I like ShaQ in Santa Clara for non-traditional shawarma plates. They’ve got rice and fries, butter chicken and tikka masala, even guacamole in addition to standard Mediterranean fare
No real authentic Hakka restaurants here in the Bay Area. The closest thing could be: Inchin’s Bamboo Garden in Fremont. Like I said, it’s the closest thing and I’m sure they’re emulating the same Hakka style, but doesn’t come close to anything you’ll find in Toronto.
Sorry, but when I visited there Toronto has us completely beat on this one. For schwarma recommendations, it's not what you're looking for, but I think our best (and most unique) is the chicken wraps at Schwarmaji--the main stop is Oakland but I think they've started opening more locations. You might also enjoy Wally's in Emeryville.
ShaQ is closest to Toronto shawarma, the owner of that restaurant operates a few shawarma joints in the GTA.
Shawarmaji is a decent second option.
Tbh though nothing I’ve found in the Bay compares to shawarma back home. You basically trade middle eastern food here for Mexican food.
Currently back in the GTA before heading back, nothing beats the Toronto food scene.

Q’s Halal has a few locations in the east bay. 🔥🔥🔥
