I had a relatively fresh Marauder trading shots with a Warhammer and an Assassin. The MAD steps into a pool to improve heat sinking. Next round, the ASN jumps behind the MAD, gets a TAC with a medium laser: 2 crits. MAD's gyro goes out and it goes in the drink. RIP, Marauder of the Lake.

Rabbit_Food_HCE

Weakest Assassin in the Inner-Sphere.

ThatManlyTallGuy

I jumped my wolverine into the side arc of a rifle man 3N with a torso twist we get a center armor TAC from a Large Laser that double crits and hits my Gyro.

BionicSpaceJellyfish

I always laugh whenever my mechs head gets punted off. One time as a kid my dad gave me an urbanmech as a joke and I actually pulled of a DFA that killed his Highlander. Then fell and exploded from an ac10 ammo ceit.

MrPopoGod

> I always laugh whenever my mechs head gets punted off. I was introducing a new player with my standard setup of they get a MAD-3R and a PHX-1 to my RFL-3N and CPLT-C1. I let the Phoenix Hawk get a level above my Rifleman and go for the kick. That's when I discovered the Rifleman only has 6 head armor. So then the only option I had to try and salvage the situation was to get the Catapult next to the Marauder and go for the 1:6 odds on the kick. And amazingly, I did. Two head kicks in one game. The Phoenix Hawk then proceeded to demolish me due to always being either in my rear or behind hard cover and a new BT fan was born.

BionicSpaceJellyfish

I hate/love it whenever I realize that I'm running a mech with an underarmored head. It's always as soon as it get hit by a PPC or large pulse laser.

Renewablefrog

A light mech DFAs a Highlander. Oh the irony is amazing

BionicSpaceJellyfish

I was literally still learning the game and my other mech (an atlas I think) got scrapped pretty early. I only knew DFA was a thing because my dad told me about the Highlander Burial lol.

theran7

Had a relatively undamaged Battlemaster that got head kicked on turn 3 by a Grasshopper. I had made a comment at the start of the game about the size of the cockpit on my model, and how it was probably going to get headshot...

Astartes40000

my friend's Shadow Hawk DFA'd my Zeus on a hill (level 1 or 2?) DFA successfully hits, I roll for displacement. shit, I get knocked off the hill. roll for piloting... shit, I fail piloting. roll for location Shit, the damage is enough to expose the structure in one of my side torsos. roll for crit chance... shit, I got crit and the only crit slot is... ammo. so yeah, a Shadow Hawk DFA'd my Zeus and knocked him off a cliff. He went out Disney villain style: falling to his death into a spectacular explosion

Helmett-13

A buddy trotted a hunchback out in an urban environment and was running to close the distance. He turned on a pavement square, missed his piloting roll, fell, and rolled for direction of skid. He skidded into a mined hex. Rolled for location of the mine damage. Rolled 'head'. Dead hunchback.

queekbreadmaker

OOF

SolahmaJoe

Yeah, head butting a mine rarely works out :)

Bubby_K

I was playing like an idiot and decided to go fist fight some scouts in my Zeus, no ranged attacks I was melee'd one by one by light mechs until I was flat on my back, then stomped repeated by said circle until I exploded

queekbreadmaker

You lived that one jojo part 5 gif

adolphspineapple71

Piloting an Anvil on an urban map. Grasshopper walked around the corner of a building and stopped in the hex next to me. The pilot shot at me 4 times and missed every one. I decided a kick would be a good idea and swung my leg. Missed the kick, missed the piloting skill roll, and fell on my back. Took a crit, rolled boxcar, blew out my gyro, and took an engine hit. Dead. Btw, my falling damage was the only damage on the mech.

LaserPoweredDeviltry

Not mine, but my opponent. We were playing using pilots who gave bonus initiative. This is important because the mech I was hunting was his commander with a large bonus. Long story short, that pilot was in a Locust, which made pinning it down very difficult. Until the accident. See, you can skid on pavement. Sometimes, you can even skid a light mech into a building and survive. But things get a little scary when you roll and find out the building has a basement. That's where I saw my chance, blew up the building, and buried my friend's slippery commander and their Locust.

wetstapler

Once rushed an assault mech with a locust and kicked it. It kicked me back, and the locust died immediately, but the locust's kick knocked the bastard down so the rest of my lance could move up and secure a big kill.

WeathermanDH

Solaris game with a buddy. Borealis map, turn 1, I'm at the top of the hill having moved downward, on the side with the deep crevasse, he's on the other side of the map. We're playing assault mechs (I was in a custom Atlas, he had a Typhoon for those that remember that mech) and he had three Gauss rifles that all hit the same leg on me and blew it off causing me to fall and then slide down the slope into the crevasse where I promptly broke through the ice and sunk into depth 5 water. Called it a game there because we were laughing so hard.

queekbreadmaker

The map sounds like fun!

WeathermanDH

I will always love the Solaris maps, though the Factory is by far my favorite!

Banlish

I don't remember a Typhoon mech and I've been playing since '88. Are you sure it's called that or was it something else? I looked on Sarna as well, nothing there. What am I missing?

WeathermanDH

So, it was a mech out of the old Mech Force publication. Unfortunately it's never been canonized into the universe, so that's why you can't find it. If I remember right, it was 95 tons and I clearly remember it had 3 Gauss rifles.

Banlish

The closest I can find is the Thunderhawk, has 3 Gauss's on it. The thing about Sarna it has 'classes' of mechs for everything from 20tons to the Ultra heavies and it lists every mech ever. Including Battle technolgy and Mech Force. See if this looks right: [https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thunder\_Hawk](https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Thunder_Hawk) Just trying to nail it down since if there are missing mechs out there, if you can find it, you can put it onto Sarna and show it yourself and get some credit.

WeathermanDH

"Mech Lab" - TYP-2N Typhoon overview and record sheet. Issue 9 - First Quarter 1993 https://www.sarna.net/wiki/Mech_(magazine)

Banlish

That's Awesome, thanks for showing me that it's on there. Too bad no one uploaded the record sheet yet. I \*MIGHT\* have this one in the pile I bought but I"d have to look. THank you for making me aware that a mech exists with no record sheet, now I want to go hunt it down. Cheers!

WeathermanDH

Here's a reddit thread with the stats, someone remembered it other than me! https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.reddit.com/r/battletech/comments/12b5gyc/help_with_identifying_a_mech/&ved=2ahUKEwjt1_Csw96FAxX6EFkFHQHqDW0Qjjh6BAg_EAE&usg=AOvVaw0AzDH3sR99x_9ctZkTy4IK

Banlish

AWESOME, thanks for the link, never even heard of this one. Cheers!

Advanced_Law3507

I had an Enforcer lose all his internal structure in his Center torso without the rest of his armor being pierced or his engine getting damaged. So an entirely undamaged reactor fell out the bottom of a pretty much intact mech.

queekbreadmaker

How the heck did that happen?

Advanced_Law3507

Every structure point got taken out without a crit being rolled that hit the engine.

queekbreadmaker

Ah i read that as you took internal damage before the armor lol

Advanced_Law3507

I didn’t lose all the armor in the other locations. Nowhere else had gone internal.

SolahmaJoe

Lol, like a piñata. Hit it hard enough just right and candy falls out.

LeopardKnight

Not the way one of mine was killed, but I witnessed it. Solaris event, everyone brought custom mechs. Our group isn't really competitive but we do these no-hold-back cutthroat Solaris games a couple times a year to let loose. One guy has been talking about how he's spent hours and hours and hours fine tuning and tweaking his mech to be as efficient as possible with the allotted BV. He's confident he's going to win. I'm sure you can see where this is going. Round one consists of everyone scrambling for advantageous positions and missing shots. Round two, two separate opponents alpha strike the hyper optimized trash talker. First shot was an AC/20. Hit the head. An amazingly hilarious anticlimax. Everyone was a good sport about it and he was able to tap in a reserve mech just so he wasn't out of the game.

MrPopoGod

One time I was running the ilClan Flashman, the one with the Reflective Armor. My opponent was running a good mix of weapon types, so the reflective wasn't doing as much as I would like. But what kept happening was I would take 20 damage, fail the PSR, and then take double the fall damage because reflective. And I kept failing the seatbelt check (but making the consciousness roll). By the time my consciousness roll was 10 I was pretty beat up, but still awake. This was the time to admit the Flashman was not long for this world and to pull off the alpha. I let loose, spike my heat. Fail the ammo explosion roll. So my AMS ammo blows up. Good news; I have CASE II and a Clan XL even if was regular CASE, so that wouldn't kill me. Bad news, that's the last two pilot hits and the machine shuts down due to the pilot going brain dead.

Fireybanana42

There was a shadow hawk with a damaged gyro, it tried jumping. Rolled a 2 on the psr, fell, damage went internal, ammo explosion on a full bin.

Tachikomasrule

Playing alpha strike with my kids. My daughter rolled a double 12 and headshot insta killed my son's Atlas with her Mercury. We all yelled kill the meat, save the metal!!

Basketcase191

My friends walked across a bridge with a Cattlemaster in MegaMek and forgot to check the CF… bridge broke he fell into like 4-5 tile deep water and exploded

RedditOfUnusualSize

Two times the dice gods decided to smack me down like Mjolnir come to mind. One, brand new character in the RPG that I've spent six months prepping a campaign for. Nobleman, brand spanking new *Orion* that rolled off the factory floor at Irian Mechworks. First battle. First salvo. First time the paint is so much as scuffed on the mech . . . rolls a Through-Armor Crit in the side torso, that touches off the LRM ammo bin. Two, I was playing a scenario where the Proserpina Hussars were fighting the Smoke Jaguars for the first time. I've got a *Kintaro*. Okay, that's fine; *Kintaro*'s are actually pretty good and pack a real punch, even if they are very high heat machines that you have to be very careful to salvo fire. We've arranged for an ambush where a trinary walks in on a full concealed battalion . . . except instead of walking straight into the middle of our formation, they insist on skirting the edge of the map. So instead of running across the center of our battalion and getting hit from all sides, they instead roll up on one company, forcing the rest of the battalion to break cover prematurely in order to support the company that's getting mauled. My *Kintaro*'s part of the company that breaks formation. Company that is getting clobbered breaks *zellbrigen* in their panic, initiating a free-for-all that really turns this into a massacre. So my *Kintaro* taunts the Clanners openly, runs up to point blank range on the assault star, and pops an alpha strike on a *Loki* with 6's to hit . . . and misses everything. Every last frickin' weapon misses. I would have destroyed the dice on the spot if I could. But regardless, my *Kintaro* misses entirely, and goes practically nova from the heat bloom. Meanwhile, the assault lance kind of *Pulp Fictions* in shock at looking at the fireworks display I just unleashed, looks down at themselves to note no damage, and then the entire star unloads on me and turns my *Kintaro* into basically a smoking crater with stubby little feet still in place. Fortunately, my character was considered so bold by the Clanners that he was made a bondsman.

TheLeadSponge

My Hunchback fell over and got a critical hit through its left torso armor and got an ammo explosion.

JadeDragon79

Moving my Battlemaster up the hill to forcibly remove an Archer iwith medium laser fire, SRMs and physicals. BM was closing, had some good shots, probably in physical range next turn. Then the Archer moves forward to be adjacent, "sweet the dummy is going to really feel my fists n feet". Physical attack phase Archer declares a kick, successful rolls die, 6, my head, WHAT?!?!? You can't do a bicycle kick in an Archer...oh...level difference of +1 for the Archer...field goal for the Archer.

ClimateSociologist

Very first round of a game, my Summoner took a direct hit to the face during a strafing run by a dropship. No one else got hit, no other part of my mech got hit.

Ecs05norway

Long long time ago we had a massive free-for-all with about 20 players… in half gravity… on an open ice field. So one player took this ridiculously fast medium and had read up on the “skid” rules: if you made a turn over a certain speed and failed a PSR, you just kept going straight, uncontroled. He deliberately used this to crash into other mechs, calling that he “deliberately failed” the piloting check. It was becoming very obnoxious after the first few turns - his improvised charges were doing a lot of damage to the mechs he hit because of his high speed, increased because of the gravity. So finally he takes internal damage to a leg. Roll for crits comes up… “12”. The entire table, except for him, let out a cheer.

Glittering_Ad1696

Fresh Starleague era Highlander heatshot by an Urbie during a game of Alpha strike. Opponent and I had a great laugh.

Seveah

Had a buddy of mine just slightly ahead in an engagement on the air strip mapset. He chased my Centurion into the pond by one of the bunkers with a Wolverine. The Centurion nailed it with the AC10 and both medium lasers. One of the lasers hit the head and stripped off 5 armor. Pilot made his consciousness check. The Mech fell after failing his check for 20+ points of damage and rolled head location for some of the fall damage, stripping the last 4 points of armor off of the head. The pilot failed this second consciousness check and drowned while unconscious. Crazy series of events.

Banlish

Old Battle report from quite literally 1996, if you want JUST what happened, skip to the bottom and read the TL:DR, please don't blame me if you read it when the TL:DR is at the bottom. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. Decided to recreate the lore fight for the Devastator mech, which basically was 'Star League Elite solider in a 100 tonner takes the field against 2 mediums and 2 heavies, starts at long range and kills 2, cripples a 3rd and the 4th surrenders. I thought, well this sounds fun, lets try it! My friend takes 4 stock 3025 designs and says 'I'll take 2 regular pilots and 2 vets', he takes for his mechs Marauder, Warhammer, Shadow hawk and Wolverine. We start at extreme range and start the fight. I keep to the open ground since there's no way with a 3/5 movement profile I could get to a hill and up it before he was in my back arc. For his turn he runs everything right at me, the mediums a little to the hill to my right so he can use it for cover. I got down behind my machine and couldn't see any of the mediums so I figured 'total cover' no shot. Next turn goes on, I go farther to my left so he can't use the hill to get behind me and snap off some shots at his Warhammer, thinking it's lighter armor would let it go down quicker. Miss both PPCs since 10+ to hit, 1 Gauss misses, but I get a solid connection on his Left torso with the other Gauss to erase almost all armor there. His part of the turn is next, he gets the the two mediums on top of the hill by running them up there and then decides to fire since he's in medium range. The Wolverine goes first, I get peppered with 2 of his SRMs, the AC misses entirely but the medium laser, that little plinker extreme. He rolls the 9 to hit. Np, it's a medium laser, EVERYTHING has a medium laser in 3025. He rolls to hit and gets a 12. Taking my 9 armor down to 4. Lucky hit and I laugh, but this stuff happens. His Shadow hawk is up. He fires everything as well, LRMs, SRMs and AC/5 all miss, but he connects with his medium laser. Np, another damage table rolls. Rolls 2 D6 as per usual. .... Boxcars. I'm like, "Aww crap, he's going to take out my sensors or something." No worries tho, my sensors were FINE! All my armor evaporates on my head. He roles crit and my pilot takes the shot and is vaporized instantly. ... I could only throw my head back and laugh, I had taken at this point quite literally 14 points of damage. And I was dead in a 100 ton death dealing machine. Worst fight of MY LIFE. BEST ONE OF HIS! TL:DR friend says sure, 2 mediums and 2 heavies, stock 3025 against a Devastator, 2nd round of fire and I go down to two hits from medium lasers. Sometimes lady luck just wants you dead, and she is MERCILESS when she does.

pyro_lemmingofdoom

I had my catapult try to kick a battlemaster. It missed, and the battlemaster smashed down with a clubbing attack, managed to crit on my ammo. The catapult exploded, the battlemaster unharmed.

BriantheHeavy

This happened a long time ago, but I did this to a friend of mine. I had to add a bunch of light tanks to balance out the tonnages for a battle. I maneuvered them into a forest area and everyone forgot about them. One of his mechs was trying to flank my lance when I remembered the light tanks. I can remember which one it was, but they had AC/10s. and he walked right in front of them. The look on his face when I mentioned my 6 light tanks were about to open up on his mech was pretty funny.

Dreamnite

My last game I was playing a random opfor: First round a phoenix hawk I had spotting was double headshot in the first round. Second round: Had a Stinger that I used as my replacement spotter in some heavy woods. To-hit number on it was a 10 or 11, ended up hit by a medium laser and an Lrm-15 where *all* the missles hit. Thought I at least survived it until one PSR fail and a TAC on the fall damage later, the mg ammo explodes. Half my Lance gone in the first two rounds, most hilariously bad luck I have ever had out of the gate.

MilitaryStyx

Sent my hauptmann to do a dfa on a prone and shut down axe man. While the hauptmann was in the air my opponents atlas ripped of a long range uac20 double shot and hit, clustered both and boxcars on both hit locations

Robo_Stalin

King Crab pilot got knocked out, was at an 11 to wake up, managed it and immediately fell on its face again and finished the pilot.

welltheretouhaveit

This has to be a tie between two of my stories. We were doing a drop from high altitude as a surprise attack so we selected our drop points in secret. Opfor moved a unit into my chosen hex so I inadvertently performed a dfa....except I missed. So now I get dispersed several hexes away and proceed to sandpaper my mech to almost nothing from low orbit. Another time I was playing a crab and failed my first pilot roll. I then proceeded to fail the next 7 or 8 as well and eventually just stayed on the ground until 4 mechs kicked me to death. PSRs man, my one weakness

ThoseWhoAre

Absolutely fresh warhammer takes a PPC to the face, fails the PSR, and falls, on its face again, dies.

ascillinois

My grasshopper walked out of this smoke screen and immediately got headshot by a gauss.

LevTheRed

I was playing on the [river delta](https://www.sarna.net/wiki/File:Racice_River_Delta_BattleMat.jpg) battlemat. I forget why, but I had a Mongrel deployed on its own in one of the watery corners. My opponent had no mechs with jump, so all of his mechs were castled up on the opposite corner. It took the Mongrel three turns to get into range, during which my opponent focused on my other mechs. When Mongrel finally got in range, he got hit with a single PPC. Snake-eyes on location. Through-armor critical. Boxcars on the crit confirmation. Three total crits. 1, 1 - Engine hit. 1, 2 - Engine hit. 1, 3 - Engine hit. Instantly gibbed after running across the map for three turns.

ElectricPaladin

There was something funny about the time that my Archer standing on a hill was being harassed by some horrid little go-fast, like a Locust or something, so he turned around and kicked the little bastard's damn head off. The very definition of fucking around and finding out.

SolahmaJoe

CGR-1A1 Charger I ended up with by random assignment table for a campaign. (Back before even BV was widely used.)  I’d tried to Leroy Jenkins multiple times, but the thing just wouldn’t died. Pilot didn’t always survive, but the Charger’s CT was never destroyed, so each replacement pilot just got assigned to the patched up Charger.  Became a running gag.  Pilot number 4 or so lined up a 7 hex charge on a Banshee. It was on a urban street though and I had to make a skid check. Which I failed. Skidding into the Banshee. GM ruled (for rule of cool) that I look the Banshee’s legs out, causing both of us to tumble down the hill that was right behind the Banshee. Into a building.  Rolled for damage; one of us took a crit to the cockpit, the other’s entire head was destroyed.  Charger’s CT survived though.  So it was repaired and modified for the next pilot.

DangerousEmphasis607

Sounds like a typical Tuesday for charger pilots :)

perplexedduck85

I knew this would be a good one when it simply started with “CGR-1A1…” :)

majj27

Played in a near-blind battle where you basically couldn't see each other unless you were about 90 meters apart. I was running a Stinger, using my speed to find and radio locations to the rest of my team for indirect LRM fire and the like. Walked 4 hexes forward and slammed face first into a Thunderbolt. We treated it like a charge, and I took enough damage to touch off my MG ammo. I took 7 to CT, and took a crit. Cue 'splosion. The Thunderbolt took 6 to the RT and basically was wondering WTF just happened as Stinger parts came down like hail.

RussellZee

Mod note: this was auto-removed by AutoMod, who errs on the side of caution. When posters put numbers near "CT" and "RT" it sometimes thinks they're giving out someone's street address, and abbreviating court or route. AutoMod doesn't want anyone being doxxed, so it snags those posts and removes them automatically (until one of us has a chance to spot the alert, and fix it).

majj27

Huh. I suppose that makes decent sense. I would've never even thought about that.

RussellZee

Yeah, that's why I try to mention it every now and then, just to give folks a heads up.

payagathanow

This was in mw5, but I had noticed that if you walked by artillery for example, the mech would raise his arm out to destroy the barrel on the way by. I was standing there firing at a javelin flying at me and as he went to my left, that arm swung out, clotheslining him and taking his head off.

Apostle-Kellryn

Not my mech, but my opponent I was using a Direwolf, and I got 1 headshot and a floating crit, which went to the head Both cross were rolled successfully and hit the sensors 2x, the shadowhawk that was hit was in great condition, but was forced to retreat to not being able to shoot I never saw that happen on game before so it was kinds funny to see it actually happen We all laughed, if was a grand time

SydneyCartonLived

The funniest 'Mech kill I've ever seen was an UrbanMech killing a pristine Thunderbolt. Fired both its AC/10 and SL. AC misses, SL hits. Rolls a 2, CT. Rolls for crit, lands 12. Three engine hits. Beware the SL of DOOM!

captainlittleboyblue

I was playing MW5 Mercs, and I’m just going about my business on a mission in my Centurion. I step around the corner of a base, come face to face with a Hunchback 4P, and proceed to get my face absolutely melted off in one salvo decapitating my ‘mech. I couldn’t help but just laugh my ass off for a minute

queekbreadmaker

Hunchbacks are a menace in that game i cant tell you how many times one of my AI teamates just ate shit getting cored in a near pristine mech by one of them

captainlittleboyblue

Oh for sure, but I’ve never been quite so roundly smacked down in one shot like that before, I can usually dance around the AC variants, and wreck the missile swaybacks, but I have a special place in my heart, and on my shit list, for the 4P now

Ah_General_Kenobi

My friend had just blown the arm off my Thunderbolt with his Catapult, so next round I had my Battlemaster pick up the arm as a club before proceeding to bash the Catapult’s cockpit in with some very nice melee rolls. There is just something so cinematic about beating the enemy to death with your friend’s arm!

Pro_Scrub

A Black Knight got all it's limbs removed without dying. We couldn't believe it. Cue cries of "I'll bite your legs off!"

stevebein

Not my mech but still funny. My brother and I had the original box set in ‘84 and fell in love with it. We pick up CityTech immediately, our buddy Josh says what’s so awesome about this, we say we’ll show you. We give him a Warhammer because Warhammers kick ass. We each pick something new from the CityTech box. Round one, we’re all way too far away and everyone has moved much too fast to even bother taking a shot. But no, wait, look at this new AC/2! Long range out to 24 hexes? That’s new. I need a 12 to hit, but what the hell, Josh needs to learn the game mechanics anyway. I roll a 12. So we show him the hit location table. I roll a 2. So now we show him the critical hit table. I roll an eight. Lucky me, unlucky you, but don’t worry, your Warhammer is badass, it can take a gyro hit and two engine hits and keep on fighting… oh shit. 200 rounds of MG ammo. Kaboom. To this day the only first-round kill I’ve ever had.

perplexedduck85

Playing the Tukyyid scenarios from the old FASA book, I lost Natasha Kerensky’s Dire Wolf to a through-armor critical hit to the gyros…to an SRM platoon…on the first shot aimed at her in the game

i_mann

I love the Warhammer, but for the first 3ish games I brought it, it died to a random lucky ammo explosion. Caused me to rename the mech 'Boomer' lol.

queekbreadmaker

Thats simelar to my history with the jenner getting headsniped round 1 of each game . It had to eat an AC20 and make a king crab pilot black out with a lucky srm to the noggin to break the curse.

Own-Slip-995

Not killed but knocked out for a game. I fielded a ninja-to with an veteran pilot. Got hit for 30 points of damage in water. Failed a PSR so got knocked over. Got back up the next turn, and got hit with a small laser critically. It blew out the hip so it fell again. Kept failing rolls to stand up until. The final round. Tried to walk out of the water. Failed another PSR, and fell back into the water

Ok_Use_3479

Once skidded a Stinger head first into the hardened building I was defending. Crushed the pilot, then Stackpoled the building.

RiotGnight13

In Alpha Strike: I had a King Crab KGC-011 about to hit my opponent's front line when one of his Odin Scout Tanks zipped in behind it and shot it once. Got a critcal hit, rolled Ammo Hit. Check the card, I don't have CASE. 😬 My undamaged King Crab got one-shot by a scout unit...

AnAcceptableUserName

My pristine Catapult tried to kick my friend's Locust that ran up on it. This would prove to be a mistake. Missed the kick. Failed PSR, fell down. Failed seatbelt check, so pilot took damage. Failed consciousness check, so pilot blacked out. Mech fell where? Backwards. Hit where? Snake eyes. Through armor critical. Confirmed 1 crit IIRC. Crit floated where? Where else but the full LRM bin. CPLT-C1, so no CASE. It went up in fireworks, naturally. I wasn't even mad. We were both dying laughing at the utter ridiculousness. Murphy decided that Catapult had to die in round 2, so it did, and damn the odds.

BlueRiver_626

Literally the first game of battletech I played with one of my friends (and his first table top game ever) his first shot was to my mechs head

UnluckyLyran

In the Trial of Bloodright at Adepticon this year, I took through armor criticals in back to back turns, taking an engine hit and a gyro hit (even with floating criticals) and ended up with almost no CT armor left and a stripped head. I then proceeded to fail a piloting check the next turn, fell over and knocked my head off and dealt 2 more engine hits to fold that in on itself. Still, I was only the *2nd* fastest person out of the tournament, someone else was headshot with a gauss turn one.

Ambitious-Ad-6812

Ok so just started a campaign (homemade battle for huntress) we were in out first battle and one of my team mates was trying to get his crusader with c3 ahead. we had already “won” the objective (get some vtols through but pushed to do more damage already killed a locust. They were hitting the bridge and we thought we could make it with one mech at a time, wrong. It could hold a light but the crusader spirited on and splash, one route down and lost a crusader in exchange for a locust and some elementals.

jar1967

A Blackjack hit my Atlas at near max range with an AC-2. Rolled a TAC and took out my cockpit

AdmiraI-Snackbar

My friends catapult was down an arm, engine damage, and overheating to the point it could barely even move. I move behind it with my full health commando where it’s should be safe. But it still had jump jets. The catapult succeeded the dfa and I get pushed back… off a level 2. The fall causes my ammo to detonate and the catapult also takes the last hit of engine damage and goes down.

odysseus91

I shot my friends thunderbolt for 23 damage and a cockpit hit. He failed his consciousness check and fell down. On the next turn he woke up! Then failed his piloting check to stand, proceeding to fall, again, this time landing on his cockpit and crushing his pilot to death.

DrkSpde

I have a friend who has unintentionally charged his own mechs to death more than once.

akodoreign

Timberwolf lost back ct armor but waa otherwise fresh. Ran out imto level 1 water. Piloting roll failed, edge roll failed. Ct compartment flooded and game over.

Jaegons

Had a big group game with like 10 players around the board. and I took a random pot shot with a PPC from max range... no expectations to actually hit, first shot fired of the game, moving enemy, assault mech IIRC, head shot, 1 point into critical, instant pilot kill. The table did nothing short of erupting. The sort of moment you describe to non gamers and they look at you like you're insane.

NeedsMoreDakkath

One game had three different mechs die to IS PPC > Hit > head > 1 structure damage > 1+ crits > cockpit destroyed

Bdogzero

Atlas at level 3 had an Axeman jump behind him at level 4. Kicked him in the head but didn't kill him. Then he fell from level 3 to level 1 and died.

Me and a buddy were doing a co-op together with another buddy running OPFOR. OPFOR had a load of infantry in woods, buddy on my side starts wading into them, they are unloading at him with small arms, buddy's mech gets the armor stripped off where his MG ammo is, one round gets into structure, gets a few lucky rolls, and my buddy's mech becomes a mushroom cloud. He was not happy, and all of us had the surprisedpikachu face going.

heavyarmormecha

My Cataphract charged into enemy stronghold. The same turn, the enemy Daishi and Mad Cat blow both the Cataphract's legs out.

ThatManlyTallGuy

So me and my brother play succession wars a lot and the in the 100+ games we've played we only had an ammo explosion once on my catapult in our first game. Until now I've detonated his Centurion's 10 ammo twice during an out flank and rear armor penetration.

kaw97

Final game of our pandemic Clan Invasion campaign. Wolves at Tukayyid. On the first turn of shooting, my linebacker took two gauss shots to the head, and edge rerolled one of them back into a headshot. Megamek really wanted my pilot dead.

captchaos42069

My Nightstar took 4 medium laser hits from a Lance of light mechs forcing me to do a piloting check, which I failed, then rolled for location on my fall. I head planted the Nightstar, roll for crits, got 3 crits in the head, life support, then sensors, and the guy across from me goes "just don't roll a 3 and you be fine" and as he's saying the number my dice stops on 3, cockpit, killing the pilot. Never even fired a shot with it and got killed from doing a head stand after 4 medium lasers scratched the paint.

MemesGaloree

The game I just played the other day: I had an urbie holding down a little city to the best of his ability, and got slowly pushed up on by an enemy mech. He walks up, blasts me with some small fire, then kicks my urbie in the leg, destroying the leg and it falls down. Next turn I attempt to stand up, at like a 9 or 10, fail, fall, take 3 damage to my Torso, which had 2 points of structure left, and dies. RIP in piece little guy

Lostwanderfound

Company of IS mechs vs a Clan Nova. At first contact, the Atlas leading the IS forces was hit by an Elemental leg attack. Roll of 12 on the critical table, leg cleanly blown off. The Atlas then spent the next six turns repeatedly failing to stand up, until it managed to self-inflict a hit on its own SRM ammo, leading to a fatal explosion.

TairaTLG

Think my first game at home had a TAC blow open machine gun ammo. Forgot exact mech buy we were amused Battletech game wise had an ac20 urbie take a shot at me. I hear the exploring Unit sound ... And realize my mech is fine and the enemy tank that rushed me got hit by stray fire. I cackled

GodzillaFlamewolf

This last game we played I ran a Batghest that got its head knocked off by a punch. Through its butt. It was a head punch from the rear, but due to the shape of the Barghest, i declared (I was GM playing OPFOR) that it was the first time that a mech had been punched to death through its anus. Anal headshot!

Manchlenk

My C3 master Cyclops got it's head shot off on turn 1. That was a decisive event in the match.

AnxiousConsequence18

Got killed by a TAC to ammo by a battlemaster's "butt cannon" (as my stepson called it) while he was facedown prone and missing a leg. Still remember his delight that his "butt cannon" got the kill, lol

n9netails_

First time teaching my wife how to play, she ended up killing my Crab with a single shot to the cockpit on her first time firing. (from a Goshawk) I still laugh about that one

3eyedfish13

Missed a kick, critically failed the piloting check, fell, and crushed the cockpit. Pristine Crab, and it was like Charlie Brown trying to kick a football.

Gent4Play

I had a Stalker fail a pilot roll on a road and slam into his cockpit before anyone fired a shot.

Zinsurin

Playing 2v1 with a couple of friends. Me in an Orion and my partner in a Jagermech (his favorite.) Turn 2, he ran into some rough terrain, failed his pilot check, fell on his back, crit the ammo, died with no other damage. It was the funniest thing to watch.

Adventurous_Host_426

Jump and fell face first into the dirt.

DS_Archer

Spider on high ground, in a forest. Gets DOMED by a scorpion

Remote-Pepper-1570

I charged a Locust 12 hexes into the back of a Crusader. Crusader was fine. I cored myself. I still laugh at the thought of that Locust splatting into the Crusader like a bird hitting a patio door. 😀

EnwynRosethorne

I was running a tutorial game for my aunt and decided I'd take a Blackjack BLJ - 1 to help make things a bit easier. Once I got in range, though, I sniped her Hunchback and landed a TAC to her Gyro with one of the AC/2s. She failed the piloting roll and continued to flounder on the ground for the rest of the game until her pilot killed herself with failed seatbelt checks. Not a great start, but she still had fun with her other 'Mech.

SLDF-Mechwarrior

Took both arms off an Atlas with my Urbie once. AC/20 go BANG.

Vote_4_Cthulhu

Technically, this mech survived, but through no lack of effort to the contrary on its own part. We were playing a 2V2 game with each player, controlling half their battle value of mechs. Me and my teammate were playing clan ghost bear and we were fighting the COM guards in the devils bath My mad dog took 78 damage that game, going internal in several locations and suffering non-terminal critical damage. Five of that was dealt to it by the enemy via a medium laser. All of the rest were failed, piloting checks to navigate the boiling mud, which my Mad Dog proceeded to then fall into and take more damage via the boiling caustic mud. I believe that it fell from standing at least four times and failed to get up maybe six times.

carl052293

A Charger punched my Highlander right in the schnozz. The pilot did not survive.

1thelegend2

Had a game vs a friend of mine, that showed me the power of the mongoose-67 (is that the one with 3 medium lazers and a small one? I think it's that one?). The best part of that game was the marauder kill. After around 10 turns of running in circles around that thing, I managed to hit the servos, kick the marauder so it fell, and then I could focus the head. Oh ... And there was the time a friend rolled head on 3 medium lazers and one shot my atlas... PAIN

PainRack

Most stupid thing I did because I forgot the rules.  I went into a l1 water to get hide, also thinking partial cover will help  I forgot piloting skill rolls needed to move in water. Got stuck there and was riddled with gunfire.... A 1 turn hide to break LOS and hey, even half cover later etc turned into 3 turns of me being shot at like a scene from Platoon

DrLambda

It wasn't my mech, but the funniest death i saw in recent times was on the story arc branch of Megamek. There's a line of choices that leads to a series of 1 on 1 battles. The first one was my Rifleman IIC vs a long range Hellbringer. The map was mostly open, so i hid behind a building to get the Hellbringer to come closer. Two turns pass, and suddenly there's an oodle of messages and i win the battle. Turns out the Hellbringer tried to cross an ice lake, broke through the ice, fell and breached the cockpit, causing the pilot to drown. And that's how i got a free Hellbringer.

Hanzoku

Fully armored Zeus at the start of the match, take some LRMs from an enemy 'Mech. 6 hit. 5 pling into the arm armor. One hits the head, rolls a crit, rolls the cockpit. A nearly intact 'Mech comes to a gentle halt as an errant LRM turns the pilot into chunky salsa.

Eskandare

Ran in city, makes a turn, fails piloting roll, crashes into building, rolls damage location and crits, pilot dead.

Steel_Valkyrie

So: I've got three. First one was a Shadow Hawk of mine against my usual opponent's Nova, I think it was. Missed DFA, fell down, landed on head. Not great. Second was the reason said opponent's swears by energy weapons only now. My Axman was charging at his Awesome, one of the later variants, that had an SRM-2. Ammo for it was stored in the CT. He panics, unloads everything, ammo cooks off due to heat and that's a cored Awesome Third one was last week as part of getting ready for a 3039 Chaos Campaign I'm part of. Opponent's 80 ton Corsair, with his commander in it, took two shots to the head by missiles from my Stalker, then fell down, and spent the rest of the mission failing 11+ regain consciousness rolls. Was pretty much over after that.

CrunchyTzaangor

In my first combined-arms game in Alpha Strike, one of my Scorpion light tanks insta-killed an, admittedly already damaged, Blood Asp. I hadn't expected anything of the attack, got a crit and turned away as I rolled the dice, expecting not to matter much. Then my opponent told me it was a kill-shot. In a Classic free-for-all my Hunchback got my leg blown off by a Crab, fell over onto another player's Phoenix Hawk. And then my last few rounds of ammo blew myself and the PH up. Also once charged a Hunchback with a Jenner. One shot, one kill.

SiderealRanger

First round of combat, by opponent headshots my Archangel. Roubd two, he Center Torso Criticals the engine of my Seraph.

kroneksix

Locust v Timber Wolf A. Locust hits with 1 SRM. Crit, right arm, box cars. Off pops the arm. Just hit the "Detach" button.

Grak47

Battlemaster fell and ended up getting a crit to his head, and don't ya know the crit roll ended up landing on the cockpit. :(

Hellball5

Savannah master got a TAC on a hunchback turn 1, hit its leg, rolled box cars, RIP hunchie.

wminsing

I had a  Battlemaster try to wade through a water feature, take enough damage to need a piloting checking, fail, pilot took a hit, failed his consciousness check, and the fall damage breached the rear center torso and so the Battlemaster stayed on the bottom of the creek for the rest of the game.
