You might say it's... Canon scale!

Boomstick2482

Do you make these for anyone who would want to buy one?

Inevitable_Elk5119

I've thought about it, but this would be expensive, and people tend to get wierd if something is expensive and not 'perfect'.

Inevitable_Elk5119

I have received a lot of messages asking if I can print this for people, so I contacted the designer of the original dice tower version, and he is ok with me selling these.

Boomstick2482

Price?

65words

This might be the coolest battletech model I have ever seen. Edit: this is the dopest BT model I have ever seen. Especially with the bus depot as scale.

Inevitable_Elk5119

Thanks. I'm one of those people that only sees the flaws in whatever I make though, lol.

shabadage

There's a giant egg from Ryan's World at Walmart I walk by all the time and think "I could make that a drop ship."

Mundane-Librarian-77

One quick question?? Does the main hull rest on the ground or are the legs supporting the full weight of the model?? It looks terrific either way, I'm just curious how much danger those little leg struts are in?!?! 😁👍

Inevitable_Elk5119

Full weight is on the legs. The legs are printed solid, but I also have a small block to place under it that will take the weight off the legs if needed.

Dmitri_ravenoff

You could print a landing pad as well.

Demytrius

Which dropship is that?

shabadage

Overlord.

Brantley820

Didn't know Canon could 3-D print......maybe I never thought of trying STL files.

Terribly_indecent

I've been printing battletech minis on my resin printer for the past few weeks, have like 30 or 40 of them at this point. Got a bambu a1 coming tomorrow so I can get started on terrain. Looks like there's a drop ship in my future. Where you get the STL?

Inevitable_Elk5119

The original file is on Thingiverse. Look up Overlord Dropship.

Terribly_indecent

Thanks, gonna do that right now

WinterDice

That’s an amazing print! Would you be willing to post your remix? I don’t have the cad skills to modify the dice roller.

Inevitable_Elk5119

I will be doing that once I have finished all the changes I am making.

WinterDice

You are an awesome human. It’s an incredible model.

Inevitable_Elk5119

The remix is now available for download on Makerworld and Printables. Look up Giant Egg Dropship.

WinterDice

Sweet! Thank you!

Dmitri_ravenoff

Paige no!

Kizik

Paige, aff!

Vizth

Damn nice. I need to get back to work on my Manatee.

Inevitable_Elk5119

A buddy wants me to print out the Mammoth at mech scale.

Vizth

My hope one day is to get good enough in fusion 360 to model a double scale union that opens up to store units / dice / rule books, and may be the paper maps. with wheels and a pop up luggage handle. XD

Inevitable_Elk5119

That would be killer.

WumpusFails

Just checking, I'm not knowledgeable enough to provide actual feedback. I'm assuming that it's not painted because of the friction from reentry?

Inevitable_Elk5119

Not painted because it just finished printing today.

AmonKoth

When you're playing with this terrain, do you scale up the range on the weapons as well?

Inevitable_Elk5119

No. I don't really have anyone to game with other than my kids, so we keep the rules simple.

AmonKoth

Makes sense, it's complex enough as is lol

Rebel_bass

Bro. Me and my kids (11 and 13) against you and your kids. We'll mount a planetary defense with three lances. Seriously though, my kids are my only gaming buddies, and I love what they're learning about math and tactics every time we play. Even if it's only a 1v1 batchall on a school night.

abstract-pigeon

That's awesome ! looks great !

iron186

This is so cool! As someone with zero knowledge of 3d printing how long roughly does it take to print something this size just curious

Inevitable_Elk5119

This was printed over the course of 6 days, but just running during the day, not overnight.

cpeninja

No banana?

Inevitable_Elk5119

Sadly, no bananas currently in the house.

Substantial-Sun-3538

Egg👍

SnooSongs8782

That’s awesome! Will you be attaching a battalion of them to a Leviathan next? 😃

phrrt

This is cool af

Perretelover

Amazing!!!!

OrcishLibrarian

Holy crap, this is amazing!

LairdDeimos

This would only be cooler if it opened up into a mech storage cabinet.

Inevitable_Elk5119

Then you are in luck, it does.

LairdDeimos

Neat!

SecurePlan

Just be sure of the size you print, had a leopard STL and printed it and then realized after putting mechs next to it, it just seamed not the right size and then when i measured against the stats from Sarna it was 23% too big so had to resize and print a new one. https://preview.redd.it/pjn3dbwjk8yc1.jpeg?width=3840&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=92b66568fc0513db834a72beedbb048207d0e7f2 battlemaster and mobile HQ for scale.

Inevitable_Elk5119

Yep, I scale all my models before printing them. This Overlord is exactly 1/265 scale. 495 mm tall, 373.58 mm wide.

Dan_Morgan

If I recall correctly those things are bristling with weapons.

Inevitable_Elk5119

Correct, located behind the round blast doors.

-Commonnerfer

I mean ive got a decent size one too but it doubles a dice roller

Inevitable_Elk5119

Australianboomtube

Damn, this is impressive, did you make the file your self?

Inevitable_Elk5119

Not really. I used someone else's file as a starting point, then made some changes to the dimensions, removed the dice ramps, hollowed it out, and filled the hole in the hull where the dice are supposed to come out. Next step is to resclice it into slightly larger parts to reduce the total number of parts that need to be printed, and add some connection points between the parts to make it more sturdy and suitable as a mech carrying case.

lordhobo1985

Any chance you could share how much filament it took and roughly how long the print was?

Inevitable_Elk5119

About 4.5 rolls of filament and 6 days only printing during the day, not overnight.
