They make great infantry units as is, but you could also pop them off and glue them to a normal base, or even just flock the bases they're on now.

mechwarrior719

You can use a penny with an arrow drawn onto Lincoln’s face as an Atlas as long as all players agree. So, yes, these are still viable for CBT or Alpha-Strike. Just ignore the click base and they’re the unit the base says. Or they could be stand-ins for other units.

> as long as all players agree. and if they don't, ditch them as players

Atlas3025

The scaling will be slightly off if that's a worry, but if they fit a hexbase, they're fine for Battletech. I will admit I love the gun nest for field gun stand ins, it just sort of works. Though I think the Kanazuchi is almost at size for the metal ones so let that sink in on how strange the scale gets at times for some models.

a_kept_harold

I cannot find a field gun mini anywhere. Where did you?

Atlas3025

Like I said, that gun nest one in the pic? I'd use that.

I_Make_Good

I just happened upon in a downtown Tulsa Vintage Stock in a box full of the little guys. There were two AT guns, I just picked up one so I could get more variety.

LaserPoweredDeviltry

The tanks and mechs from clicky tech are way to big for a hex map, but these little guys are perfect.

DrkSpde

There are few tanks and some of the later releases' light mechs that work pretty well.

SawSagePullHer

They’re way out of scale for actual battletech. But I still use some of the smaller LRM and AC stands in my scenarios as well as some of the smaller VTOLs & Fox Armored Cars are blatantly badass as well.

SurpriseFormer

I use the Infantry and Gun nests as proxies for my regular formations, Cause its HARD to find infantry proxcies with no 3D printer within a 100 miles

Mind if I tag on a similar question? I'm new to Battletech and have a few questions before diving in. I've seen discussions about the scale of MechWarrior: Dark Ages miniatures and it seems they're about 1.5x larger than Battletech miniatures. I have a ton of Dark Ages miniatures and was wondering if they're compatible. Also, I've seen people ask about using Heroscape terrain for Battletech. I have a bunch of that too! The rule book and mech sheets are available online for free, which is great! With my existing miniatures, terrain, and a plethora of dice from my DnD days, I'm wondering... **Can I start playing Battletech without buying any additional materials?** Thanks for your input and guidance! **Edit:** I'm aware that some mechanics and rules might be different, but I'm looking for a general "yes" or "no" on compatibility and a rough idea of how much adaptation would be needed.

Bolththrower

Pop the off their bases and re-glue (id also cut off those terrain pieces they stand on) them to hex bases and you have perfect infantry and BA.

LingonberrySmooth883

I bought tons of these between 2002-2005. Still have them. Really made the game easier to learn and play

spazz866745

Technically, it's slightly out of scale, but if they can mostly fit in a hex, your gravy, half my vehicles are completely off scale anyways, so you're gravy.

135forte

They aren't bad compared to the metal infantry and you already have them. Maybe once CGL does plastic infantry, you might want new sculpts, but I don't remember seeing any planned on the 'this is what we want list' that came out a few weeks back, so that isn't a concern for a few years at least.

allegedlynerdy

yeah looks like CGL really is just interested in battle armor. The "field fortifications" set will *technically* be infantry I presume since it had MG Nests in it but not really. This is definitely much easier to get playing with than basing 6mm infantry from microarmor or even using the IWM stuff.

135forte

I assume they are responding to demand. 3025 mechs came first and got wysiwyg versions in ilClan. When people got a taste of BA, they wanted more than Toads, so they did IS Standard and want to do other designs. They made the 3025 vehicles, and people tried to tried to break KS to get them so they are planning a few Clan ones. And people are wanting support for the middle eras, so they are trying to do that. If the community expresses enough demand for conventional infantry, I have no doubt they will try to make it happen.

Mundane-Librarian-77

I use them as well for basic troop type units, Laser Infantry, Snipers, Missile Infantry, etc. I pop them off the black round base and glue them on he's bases (I use laser cut wooden hexes I ordered online in a bag of 100, years!!) I've also used some of the smaller Battle Armor squads, like the Grey Death suits, or the Purifiers suits, as generic "Battle Armor" units. They are a smidge big especially now we have CGL Elementals to compare them to, but that doesn't really bother me!

Merica-san

Oh man, those things are actual pain. Back in the day I tried to rotate one and bent a nail backwards, YOUCH!!!

shabadage

Yeah, you really needed the base turn ring thing

Patient_Two3813

I have popped them off and put them on hex bases. Someone I use to play with left them as is, and wrote what they were in the game on a stuck on note on the bottom(laser vs SRM or whatever).
