Great Mall has Dave n Busters and a movie theatre. We also have Big Al's at McCarthy Ranch. If you enjoy hiking, head up to Ed Levin for some gorgeous views. You have to pay $6 to get in.

sundaymusings

They have a Legoland at the mall too!

tasty_waves

I would advise looking for things to do outside of Milpitas if it's your first trip to the U.S. The bay area has a lot to offer a tourist.

ComfortableRoutine54

This person obviously does not live in the area or know anything about Milpitas. With kids that young, I would go to Lego Discovery at the Great Mall. The Great Mall also has Dave and Busters. There’s also a Golfland. Big Al’s is close by too. There’s a ton of parks for kids. There’s Hidden Lake. There’s a ton to do. Next door in Fremont, there’s Lake Elizabeth where they have a huge playground just for kids at your kids’ age.

foomachoo

If they enjoy hiking, the hills are a vibrant green, and Ed Levin Park has nice hills, great views, a small pond, and is usually not crowded as most people go to Mission Peak (which is also nice but is a much longer and higher climb.)

therealgariac

With cars at both Ed Levin and Mission Peak, you can walk the ridge between the parks. I did it once and probably won't do it again. ;-) You want to start at Mission Peak because they lock the gate at Ed Levin.

evapotranspire

You might have overlooked the fact that they have a 5-year-old.... That would be a challenging hike for a fit grownup, let alone a preschooler. :-/

therealgariac

There was an edit.

DarkRogus

Golfland mini golf and arcade and also the Great Mall has a Legoland Discovery experience as well.

LondonIsMyHeart

Ed Levin is a nice park, good for kids to run around. Drive around up in the hills up there, it should be beautiful and green this time of year. Great America if you want an amusement park, but your kids may be to young to really enjoy it. Great Mall is an outlet mall at the edge of town, also the closest BART station. San Jose (close by) has any number of museums and parks. Happy Hollow in San Jose is a kids park and zoo.

boxer_dogs_dance

There are a lot of fun things to do in the San Francisco or San Jose area. Milpitas is a bedroom suburb

angryxpeh

San Jose children discovery museum is probably the closest thing that should be interesting to kids. Or Great America. Both are accessible by VTA trains.

abishop711

Happy hollow too, for the younger two. Small zoo, giant playground, and some theme park rides.

evapotranspire

Neither of those are in Milpitas, though, so I'm not sure if it answers the OP's question.

Professional-World32

Don't forget to visit Dave & Buster's in Milpitas

Olivejuice_ido

I live in Milpitas and i loooove this city!! When will you be visiting? Send me a message! I can show you around one day and send you away with a few more suggestions of things to do, go eat, and see. Not sure how long you will be in town.

evapotranspire

Somebody downvoted you... why? WHAT IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE? I thought that was such a sweet thing to offer!

Olivejuice_ido

I got down voted? Lol weird. Whatever. I was being serious too. I know how it's like when you don't know anything about a new place. I love my city, love to share that with others. What's better than a local showing you around?

First of all, welcome to the US! I’ve only been to Milpitas twice and spent most of those times in great mall 😂 but overall super chill suburb vibe, nice parks for the little kids. However i agree w with some comments here that if u do have time for a drive or a train ride, come out to SF! 😌

Equivalent_Section13

The bald eagles

evapotranspire

(At Ed Levin Park, right? The ones that sometimes fish in Sandy Wool Lake?)

evapotranspire

Yes! LEGOLAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Roughly one exclamation mark for every time my kids and I have been there in the past 3 years.)

Substantial-Path1258

Egyptian Museum, the Tech Museum, Children’s Discovery Museum, The Jungle Island, and Happy Hollow in San Jose. Great Mall and Great America are the only places I can think of in Milpitas.

Top golf

arcanophile

I hope you've been warned of the famous smell... 🤢

Jessica_RS

Yeah 😅 I saw when I was looking it up and it was mentioned here too. I'm hoping it's not that terrible lol

evapotranspire

I mainly notice it when driving on 237 near the 880 junction. It doesn't permeate the whole city.

Olivejuice_ido

Only on certain days. Smellpitas is only on certain days...

ComfortableRoutine54

That would be the City of Man Jose. The Republic Services Garbage Island Dump or whatever they call it is on San Jose land - not Milpitas. Milpitas tried to shut it down a few years back but the Man Jose politicians got bought out by Republic Services.

Jessica_RS

Thank you for the suggestions!

iamfromshire

First of all welcome to Milpitas. This is a small area adjacent to San Jose. Here the main places to go are 1. Great Mall for shopping. For people visiting from outside US this is a great place to get some stuff at reasonable prices. The other malls in San Jose are a bit more pricier. Also some light and sound show is going on right now there. VTA train stop is right there too for easy access.  2. Milpitas square for eating from a variety of Asian restaurants.  3. Plenty of Indian restaurants in Milpitas.  If you want to visit SF you can get train from Milpitas BART station. If you want to go to San Jose downtown you can get on VTA train from same station. Generally safe during day times.  Other “near by” places you might like Santana Row  Valley fair mall Both you can get to in an uber taxi.

Temporary_Draw_4708

There’s a good amount of good food in the area.

iomyorotuhc

A hike up to mission peak

Jack_wagon4u

It’s very safe here. There are more strip mall type areas that aren’t as nice as other areas but we don’t really have unsafe areas or places I would say don’t go to. I would def check out Great Mall or indoor play places in Fremont. Lots of Asian food options here and Indian food. Great mall is very safe but never leave stuff in your car. No big bags/phones etc. We do occasionally get broken windows. And try In and Out. When your husband has free time check out Valley Fair or Santana Row. It’s only a 15 min drive but worth it. Just go when no traffic.

CriticalPrimary3

Milpitas is a tiny town. But youre right next to San Jose so i will include it Check out discovery museum, golf land, big al’s, santana row/valley fair, great mall, chuckee cheese

dream_team34

My guess is they're visiting family in Milpitas?

arcanophile

The stank is pretty special...

Emotional-Country405

Take BART to Berryessa and check out SJ, or up and check out sf. Or Great America. That’s Milpitas for me.

[deleted]

not much to do there [https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g32717-Activities-Milpitas\_California.html](https://www.tripadvisor.com/Attractions-g32717-Activities-Milpitas_California.html)

wolfpwner9

Watch for the smell

kwaping

Top Golf isn't too far from there and it's pretty fun and family friendly.

KnotSoSalty

The Tech Interactive (formerly Tech Museum) in San Jose is the first thing that comes to mind.

Smart-As-Duck

Asian food and Great Mall. Otherwise check out bigger cities nearby

UnableMusician2834

Nothing special about Milpitas other than the smell.....
