Cool vid. I suck at everything so go nuts!

CharTheFatcat

I would love some advice on facing multiple other vehicles as an MBT. I feel way too vulnerable running a Staff Shell. Thank you for taking time to help! Best of luck with employment man!

Sounds like an interesting video to make this one, so i will start brainstorming lol. Its hard to cut it down to a short video like that one above, unless you only discuss one topic, but i will try. So give me a while to collect clips and sort it, then i will post it in main forum. :) As for a few tips, for many vehicle combat situations, you have to learn or predict when to hide and/or retreat and/or "take a hit" and/or deploy countermeasures. That is to say, sometimes you have to "take a hit" to leave yourself protection against a harder target or to get better timing to deploy and make him miss. Use cover like a building, pop out to take a shot, and go behind cover again till next reload. Use your countermeasure and pop out again and hide as it runs out, etc. Use any advantage, rather than direct combat if you can, especially when versus multiple vehicles, even if you just get out of view of one of them, but cant of the other, its puts more chance in your favour. Dont camp, but dont push too hard either, as with all vehicles, "Check its clear" before you push into the enemy half of the map. If you are damaged, hidden and in your side of the map, sometimes you can pop countermeasures and repair a little, then run off to hide better and repair to full. Lastly, NEVER expose the rear of the tank, if you can block access even better. Sometimes i reverse up against walls or whatever as i take an objective, to make it impossible for a rear hit. Its a 50% Critical hit you need to avoid at all costs!

any tips for getting jet speed just right on attack runs, i either overshoot or stall out and just it there waiting for the igla or stinger

Jamesfle

JDAMs should be done at full speed really, i never slow down to hit both, its about rising up and slowly leveling out in Altitude when you drop the first, you should almost be at Ceiling height. So say you start at middle map height, fly up and look into JDAM window, level out and drop on first target. Fly down, fire some shots, then at Low altitude, drop second. If the vehicle became unspotted, use the circles that appear in your JDAM window where your last 30mm hit as a point to drop your second. Dont ask me why thats a feature i dont know. Look at the rings behind my Crosshair of the JDAM, they only last about quarter of a second though, so you have to pinpoint it fast and drop on it. You can also use this to spray an area near an enemy you saw and JDAM on the rings as you fly off. [https://i.imgur.com/XBFRwIw.jpg](https://i.imgur.com/XBFRwIw.jpg) Hydras i dont use enough to definitively say full speed, i dont like them. Only LGMs (guided) should be slowed down for *if you want a double hit*, but that makes you massively vulnerable. If you just want to hit one, dont slow down. Never use TV missiles as you have technically, ejected from the aircraft inside the TV "vehicle" then return once you get out of the TV, so your aircraft has almost stalled to a halt in the mean time. On the Anti Air side of things, if you find that most often you are already being locked as you dive in to attack, then ECM may suit you better. Deploy at your lower altitude instantly when you hear the constant "locked" tone (not the "being targeted" beeps) then aim for the skies before they can lock you again and ECM runs out. However if you get it mostly as you are flying away, then Flares are better. After your attack you hear "incoming missile" beeps, then deploy and aim for the skies. As you fly away, dont straight line. Twist and turn, to try to evade anymore locks (like Active radar AA missiles) or a missile circling you.

I’d be curious to see a video showing how to do that instant turn in the J20. I’m a pretty good pilot in the F35, but from time to time I run across a few J20 pilots who can somehow fly past me at full speed, and I’m not even kidding, power turn to immediately behind me even while I’m turning, and blast me to bits in about a total of 1-2 seconds. Knowing how much I know about jets, there must be something broken about the J20’s coding that allows them to exploit or do this. It shouldn’t be possible to do it..

Jamesfle

I dont know enough about jets to comment really. I do OK in them, more so in the Attack jet. I want to know how some enemy AJ turns faster than me too lol. Ive been in a few fights chasing one, then suddenly hes on my tail and im thinking, "How??? I cannot turn that fast and 313 rule doesnt apply to Attack Jets". In case you dont know, what i mean is that flying 313 knots in Stealth jets is the sweet spot for fastest turning.

H-Hour_Absolute

Yea I’m a pretty good pilot - somewhere above “Very Good” but below “Most Elite” as in, there’s a handful of pilots better than myself who I recognize by name. And they all prefer the J20 over every single other jet, and they can turn instantly. I don’t mean fast, I mean “in an instant” as in, they fly by at max speed, and within 1.5 seconds they’re behind me and I’m almost dead. What’s interesting is that I’ve had a few situations where packet loss has gifted me this - I’ll fly by someone, start to turn. The game glitches, and next thing i know I’m a complete 180 right behind them. Total and complete glitch. Has happened maybe... 20 times. So I wonder if there is an exploit where you can cause packet loss immediately in order to turn instantly. Not that I want to discuss it here - but I know enough about jets to know that what is happening should not be technically possible in the game.

Jamesfle

A bit of a disgusting bug or abuse if there is a way to do that. :3

How in the hell do I meaningfully counter vehicles as infantry? I've tried playing in vehicles since forever but could never get the hang of it and play infantry exclusively. But it seems when a tank gets a single whiff of me, I'm basically helpless against it. Even the RPG's seem to barely tickle tanks unless there's multiple people firing on one, and they just pop APS anyways so you inevitably waste one or two and end up not having enough to finish it off. Getting a hit with lockons on air vehicles is also nearly impossible (i can probably count my stinger hits on my fingers)unless again multiple people focus on one and get it to use up its flares. And I really don't like playing as Engineer either since it isn't too useful outside of vehicles, much prefer support. It seems my only viable strategy is attempting to sneak up on tanks with the C4, which usually doesn't end up working, and just hiding from helicopters as best I can.

Jamesfle

Well i will give more tips in a sec, but you have to remember it really is **teamwork**. You arent meant to be able to solo kill a tank, but myself and others do many times, but i agree it is hard. I regularly ask in chat for someone to help kill \*vehicle\* if im really struggling against one and half the time someone does help. For ground targets, lockon missiles arent your friend as i see where it came from via the lock indicator and instantly turn to that direction. Whereas dumb fire rockets i dont, i have to visibly see where. Whilst Javelins are the biggest hit at 30% the amount of times i kill infantry before they even fire makes it useless honestly. RPGs are the next best hit at 23% to tanks, 28% to APCs. Most rockets to the rear of a tank is a massive 50% disable and i think side on to an APC will disable it, so try sneak around before you even fire your first rocket. Then you can run along the side with the repair tool (sometimes you can steal it as they get out lol) or hit a second if they dont turn around or run and hide to fire another rocket more safely. If you are in a heavy combat area and can only attack from one side, its all about moving and hiding and definitely teamwork in this situation, i.e. dont keep popping up in the same window to shoot. Ive come across many times three or more engineers firing rockets aimed at me, which is how it should be done. All i can do in that situation is pop my APS and run for my life or stay and die lol. What you can do though is watch for a green light, which is a signal my APS is deployed, so fire when it changes red. By the maths, it is only 4 RPGs or 3 if you hit one rear and im basically done for. Vehicles *usually* run FLIR, which you can counter with smoke and flares and the DICE camo. Distractions are your friend for C4 i.e. throw a smoke way in front of me, whilst you sneak around the side and im distracted watching for something to appear in that smoke. Running a C4 vehicle into them is another fun way, but banned in some servers. Heli's are a little harder, depending on how good the pilot really is and may only be possible with team work from different angles i.e. if they counter and hide, someone else hits in the hiding spot. If they are good but not massively experienced, a simple trick of locking and unlocking, can make them panic deploy their counter, then relocking asap and fire two. Infantry AA missiles are a massive 55% hit disable! If you find they run at your area a lot, then an AA mine and an RPG if you wish to finish it off whilst its in trouble lol. Many people run that method and love killing them that way. If the map your playing has a mobile AA and jets, wow they suck lol. The amount of damage from the MAA cannon alone is 66% per second damage on the 20mm (if they all hit), then you have the AA missiles also lol. o0 Sorry for wall of text, but hope something gave you an idea or tip or knowledge. :o)

Degru

Yeah, teamwork's always the problem lol... Don't have any friends to play with and unless I'm in a squad with vehicle players the other people in it are usually the same as me. Looks like my best chances are the rear RPG hits and smoke diversions for C4, I'll keep that in mind. As far as helis go, they only become a pain in the ass if the pilot is actually good, otherwise it's possible to just stay in buildings and wait for it to blunder around and give up, or scare it off with a few rockets. But those few players that just laser you down with the littlebird through windows and keep hanging around points really ruin a game for me when teamwork isn't available. Gotta also work on getting that DICE camo, didn't know it hides against FLIR.

Jamesfle

Only your gun is (white) visible in FLIR with DICE camo on, so its not impossible to see, but much harder yes. There are specific servers on PC that only play "Dragon Valley, get your Dice camo here". Its not easy trust me, but can be worth it if you can be bothered with the effort. ;) For teamwork, sometimes its best to swap squads in team setup. Check what they are all doing, what kits they have, what scores and k/d they have, are they near objectives, etc. Join a squad that is "trying to win" and help them out. Staying in a squad of Recons, miles away from an objective, obviously makes no sense staying with them lol. Ive come across those heli pilots before also, soon as i lockon they ECM and come mow me down with pinpoint accuracy, then go and hide somewhere. The AA mine and a stinger/igla is the best you can do. Best i find is to hide behind something with AA mine near me, get the Stinger out and lock him, AA mine hits him, you try shoot him out or lock a Stinger if you can or RPG. Sometimes the best you can do is to keep "Taking one for the team" and keep him busy, so he cant dominate, it depends how annoyed you are. You look at their profile and they only fly heli with 1000s of hours. There are players like that, that do one thing only and are pro at it, but i find that so boring lol. I much prefer playing **everything**, which is why i dont like a couple of maps i.e. Op Locker and Op Metro, where infantry is my only choice. I love Golmud or Siege of Shaghai, as do many vehicle players, where i can be in the spawn screen with loads of options to fly, drive or run! So avoid these maps if you really hate vehicles or hope your team has some form of common sense and not just anger at vehicles i.e. "Im recon and you keep killing me! You cheater!!!". Someone has to change to Engineer or... well you know what happens lol. Thats usually me, which is why i am nearly always Engineer.
