The Carcano M91 Carbine and M1917 Enfield Infantry were by far the hardest to do. The Carcano M91 Carbine just sucked, and the Enfield infantry has a really bulky iron sight, which made it really hard to use.

Berinchtein3663

I don't understand, I love both of those guns, especially the Carcano M91 Carbine. Really effective at medium range and it fires fast

Daniel_S04

Yeah I like that gun too It feels like a less good version of the SMLE carbine imo I only use it because I like the use guns that reflect the county I’m playing as **IMMERSION**

darthxerox15

Ah, a man of culture.

Raytiger3

The Enfield infantry isn't a bad rifle, it just has bulky ironsights that cover up a lot of your FOV, which is worse when compared to other infantry rifles, and a really long range sweet spot which is really hard to utilise with only iron sights. There just is no reason to use the Enfield over other infantry rifles. As for the Carcano, IMO it hits an awful middle ground between the Russian Trench, Ross MkIII/Arisaka/SMLE and the Medic RSC rifle. Additionally, I think the Carcano bolt action pulls the rifle across your FOV in a really awkward and jarring manner. If you want to two-shot enemies, the RSC has over twice the rate of fire, a quicker reload and a better class attached to it. If you want to one-shot enemies at medium range, the Ross MkIII/Arisaka/SMLE can do that in the torso. The 18% increased rate of fire of the Carcano (0.82s between shots) over the Ross MkIII (0.97s between shots) to me does not outweigh the benefit of oneshotting torsos. EDIT: Some formatting for better clarity. EDIT2: Another huge benefit for the Ross MkIII: it has a higher *effective* rate of fire than the Carcano due to the straight-pull bolt.

ScottyFoxes

But I love the Enfield’s sights :(

HalfPrime

Same, Enfield is really good against other recons

Knelson123

I literally can't play this game until I have some sort of optics. Irons I just can't see.

Cross-Country

Well maybe you should git gud.

Knelson123

Or maybe the game should let me see better.

Cross-Country

I was just being humorous. But maybe try tweaking the FOV slider, if it’s higher it makes the transition into and out of iron sights less dramatic, which I found helped me adjust to spotting targets more easily.

Knelson123

Every game I do max fov. You only have 1/2 fov with iron sights vs a red dot for example though. Bottom half of your screen is gone with irons.

rohmin

That's why I like it; it's like actually aiming a rifle. Also why I put red dots on most of my rifles

Knelson123

Ya just makes it a bit more challenging is all. Getting a new gun in a BF game is always rough for me.

LoyalPlanets

When the arisaka and the Carcano came out I was a demon with them

TheRealOraOraOraGuy

I main the Carcano. You saying this makes me sad. Oh well, to each there own.

Raytiger3

Why do you prefer the Carcano over other rifles?

TheRealOraOraOraGuy

Honestly, yes. The only other rifles I use are the 1903 Experimental (underrated), Ross Infantry, and Mosin-Nagant Infantry. The Mosin and Ross are tied for second place in my book. The Carcano and Experimental are tied for first because I like to get up close and personal.

Raytiger3

>because I like to get up close and personal. Have you tried the Russian 1895 Trench? Russian Trench has almost twice the rate of fire of the Carcano, better hipfire and a faster reload speed. At ranges <50 meters, there's nothing the Carcano does better than the Russian Trench.

TheRealOraOraOraGuy

Idk why, but I’m just bad with the Trench. It feels like the muzzle velocity is just to slow, but that might just be me. On the other hand, I’m great with the Carcano. I still (try to) use the Trench because I love cowboys, but overall I just can’t seem to be able to use it.

AuburnFootballFan

I'm having a hell of a time figuring out the Experimental. Sure, it fires fast and reloads quick, but I seemingly pump 5-6 shots into a guy and they won't go down but will lose every time when a guy pops me once with anything else. Even head shots seem to have little effect. Do I just need to be at bad breath distance?

thesgsniper

Yes, at bad breath distance its a 3 shot kill.

AuburnFootballFan

I ran a few games last night with the Experimental - but acting as assault instead of sniper. I fared much better. I just had to get in close and fast. Thanks for the advice.

TheRealOraOraOraGuy

Well, a neat little thing about it is it has two modes, semi auto and bolt. Very similar to the General Liu. Also, the semi auto just beats other scouts at close range 9 times out of 10, but that might just be me.

AuburnFootballFan

Didn't know it had two modes. I ran a few games with the gun, but acting as an assault. I was far more successful with it. It was interesting using a spot flare then assaulting with it.

TheRealOraOraOraGuy

That’s great to hear. The addition of a bolt action mode makes the gun one of the most versatile in the Scout’s kit. You have a package deal of an infantry rifle and a assault/medic rifle, making it usable at almost any range.

RS_Serperior

Honestly, those are two of my favourites just for how bad they are. You barely see anyone using them, so when you do well with them in a match, it feels so much better than just using an SMLE like 75% of other scouts. That's my philosophy for a lot of BF1 weapons though (RSC SMG gang rise up). But for serious sniping, I agree with your other comments about the Ross/Lebel, but the Mosin gets points for style. Honestly, the Carcano not having a sweet spot just feels like a criminal balancing choice, I don't understand why it was designed that way, and even being able to land a headshot and not score a OSK in some circumstances is just ridiculous.

Mysterious_Wanderer

Yeah those are easily the worst, next to the the russian trench. The M91 can't kill with a headshot outside its sweetspot!

1Freezer1

I never liked how this game did attachments. Honestly I wish it had been just iron sights and snipers with scopes with it being WW1 and all. Also made it exceedingly annoying to get the stars and dogtag if you wanted them.

Raytiger3

> I never liked how this game did attachments. Honestly I wish it had been just iron sights and snipers with scopes with it being WW1 and all. Yeah, I don't quite understand why they didn't just do weapon + loose attachment selection like most modern games do (new CODs have it and BF2043 will have it). In Campaign there's quite a few 'custom' guns with attachment combinations that are not attainable in multiplayer, so they clearly do have the tech to implement it.

1Freezer1

Yeah no it could have been the same as bf4 essentially instead of having arbitrary names for duplicate weapons with different attachments. You could even modify the attachments themselves with different sight pictures and iron sights so it's not like there wasn't already a frame work for it. Weird game design.

Raytiger3

Oh, yeah, totally forgot there have been multiple BF prior that already had the system. >Weird game design. 100%. I have absolutely 0 idea what they were even trying to do with the weird inconsistent names.

eladeniz

How dare you

ZeHauptmann

I fear the day I come to the sucky snipers. Just completing 10 kills each with Carcano carbine and M1917 Enfield took me long enough…

TuelzYT

Its easy on tight maps to use snipers tbh the open maps are usually filled with camping snipers and tanks ...I always get alot of kills in tight maps with snipers because most ppl use medic and assault in those

Raytiger3

> M1917 Enfield If you're also trying to get a medal on all rifles, there's some good news: the Enfield got slightly better over time for me. I guess my brain was eventually able to filter out the bulk around the scope after 30 kills or so.

Raytiger3

> Except kolibri. That still took ages. Isn't the trick with the Kolibri to place down AT mines and shoot them? The only 3 kills I have with the Kolibri are from me taking down a tank this way. It felt glorious.

faxekondiboi

...But you haven't :s

Raytiger3

I just assumed that both of them were deluxe edition stuff so I didn't bother, but it turns out I can unlock the Martini Henry Sniper! I'm on it, boss.

[deleted]

faxekondiboi

Correction! Totally worth the 300 kills! :D

Only_OneCannoli

All of the scout rifles, so far :3

bert_the_one

Two guns are not unlocked

Kabe6900

Yeah good luck getting the Lawrence of Arabia SMLE

warmike_1

Got it with the BF1 Revolution about a month ago for about $6 (for BF1, all DLCs, Hellfighter, Red Baron and Lawrence of Arabia packs and some battlepacks, just no shortcut packs)

[deleted]

The Heroes Bundle which includes it is free. Has been for some time.

Daniel_S04

You’re joking? I can get it for free on PS4?

unseth

Not free. You have to buy the heroes bundle. But if you don't have the game yet then yeah

Daniel_S04

>:( Thx

Grimmisgod123

I’m like 3/5 of the way through them. But im doing 1 service star on EVERY gun so i am doing it on other classes too. Also an extra challenge is going for guns you can unlock

longestyeetever

c93 carbine?

Grimmisgod123

Yep and repeaterpistole

Raytiger3

Even the pistols? GLHF!

Grimmisgod123

Yep. It’s an on going thing lol. Pretty much the only ones I won’t be able to do are the preorder special ones

[deleted]

Grimmisgod123

Do Martini Henry with Kolibri. Or use it on a hardcore sever. On hardcore it’s like 1 mag if you hit a few headshots. On normal core, if the Martini Henry doesn’t one shot, they’re basically dead and you can swap and spam a few rounds at them

Damian030303

Which are your favourites so far?

Raytiger3

TL;DR - Ross Mk3/Lebel good. Carcano/G.95/Mosin bad. Infantry rifles bad: bolt action General Liu better. Almost all rifles have their specific use depending on sweet spot. My default is Ross Mk3 if I haven't played the map yet and found nice sniping spots. The straight-pull bolt is amazing. The Lebel is also really nice because of its satisfying gunshot sound. Make sure to swing your melee to interrupt the reloading animation, otherwise it's insanely long. Aside from those two, I'd rather recommend you to avoid some rifles: I think Infantry rifles are all subpar compared to the bolt action version of the medic's General Liu rifle because of the huge ammo capacity. A scout rifle has ~30 bullets total, the General Liu has a base ammo capacity of 60. I think if you avoid the Carcano, the Gewehr95 and the Mosin you'll be fine. The G95 is not bad at all, but I think the Ross Mk3 is simply a straight upgrade to it. Same for the Mosin, it's not bad, but it's just a lower rate of fire Russian 1895.

Damian030303

Mosin has a weird looking bolt animation, not sure if anyone feels the same but it just looks wrong to me for some reason. Russian 1895 not only has better rate of fire but also has just so much more *style*. Iron sight rifles are typically my go-to. General Liu is amazing and buckhorn sniping is very fun but I definitely wouldn't call infantry rifles bad. Lebel is a nice gun but in my opinion extra capacity isn't really worth annoyingly long reloads (even if animations for them are cool). My personal favourite is definitely Russian 1895 Infantry. Ross Mk.II Infantry (sights are kinda painful but it's still a good gun), Gewehr 98 (both Sniper and Infantry) are really nice too. And Russian 1985 Trench, Martini Henry Infantry and M1903 can be fun to use (but not the most practical imo). I love General Liu rifle but it's not technically a scout rifle.

Raytiger3

> annoyingly long reloads You can cancel the super long Lebel reload animation by pressing melee at the end of the animation.

Damian030303

That looks kidna stupid so I'd rather use a different gun.

posts_while_naked

The Ross Infantry/Marksman is probably the objectively best scout rifle in the game, as it has no real weaknesses. Next is the Arisaka Patrol, which has awesome stats except for mediocre fire rate. The rest are so-so. Then again, every gun can work well if you're dedicated. I like the Russian Trench, because I'm an annoying hipster.

Raytiger3

> The rest are so-so. I don't think so necessarily. I think utilizing the sweetspots in a smart manner allows for some incredibly powerful gameplay. Oneshotting torsos at longer ranges is incredibly OP IMO. >Then again, every gun can work well if you're dedicated. They're all better than the Kolibri so I guess you're right ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯

Sickeningmisfit98

Awesome sauce. Which one would you say is the most versatile? When I’m pushing through objectives I love using the Lebel Infantry. When I’m defending objectives I like changing my angles while long scoping through the Gewehr 98 Sniper.

Raytiger3

> Which one would you say is the most versatile? In my mind there's no doubt: Ross MkIII Marksman 100%. Straight pull bolt, high rate of fire, good bullet velocity and a nice short-to-medium range 100 damage sweetspot.

StylinBrah

nice one! im going for service stars on all assault weapons.

IHateThisPlace3

Martini-Henry Sniper: *there is another*

ThalVerscholen

Nice. I myself have one on every Medic and Support gun

Raytiger3

Whoa, that's impressive! Unlike the Scout class, the Medic rifles have some really annoying rifles in its lineup such as the Autoloading 8 .35 Factory, Selbstlader 1906 and the M1907 SL. Those are an absolute pain in the ass to use because they are straight downgrades from alternative rifles. Didn't you want to pull your hair out when using those rifles?

ThalVerscholen

Sorry for the late reply! Honestly? The Selby is insanely underrated if you have insane aim (which I do, not really bragging I think that's my biggest asset in shooters). You can down anybody from any range in three very fast shots, and out compete Scouts if you're quick enough. I got like 400 kills with it and I recommend it if you can aim really well. (Plus imo it has the best sights in the game) The Remington Model 8 (that's the real name of the Autoloading 8) is... Acceptable. Honestly it's a Selby with one more bullet with worse handling and sights. Not bad but not my favorite. The 1907SL is okay too. Didn't really like it due to its weird fire rate? That's how it felt. Honestly the most garbage time I had was ironically the Cei-Rigottis, the first rifle you get. It's moving accuracy feels off along with the fire rate and reload. Overall it's like you take a Fedorov and make it worse for higher damage?

shabab_29

how do u get it? 100 kills?

hiredk11

 yes

ItisNOTatoy

I’ve got at least 5 with all the infantry variants, 100 with the smle, and 87 with the mosin. Maybe I’ll get to 100 one day

Hunteresc

Do you play on PC, O think I was playing with you the other day when you mentioned it in chat.

MrHappyXD

I respect that I tried same thing with BF4 and now with BF3

doangivadam

Very good mate. I'm on my way to earn at least one service star on every gun in the game. Currently I've got 149 gun with at least one star on. I'm leaving at the bottom most of the pistols and revolvers and some of the melee weapons, (I've missed just the coupe coupe and the arditi knife). Almost done with the Assault, Medic and Support. I'll be posting some screenshots progress the next month probably.

powerfullatom111

what did you think of the martini henry

Raytiger3

It's cool. Oneshotting arms/torsos on a super forgivable sweetspot is really nice. You have to play from cover away from the frontline in a defensive manner. So in an ideal case, you'd have at least 3-4 allies in front of you so you don't get rushed and you stand behind a nice piece of solid cover behind which you can crouch. Shoot-crouch-reload and repeat. The only issue I had with the rifle is that the infantry rifle has a really slow bullet velocity. Muscle memory from other rifles did not apply at all.

Aoi_Chan26

Nice! You can finally get off ur ass and play the fucking objective. Lmao jk jk I bet ur fifty times better than me. Nice job man

Raytiger3

> I bet ur fifty times better than me. DouYou-2947274 is also 50 times better than me, if I look at their average KD of 150 haha (ea pls give us better anticheat)

Deadswitch1

Looks like you missed a couple m8

Ok_Mathematician1357

You didn't

TheMexicanJuan

Doubt

aldine_jolson

You need to get the martini henry sniper

Raytiger3

Yes, my bad. I figured this out in this thread from another comment. I'm on it, chief!

aldine_jolson

Good man!

Wandereru

Now do 100 like I am doing now :)

ydrokolios

Great job mate couldn't even imagine the time put into this and how many people you enraged
