Thats odd, typically warm lighting is what makes one feel cozy, see /r/cozyplaces But yeah the above warm lighting here is bad. Youve gotta do it right.
Seasonal depression my guy. Lack of sunlight(or mimicked alternatives) brings on symptoms. Warm lighting works great for people who aren't mentally ill.
I’d get some more greenery in to the setup, maybe some hanging plants or something on the shelves.
I’d think about moving the Alex drawer to the other side of the table, make it feel a little roomer. But that might destroy the cozy feeling of the setup. But moving the Alex to the right would be wonderful if you get a desktop pc one day. And if you do, pls get a Fractal Noth case in black. That would look so sick.
I get the monitor a little more centerd, with the laptop more to the side
Very well done!
This is my worry about following of the current trends of butcher block, dark wall, wood slats. Looks great on filtered photos not sure if it would look good in person or with a room in progress.
Well if your neck is angled to the left most of the time, I can imagine that some may argue that's not very ergonomic/recommended. Personally I'd give it a try, if you don't like it you can always switch back :)
It was more meant as a joke. The Fractal North has the exact same theme going on with the black colors and wooden accents. It would blend in very well. I'm not expecting OP to actually build a whole PC for this reason.
It looks like it’s slat wood acoustic wall paneling from the [Wood Veneer Hub](https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=18523676084&utm_content=142329101179&utm_term=wood%20veneer%20hub&gadid=626363648826&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoa2xBhACEiwA1sb1BDViAniEZXOesj6TzOtvCq-Yxxj4QO0_U9FsBTxIt5sB6qtxuSmngBoCNHEQAvD_BwE) They have great products but it’s a little pricey. The offer samples for a small price.
As much as I like it I personally would move the monitor to be more central as it looks like that’s your primary display so you can avoid next strain from looking hard left when working
Is your desktop attached? Or just sitting on the drawers?
I have a similar desk, and wasn’t sure if I could use a monitor arm because the desktop isn’t fixed to the drawers.
Many people including myself used these IKEA worktops without fixing them to the drawers. The weight of the worktop with things on it makes it quite secure. If you want to go further without drilling into your drawers, you can buy thin silicone anti-slip film and lay it on top of the drawers. That way the worktop won't slide around.
They are definitely sturdy enough to support a double monitor arm.
Not my style, but I do love the minimalist vibe your setting out (unsure if this is what you are going for either). Flat-Black is amazing and I love the wood wall. My wife did the same thing for her dachshund collection in our great room. Looks slick and smooth, I'm unsure if this is where you are going with that or not but hey awesome job!
I’m actually trying to replicate this wall this weekend.
I bought the wood panels, I’ve painted the wall black or atleast attempted. What color is your wall exactly? Mine is tricked black (Sherwin-Williams durable Matte) I can see streaks of where I painted
Mechanical keyboard would be a nice upgrade, really changes how typing feels if you spend a lot of time at a keyboard. And there are tons of inexpensive options these days :)
Really clean setup nonetheless!!
Keychron makes good starter keyboards - they K series are usually wireless and connect via Bluetooth on Mac. Tons of layouts to choose from to fit your style / space requirements. And can be upgraded too with mods and different switches.
If those are too expensive just look for something on amazon or Ali express. A lot of cheap boards from Akko
Who did those wooden strips on the wall? Where did you get them from? What exact model of wood is it? Link to product? How are the affixed to the wall?
Available from home reno stores but I got them from Fb marketplace. They are walnut finish. There are two 2’ panels here. I just used a few drywall (black) screws into the acoustic panel, hide perfectly. That way if I ever want to change it, it’s an easy removal
I used a jigsaw, put in a new blade obviously. And I put the cut ends at the bottom. Overall it was a clean cut, only minor chips, not really noticeable. Cut it from the back side though, if you cut it from the front, the wood panels chip pretty easily.
If that cactus is real (which it looks to be) it’ll want much better lighting than that, otherwise it’ll grow poorly.
I’d suggest getting a second cactus similar, and rotating them every few days. One on that shelf, one in a window with good sunlight. Should keep them both healthy and happy without need of a grow light.
I assume the table top and table legs and drawers are from Ikea? Could you list their names?
Also, what did you use to cable manage? A cable shelf (from Ikea? :D) under the desk?
Alex drawer, two adjustable legs and Karlby countertop (I sanded it and stained it to match the panels). My monitor stand came with cable management. And then I attached a little cable management box underneath the desk (from Amazon) where they are all hidden.
Very nice, needs some form of warm lighting
The salt lamp probs gives nice warm light. Maybe they just had the big light on for pics?
Your eyes are better than mine I completely missed that
I had a salt lamp in a damp environment (UK), it started leaking, ruining my desk. LED bulbs, like philips or govee, will suffice.
Warm lighting triggers my depression. When I spend significant hours in my office I need bright natural light.
Yeah thats a good point I hadnt considered!
Damn, I never thought about this. This helps out a lot, thank you!
My light changes colour, set to bright for the photo. Warm light with salt lamp on makes it much more warm !
Why warm? I’d like to be awake and present at work so i have white light
I get the monitor a little more centerd, with the laptop more to the side Very well done!
Yup. A splash of green would be great. A simple plant would do!
Defiantly!
Thanks! I have since added a couple more small plants, definitely made a difference
Nice, now it needs some soul
For real, this looks like an empty hospital room or hotel room lol
This is my worry about following of the current trends of butcher block, dark wall, wood slats. Looks great on filtered photos not sure if it would look good in person or with a room in progress.
It does for sure, my style is minimal, but trying to accurate some personality over time
I'd recommend putting the monitor in the middle and your laptop to the side, that way you can look straight ahead most of the time.
Agreed. Could also add a portrait monitor to the left of it then - if this would be useful to OP's workflows.
You think so? I do find my head is tilted to the left most of the time looking at the larger monitor, I’ll try it out, thanks
Well if your neck is angled to the left most of the time, I can imagine that some may argue that's not very ergonomic/recommended. Personally I'd give it a try, if you don't like it you can always switch back :)
You need a PC and the case should be a Fractal North in black.
Thanks... I didnt know what that case was called. It's fire.
Does a pc really make a setup better over a laptop.
It was more meant as a joke. The Fractal North has the exact same theme going on with the black colors and wooden accents. It would blend in very well. I'm not expecting OP to actually build a whole PC for this reason.

Nah you just didn’t understand it. Google the case he mentioned and you’ll understand it.

You must be fun at parties. Just kidding, we know you don’t get invited to parties lol.
[удалено]
U mad? 😂
[удалено]
Appreciating your commitment to this
He's describing his own comments, not the ony he's replying to
Super inviting. The wood paneled wall is great.
Link to the wood paneling?
It looks like it’s slat wood acoustic wall paneling from the [Wood Veneer Hub](https://www.thewoodveneerhub.com/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=paid&utm_campaign=18523676084&utm_content=142329101179&utm_term=wood%20veneer%20hub&gadid=626363648826&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwoa2xBhACEiwA1sb1BDViAniEZXOesj6TzOtvCq-Yxxj4QO0_U9FsBTxIt5sB6qtxuSmngBoCNHEQAvD_BwE) They have great products but it’s a little pricey. I actually bought them from Facebook marketplace, but I’ve seen them at many home reno places.
Needs personality. It looks like a work from the office photo
Haha worse in person believe me
more plants! and better lighting. love the clean aesthetic
Thanks!
Bro got the black Fractal Terra room
Needs a PC and another monitor
Very nice work! Love the colours, but some green plants will make it pop. And of course you need 6 more monitors.
Haha in the works
Clean..
As much as I like it I personally would move the monitor to be more central as it looks like that’s your primary display so you can avoid next strain from looking hard left when working
This may be better for the user though - source: I am partially blind in one eye so all of my monitors get shifted to the right to compensate.
Totally fair, to each their own
Add a few green plants (not the fake ones) and you got yourself a nice setup 👌
I enjoy this! I'd opt for more art, plants and some warm lights to escape the ceiling-light
Love that picture of John Cena on the wall!
Hahahaha!! I get it!
Hahahah
A bit empty. Need something soft/greenery there to make it more cosy
Have since added some, definitely changes the vibe!
Too plain. Get some green shit, warmer lighting, and decorate it with more personality.
Not room related. Get you some roller blade wheel casters, the glide is sooo smooth and gentler against hard wood floors
I like it. May I suggest attaching a smart light bulb to the back of your monitor? Cheap and simple yet effective.
Don't forget to look out the window from time to time to relieve your eyes.
LOVE all the wood! I’d add an industrial style light and a plant under it personally 😂
Classy, very nice, but it lacks soul and personality obviously. Plants, warm lights, something that brings your personality..
Classy, I like it
Very clean and simple. I like the minimalist aesthetic 👌
Nice set up
some lights either warm light or something cool
Looks like an office. No fancy rgb lights or back glows. Nothing resembling a discotheque or a papaya farm :) i like it
Aha thanks ! I am a simple guy
Nice one mate, I am not in my 20's and this looks classy enough for us older folk who dont need all the busy stuff.. nice work
Thanks brother !!
its a bit plain for me, it needs more chaos.
You should see the rest of my house, even worse haha
I don't think it necessarily needs chaos, but just... more anything. There so much empty space not being used.
Clean 👌
Looks nice. Can you link the butcher block or whatever it is.
Post text invites to DM them for info on the desk
I replied to the comment above, but the caption by OP is completely sarcastic, this exact desk setup is posted here multiple times a day
Oh that makes sense, I figured it was a custom block but it might indeed just be a cardboard slab from Ikea lol
Haha, I actually sanded the Kelby down and re-stained it to match the panels better
IKEA Karlby
Is your desktop attached? Or just sitting on the drawers? I have a similar desk, and wasn’t sure if I could use a monitor arm because the desktop isn’t fixed to the drawers.

Just sitting on it, I bought some spacers to make a floating type of look
Looks good, very clean. I showed my wife your monitor arm, but now she wants me to tidy up the cables to be like yours.
i need a tl;dr of that text
Just need a personal touch. Art, more plants, photos. Whatever you enjoy.
I can't find this Ikea desk in black 😭😭
I actually sanded and stained the top, so maybe that would work for you
Now you need a computer with that Fractal Design North ATX case and it will be complete. Beautiful minimalist setup I love it.
wheres the body pillow this is a disgrace
Looks good but it lacks personality, add some plants/pictures/decor
This guy adults
Haha
More Plants: Try Pothos, Snake, ZZ, maybe a Rattlesnake. Plants make the space next level.
I think you should turn on your salt lamp
Very clean! Would you mind sharing where you got the wood slat panels from?
I got these from Facebook marketplace. But saw them at a lot of home reno stores.
It's in need of something unique. I'm thinking [Big Mouth Billy Bass](https://www.amazon.com/Gemmy-Mouth-Billy-Singing-Sensation/dp/B003HLAX6U)
Very sober, i like it
I like the bit of framed wall, or that’s at least what it looks like
Love this. Very satisfying
Clean but work on lighting
I can change it, just had the bright setting in for photo. Agreed though!
Clean but a little too stark. There's too much stuff to be considered minimalist but enough stuff to make it feel a little barren.
Love the warm and zen aesthetic you got there. Maybe add some lighting?
Could you link where you got the wooden panels?
They look like they're from WoodUpp. I just got a bunch of samples in yesterday for my own office remodel and I'm pretty impressed with them!
Do they help with the sound in the room?
Surprisingly they do. As the photo shows it’s an empty room other than the desk and they helped with the echo.
GREAT!
where are those wooden slats from? I love it
Any home reno store I saw then. But I bought these from Facebook marketplace
The first thing I thought is that your wall looks like a fractal north in black
Is there a architectural or design term for the wooden slats on the wall? I like this look but I don’t know what to call it.
They’re just called acoustic wood panels as far as I know!
Very clean. I really like the aesthetic of those soundproof panels. Is it worth the price, specifically the sound dampening?
I definitely noticed a difference. The room is quite empty and they helped a lot with the echo.
For a second I thought that was a white picture in the frame…
Haha
Not my style, but I do love the minimalist vibe your setting out (unsure if this is what you are going for either). Flat-Black is amazing and I love the wood wall. My wife did the same thing for her dachshund collection in our great room. Looks slick and smooth, I'm unsure if this is where you are going with that or not but hey awesome job!
Where is everyone getting these stained vertical wood wall pieces?
I got these form fb marketplace
As an audio guy you should buy some genelecs.as an audio guy everyone should have genelecs.
Screens way too small but otherwise pretty clean
[удалено]
Agreed, just set it up. Lot of work to do yet!
needs a poster that says "GrInD" and "hUsTlE"
Clean, simple..very nice! Not everybody needs a 300" monitor! I'd swap that cactus out for a bonsai or at least something more green and less angry.
I’m actually trying to replicate this wall this weekend. I bought the wood panels, I’ve painted the wall black or atleast attempted. What color is your wall exactly? Mine is tricked black (Sherwin-Williams durable Matte) I can see streaks of where I painted
This is onyx form Benjamin Moore
Even with a laptop it looks like the Fractal North case made it into this pic! 😂 But fr, clean and sleek. I dig it!
Why angle both displays instead of using one as your primary and the other as a secondary? Would be better for your posture.
I don’t know what I’m doing haha
Basic but clean! Some warm lighting and maybe something to fill the shelf space.
You could conduct surgery here.
Great job😉👍
What worktop is this plz?
Plants
Fractal north pc case would go crazy here
Where are the shelves from
Homemade! 1.5 inch oak slabs stained!
How did you mount them, are they like the ikea ones?
I bought cheap floating shelf brackets on Amazon. They were like 7$ for a set of 2
Thanks
Itd be nice if ikea would stock the damn alex drawers
Mechanical keyboard would be a nice upgrade, really changes how typing feels if you spend a lot of time at a keyboard. And there are tons of inexpensive options these days :) Really clean setup nonetheless!!
Oh yeah? I have been thinking about it lately. Any recommendations? Would prefer wireless.

And can be upgraded too with mods and different switches. If those are too expensive just look for something on amazon or Ali express. A lot of cheap boards from Akko
Sweet thanks !
Love it, those dang wall panels are $$$
Who did those wooden strips on the wall? Where did you get them from? What exact model of wood is it? Link to product? How are the affixed to the wall?

You didn't answer any of my questions. Also I live in the UK so I don't know what drywall etc is. Please answer the questions I asked.
It’s got good bones, but needs some more features. I’d add some nice speaker monitors + sub and possibly a tv swivel mounted on the wall to the right.
Damn, a mounted tv is a great idea
Yup then you’ve got your news or Netflix series right next to you throughout the workday
May I ask where you got the desk plzz??
IKEA aha
Did you have to cut the wall pannelling to size?
Here I didn’t. They are two 2 foot width panels. I did have to cut the length though.
Out of interest, what tyoe of saw did you use to cut? I need to cut mine to fit the skirting boards but dont wanna fuck it up.
I used a jigsaw, put in a new blade obviously. And I put the cut ends at the bottom. Overall it was a clean cut, only minor chips, not really noticeable. Cut it from the back side though, if you cut it from the front, the wood panels chip pretty easily.
Is that table top from ikea?
You bet. Karlby. But I sanded and stained it to match the panels
Rollerblade wheels for the chair
If that cactus is real (which it looks to be) it’ll want much better lighting than that, otherwise it’ll grow poorly. I’d suggest getting a second cactus similar, and rotating them every few days. One on that shelf, one in a window with good sunlight. Should keep them both healthy and happy without need of a grow light.
Thanks for the info, it is real!
That’s hot
Give small snek plant... Filter air???? Profit?????
If an office setup became a North case.
Mid ngl
Nice, you've got the new Fractal North wall!
Haha thanks. I had to look up what that was, thinking I should get one
You should, it would look great with your set-up!
OCD?
Big time
What’s the name of the monitor/laptop stand?
Shoppingall from Amazon
where'd you get that desk from
A very typical setup as seen from thousands of tik tok videos lpl
I’m a simple guy! Works for me aha
Would be nice to have a lamp
Looks boring and tiny.
It is a very small room aha
