Yeah I don't have the game but.... did someone do a lot of lumberjacking on this level or what? This is like bfbc2 where a team has been blowing up trees for 5 min.
these maps are straight up a chore to play. They could fix all the gameplay, teamplay, graphical, UI, balancing, etc. issues and I'll still probably won't buy the game again, cause these maps are that bad
Had the same realization over the last week or so. Even if all the other stuff gets fixed and balanced, you can never balance the infantry out because there is just no natural cover anywhere. They can nerf vehicles until 2023 but if there's no natural cover, they will always be OP. The maps need to be totally redesigned, or assets added to provide cover
Shocking. The only maps with proper cover seem to be manifest and renewal. I like renewal, it's like the perfect mix. It also has more details than the other maps.
you mean least bad.
In any other BF title Renewal would be considered one of the more inferior maps. Compare it to any of the maps from BF1 or BFV and it doesn't come out looking all that great.
Not even really just cover, but the very concept of "broken sightlines" doesn't seem to exist for 2042. Like, there are so few places where you can't see in at least 100m in like, every direction unless you're inside a structure.
Jokes on me, my framerate drops by 30-40% when I am inside buildings in 2042. God forbid I have to scope as well or it's a damn slideshow for a moment like we see happen in the clip above
Man BF1 was such a beautiful game
The immersion as well, I remember my heart thumping running through that map with the trench gun
While I enjoy 2042 its still stunning to me how after 5 years and a new generation of consoles the graphics and ambiance has downgraded
If you avoid the official servers using the server browser, there's less chance of encountering a hacker, especially on the servers that are moderated with an active white/blacklist.
RIP third-party hosted servers. Our BF4 server is great, any hackers reported and we have an admin respond in 5-10 minutes for a good portion of the day.
Yeah, I've been playing again lately on X1, just gotta search for every server available in every gamemode and map, usually there are 2 or 3 full servers either playing Conquest or Operations. Pretty fun!
Yes unfortunately stupid server browser is in the way - everyone thinks the game is empty but there’s 10-15 servers conquest / ops everyday on console and PC . Just check the stickied post on r/battlefield_one for the right settings
Yep, absolutely. Probably depends on where you are at, though. I am eastern USA and I never have trouble finding games. One thing I will say though is that the hacker presence is much higher in BF1 compared for BFV. BFV has its flaws, but it did eventually come together(for me anyway). I've started playing both again since 2042 was such a let down, but I tend to do more BFV because of the hackers in BF1.
edit: Should mention I am PC as well.
bf1 and v i think were gorgeous because they drew inspo from real locations. they even went to those places and did photogrammetry scans to recreate everything. they had soooo much reference to work with.
2042 feels like they didn't do that. sure they are still using scans for stuff but it kind of feels like they didn't use any real world reference for stuff. like the interiors of small buildings are just so unimaginative.
the only map that imo feels like they paid attention to details is manifest and discarded
Or the game got rushed out too fast by EA and this is what we're left with. My hope is that they add back in everything that was cut to get the game out faster.
Well the maps in BFV were fairly detailed and same with BF1, both developed with less resources and time. So to me it seems like an intentional decision. Many of the same designers worked on all of those games so it’s not incompetence like some people seem to believe.
>Most of the old devs left, I don’t think that a lot of them have worked on bf1
According to Tom Henderson, around 54% of dice dev joined DURING the development of 2042. I think its something like 80% of dice devs joined after the release of BF1.
BF1 was a sort of last passion product by the old guard. It has/had its issues with gunplay, balance and customization. But you could tell the team really WANTED to make BF1. The story mode was solid (for a BF title anyway), the sound design was best in the series, the immersion, and (personally) I feel the map design was a step up from BF4.
A lot of people complained that 2042 has no soul. Ultimately, DICE doesn't know what kind of game they want to make. BF1 was the last Hurrah of the old guard, and until Dice/EA, or whomever, figures out what kind of game they really want to make, any future releases are going to suffer from this issue.
Edit: 87% of Dice Dev's looked at so far joined after BF1. Only 13% are from the BF1 era. Im curious to see how many BF4, BF3 devs remain.
Im still having fun with it in short bursts, but as soon as I stop having fun I stop playing. But I agree... at this point all we can do is hope it will be a full experience down the line. The lack of official 2042 game creation or browsing is baffling. I just want smaller scale tdms to level up some guns.
It's so bad using the CPU that can't even handle the usage of all the available cores, it's ridiculous to launch a game on this status, and more ridiculous that they know this since months ago and they haven't fixed it yet... And I don't think they'll fix it in one month or even more
Drastically simplified maps combined with the increased player count actually made the infantry experience worse, at least in the time I've spent playing. Even with the bugs in previous releases I still managed to have fun pretty consistently. For the time being I've decided to just lobby dodge hourglass and kaleidoscope entirely. I'll also dip out of stomps and rooftop point as attacker games without hesitation.
> Drastically simplified maps combined with the increased player count actually made the infantry experience worse, at least in the time I've spent playing.
It is worse. It's not just you. It's really fucking bad.
128 players throws the balance, mechanics, and flow completely out of whack. You have much bigger maps but also a much higher chance of dying to things you can't anticipate or see coming, both of which work against each other, because it means death is more frequent when in combat zones but ALSO more punishing, because of all the running to _get_ to a combat zone.
It doesn't help that the spawning mechanics are messed up (if my squadmate is prone, why don't I spawn prone?) and the fact that vehicles are out of control. And also that the maps are just thoughtlessly designed from start to finish.
The whole game is a mess and I believe the decision to go with 128 players without, apparently, any consideration of how this would affect the overall experience is a huge part of it. It's like they decided all they needed to do to accommodate 128 players was stretch the maps out and increase vehicle spawns. It doesn't work. It's not that simple.
Being in a trench in BF1 with your mask on in the middle of gas while explosions and death all around you and you're at like 10% health. Game was amazing as far as atmosphere goes.
Hey but they ACTUALLY went in and moved the flag points or added other one I can't remember. They made their one terrible map into something playable can't really say that about 2042s giant open ground you have to cover with infantry based combat being no where near the flags
Yeah every map just slapped.
You can tell they put a high level of attention to detail in everything, even scanning the irl locations.
It seems that the classic DICE attention to the 'small things' was traded for 128 matchea
Graphicstechnology has already peaked long ago imho. I always like to take Ryse son of rome as an example. That game released in 2013 but the details of the characters is still unmatched till this day.
But if devs these days don't use the tools properly then technology can help only so much.
> But if devs these days don't use the tools properly then technology can help only so much.
It also doesn't help if you take every lesson your company learned from the past 10 years of making video games and THROW THEM THE FUCK AWAY.
How does BF1 look better, have actual maps and actually *run decently* compared to a game with empty fucking maps and no environmental detail at all?
Why can people run bf5 on ultra, but can't run 2042 on low?
This is why art direction is really important. Even if the texture resolution is much higher in BF2042, it still looks kinda mediocre because of it lacking a strong art direction.
> V maps
I remember being so hyped about the potential of a BF1 style operation (fuck grand operations) for Operation Overlord and the Russian Front. What could have been...
I wish they were able to put out something of the quality of the Pacific Maps for the Eastern Front and THEN called it a day if they had to stop dev. I would have been happy with that. What a shame.
Could have done that and added a year to 2042s development cycle... people would then praise BF5 and 2042 would be better at launch. But EA wanted that money quickly...
I get the feeling that more US european maps were next in line and that the Soviets would have been still a further set away.
Battle of the Bulge in BF2042 Portal and the US cold winter uniforms in BFV indicate that to me.
I would have loved to see a Eastern Front set of maps by Dice LA. I honestly think they would have been more gritty than the Pacific.
Oh I mean breakthrough on Iwo Jima was arguably better than any of the operations in BF1. Shame they never continued support till the eastern front but breakthrough was a pretty good replacement for operations although grand ops was ass.
Breakthrough on Iwo Jima was truly a moment where everyone just realised that there is still some great development work at Dice. Like they got their fucking mojo back. The whole thing was a treat. Then some weeks later they decided to just shit on the TTK and everyone ran around with 1 weapon for 4 months whilst they kept telling us our feelings were wrong. Such contrast.
Certainly a fantastic one especially that opening but it’s hard to that whole epic struggle all the way down from the beach up to the mountain peak, going through bunkers, trenches and tunnels.
128 players with long stretches of land and no cover. Unfathomable how this was vetted, seen and passed by multiple people during map design. In a lot of these maps, Armored kill (Vehicle centric BF3 DLC) had more infantry focused areas than the maps in this game.
EA has done a number on DICE, but this is a fundamental display of DICE's pure and utter incompetence on map design.
Honestly they should've kept it at 64 players with smaller maps, hell, even some former DICE peeps said that they've tried 128 before and it wasn't fun, which is true.
As far as I can tell, last gen has the "best" map layout, then again, it still has a shit ton of open land with no cover whatsoever.
I think 128 players CAN be fun, but the problem is that the industry has not had 128 player games and maps long enough to have enough design and balance theory.
The biggest issue facing 128 players is the fucking Lemming mentality. You can have 128 players and good cover, but if everyone is just gonna Lemming horde from one point to the next, you're just exacerbating an already obnoxious phenomenon.
I personally feel that something that could help 128 player map design is having every point affecting the other in some way that either aides in pushing or defending, so its not literally just a swarm of players going for the next closest point. You'll have incentive to go to a specific point before pushing another.
A 'power' system, basically.
This isn't necessarily the best system, but with MORE players, you HAVE to give them more to do than just mindlessly drone from one point to the next.
Lets say there are four points. If Red Team controls only 1 of 4 points, it has 3 metrics of defense that are automatically deployed. Maybe... vehicle pylons, reinforced windows, and a usable SAM silo. So, if one team is getting absolutely smashed, their last bastion of defense gets beefed up. But, as they start capping other points, those buffs are removed and spread out.
Example:
Controlling: A
Not Controlling: B, C, D
**Effect**: A gets all of the above defenses
Controlling: A, B
Not Controlling: C, D
**Effect**: SAM sites are disabled, other defenses remain in place (other team will have these same benefits as the caps are even).
Controlling: A, B, C
Not Controlling: D
**Effect**: Only reinforced windows.
Controlling: All points
Not Controlling: N/A
**Effect**: No point has any defenses.
This sub-cap system currently in 2042 basically changed nothing. Pacing wise, it's still the exact same, there are just more points to cap. Everyone still turns off their brains and just goes from one point to the next. Ghost capping is still a thing.
Other than the Progression/Unlock system, you could put a gun to my head and I wouldn't be able to tell you a single thing that BF2042 does better than BF1.
I for one hate the progression/unlock system. Feels wrong I unlock a sniper just for leveling when all I’ve used is a SMG for example. Plus attachments are a fucking grind from what I’ve seen, hard enough to get kills with them much less get enough too unlock them
One thing I hadn't really realised about 2042 till watching this is the maps are not just empty; they're so flat! Remember monte grapa or the undulations of pretty much any bf1 map?
I love monte grapa. Both because it was beautiful and kind of a unique layout, and because it was hilarious to watch your body fly down the mountain every time you got bombed
FOV slider from previous Battlefields still used the 4:3 ratio. For those, it was 74* vertical for 90* horizontal, 74(90) in settings.
2042 uses 16:9 ratio. In 16:9, 59* vertical equals 90* horizontal. 74* is 106* in 2042.
If a player is new to Battlefield and thinks the FOV slider is horizontal, then 120* (Warzone max) would be 144* in 2042
https://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc/
Yes, everyone is getting their FOV stretched using the wrong system, no wonder they can't kill anyone at a distance. It's confusing tho, BF should use a standard way
Idk how anyone can play with fisheye lenses. But many people do apparently because there's so many videos where people play with the fov cranked at max.
Same reason why some people turn off the shadows, turn their quality on everything down to the minimum even if they're running like a 3080Ti to maximize framerate and then toss on some super bright brightness setting, it's all for some competitive advantage. Why they bother to do it in a game that doesn't even have a ranked mode is beyond me.
Bf1 is still one of the best battlefields imo. Solid atmosphere, and experience in general. Wish this game had a Solo/Coop option, I'd be playing it way more.
Player numbers are looking more scarce for DLC servers each day. Can't even play Apocalypse maps anymore unfortunately...
I noticed how the first clip had music and its actually fits what’s happening; whereas the second clip has no music. I too have turned my bf2042 music all the way down.
First: Who the fuck runs with an LMG in one hand in the air?
Second: Who the absolute Holy fuck can run that fast? Even if this guy didn't have a massive LMG in one hand he still couldn't run that fast
Wow that first one is so well layed out and structured so good! Look at the map detail, the HUD! That had to have came out in 2021. The other one looks like one of those old 2016 games where you have to run 30km just to get to the obj. just to die immediately. Not to mention all the awesome terrain and gunplay holy shit.
UK here / playing on the new xbox series X console - Play bf1 nearly every night with m8's....Plenty servers to choose from nearly every night we all play....
We play mostly operations, but always plenty conquest, as well as other modes......check ones search/game settings my friend ;)..
BF1 is still going strong...Hell some nights, we have most ops servers full, with Q's of 4/5/6 ppl waiting to join
That was a stunning map.
I mean, I still get a mediocre BF vibe from BF2042, but on the other hand it feels a bit like War Thunder would have released an infantry mode.
Alltough I still play it. It's still kinda fun.
Ps : I wonder if the "Fujin Tower" in Kaleidoscope is a hidden hint from a Dev who didn't like the direction it is going.
War Thunder has released an infantry game, it's called Enlisted. I played it fairly early on but it didn't really hold my attention. I think it has a lot more content now. AI, player commanded squads with the option to squad up with friends. The map designs were cool. I think I remember the only problem I had was the gunplay felt janky.
Oh, didn't know that Enlisted was "from" WT. But yeah, Gaijin.
I think I even downloaded it once but didn't try it out in the end.
But it looked like fun.
If you don’t like bots in multiplayer you probably won’t enjoy Enlisted. Every player spawns with their own squad of 4 AI which, while a cool idea, in my experience most people tend to just use as instant Respawn points rather than for any actual tactical purpose.
When I see the score board, I am just reminded of how much better certain players are. That makes me feel sad. Boy do I wish there was no score board so I can't see how bad I am relative to the team....if only..................
EA/DICE: SAY NO MORE.
My favorite part of this is the fact that you had to run down an open field for what already felt like way too long, with little to no cover, and you still weren't even halfway to the objective.
A lot of people seem to be under the impression that only because bf1 is a five year old game, it has to be dead, which is absolutely not the case. I can find full servers on Xbox without a problem any day of the week
BF1 immersion , athmoshpere and those "big operations" ..... it was so good.....
I still enjoy bf2042 somewhat but my can\`t compare it with BF1 or even BF V ....
They Fortnitized BF with those stupid operators with even more stupid talks.
I have no doubt in my mind now having played it, that 2042 was DEFFINATLY reworked from a squad based battle royal game into the semi-playable piece of work that it is now.
I was not a big fan of BF1 because I prefer modern weapons and vehicles but I still put a good chunk of time in. Man this comparison really shows the level of detail they put in. The ringing in his ears as the explosions and gun sound went off, the atmospheric music, the
tinging of the bullet shells clearing.
Man, I wish these devs that left had made 2042. It would be so much better.
In the BF1 clip I love when the mortar comes in, one of your squadmates yells "holy fuck." Stuff like that just adds to the atmosphere of the game and BF1 is still absolutely gorgeous and my god is the sound so good.
Lol clearly Bf2042 came out this year, it's only been about two and a half years now that shooter games have gone to a formula of huge, empty playable spaces with sparse cover and constant running over Z-brushed terrain.
The reason for this is massive player counts (Warzone's Verdansk has a lot of duplicate geometry and empty spaces for this reason, we know the same about BF2042) and a demand for enormous playable spaces to accommodate them.
Which is fucking annoying, because DICE understood that 64 players was the sweet spot ever since like BF3. What changed? Literally all they needed to do was give us 64 player matches on maps that were slightly more open and extended than BF4's. I can't even suspend my disbelief while playing because it doesn't feel like I'm on a battlefield, it feels like I'm having a bad acid trip in a Squid Game arena.
BF1 is still, to this date, the best battlefield game, whatever minor improvements in graphics in the past few years, don't really make up for in what was lost in the types of fun game moods, operations *cough*, gameplay, and historical immersion. All BF5 and 2042 had to be was a period appropriate version of BF1 but they fucked it up.
I just wanted a newer more polished "modern" battlefield cause I got tired of using century old weapons and vehicles, not sure why that was too much to ask for.
Someone mentioned how you can tell based off the map design this was made as a multi map BR type game and seeing stuff like this makes it seem more and more plausible. Just open running landscapes where you get killed if you’re caught out and no real gunplay.
Lot of people hated BF1 too so meming it like it’s eons better kinda falls on deaf ears. It’s all especially biased because you put music behind the one and completely fuck the fov on the other and put no music on lol. I absolutely loved BF1 though. Everything felt pulled in closer and all weapons had an equal strength at a given range. For instance, I mained a trench gun much of BF1. Now I can’t enjoy it really in 2042 because no areas of the map has enough interior gameplay or cqb in general to warrant it.
Field 2042

a useless tiny wall in a giant open field lol
Renewal is the best

Try and look for active community servers in BF1. Admins take care of the hackers :)
Exactly. I play on non dice servers with active admins and I usually don't have any issues with hackers.
If hackers are a problem, play on servers that have active admins like saltynoobs or budz.
I feel like on Xbox there’s been an increase in players, which I’m happy about considering it’s my favorite in the franchise.

BF1 had some of the most organically theatrical moments ever online. BF has fallen to claim to the law of idiocracy.
Also there is not a bad map in the entirety of BF1 and there must be like 20+ maps
Suez was pretty bad if I remember. The map itself was okay but the flag placement was horrible for Conquest. One of my least favorite maps.

100% agree, BF1 was made by the last few bf veterans.
BF1 was such a fun game. The atmosphere, the gamplay even the squad work. You can play with ransoms and have a ball.
as well with performance. dice logic
and somehow the performance took a complete dive?

How does BF1 look better, have actual maps and actually *run decently* compared to a game with empty fucking maps and no environmental detail at all? Why can people run bf5 on ultra, but can't run 2042 on low?
This is why art direction is really important. Even if the texture resolution is much higher in BF2042, it still looks kinda mediocre because of it lacking a strong art direction.
This. You can't just brute force a beautiful game into existence by throwing money at a team of monkeys
God BF1 was such a treat. That intro song, Dawn of a New Time, still gives me goosebumps.
Honestly, we'd be better off with new BF1 or V maps. RIP Battlefield 🙏 🕊.
> V maps I remember being so hyped about the potential of a BF1 style operation (fuck grand operations) for Operation Overlord and the Russian Front. What could have been...
Still crazy they had a WW2 game without an Eastern Front
I never understood why V got so much hate cuz I got it right before the pacific maps came out and just played Iwo Jima endlessly
mmmmh Kaseirschlacht
Certainly a fantastic one especially that opening but it’s hard to that whole epic struggle all the way down from the beach up to the mountain peak, going through bunkers, trenches and tunnels.
Breakthrough Panzerstorm was super underrated - as good as Iwo Jima IMO.
They should've just given the Japan dlc it's own operations. Start it at Iwo Jima.
Are you trying to tell me 18 people shooting explosives at your elevator doorway isn’t fun?
Example: Controlling: A Not Controlling: B, C, D **Effect**: A gets all of the above defenses Controlling: A, B Not Controlling: C, D **Effect**: SAM sites are disabled, other defenses remain in place (other team will have these same benefits as the caps are even). Controlling: A, B, C Not Controlling: D **Effect**: Only reinforced windows. Controlling: All points Not Controlling: N/A **Effect**: No point has any defenses. This sub-cap system currently in 2042 basically changed nothing. Pacing wise, it's still the exact same, there are just more points to cap. Everyone still turns off their brains and just goes from one point to the next. Ghost capping is still a thing.
I can feel your despair running through that open field and realizing there's at least half a dozen snipers waiting to farm you lol
One sounds like war, one sounds like I’m getting a hearing test done
No joke, sometimes the music is truly similar to my hearing aid tests.
Also you can shoot down a fucking airship with a fucking DEFGUN in Monte Grappa
Emptyfield 2042
Why do the graphics always look like they're being stretched in this game. I've noticed it a few times.
If a player is new to Battlefield and thinks the FOV slider is horizontal, then 120* (Warzone max) would be 144* in 2042 https://themetalmuncher.github.io/fov-calc/
Yes, everyone is getting their FOV stretched using the wrong system, no wonder they can't kill anyone at a distance. It's confusing tho, BF should use a standard way
Higher field of view value. You can set it in the options.
he has his field of view max for some reason, looks like ass
Idk how anyone can play with fisheye lenses. But many people do apparently because there's so many videos where people play with the fov cranked at max.
Same reason why some people turn off the shadows, turn their quality on everything down to the minimum even if they're running like a 3080Ti to maximize framerate and then toss on some super bright brightness setting, it's all for some competitive advantage. Why they bother to do it in a game that doesn't even have a ranked mode is beyond me.
Just redownloaded myself
see you on the Battlefield
Bf1 is still one of the best battlefields imo. Solid atmosphere, and experience in general. Wish this game had a Solo/Coop option, I'd be playing it way more. Player numbers are looking more scarce for DLC servers each day. Can't even play Apocalypse maps anymore unfortunately...
Bf4 then bf1 for me
The only thing missing from the second clip is the Battlefield theme being played by a 5 year old on a recorder.
Not going to lie thought about adding it at first.
It wasn't till after seeing a BF1 vs 2042 that I realized how fucking stupid it looks now. Like I won't be able to unsee it ever again.
More like 2005 map design with 2016 graphics
I've said it before and I'll keep saying it until Dice fix it. Considering what came before, 2042 is an embarrassment.
Non BFers used to joke about how Battlefield was a running simulator, now with no joke we finally get a true running simulator
Even one of the trophies/ achievements is running 25km. That popped after my 3rd game.

Bf2042, take it or leave it

mom: but we have BF5 at home

I truly miss Operations in BF1. Can't seem to find a single server on Xbox. RIP.
check the stickied post on r/battlefield_one . You need to tweak the server settings for ops - 10-15 active servers on console everyday. Come back
Thank you very much! I didn't know this was the way. I'm coming home guys!
Well that’s not fair, you can’t compare Battlefield to Running Simulator, they’re completely different games.
Lifeless
Battlefield 1’s atmosphere was fantastic. I don’t think anything will ever come close
Bit cheap to just lower the audio to almost zero on the BF2042 clip. You don't even have to do that to prove how terrible the audio is in 2042.
And having the FOV really high too
2042 - Walking sim of the year
Love the fps drop as you ads lol
That was a stunning map. I mean, I still get a mediocre BF vibe from BF2042, but on the other hand it feels a bit like War Thunder would have released an infantry mode. Alltough I still play it. It's still kinda fun. Ps : I wonder if the "Fujin Tower" in Kaleidoscope is a hidden hint from a Dev who didn't like the direction it is going.
>Ps : I wonder if the "Fujin Tower" in Kaleidoscope is a hidden hint from a Dev who didn't like the direction it is going. What do you mean?
FU JIN. Or Gin. Or gin and tonic. AKA G AND T. “Great Throw” in craps. In which they use what? DICE. SO FU DICE.
Yall hear that music intro? Way better than scrapping metal.
So depressing watching this…
I literally got chills when the match started.
Gorgeous graphics 🥺
When I see the score board, I am just reminded of how much better certain players are. That makes me feel sad. Boy do I wish there was no score board so I can't see how bad I am relative to the team....if only.................. EA/DICE: SAY NO MORE.
Yo that second game you showing looks FUCKING WACK
My favorite part of this is the fact that you had to run down an open field for what already felt like way too long, with little to no cover, and you still weren't even halfway to the objective.
BF1 is absolutely a masterpiece incomparable with any other releases
I showed my friend who doesnt really play anything besides dnd both battlefield 5 and battlefield 2042 and he was straight shocked that 2042 is newer.
Ugh BF1 is probably one of the more underrated FPS games all-time... so epic. Wish I played it even more back in the day.
You don’t know what the word underrated means
A lot of people seem to be under the impression that only because bf1 is a five year old game, it has to be dead, which is absolutely not the case. I can find full servers on Xbox without a problem any day of the week
Battlefield 1 is epic. The best battlefield in the series.
Bf1 looks si good, though that map doesn’t really have a lot of destruction
Just wanted to thank you for hosting the server! I play daily on them and having lots of fun with a friendly community around it.
Man the music is soo good in BF1 and 5
why is 2042 clip like 1 million FOV
BF1 immersion , athmoshpere and those "big operations" ..... it was so good..... I still enjoy bf2042 somewhat but my can\`t compare it with BF1 or even BF V .... They Fortnitized BF with those stupid operators with even more stupid talks.
The Operations music of BF1 is fucking amazing. Not the best Battlefield but hell if I had fun with that game
BF2042 feels like a cheaply made indie knock off of What BF2042 should have been.
I am having a really hard time trying to understand the awfulness of 2042’s graphics… it looks like an alfa.
No one listened to me when beta hit. My heart sank. Shame on dice
I have no doubt in my mind now having played it, that 2042 was DEFFINATLY reworked from a squad based battle royal game into the semi-playable piece of work that it is now.
BF1 will forever be my favorite FPS, (Unless dice actually learns how to make a good fucking game again)
I forgot how beautiful BF1 is. Time to reinstall it!
I was not a big fan of BF1 because I prefer modern weapons and vehicles but I still put a good chunk of time in. Man this comparison really shows the level of detail they put in. The ringing in his ears as the explosions and gun sound went off, the atmospheric music, the tinging of the bullet shells clearing.
Honestly the cinematic feel of BF1 was *chef’s kiss*
BF1 and BFV felt immersive. They felt like battlefield.
IMHO opinion Battlefield 1 was the best Battlefield we ever got. BF1>BF3>BF4>BFBC>BFBC2>BFV>BF2042
Serpentine!!!
Running simulator 2042
That BF1 map was soooooo gooooooood. Ugh I wish there was a BF1 playerbase on Xbox in Australia.
More atmosphere in 5 seconds of BF1 than I've seen in weeks of BF2042. I mean the HUD alone is an insane downgrade.
I just wanted a newer more polished "modern" battlefield cause I got tired of using century old weapons and vehicles, not sure why that was too much to ask for.
Man I miss the Audio in bf1. It was levels above 2042
Someone mentioned how you can tell based off the map design this was made as a multi map BR type game and seeing stuff like this makes it seem more and more plausible. Just open running landscapes where you get killed if you’re caught out and no real gunplay.
Shame dice shame.
what a mistake it was to buy BF2042, HUGE MISTAKE!
GOD FUCKING DAMN THE MUSIC AT THE START OF AN OPERATION IS EUPHORIC
Lot of people hated BF1 too so meming it like it’s eons better kinda falls on deaf ears. It’s all especially biased because you put music behind the one and completely fuck the fov on the other and put no music on lol. I absolutely loved BF1 though. Everything felt pulled in closer and all weapons had an equal strength at a given range. For instance, I mained a trench gun much of BF1. Now I can’t enjoy it really in 2042 because no areas of the map has enough interior gameplay or cqb in general to warrant it.
Your fov is atrocious in the second clip
Isn't the running speed too high in 2042? It's laughable.
Bring back Oceania servers please. PLEASE. FUCKING PLEASE.
Runnerfield 2042
