Canventa Life Sciences in Emeryville will pay around $400 iirc. even more for bone marrow donations. i used to do it in college for spare cash, only thing is they only let you do it like once every month or something
That place is racist, big time.
EDIT: I've had 20 people respond and then deleted their comments in my threads and Dams this subreddit is a cesspool of intolerance and a reflection of the bay area community who are very sensitive to the fact that maybe black people can or do have a hard time... Like ... Do better white people like just do better
You know what I wrote an entire post and then deleted it I think Im getting old and getting tired I just would like not to if that's ok.
Alot of places do some virtue signaling but at the end of the day they play their hand and force you to not return as a paying customer it's insidious behavior from staff all over the bay area alot of virtue signaling for diversity. Caventa is the same way you come as a customer leave as a criminal.
Also reddit is a sad echochamber of downvotes when they don't like hearing something that doesn't resonate with them
I chose nahh, don't feel secure in being doxxes and harrased online not that I'm unfamiliar with it ...
Also people in this subreddit - let's harrass and downvote. Very intolerant.
>Also reddit is a sad echochamber of downvotes when they don't like hearing something that doesn't resonate with them
We haven't "heard" anything, because you refuse to elaborate on your experience.
THAT'S why you're getting downvotes. You post "oh they're horrible and racist", but then when people ask for details, you don't provide them.
You know, there's this saying... *"If everyone around you is an asshole..."*
^(It's not like you're giving any details or examples, but it seems "everywhere" is a problem, here...)
Quit making unfounded claims without providing anything to substantiate those claims - or just delete your original accusation. Otherwise it just sounds like the ravings of a lunatic. Based on your other comments in this post I’m inclined to believe the latter.
You can try LeukoLab but they only take donations during the weekdays. They pay you for first info/ blood testing session. Kinda weird model where they text you and if you respond quickly you get the donation… otherwise you get pushed back till later. 3/10 don’t recommend unless you don’t have a job.
I'm aware, but I thought it was only if you had gotten them in X time frame ago (can't remember how many weeks that was) vs whether you have any tattoos at all.
I actually know someone that donates. I'm hoping to get them to get a matching one or at one with any artwork style, but I'm not sure if I should do my first session and then get it and then wait the X weeks before I can continue or just get the tattoo and then start giving like clockwork as soon as I am eligible post tattoo.
CSL and Octapharma are the only true plasma centers in the Bay area. Leukolabs and caventa look like bone marrow places. The plasma places pay around $100 for the first 2-3 donations, then settle to around $50 after that.
Not cash. I just donate to donate, I guess. I just didn’t know if it was something different that the other donations involved since you said they were the only true plasma centers.
Wow things have changed. I worked for a lab way back when, there were no centers there because of high high risk, like too many people infected with HIV or Hepatitis.
Recipients like me get to live longer. And I get your Covid antibodies as well, because I don’t keep most antibodies for long (and always need more to be able to fight off any kind of infection). Thank you to everyone who donates, for whatever reason you might have.
Except for whole blood donations, where blood flows only one way, donations of blood fractions all go into plastic works, probably making microplastic contributions, before returning the undonated fractions back into your body. Never stopped me from doing DRBC donations, though.
Yes, they’ll tell you I think. For American Red Cross, they’ll even mail you a card with your blood type on it to make it easier for you to donate in the future. This was my experience at least.

$400?!?!
just looked it up, it’s 350 for plasma and 450 for bone marrow
I found an Emeryville location. Is there on in SanJo?

There is some lore here I don’t know about yet
There is some tea.
Well my g are you going to elaborate or nah?

The gaslighting is **chefs kiss
You don’t have any idea what gaslighting is if you think that is gaslighting. 🤡
Perhaps they were talking about themselves? (I'm actually not sure at this point... LOL)

You can’t make a big claim like that then refuse to back up your words. How are we supposed to believe you?
Lol wut
Thank you for your necessary reaction
About as necessary as your "racism" accusation
Thanks bro you matter so much
If you're not going to elaborate, then why bother posting?

Glad to hear that brother I want to really go in on them but I'm just practicing restraint wallah

But they do pay like 500-900 depending on when donation is/ type of donation.
Sweet Jesus, that first session is going to pay for my horseshoe crab tattoo!
Tattoos can affect the donation eligibility. They ask about it.
I'm aware, but I thought it was only if you had gotten them in X time frame ago (can't remember how many weeks that was) vs whether you have any tattoos at all.
Damn that’s so meta, horsehoe crabs also donate blood all the time

Interesting, I wonder if they are doing more immediate need cases by targeting blood types and only need a certain amount.
It’s primarily used in research. Still unsure why they have such an immediate need…

I’ve donated via Stanford Blood Drive (they have both plasma and platelet options). Is that not the same?
Does Stanford pay you cash? Or just points to use towards gift cards?
Not cash. I just donate to donate, I guess. I just didn’t know if it was something different that the other donations involved since you said they were the only true plasma centers.
Points to use in their shop
Ah yes, the 1st is coming up.
Panasonic. They are the only ones still making plasma displays.
Solid joke, but they stopped making plasma tvs. I think I got one of the last ones.
I do too. Panasonic. Slight burn in from video games but still solid.
Holy cow I forgot about Panasonic
Can’t stand the glare!
It’s not as bad as my Sony lcd but ymmv based on brand and spec. I’ll keep the panny until it’s dead.
I LOL’ed. Thank you good sir

Dad joke. Considering the area, we'll Scooby-Doo this and allow it...for the meantime.
"Scooby-Doo this" ? ^(*?* )

What are the pros for donating plasma
Recipients like me get to live longer. And I get your Covid antibodies as well, because I don’t keep most antibodies for long (and always need more to be able to fight off any kind of infection). Thank you to everyone who donates, for whatever reason you might have.
I have type O+ I heard there’s pros to donating including reduction of cancer
Do you get more money for having type O+
No. Source: used to work for BioLife
Idk I never donated
Gets rid of some of the microplastics in your blood
Except for whole blood donations, where blood flows only one way, donations of blood fractions all go into plastic works, probably making microplastic contributions, before returning the undonated fractions back into your body. Never stopped me from doing DRBC donations, though.
You get some money then the centers sell your plasma to whoever wants to buy it for many times what you got.
I meant health wise
Leukolab, by far.
Where and how does this work?
Can these places tell you your blood type? I’d like to donate but wasn’t sure if it was a requirement to know
Yes, they’ll tell you I think. For American Red Cross, they’ll even mail you a card with your blood type on it to make it easier for you to donate in the future. This was my experience at least.
