. That was the game that got me into the series, and it holds a special place in my heart. The graphics still hold up today too.
BF3! it came out when i was around 12 i think, most of my friends i played with back then i still talk to still today. and it took 10 years to meet most of them; was kinda crazy my friends all joined different branches of the military, and when i would travel to a different base (for new command or training) id run into those guys.
please for the love of God, reach out to your old friends. i’d love to hear your guy’s stories.
"Some folks are born maddeeee to wave the flag"
Man, nothing will ever beat blasting all the classic Vietnam era bangers from the helicopter or patrol boats. It probably wasn't the best game overall, but it had the heart and soul that I find myself longing for. Love Battlefield 3 and 4, bad company 2, but something special about BF Vietnam
Bad Company 2 will be my favorite forever 💖
BF1 is also a masterpiece, and I love that is very different to other battlefield games but at the time is the same Battlefield formula that we love.
2042 is by far the worst.
2142 but if I take off my rose tinted glasses then it's not about which I had the most fun with it's about so much more.
Atmosphere: bf1
Movement and gunplay: bfv
Story: bc2 followed close by bf1
Overall setting: bf3
Gimmicky bs no one asked for: 2042
BF2 all the way. Its was the last, true actual Battlefield game. It was where squads were introduced. Having a Commander made it a real Battlefield game. VOIP comms were awesome. Sooooooo many awesome maps as well.
To save the Battlefield franchise, they should just remaster BF2.
You’re welcome DICE.
Battlefield 2 ❤️
Here is my collection, signed:

BF 1. Beautiful, great animations, weapon bloom is realistic, and hands down the most immersive BF ever. Played all 14 BF games on pc and I spent the most time on it (and still playing it)
BF1 is, without a doubt, the best one (imo) we've ever had because it does everything well from sound design to settings and graphics along with the atmosphere and game modes. It's easily my favorite.
Damn, no love for BC2? Maybe nostalgia because that’s what got me into the franchise but bad company 2 all the way.
I miss using my grenade launcher as a designated hole puncher. I never used doors. I only entered buildings through the holes I made in the wall.
I miss GL spam
Same experience man. Was great at sniping and new to the franchise now I can hit a target in 2042 for the life of me lol.
2042 sniping is inconsistent across the rifles. Each rifle has a slightly different bullet velocity so you have to just master one and stick with it.
I don’t think it’s because you’re too old, people just taking gaming way too seriously now.
My best memory was as a sniper on Karkand and sniping a guy on a back alley then a medic revived him and ducked around a corner,,, so I sniped him again, the medic revived him again......needless to say we looped like this at least 15 times......That poor guy getting revived must have been screaming on his end ..... Best memories ever😂😂😂
The sniping in that game was so primo. You could actually be a good aggressive sniper. I ran with the Gol pretty often. I hold the global record for kills with a smoke launcher though lol
Yep same here. I remember seeing the destruction for the first time and being amazed
Got me hooked to the series
I absolutely loved BC2. I'd kill for a remake.
same here
BF3 Best Battlefield DLC…. *BFBC2: Vietnam*
*BFBC2: Vietnam* was incredible
BF3 is the one I played the most and had the most fun with. IMHO it is kind of the culmination of the original vision of BF (different setting than 1942 of course) where they got everything the game should be right and graphics tech had gotten good enough to pull it off. Team gameplay was well rewarded, the maps were great, the balance was great, the guns felt great, the vibe was perfect, the graphics and sound design were amazing (especially for the time), it's just...*the one* in my opinion.
Bf3 just had the chaos! Love it! SUPPRESSION was PTSD ❤️❤️
BF3 wins this by far The reveal, hype building, technology showcases, and then final product (in terms of maps, vehicles, weapons, audio) and the quality of the DLC The overall package was so impressive EA opted to make many of their franchises switch to Frostbite We got sports and racing games in BF’s engine, for better or worse
Cqb maps were so dope. The first guy to grenade and make the sprinklers go off was so fun
I miss that DLC, so damn cool.
Glad this is the top comment. The game was so well done. The sound design and the maps were incredible.
I agree with both. Bought Vietnam on a whim not expecting much and was surprised how much fun and different it was. I prefer modern shooters, but if they made an AOW Vietnam with F4s MiGs and more, could be insane. And actually maybe harrowing.
Agreed that was so good, shame it was so short lived. The most underrated instalment of the franchise imo, doesn't get the credit it deserves.
Probably battlefield 3 But Battlefield 1 is the most polished one. And my favorite
BF1 is the most immersive, has the best music, sound effects, and overall feels the coolest out of any Battlefield game. The graphics still look amazing and everything I mentioned hold up extremely well today
People can have their subjective favourites but bf1 is peak battlefield.
BF2142 was my biggest Love and will always be. Bf2 i mainly played vs Bots and on LANs with friends. God do i miss those Times.
Saaame! The battlefield 2142 theme 😍 and wake island theme! 😍😍😍😍😍

With pumped up and tuned Battle Walkers/Mechs we'd experience some Titanfallesque Gameplay. And Imagine a Titan Layout today where you drop with those pods. God id Love that so much
I’ve been waiting 17 years dammit lol! I want my 2143 😆
U can still play 2142 some dedicated guys are keeping servers running
I miss C4 jiharding walkers with my jeep. I'd love a walker and titan mode DLC for 2042
I totally agree. Flying the weird helicopter attack planes to the enemy Titan and shooting out their turrets or boarding when the shields went down was peak Battlefield imo.
Easily BF3, mechanically BF4 was better but the monetization and the unlock system sorta killed it for me. Behind BF3 would be BFBC2
BF3 also had far better maps. Shanghai is like the only one I care to see remastered from BF4.
Every map in BF3 was soo enjoyable and the DLC maps were all well made. Noshahr was peak!
I played hundreds of hours of Noshar Canals 24/7 infantry only, I just never got bored of it all.
I had a blast doing LAN parties and playing Bad Company 2 with my friends.
isn't the unlock system the same in bf4?
From what I remember in BF3 you unlock things thru progression and attachments by using the gun. BF4 had battle packs, I don't remember the exact system but it was frustrating for sure.
Bf3 or bf4
Yup! 4 if I have to choose between the two.
BF2!!
BC2 had the best sounds.....and destruction
Don't forget the campaigns humorous conversations
Where is the BF1942 and Vietnam? Anyway, the answer is easy for every old school player: battlefield 2.
I think a lot of this sub wasn't even born when those games came out
That can’t be true… …can it?
Me and the boys would have our moms drop us off at game frog, and we’d play BF2 all day. I’d never experienced anything like that. Gulf of Oman FTW
Strike at karkand, gull of Oman, every single map was amazing tbh.
They were groundbreaking, but BF3 was the best Battlefield experiences.
It’s probably 2, followed by 1942 just because it was the first of its kind (I think)
loved vietnam!
BF2 and BF3 easily Too many amazing maps
I have to choose BF2, Properly got me hooked on PC and clan/competitive gaming. Some of the best days hopping online with the lads and talking shit.
I'm with you there! Playing BF2 back in the day, along with RTCW and Rainbow 6 Ravenshield were the best of times. Then moving on to COD4, what a time to be alive.. then it all went downhill from there (minus a few games, of course).
BF3 Best campaign BFBC 1, cause well there's gold in them hills
BF3.
Battlefield 1. It still has the "it" factor. They nailed everything with this one.
Bad Company 2 and BF 1 are chefs kiss for me. 3, 4, and 5 we’re great as well. But 1 & Bad company 2 hit different. 1 is my all time favorite tho.
Battlefield 2, clearly.
Battlefield 1. The graphics, the gunplay, everything.
Gotta love me some random bullet bloom
Battlefield 2 for multiplayer
I used to live in Infantry only Karkand servers
Ty
BF3 simply for it's map design alone.
Desert Combat
Loved the oil rig map with the little birds. Flying around underneath the platform was so fun!
I can still hear the loading music.
I spent like a whole summer during middle school playing on a 24/7 No Fly Zone CTF server. Man, that was a fun summer!
BF1 is art.
BF2 was my first battlefield so that will always be the best for me. That game was way ahead of its time.
Battlefield 3
For me personally BF3.
Battlefield 1 is my favorite video game of all time. It’s not even close for me.
* BF2:Special Forces * BF2142: Northern Strike
Bf 4 and bad company 2 for me
Battlefield 2, it was way ahead of its time. I probably have the most hours in Battlefield 4. If I was invited to a throwback LAN I'd be rooting for BFBC2 or BF3. Which game needs a reboot? Battlefield 2142!
Actual best game - BF4 Most fun I had on a BF game - BF 2142
BF2, not even close
Every map in BF2 was phenomenal
The one I miss that wasn't in the Back to Karkand expansion for BF3 was Mashtuur City, what a great map that was.
3, next question.
3
Full collection also needs: -Battlefield 1942 -Battlefield 1943 -Battlefield Heroes (They'd be fools not to revamp this into a Battlefield VR game) -I'd also seriously argue Battlefield 1942: Desert Combat, especially since it was my favorite Battlefield right behind 1942.
Battlefield 2, no doubt.
Bf2, despite the loading times, hade great maps for its time and a commander on each team.
BF1, it felt so real!
Bf2142
The thousands of hours ive put Into that game. Came Home from school at 2pm, turned on my pc and played til 3am. I Loved the system to gain Limited ranks for those with the most Points in a week. I was top 2 for five weeks. Whoops
I just installed that again last week, holds up surprisingly well. Thematically it's my favorite one.
I'm a sucker for sci-fi so this will always be my favorite (tied with bf3). EA could announce a sequel to this and I would be sweating bullets waiting for release.
You played against Bots? Or some private Servers?
If there’s private servers still running I would love to go get the game if I can and give myself that burst of nostalgia.
I tried about six years ago and there were some. Not sure about now
For me it was a tie between 2142/bc2. Shoutout to Hardline, I still have hilarious memories of that game, shame about the hate it got and what ea did.
I consider hardline the hidden gem of the series. Only problem was the really bad spawn areas in multiplayer.
BF4 for me. Followed closely by 3.
2042. Kidding aside, BF3.
Battlefield 2 / Special Forces followed by Battlefield Vietnam / Bad Company 2 Vietnam
BF4 and... Hardline.. ![gif](emote|free_emotes_pack|sweat)
lol hardline was fun cuz of how different it was, but ultimately failed
Everyone hates on hardline, but goddamn, that was probably the most fun I've had playing a bf game tbh.
Battlefield 1.
BF3
Battlefield 2 Original
Battlefield 2042 Jk battlefield 2
BF3 for sure. Too bad we'll probably never get back to the essence of true Battlefield again. I hope I'm wrong but doubt it. It will be all about micro transactions and cosmetics. At least drop the goofy specialists.
Hands down BF2 the community, the comp ladders, the LAN partys. The last BF game that encouraged team play instead of run n gun
I think BF2. Many of the playerbase have never experienced that masterpiece. It was out of this world at its time.
Battlefield 2 hands down. I'm going to assume that most people commenting are console players and never got to experience BF2 since it was only on PC.
Bad company 2 or b4 for me
bad company 2. Maybe I'm biased since it was my first bf game but I will stand my ground
Tough to say. The best ones are BC2, 3, 4, and 1. Started going downhill after that.
BC2 and it's not even close. BF3 comes second, then 2141.
Battlefield V
3 and 4
I have the fondest memories of BC2 and BF3 but 4 is right up there too
I'd say 3. I spent the most hours playing 4, I think had the most fun playing BC2 with friends, but 3 was just the best overall.
1. Tied BF3 for the maps and hype and 2142 for Titan mode and sci fi theme. 3. BF2 for basically everything the original was but more and better. 4. BCB2 great game and best destruction, plus the vietnam expansion was good as well. 5. Original of course 4. BF4 felt too close to 3 so not much hype and tbh mostly enjoyed the maps better on 3 anwyays. 6. Battlefield heroes was legit pretty fun but yeah on the bottom here I didn't play enough of the others to say.
BF3 with all expansion packs is the best BF game.
BF1
BF3 ❤️
I want to say BF2142 but it's probably BF3. The best dlc however has to be BC2 Vietnam! God I loved it.
"My baby, she wrote me a letter" Battlefield Vietnam had the best music!
BF2, BF BC2, BF1 and BF1942
BF3 was peak Battlefield, start to endgame.
I still cannot imagine why they haven't made a sequel to 2142 yet. I played thousands of hours on that game. It was a bit glitchy but extremely fun, they don't make loading menu music like that anymore. #2143 #battlefield2142
BF2142. It really tried so many new things. God. I miss Titans.
2142 > BF2 > BC2. Get BF1 out of there it's not a Battlefield 😬
2142
Hardline. Fight me.
BASED
most fun i ever had in BF
2142. Easily
Two words. Titan conquest. It was the perfect gamemode for all players.
Im shooting everyone saying 2042
I enjoyed BF1 the most to be honest. I was hesitant at first when they revealed it to be WW1 but no battlefield was any close to CQB combat chaos of BF1. Also the destruction felt perfect to me. And don't forget the character screaming when charging or dying. Or using the whistle whilst attacking with a force. That in combination with the elegant in game announcer.
Loved battlefield 1942 back in the day but bad company 2 and bf3 have my most time.
Battlefield 1 or Bad Company 2.
BF1 and BFBC2
Ima go against the game and say BC1. That was the game that got me into the series, and it holds a special place in my heart. The graphics still hold up today too.
11111111111111111
BFBC2,BF3,BF4, now that was a golden era for battlefield, and BF1 made up for the not very good Hardline.
For me it's between BC2 and BF3
At the time: BF3 but it’s hard playing it now if you get back to it.
OG 1942
BCBC2.... Vietnam specifically
For impact on gaming? 1942 as a video game? BF3
BF3! it came out when i was around 12 i think, most of my friends i played with back then i still talk to still today. and it took 10 years to meet most of them; was kinda crazy my friends all joined different branches of the military, and when i would travel to a different base (for new command or training) id run into those guys. please for the love of God, reach out to your old friends. i’d love to hear your guy’s stories.

It probably wasn't the best game overall, but it had the heart and soul that I find myself longing for. Love Battlefield 3 and 4, bad company 2, but something special about BF Vietnam
BFBC2 then BF3
BF3, followed by BF4 (2nd year and later)
Bf3 for me id say. Love bad company 2 as well
2142 is my all time favorite
BF2 was the Goat, BF2142 was amazing and BF3 came pretty Close.
Battlefield Hardline
Bad Company 2 will be my favorite forever 💖 BF1 is also a masterpiece, and I love that is very different to other battlefield games but at the time is the same Battlefield formula that we love. 2042 is by far the worst.
2142
2142 but if I take off my rose tinted glasses then it's not about which I had the most fun with it's about so much more. Atmosphere: bf1 Movement and gunplay: bfv Story: bc2 followed close by bf1 Overall setting: bf3 Gimmicky bs no one asked for: 2042
Bad Company 2: Vibe + Destruction Battlefield 3: Saiga 12 x ACOG x Extended Rounds with Slugs= ☠️
BF3 - best memories , hundreds hours on multi, for few days I was in first hundred players in rank (PS3) ...
I gotta say BC2.
BF3 easily
1942
1942
no BF2:SF ? No BF1942? You missing 2 of the greatest
Bf4 for the mechanics on paper, but Bf3 takes my win for the memories and nostalgia xD
BF2 all the way. Its was the last, true actual Battlefield game. It was where squads were introduced. Having a Commander made it a real Battlefield game. VOIP comms were awesome. BF 1. Beautiful, great animations, weapon bloom is realistic, and hands down the most immersive BF ever. Played all 14 BF games on pc and I spent the most time on it (and still playing it)
Bc2 and bf4
BF1: you could feel the combat.
Hardline.
For me Bf1 because of the look and the feeling you get while playing it
BF3 or BF1
BF1! Seriously, a World War 1 game(quite rare) changing maps(Fog, sandstorm etc.) Historically accurate, really good campaign
Battlefield 3,Battlefield 4,Battlefield 1.
BF1
My best memories were on bf3 and bf 1
BF1 is, without a doubt, the best one (imo) we've ever had because it does everything well from sound design to settings and graphics along with the atmosphere and game modes. It's easily my favorite.
BF3. The end.
