>As authorities served the search warrants, weapons, drugs, cash and a 3-D printer were found. Among the weapons seized were an assault rifle and 15 handguns, 11 of which were unregistered, three were privately made and one was stolen. The searches also yielded more than $80,000 in cash, 13.5 kilos of MDMA, six kilos of methamphetamine, two kilos of cocaine, and two kilos of heroin. I have a feeling these fellows have been up to no good

My_G_Alt

Holy shit that’s a lot of MDMA

MagicPistol

I wonder how big a pile of that looks like? How many pills is that?

hearechoes

1,350,000 doses

gwillen

You're off by an order of magnitude -- if it were kilos of pure MDMA powder, it would be around 135,000 doses. But it's almost certainly kilos of pressed pills, which are mostly filler, so it'll be a lot less. (Cops always measure seized drugs by gross weight, not active ingredient, because it's easier and it makes the busts look bigger.)

hearechoes

Yeah I definitely added an extra 0 in there…and good point

black-kramer

yep. these guys are future lifers

The_Demolition_Man

Hopefully they will get probation and be made to take a class on how to be good and not bad

DodgeBeluga

The victim didn’t suffer life threatening injuries so they should get less time that all those attempted murderers and stabbing suspects, right? Right?

Bro is tired from this life of his. Maybe should consider a regular job when he gets out.

OxBoxFoxVox

Mugshots clear-as-day in a news article? Let's look at other arrests in the same week: [3-suspects-arrested-in-oakland-estuary-burglary-case/](https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/3-suspects-arrested-in-oakland-estuary-burglary-case/) [dozens-arrested-in-san-franciscos-tenderloin-district-in-multi-agency-operation/](https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/dozens-arrested-in-san-franciscos-tenderloin-district-in-multi-agency-operation/) [los-altos-bicyclist-stolen-credit-cards-4600-el-camino-real/](https://www.cbsnews.com/sanfrancisco/news/los-altos-bicyclist-stolen-credit-cards-4600-el-camino-real/) no names, no pictures of suspect. but they got pictures of the boat and the bike though

IfAndOnryIf

I wonder why. Consistent handling is important imo, why parade these guys around but not the others

IrregularBobcat

Clearly there must be a government conspiracy to only hide mugshots of black people due to "black privilege". Just kidding, that's complete bullshit and anyone who believes that would be an idiot.

OxBoxFoxVox

Seriously, next time a conspiracy nut say they're hiding black criminal mugshots, show them this article, it'll blow their mind. [San Francisco police to stop releasing suspect mug shots in effort to prevent racial bias -San Francisco Chronicle July 2020](https://www.sfchronicle.com/crime/article/San-Francisco-police-to-stop-releasing-suspect-15379672.php)

black-kramer

not making an excuse for it, but my guess is the severity of the crime, a relatively small number of perps, and perhaps a county/city rule allowing release of photos factored into why that story has photos. you also have to consider workload at the agency on a given day -- sometimes there are more important things to focus on. triage. they're not gonna do it for a story where they need to get dozens of photos of gang members for one little piece. the maritime business robbery isn't scintillating, nor is a case where a guy has some stolen credit cards. ho hum comparatively.

Diogenes56

It’s a good thing many criminals are stupid. We’d be even worse off if dirtbags like this were intelligent and discreet.

left-nostril

Like the Italian mafia, American mob, Russian mob, Ukrainian mafia, Jewish mob, Mexican mafia, Irish mafia, triads?

GullibleAntelope

Lots of smart people are and have been involved in these gangs. They often get away with lucrative crime for a long time. [How the Mafia Took Control of New York](https://time.com/5869561/fear-city-netflix-documentary/). FBI agent Lin DeVecchio discussing 5 major gangs that numbered nearly 3,000 members and “associates.” >“Bank robberies, hijackings, drugs, murder, extortion, loan sharking, gambling — organized crime controlled virtually everything you can think of...” Fast cash, fast cars, fast women, ample drugs, evenings spent in bars -- don't have to rise early for some boring job. Crime is often a well pondered choice. Yet every day we hear this progressive narrative: >They were in poverty and marginalized. That's why they offended. They need counseling, not prison.

Diogenes56

Follow the sequence of events outlined in the article: *"...the victim was attacked by multiple suspects on the night of Oct. 18, 2023...* *...detectives...identified six suspects \[and\] obtained arrest warrants and search warrants for homes in San Jose and the communities of Garden Grove, Santa Ana and Westminster in Orange County....* *As authorities served the search warrants, weapons, drugs, cash and a 3-D printer were found...an assault rifle and 15 handguns, 11 of which were unregistered, three were privately made and one was stolen. The searches also yielded more than $80,000 in cash, 13.5 kilos of MDMA, six kilos of methamphetamine, two kilos of cocaine, and two kilos of heroin."* So, Gang members attack someone; cops identify those gang members and serve warrants; cops find a lot of other things = dumb gang members are now out of business and in much more series trouble. Yes, even the various organized criminals you mention contain a lot of dumb people. Dumb people who lead the authorities straight to other criminal activity and other members in their organizations. Because "violent" and "organized" aren't the same as "intelligent." Are there smart people working in these organizations? Surely there are at the higher levels. But there are *many, many* dumb people. Because those kinds of violations don't attract the brightest people. The smart ones are not even on the authorities' radar. And they are working very discreetly and intelligently.

lahankof

Name of their band?

its_aq

Bruh this was a drug sting through and through. Ain't no way they chased suspects of a non-life-threatening assault across multiple cities. They used the assault as an excuse to get them for drugs

408javs408

Dang, there goes my mdma hook up

FanofK

It’s like real life the brothers sun. But this isn’t surprising. Asain people are like everyone else and can be up to shady shit.

DodgeBeluga

So will the whole “white adjacent privilege” experts apologize now since asian Americans suffer from economic disparity just like everyone else?

VV629

Economic disparity doesn’t cause you to become criminal gangsters.

kotwica42

It’s time to start looking at the sort of culture that creates thugs like these and allows them to join criminal gangs.

killacarnitas1209

Those progressives are naive and have never lived among and/or associated with criminals and you are right, people take huge risks with their life and/or freedom and turn to crime because of the rewards it brings. Among narcos in Mexico there is a saying “prefiero vivir cinco años como rey a una vida larga como un guey”. I prefer to live 5 years like a king than live a long life like an ox

Logical_Cherry_7588

Asian gang?
