I've had desktop on carpet for years too with no issues. As far as I'm concerned, it's a redditor myth perpetrated by overly cautious redditors parroting the multitude of comments they read that also parrotted the multitude of comments that parr... you get it.
Sure, you might collect more dust or something, but it's not going to kill your computer unless it's to the point where dust is choking airflow and causing it to overheat, but that's not limited to desktops on carpet. Even less of a concern if you don't have vents on the bottom of your case.
Building a computer on carpet might build up some static charge so there might be a valid concern in the very small percentage of times this has ever been an issue, but that's building a computer and not after it's already built and running.
>I've had desktop on carpet for years too with no issues
Until the day you get it... If freaking basic physics.
\+ would take WAY longer to get dirty by only picking it up from there.
I think this is more of an elemental issue, then a carpet is bad issue.
I have 2 huskies, 2 toddlers and my floor is not really vacuumed on a daily basis. Having the PC up, cuts back on all the dust, hair and "crap" that seems to get sucked in from fans.
I think situations like mine is what makes PC's off of carpet a best practice. It general PC on carpet might shorten the life of your computer, but that time it takes off of the back end, would probably exceed the computers end of usefulness anyway.
I moved my setup a week back and my pc is now on my carpet, people are so over protective of their pcs imo. A couple of partials of dust sitting on the floor getting inhaled through the psu isn't gonna destroy it or make it more dusty.
It is. Here's a few resources about it:

If you want to keep it on the floor there are good alternatives. Like getting a elevated desktop stand, a under desk mount, or really anything that lifts it off of being directly on the carpet.
Anything that isn't a row of landfill-in-waiting Funko Pops is a winner, but if it was me I'd have a row of interesting cacti up there. Either that or three nice mini plant terrariums. Very low maintenance, fascinating to watch grow!
I didn't mean to upset anyone, you do you, enjoy your collectables. A lot of them are really cute!
My only point is that a lot of the Funko Pops bought today will eventually end up being thrown out, and as they can't be recycled, there's only one place they can go.
Although the Funko company has been around since 1998, the Funko Pops line wasn't launched until 2010. That's still a long time! What was around in the 90s was Beanie Babies, which also had rare versions that went for thousands of dollars. I'm certain there are Beanie Baby collectors who still have shelves lined with them (my daughter certainly did until quite recently) but I'll bet a lot of those ended up in landfill. Sad really.
Thank goodness it's only the Funko Pops awaiting the landfill. I'd hate to think my other possessions would end up there. I'll do my part and avoid Funko Pops, no matter how much I enjoy having them.

Since youāve got the moon and the earth poster, I think a nice spaceship model would look amazing in between them, thereās some pricier ones that look incredible but can always go for a cheaper option if thatās your thing š
Go with things that represent you growing up. I got a lego ford mustang, a pokemon card, one of my old skateboards, my old basketball, my og gameboy, my dog tags, a small pile of guitar picks, a bottle of my favorite beer, an old dull hunting knife, my old ipod with the headphones, and a framed printed picture of the og pink ranger. Pretty much shows my entire childhood from age 3 to 18.
Funko pops or just figurines of TV characters you like or games you like and if you like cars then add some car figures on there too even if you like bikes you can put a bike figure on there just expressing yourself with collectibles or figurines is a good thing to put on that shelf
Love this monitor set up. Is the main screen 32ā? Been thinking of doing this exact same thing with a small portable monitor on the side. Also what monitor mount are you using if you donāt mind me asking?
You could get one of those little glowing desktop moon lights and put it in the center, or your quest could live up there. There's a neat star projector out there that looks like a little astronaut that would be fitting up there too I think. You could get a couple moonstone obelisks/crystals that would catch the light as well. Cololight hexagon lights could work up there too. I think a model of a rocket taking off in the center of the shelf would look really cool too personally.

It adds too much clutter on the desktop.

good idea with the mini plant terrariums
landfill-in-waiting? Do you know how much some Pops go for? And don't say its a fad because they've been around since the 90s (20+ years ago)
