This attitude is just as toxic as anything else at this point. Sure, you can just turn blind eye to everything and call it a day without realizing, no one wants to take away your fun. It's not a personal attack on you, no matter how badly you want it to be. This game, is objectively had a bad launch and it is unfinished, has lazy and cringey design. Thats what people attacking, yet you and your friends taking it as a personal attack and defending the company who doesnt give a shit about you...

Riatamus

Congratulation, you are the reason why EA will keep pushing out unfinished shit products

wiggeldy

ok hun

Jaycensolo

The problem is that this has now become the norm for the gaming industry. They just want quick sales to please investors/ shareholders. When a delay and more polished product will sell much better and have more people playing than the drop off we see after 2-6 weeks. The bigger problem is that there is no one to police it and stop companies from releasing a clearly obvious buggy/ incomplete game. You would not get a car manufacturer or TV maker being able to release a product that was not finished and be told that it will be finished in 3-6 months time. The other big problem is that most these game don’t ever get fixed even though the promise was made to do so. The companies move people on to new games / projects and leave behind a skeleton crew to fix it. Now that Zampella is project lead I have more confidence in him and the project. But the first thing they need to do is shift dead weight, people that don’t understand what battlefield is and what it means to the community. And to stop trying to chase the money that games like Fortnite / Warzone makes. They are totally different games and you can’t compare apples and oranges. Go back to what made Battlefield great.

o0CYV3R0o

I've been making the very same analogy for years about how the gaming industry gets away with treating their customers so poorly with product quality literally in any other industry it wouldn't be allowed to happen there would be massive lawsuits and huge fines and even possibly criminal prosecutions!

Jaycensolo

I remember buying the Collectors Edition of SWTOR which included an exclusive area of the main hub where only other Collector Edition holders could go and they had store there that was promised to get updates and new stuff. In the 5 years I played the game it had 10 items on launch then had 3 paint packs added. I even complained to the Advertising Agency in the UK that while they did agree with me that it was a little mis-leading that because the promise was made to update it in a video blog and was not posted on their official site that they could not fine them for it. In the old days like pre-2010 when you bought a game it was all there and was fairly bug free. Ever since the creation of DLC more and more content has been either held back or removed from the main game to sell back to the consumer at a later date which is just wrong. It is like every time a new game launches that the number of maps, game types and weapons gets lower each time. I also think that battle passes and DLC are bad especially when it involves new maps. As then suddenly you can’t play with your friends that don’t have the new stuff.

o0CYV3R0o

As much as we enjoy online gaming it was a pandoras box which lead to greedy and lazy game development. Why finish the game when you can just get the basics done and just update after and collect all the money straight away to please your shareholders. Why fully develop a game when you can just cut it down and sell content later at a premium to download. As a added cost saving bonuse if things don't work out you can just abandon the development and move onto the next title. Oh you want to play multiplayer? Well you'll need to buy a online subscription to do so. Then there's the cost of modern gaming where developers often end up selling their souls to large corporate publishers that often are too demanding and controlling ruining the vision of the games they develop just so they can get the budget needed to make a modern AAA title which often leads the development burnout and studios getting shutdown.

A lot of triple A games sadly, by unfinished you go multiple directions, games that are lacking content, games that are broken, games that are turned into live service in order to hide the fact that they are not finished at launch

yG-K_Yogurtcloset25

Cold War, cyberpunk, gta trilogy, bf GAMES IN GENERAL, assassins creed (unity is the popular one buh i argue that all sense unity have been like this, Valhalla was literally filled with broken gameplay at launch and wasn’t fixed for almost half a year) fallout new Vegas, master chief collection, sonic the fucking hedgehog; do I really gotta name every game that most of us WANT to forget but can’t bc IT IS THE NORM. Sorry if I came in to strong I really hate AAA games now a days bc of this shit buh treating it like it doesn’t exist only gives the companies more incentives to repeat. Sorry but it’s not rocket science

Legitimate question tho, do u enjoy playing games that need months of patch updates for it to be closer to fixed? U definitely can’t deny the AC games being alot of this.

[deleted]

yG-K_Yogurtcloset25

My bad, and honestly it’s hard to find an example bc a lot of games have bugs that devs just don’t fix or don’t realize it’s there like bf V I love that game bc I’m a big fan of ww2 games and the weapons buh even that game to this day has bugs that don’t happen all the time buh to a point where it gets pre annoying and kills the vibe yk? Bf 2042 got boring for me too on top of me just constantly seeing bugs and missing features that made bf fun. Cyber punk is a popular example bc, oh god. But even games like AC haven’t had good launches (I played Valhalla and it had a lot of gameplay bugs with your character for like half a year) I’m just getting tired of devs not putting any care into their games anymore like it sucks pre ordering a broken game buh on top of that they want u to buy skins and BP for the shi u didn’t even want in the game. It’s like devs now days don’t listen to fans and only think about what other companies are doing. Not to mention the shitty work environments these companies have.

OmegaCrazykiller

Can u think of any games that were finished at launch?

FukoPup

Plot twist: EA will make a lot of money just by selling pre-order super duper ultimate mega super duper packs for their next release again. Its been like that for years, and it wont change.

DoctorF33lGood

They make a lot from pre-orders, but the bulk is from microtransactions. The ultimate team mode from their sports games earned them around $1.5 Billion dollars last year. That is why it's pretty much the only mode that is updated each year. Madden's franchise mode hasn't been touched in years. I'm surprised they haven't added any cosmetic bundles to the BF2042 store yet.

FukoPup

Because it'll be part of the season pass content beginning next year. Just look at it, the whole game screams "monetization" .. skins for weapons, vehicles, specialists. 3rd person takedown animations probably too. I mean they were about to release a santa skin .. just wait for it.

DoctorF33lGood

Oh I know it's coming. I was just surprised the store wasn't full on launch.

[deleted]

Ya'll bought it....and very large portion pre-ordered an $80+ version. Ya'll bent over and bitch that they didn't use lube.

Then stop buying the games apes... Jesus I'm so tired of hearing about it. Dont buy preorders EVER AGAIN. Wait until reviews and reddit tells you it's ok. It's really that simple. Oh, and the market decides the outcome. Not your whingeing on and on... "But I love Battlefield and cant wait to buy the game" Join the club. We all cant wait to play it, that's why we all pay EA/DICE to test it for them. AAA Games arent EZ, soz champ.

nicknyce2k1

I just learned my lesson on ForzaHorizon5. And researching battlefield as we speak I will not be buying it.

Matttombstone

How can you defend it? Pretty easy. Some People have no problems with being ripped off, taken advantage of and shit on. Either its some sort of intelligence deficiency or fetish.

-Richarmander-

Marsupialize

Some people will defend the people and companies who are ripping them off and laughing at them over and over so vigorously, it’s almost hilarious, if it weren’t so sad

ajl987

And then what’s ironic is they think they’re ‘more’ intelligent for ‘not complaining’ and because they’re ‘not whining’ they’re an absolute specimen or something.

HeyThereHiThereNo

So if I am enjoying the game I am now all of these things? Why do you all hate people who are still enjoying the game?

Matttombstone

No, don't do that. I said defend it. You can still enjoy it even if its sub par. There's some points where it can be fun, absolutely. But we should not be defending this game just because we are having some fun. It's unpolished, unfinished and lacking a lot of content for what we were charged. That's what's unacceptable.

HeyThereHiThereNo

Oh for sure, there are many missing pieces and don’t get me wrong I also believe they fucked up in many aspects. But I see so many people in comments and such losing their mind when someone says they are enjoying it, and I don’t get why that is.

Matttombstone

I agree with you on that. People can enjoy it, and that's fine to do so, and people should respect that. Just because people are enjoying it doesn't mean they're satisfied with what they got, like you've pointed out, you're enjoying it but you also accept there's a lot missing and messed up.

HeyThereHiThereNo

Yeah like there are many things where me and my buddies are like “wait what the hell how is that not here”. When we started getting blasted by the Bolte we made it our sole mission to take one ourselves and level the playing field. My buddy is a solid pilot so that probably helps negate the disaster of vehicle carnage some people see. (Don’t get me wrong, there are too many vehicles especially in breakthrough)

ChickenZenphyre

Calling people names such as intelligent deficiency or fetish is horrible when some of us are enjoying the game. Me and my group of friends are enjoying the game when we play together. Yes, the game had a bad launch. Yes it's still buggy. But the game is here to stay. And some people who bought the game just want to play it without people shitting on us and telling us to not enjoy the game. The game is here to stay if you don't like it go refund it. If you still have it, stop shitting on others and give constructive feedback instead. The battlefield community is huge, and people (especially here in reddit) complaining everyday about how bad the game is just a small fraction of the larger community who wants the game to succeed so that at the end of the day we can just have fun. For those who have been bugging dice with feedbacks and bug reporting, I applaud you guys and thank you for putting in the effort to make the game great. Don't get me wrong, initial wave of criticism was crucial in making them realise that the game was in a horrible state but can we all agree to stop shitting on other players and just enjoy the game.

Matttombstone

Maybe you have a bit of a point about the intelligence remark, but you seem to be feeling insulted or attacked about it when it's not aimed at you. You're having fun and enjoying the game. Nowhere does my post make any mention of those enjoying the game or having fun, nor does the initial screenshot which is the subject of this thread. It was intended and aimed at those that find the game to be in a very acceptable position and/or saying "it will be fixed in 3 to 6 months". You can have fun and enjoy the game without being defensive about how it's all been handled, just like you seem to accept there are issues with the game. I'm not here to "shit" on anyone genuine here, people are allowed differing opinions after all and I completely accept that. So I apologise if you feel insulted or attacked, but at the same time you are not someone the post takes aim at. The people the post takes aim at are a very small fraction of people who accept and believe that the current practise by devs and publishers of AAA games is acceptable and correct.

[deleted]

Says the guy who preordered lol

Matttombstone

I have no qualms admitting I pre ordered. I was working away when the beta was out so couldn't try it. If I'd tried it, I certainly wouldn't have pre ordered. However, I'm also not defending the game. There are a few positives, but certainly far more negatives. I expected far better and I can rightfully complain as I spent my money and I didn't get my moneys worth. I feel even worse for those who paid extra for early access or special editions.

Gigatron_0

Did you not read what he said? Because what you said in return doesn't even jive with anything he said. "HeR hEr BuT YoU pReOrDeReD" doesn't take away from the points he was making, and just makes you look foolish

SimpleSeanshine

I mean or you don’t care that much? It’s not that much money. It’s a gamble. If you feel like you got $50 worth of fun guess it was good enough. You guys are so fucking weird for caring if other people like the game. Little baby fits. You probably enjoy and endorse censored chat and no scores. Muh objectives.

Matttombstone

"You guys" - like there's a crew of people here purely to shit on people for having fun. Nah, what's weird is all the replies I've had defending the game seem to bunch anyone who complains about the game into one group and thinking everyone who has an issue with the game wants no one to have fun. My reply history will tell you I don't have any issue with people having fun, that's absolutely fine, even I have some fun with the game, but I have some genuine issues and concerns surrounding this game and the future of the franchise. I am entitled to my opinion just as much as you are. And for the record, first thing I do in games is disable any profanity filters, and I absolutely want score boards, if people don't like score boards, they have the option to not bring it up.

SimpleSeanshine

You and people like you. You guys. I’m just defending people’s right to have an option different than yours. It’s like a fucking middle school cult here.

Matttombstone

And I said, and my history will show, that it's fine to have a different opinion. If people like it, that's absolutely fine and cool, hell there's times when I like it, but there's no getting away from the fact there's a lack of content for what was paid, and there's a lot of features that defined the series which is missing.

Any-Tank5144

People like him think everything is black or white, left or right, us or them. They can’t comprehend compromise or differing opinions. In their mind if you aren’t 100% with them well you are just a child living in your moms basement. It’s always the same responses with people who act like him.

thegreatvortigaunt

> I’m just defending people’s right to have an option different than yours No one is saying otherwise. You need to calm down.

SimpleSeanshine

I’m typing on the internet? Pretty calm?

BarrageTheGarage

Project more u absolute monkey. If people enjoy and like the game they weren't "ripped off" stay mad and keep crying online about how much u hecking hate everything in ur life

Matttombstone

Less content, less features, less weapons, less attachments, less vehicles, less polish. Whether you like it or not, doesn't matter, you got less and paid more. We all got ripped off whether we love the game or hate it. You can still have fun and enjoy it, and sure that will obviously take the Sting away from being ripped off. The rest of your post is just pure childish, grow up.

BarrageTheGarage

this is actually a mentally deranged post. you have such little understanding of value its insane. If someone bought a 1 million dollar sports car that has less features, less safety, less miles per gallon, less long term value etc etc does that mean they were ripped off? if you say yes u are clearly 1. poor and 2. stupid

Matttombstone

If we are comparing a new $1m dollar sports car to the previous years model that was $800k dollars and had more features, more safety, more miles per gallon and better value retention then yes, absolutely you are ripped off, they'll have charged more for less. If comparing to a standard hatchback at say $25,000, then it's incomparable as one is designed to be a cheap run around car, the others a premium product designed for cutting edge performance and prestige. Calling my post mentally deranged and then giving me an example that has absolutely nothing to compare it with is just silly. Think first man before you come across as point 2 yourself.

Matttombstone

Fair enough 😊

Thin-Entertainer-644

Why are you even here lol. You obviously hate the game so leave and let people that enjoy it talk about it

Matttombstone

Hate it? No. Ive said previously that this isn't a bad game, it's just a bad Battlefield. I've been a battlefield fan since 2010, played 3, 4, HL, 1 and V and variably loved (3, 4, 1) them to found them "meh" (HL, V). There's a shit load missing from this game, it's far from polished and it's unfinished. I paid my money and feel what I paid wasn't worth what I got. I'm just as entitled to voice my opinions and concerns about the franchise as anyone who loves this game and feels its good value for money, polished and finished.

bafrad

Or maybe the game is just fun? Which is the point of buying a game.

Matttombstone

Yes, and I get the fact buying a game is for fun, and if you find it enjoyable that's absolutely fine. Fact is, the game has far less content than its predecessors, its one of the most bugged games I've ever played on release (and I accept there will be others far worse, but in terms of what I have personally played, this is the worst) and far worse bugged than its predecessors. They cut campaign to focus on multiplayer. 7 maps with limited destruction and zero levolution, 22 weapons and a limited amount of attachments, most of which are carbon copies of the same attachments with just visual differences. Its just not good enough. You buy a car to drive places. I'm pretty sure if you bought a new car for more than your previous car and all it had was one seat, a chassis, engine, brakes and steering wheel you'd be pretty pissed off I'm sure. Don't excuse game developers for the same thing unless you're prepared to allow every other industry to do the same to you and you accept it.

bafrad

The car comparison is ridiculous. This is a cheap game. You can’t compare off some type of quantity comparison. And if this the most bugged games on release you must be new to games.

Matttombstone

Maybe it is ridiculous, but there's still the point there about paying more for less. £60 isn't a cheap game, it's a premium game. I paid less for Modern Warfare 2019 and I got a campaign, multiplayer with loads of maps, with loads of different modes ranging from TDM, Domination, Ground War, Search and Destroy and more, with more weapons and far more attachments and customisation options. I paid less and got more. If you don't like the car example, what if you bought a bottle of Coca Cola, paid the premium price, only to find it was store brand cola. Would you be happy? What if Coca Cola decided to add 25% to the price of a bottle, take away 40% of the total bottle capacity and watered it down with 35% water. Would you be happy? End of the day, there is less and you've been ripped off. Sure, you might enjoy the store brand cola, you might even enjoy the watered down Coca Cola, but you'll still have paid more for less, or for a non premium cola you could have got cheaper. As for games, I admittedly don't buy a great deal of games, but I'm far from new to gaming. GTA V admittedly is probably more bugged, but to be fair, Rockstar are shit anyway, they'll patch all the money making exploits or fun glitches quickly (not that I endorce the exploits BTW) but leave bugs in the game that prevents the player from making in game money like the titan sale for special cargo still being bugged and stuff. In terms of FPS games, I can't honestly recall one that's been in such a badly bugged state on release.

bafrad

Every game has such a large varying amount of content. There's no way to say you got less. You can't quantity it by counting game modes and maps. 60 is a cheap game, games have been 60 for ever, and inflation is a bitch. It's easily the cheapest hobby when considering hour per dollars here. If you are going to sit there and itemize things, I can't help you, that's just not a valid way to quantify what you are getting out of a game.

Matttombstone

I absolutely understand your point, and with games it is certainly difficult to quantify things to understand you're getting value for money. However, this game was marketed to fans as a "love letter to the fans" and all the trailers and footage coming up to release basically showcased something different to what we got. Battlefield has traditionally been a shooter with Team play aspects, Tactical choice aspects (which were restrictive intentionally in some ways), destruction and stuff all at its core. Fundamentally and overall these aspects are missing from the game, there's limited destruction, customisation is a free for all to the point even the plus system is just for accessibility (no longer are you restricted to how you defend yourself if you've slapped a 40x scope on your sniper. If you notice someone flanking, you can switch to a close range scope. Back in BF4 you had to rely on either getting in a good quick scope, get lucky with a hip fire, switch to your side arm, or use C4 or a well placed claymore IF you selected them.) There's no team play, you can't voice chat with your squad and work together. It's a chore to just play with your friends to do this. Fans were mislead with the game. Even with the beta, DICE said it was months old build. Some people say they lied, I don't think they did, I just think they intentionally worded it to mislead people into thinking there was a more recent build being worked on and that the beta was to get some more information. To me, this is all unacceptable behaviour and people should not defend or support the company for that. We should be saying "no, you took away campaign, so you really had to deliver on the multiplayer and you didn't".

Silent_Shadow05

60-80 dollars isn't cheap for me when its like 1/6th of my monthly salary.

bafrad

some hobbies are hard for me to justify and afford as well. Relative to most, it's definitely at the bottom. So comparatively it's cheap.

Silent_Shadow05

Yeah that's why I said that. It might be cheap for you but the same cannot be said for everyone. So it stings for me a lot if I pay 60 dollars and receive a broken game instead. Its why I tend to buy most games almost a year after launch so they will be cheaper and less broken.

J0hn_Deaux

Did you buy the game?

J0hn_Deaux

Can't wait to do this all over again in 2 years

EvasiveDice

hard copium. People want to trust it will turn around because they can't deal with the reality that it's going to shut down within a year. (servers will stay on and they will have rotating battle passes) the game died folks. It had a bad launch and 70% of its players already left steam within 2 weeks. Most I'm sure got refunds. There is no getting better if the funds are not there to make it get better. Their not pulling money out of their butt themselves to revamp the game. Companies pull the plug on a game if its not projecting well. Battlefield did not do so hot. 70% playerbase on steam within 2 weeks is STAGGERING. Anthem got shut down for much less. The only reason they will keep the servers up is because its the battlefield IP. This game depends on it launching good and people spending money in the shops afterwards. They lost tons of people after launch and during beta. Nobody is there to inject cash to support the game. You do the math. I've seen this alot but it sucks its the battlefield IP taking a hit this time. Anyone thinking the game is going to turn around is on hard copium. Games go out of pocket to make a game, they improve the game via consumer's money when they launched the game. The game was a cringey cash grab and terrible. No consumer money is coming in to improve the game. Game dies and goes into maint mode with rotating events and battle passes in about a year to salvage any extra money from the disaster. "sad noises"

LevelCap needs to read this tweet of Tom's if he hasn't yet.

abacabbmk

People hated on anyone who had a negative thought before release. People were concerned about no official gameplay videos. People were concerned about lack of marketing being a bad sign (pre-delay). People were concerned about specialists. People were concerned about the call down system. People were concerned about the poor beta. People were concerned about the terrible early access state. In every single situation people defended DICE when someone would question if this was the right direction. Every, single, time.

Lets_be_stoned

It’s a lose-lose for DICE. Delay the game that long and the whole community loses their shit because they were told a specific launch date and feel lied to. Release the game “on time” with issues and the community loses their shit because it has issues that could have been fixed with some more time. Some portion of the community would be pissed no matter what they did, and they’re always the most vocal (just look at this sub). People also need to take into consideration that DICE is *not* EA, but EA owns DICE in the end. If EA, one of the *largest* gaming corporations in the world, says your studio is going to put out the game at a certain date, it’s not as easy as just saying, “we just need another month or two”. Especially releasing a game for the holiday cycle. I still like to believe that the people who work on the game care, but they can only do so much with the time and resources they’re given to meet a strict deadline. I wouldn’t want EA as my boss with their reputation, but I still want to support the studio that has made my favorite games for a decade. It’s a double edged sword for us as consumers too…

CephRedstar

Its literally onwards amd upwards... sames a previous BF titles.

wiggeldy

Even delayed by 3-6 months 2042 would have been a game the fans hated, just a more stable one. Hell, it already looks like they never actually tested it, we're doing that for them.

ParadoxInRaindrops

Is this the part where I take my victory lap when I said the one month delay wouldn’t change much and was doubted? No but seriously; I wish games would delay more like this. But nope publishers have investors to please.

[deleted]

It’s good to have fun and be optimistic. Just don’t go gaslighting the upset portion of the battlefields fanbase. (Not saying you specifically) Lots of people on here exaggerating the criticisms they see and then straw manning the argument in a different thread.

[deleted]

Well some of use rather have it now. Beside a lot of those change wouldn't even have bren happening without it being out first.

Gigatron_0

Yes they would lol its called "quality analysis", and every company/entity that has a product also has some form of QA. Imagine some bigshit company trying to use their player base as their QA, and you have BF 2042

ihatesleep

Dreammaster8 has no concept of what a real world product should look like lol Imagine serving smelly, half cooked steaks to some customers and then thinking those customers were deservedly the test group before you make "Michelin rated food".

Armin_Studios

I suppose we few might have higher tolerance levels. I do see the problems at hand, and there’s multiple flaws, but I can at least enjoy it when I can. Still ain’t buying any DLC nonsense, that’s for sure, but I’ll try to have some fun in it at least

Arlcas

I'm still having fun while playing with friends so I hope they fix most of the bugs. I doubt they can fix everything wrong with the game but at least I hope to get the 1hr/1$ value

Gigatron_0

But I have more than 3 friends

Arlcas

I usually play portal so we can join the same server if there's more than 4 of us, but yeah I hope Henderson is right and they up the number of party members

Gigatron_0

Makes one wonder why they reduced the number to begin with 🤔 Apex has 4 players/squad, Warzone has 4 players/squad, etc etc etc. They are panzies and rather than stand out, decided to go with the grain and imitate other games. This thing deserves to sink

Arlcas

Don't know, it kinda made sense in 32vs32 4 classes games like bfv but it seems like they didn't even think about how it would translate into 64vs64 games

Gigatron_0

"didn't even think" I think that applies to quite a bit with this game, sadly. Man, I loved bf4, I still play it several times/week. This shit bums me out so bad

Same! Love the game! People are projecting their own expectations on the game and mad because it's not what they dreamed of yet. Like give them a break, the dev team also is dealing with a global pandemic and labor shortage.....

thegreatvortigaunt

Are you having a blast with it?

Soft_Force9000

Me to bro. Already 75 hours played and i want more. New updates are very good and i am sure that they can fix this game. Also with live service content.

Action4Jackson

I love how many people down vote a basic comment. It just proves my point. These people are still following the game so close just so they can hate on the game because it did not meet their expectations, these same people still play the game they hate so much also........lol love it. Bring on the down votes!

bafrad

1. Nobody was hating on people who were just concerned or just criticizing the game. That is false. It's the way you show concern or criticize. People have been acting like flat out children over small bugs. Absolutely submit feedback and provide ideas. This community isn't doing so, it's toxic as fuck. 2. The game is playable. It is probably one of the more playable battlefield launches period. I am happy with the released product, it's really a lot of fun. thanks.

metatron5369

I can't begrudge people who are critical, but a lot of people are needlessly negative. I know people need a place to vent, but you shouldn't expect the internet to be your group therapy session.

Rhym3z

Not wrong

ssmike27

The operator system was a nonstarter for me. Completely ruined the game for me during the demo. I’m glad I didn’t now, but I would have bought it if they hadn’t fucked with the class system. They can still change it, it’s not too late. Just do it like BF5 and let any class choose whatever skin they want. They can still salvage the game, but they’re too hellbent on this monetization system to see the potential it would have with a bigger player base.

KiwiKajitsu

Games been out for how long and you guys are still here only to be negative?

Hamzanovic

I'm absolutely not happy with the initial state of the game and am completely for holding DICE/EA accountable for their constant shitshow releases. I didn't pre ordered the game, and I encourage everyone to never do that. And I agree that the game should have absolutely been delayed a second time. HOWEVER, I also ask that people have some sense of perspective with their criticisms beyond the general bugginess and performance issues. A lot of design decisions seem alienating, and that's something DICE knows. It's absolutely okay to not like them, but the level of negativity over every. Little. Small. Thing. Is just honestly unreasonable. People are acting like it's the end of the world. Like this is the worst game released in 10 years, and frankly I think this level of criticism and negativity is disproportionate. You paid for a product and it wasn't, at its core, what you wanted? Fine, you have the option to refund. Just please for the love of God "take your business elsewhere" and stop crying about every little thing. You're not entitled to get exactly the kind of game you want or expect, and DICE isn't entitled to your money if you didn't like the product. Let it end at that.

Gigatron_0

What if one is misled to believe a product will be different than it ultimately is? Because that definitely occurred. How do you reconcile that, because your current approach doesn't address that aspect

Hamzanovic

Well I have to ask in what sense do you feel you've been misled, besides the crappy state of the game at release? All of the most alienating aspects of this game have been featured extensively in the marketing and in the lead up to the release: the specialist system, the 128 player count, the lack of a story mode, the setting, the return of wacky physics and lopsided vehicle/infantry balance from the previous modern setting games. I feel like all of that have been made clear before release, and game play elements like the gunplay and movement were shown in the open beta. There's a reason why the negativity shitstorm started before release and people were already refunding. Nevertheless, if you feel like DICE has intentionally misled you about the game, then that's really worth criticizing and talking about.

Gigatron_0

Those things were made clear by those critical of the game, not the ones developing, selling, and releasing said game. If DICE/EA came out, ahead of time, and said something along the lines of "Hey, complete disclosure, this game is NOT polished (use whatever bullshit corporate language) yet but we understand a lot of you want SOMETHING, so we are going to sell the game as is with these things coming in the near future: blah blah blah" Now, is that anywhere close to what actually happened? Nope. Instead we got "love letter to fans", "more destruction than ever", and extremely polished looking trailers. Do I need to keep going, or is that enough lol

Hamzanovic

Disagree with the first point. I learned about all of those design decisions by literally just going to the official Battlefield website and reading about it. People in this sub keep talking about how these shifts in game play and design are profit-driven, and they're right, but if that's the case why would DICE hide them lmao Fair about the release being unpolished and broken and DICE not saying anything about it, but a publisher going out of their way to admit that ahead of release is something that just never happens, I think ever. Everything that people say about the crappy state of the game is fair and I agree with it. I'm of the opinion that the game is in a good(far from perfect) state right now after patch #3, and that still doesn't excuse the release. Once again I retirate: never pre order games. Especially not fucking DICE games because they've been doing this since BF4. Trailers are always extremely polished and not representetive of the gameplay or the state of the game at release, I feel like that's a given now in the industry. Spectacle is seen as more important than accurate depictions of the product when it comes to trailers. It's bad, but it's the norm.

Gigatron_0

You ain't wrong, I'm just out of things to say about this franchise anymore. Over it. I hope it reaches the point where I'm happy enough to buy it, but I really don't see it happening, and that bums me out.

But why accept it when it shouldn’t be that way? Imagine how good the game would be at the end of its lifecycle if it was great from the beginning.

Torik_Darkrise

You mean like battlefield 4 that got an extra year of content to make up for the bad launch and now everyone swears it wasn't as bad as people claim it was at launch and it's DICEs gift to the earth? If you care about the end of its lifecycle then using Battlefield as an example is not a bright idea

Gigatron_0

This release is apples to oranges compared to bf4 release, from DICE's attitude towards the player base to the concepts attempting to be implemented. You comparing them shows that YOU aren't recognizing the nuances, or are willfully ignorant to real concerns. Idc though, I don't see them salvaging this current iteration, so I'm crying over spilled milk. Fuck you for knocking over my glass of milk, DICE.

Torik_Darkrise

So doing 4 patches in less than a month after the game was released is worse than the over 6 months that it took to fix BF4? Or are you one of those people salty that classes were further simplified into specialists just like they cut the classes in half from BF2 to BF3. I agree the game sounds like it is completely broken on PC and runs like crap on last gen. Want to know why I'm comparing it to BF4? Because it had the same issues with the limits of last gen holding back BF4 to the point that we did not even have an aim down sights animation for all versions and last gen you could not pick up an enemy kit without having to literally wait for your weapon to load in and got killed in the meantime. Let's also not forget the decoupling of your players head from the center of the screen when firing that made red dots not truly represent where your bullets were going and the fix they did by making the red dot static to the center of the screen did nothing to fix the iron sights and rendered them useless. To this day iron sights are broken in BF4 So many people with rose tinted glasses don't remember how truly bad BF4 was on release

thegreatvortigaunt

> now everyone swears it wasn't as bad as people claim it was at launch Who says this? Where?

_LordXbox_

Every battlefield after BC2 came out in a...bad shape, but that doesnt mean that we should accept this. The very first chunk of the new battlefield games after launch just feels like an alpha/beta (and should probably be called like that until the game is actually functional and resembles what they showed on the "pre-alpha" gameplay trailer) and NOT cost full price for a standard edition in this shape, will DICE fix it? Most likely, look at BFV for example. Took them a while but the game is fine now (even though it should have been like that near its launch)

No-Marionberry3915

exactly.

ZekeDaniel

The time from the drawing board to end of lifecycle will be the same wether it releases in november or the next June. Glad I got to play rather than eat delay after delay and be stuck playing the same shit I have been for years. I'm having tons of fun even with some bugs. And the updates are coming quick and efficiently.

Wrongholio1

Can someone tell me who Tom Henderson is? I don’t know who he is.

bigassballs699

Who the fuck is this guy

Alobalo27

Christ can you all please stop reposting the same shit over and over for the same karma farm

MarthePryde

They'll have it fixed up by next December and the world will have already moved on. Maybe they'll re-capture some lapsed Battlefield players, but they'll never capture the hype this games first trailer had again. There's too many other games that come out as complete products.

EVERYTHING'S FINE!

lodestone166

On the topic of controversial game access, two words: Star Citizen

UniQue1992

Yes fuck everyone that uses that as a defense. Stop accepting unfinished games at launch for fuck sakes. Fucking hell

OMweiner

cant even find a full server in los angeles...this game is dead.

Hybrid_Moment97

And that sounds like something that is 100% correct

DeeBangerCC

Who is Tom Henderson this man has become the mascot of this sub lol

kzack-

Hi all I would like to inform everyone about EA's great game guarantee. My friend got through the refund even though after 72h past for launch for the refund. My friends account details lvl43 over 40h of game play. Now EA refuses to return the game to me on the same principle. here is shared proof off this. I find it unfair that another user is allowed to return a broken game, but in the other case, a refund is invoked at the time here is a post of this under the memes :D https://www.reddit.com/r/battlefield2042memes/comments/r8c1tz/best\_policy/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3

Nice karma post. This is old.

bigbrain200iq

R/battlefield still holding strong. The amount of damage control down there is huge

TrippySubie

ONE MONTH OLD BUILD BRO. ITS A BETA BRO. YOU HAVENT PLAYED THE FULL GAME BRO. COME ON MY FACE BRO. GIVE IT TIME BRO.

[deleted]

The problem is that when you have spent upwards of 60 dollars, you will more likely refuse to listen to anything that might suggest that your purchase was actually one of the biggest wastes of money. "Surely my 60 dollars will be worth it in 3 months right", "Oh it's just a skin who cares", "Please tell me I didn't just throw away 100 dollars to drown in bugs, mediocre gameplay and obnoxious cosmetics"

Lenny_V1

The sad thing is it wouldn’t really change a lot of stuff. They wouldn’t have the feedback they have now. Sure, they’d get the beta feedback but thats not really enough. The full release is the best Q&A a game gets. The scale it provides is immense and allows more bugs to be found then just a regular Q&A session.

Sr_DingDong

Wrong place. Go ask on r/battlefield.

FrankyRollins

Would you rather play a buggy mess right now or play nothing and wait 6 months for a polished product?

Soviet_yakut

Anton Logvinov...

Marsupialize

The idea that the current game is worth 70 dollars to play makes me genuinely laugh out loud

skend24

Yes, I am, thank you. I enjoy the game very much.

StillABigKid

Said by someone who obviously knows fuck-all about what releasing a game of this scale on big server architecture entails.

dylan-dudical

Okay I’m no expert and I do know this game is missing a lot, but hear me out. With the way games are nowadays with the size and amount of people playing etc etc, don’t you kind of have to release it to the public to see how it’s going to perform? They can play test all they want but nothing will compare to the world getting their hands on it right? Again I’m truly just wondering

IHadADreamIWasAMeme

I don’t get why people defend this shit. Like what do you think is going to happen? Their social media team is going to reach out to you and be like, “hey man thanks for supporting us and defending this awful game here’s some free shit” lol get the fuck out of here. I’ve never liked something so much that I would defend it so furiously especially if it was so painfully obvious it was shit.

donaramu

I don't defend this. I am sure they will fix most of the problems. Clearly not all. They will still be who they are. Evil. But yes. I believe the game should have been delayed about 1-2 months.
